Love, love, love....Beautiful time of year to hike/walk here. 11-2020.Wear your mask, please. There are many people walking. Lets practice protecting others and ourselves.
Challenging, beautiful scenery, encouraging people & a great sense of accomplishment once making it to the top. I did that. :)
Literal uphill battle. im pretty sure this hill was created by the devil himself and he was probably on heavy drugs while creating the second half because it’s like hiking up a zigzag. it gets worse and worse and i’ve contemplated throwing myself off the side to get down buuuuut it’s worth it at the end because of the beautiful view of the city. have fun!
I love this trail. It is so close to the center of the city and gives you a great opportunity to get your heart rate up . If you go fast you can reach the top in 25 minutes.
During this pandemic time, its a nice place to do some exercise or entertain your mind with the impressive Tucson view. It may take like 45-50 minutes, walking, to reach the top. Try to do during afternoon or early in the morning, and bring a couple of water bottles to keep you hydrated.
Without a doubt a great place to walk and get some good exercise. Really happy bikes are not allowed as there is more room for the average person to stroll their way uphill. People seem to be polite towards one another. The only downside would be finding a parking spot during early morning, or late afternoon hours.
Nice hike, places to rest, steep and paved. Masks required, social distancing. Available 4am to 10pm.
This is a really fun little hike! At the beginning of the hike theres a little shrine you can visit, or visit after your hike to rest! I believe this hike is little over 3 miles, and it is paved which I loved since I didnt bring hiking shoes to AZ. The path is well maintained and gets lots of foot traffic, so if you arrive earlier its a little more peaceful. The incline in insane, but slow and steady wins the race! My husband and I are not out of shape people but we were huffing and puffing by the time we got to the top! Along the way theres a little greenhouse area and University buildings and a port-a-potty in case you need it. All in all, a beautiful hike and a fun way to spend an hour or so getting some exercise.
Whats not to love? Its good for your health and great for your eyes...the views are unforgettable.
I do Tumamoc twice a week. I power walk up and run down. Its always a good workout!
Enough people to make you feel safe hiking at night but not enough people to feel at all crowded. Nice and scenic with a newly paved path makes for a great small hike!
Best done under a full moon!
Finally decided to check out this hiking trail. Whew- if you havent hiked in a while, be prepared. This is a fairly steep ascent. Short hike, but a good workout on the way up. Can be quite a few people hiking this trail on weekends. Some great views along the way. Bring your water, take your time if youre just leisurely strolling & enjoy the scenery & outstanding views. If you want a workout that doesnt take a long time, this one will do it.
It was nice but there is a lot of people not wearing their masks
Absolute Tucson treasure! Great excercise and terrific views of the city.
Awesome place to hike and enjoy the great outdoors.
Great urban hike. 800 rise in 1.5 mile (one way) hike. Steep enought to get you rheart rate elevated. Views from the top are spectacular! Theres even an interactive app for the area (see photo). Great way to start the day! Unfortunately, no dogs. :(
The city view from the top is awesome. Trail is clean. There are no pets, bicycles or cars allowed which is mostly a +, unless you wanna take a dog up or something. The climb up is about 1.5 mi/2.4 km and it gets steeper the higher you go, making it a good challenge and workout, and if walking it isnt enough for you, you can always run it or strap some weights on. There are also people up there an hour + past sunset which kind makes it feel safer in the dark.
Great option for a nice cardio workout. It does get rather difficult the further you climb so keep that in mind. The wildlife is beautiful and when you make it to the top the view is gorgeous! You gotta try it at least once!
Beautiful views of Tucson!
Nice walk. Nice views. Good workout. Used to be so much less populated, but seems its gotten pretty popular now so lots of people.
Wonderful place to hike in Tucson...
Great place to enjoy..
Gorgeous views and a great app to learn about the area and the wildlife located in the park. Even if you dont download the app, the stands and art are very informative
It took us 2 hours to reach the top. We stopped a lot to take in the scenery and take pictures. The trail is a paved service road and steep in some places. Take your time. Bring water leave your dogs behind. No bicycles are allowed but there are metal posts at the trailhead to lock it up. Park on Anklam Rd not at the medical plaza or you might be towed. Enjoy!
Awesome hike, wonderful views, very well maintained. People arent following the mask rule though
Every few months I try and take a moment to climb to the top of the hill to see the sun rise, sun set or just mid day city viewing. the path has a bike lane and a very wide paved walking lane. parking can be a little inconvenient but well worth the hike. Enjoy!
Walked up the paved hiking path before the renovations and it was such a great workout. The view from the top is worth the effort to get there. Parking is a bit challenging as you have to either park on the street or at the hospital but havent had an issue. There are port-o-pottys halfway up and water fountains and garbage bins which is nice. I saw a deer along the way which was a treat and rare occurrence. Took an hour round trip and Im an intermediate hiker so best to plan for 2hours for novice or 45min for advanced so you can enjoy the view from the top and get some pictures. There is also a bicycle rental station at the base of the hill where you can drop off at another location, a map of drop off points if there, very convenient. There are restaurants, fast food, fuel stations and grocery stores close by. Its a half mile from Pima College west campus.
Beautiful views from the top of this hill. Great place to catch a passing shower and a great place for hiking and getting in some exercise. Its most if you are visiting captivating views 180 degrees.
Great place to walk and burn some calories
This is an great way for locals and visitors alike to experience Tucsons scenic mountains. The fully paved hiking path is challenging in terms of incline, but the view from the top is well worth it. Bring water, wear sunscreen, and enjoy!
Straight forward hike. Quite steep at times. Nice that its all paved and has interesting info posted about local wildlife & sporadic benches for people to rest.
If you haven’t walked up this hill before, you surely should get on that. The views are excellent, the wildlife abundant, and who doesn’t love being outside while getting an amazing workout? It’s also a research center, wildlife preserve, and a place for talking things out and leaving it to the earth.
Great place to go for a walf and get to the top.On the top its a beautiful view you can rest. Its about 1 hour and 20 to do the hole thing
I really do love this hill. I’ve been going up it since I was in Highschool now I’m in my 40’s. It’s Amazing incline and gives you a rest and then goes into a steep incline again. It’s so busy now everyone seems to do it . I recommend not going early in morning or after work because it’s so packed you can’t get up it at a fast pace. Always have to stop and dodge people.
Its tough!! Lol but you can do it
Its a hilly hill full of ups and downs...
Updated 2/14/19The new paved road, complete to the top of Tumamoc Hill, is done and the hike is just that much better.------The road is going to be repaved from Jan 22 to Feb 3, 2019 and the hike will be closed. This is a great hike requiring a long uphill grind, exercise caution. Views are incredibly breathtaking.
Im not a pro hiker but I made it to the very top & back in about 1.5 hours. The 2nd half gets a bit steep so pace yourself. There is one official rest stop but some benches are available along the way. Definitely great views!
Nice place for a winter walk or run.
A quick workout with beautiful views
I love this place for Hiking.
Its an awesome 3 mile workout with a view of downtown Tucson.
It was first time. Looking forward to going back.
The repaved it and its great no more holes!
Challenging walk but very quiet & serene.
If you havent, you need to make this walk. Strenuous for sure. Just take your time and enjoy the incredible views! If its dark, use a flashlight - saw my first rattlesnake this evening just off the trail near the top.
Beautiful city views, day or night, and free! Just park on the street. Wear comfortable shoes.
Paved trail. There is an app you can download to narrate the hike. The timing is hard to follow, but it’s interesting if you like ecology. This trail is steep with minimal shade.
Great place for morning walks.
Hidden gem! I grew up in Tucson and only now got a chance to hike this hill. Amazing view of the city, and definitely a good workout!
Good hiking excercise
Great views at the top! Best done early in the day before it gets too hot!
Best walk in tucson.
Love this hill!
Still Lovin it ! We feel great !
Best views at night, steep hike, nicely paved path.
Most are not wearing masks or practicing social distancing on the day I was there. I think it is not safe at this time - too bad - I love it there
Awesome hill thats paved. A lot harder than you think its gonna be.
You will have an amazing view of Tucson from the top.
Always a good time, short yet a little steep
Best place to walk and have the best view in Tucson
Tumamoc Hill is nearly perfect as a 3-mile-long general exercise hike. The combination of curves, straightaways, gradients, and elevation gains could hardly be better. The desert it traverses is mostly natural and beautiful, and the views are great. It is crowded, so if youre seeking solitude, Id go elsewhere.
Great views every time, very good exercise!! Beautiful way to see all around Tucson with breathtaking views.
Beautiful place to hike, especially at sunset or sunrise. The landacape is beautiful
Absolutely beautiful. You truly get your workout going up the hill, but the views are breathtaking.
A great place to watch the sun rise.
Well worth it!!
I like the view and the person that go there animal
Best free cardio workout in Tucson!
The trail has recently been repaved, theres several port a potties along the way plus the drinking fountain located half way up is working and supplies cold water. Theres also plenty of wild life to see from time to time.
I love hiking Tumamoc! Always people on the path, so feels pretty safe to go alone. Paved so I dont have to mess with hiking boots and a rewarding walk-- tough going up and a lovely downhill cooldown stroll with awesome views. And I love the little coffee trailer that has been there Saturdays and Sundays! Time your walk to come down the hill at sunset. Tucson magic!
Tumamoc is great. A strenuous 1.5 miles to the top. Very steep at times. You see all types of folks on an average day, people pushing strollers to trainers wearing weighted vests and oxygen restriction masks. The road surface is for the most part even, but the aggregate in the asphalt protrudes more than average, making the surface pretty rough. You can feel the road through your shoes is a better way to put it perhaps. The view is amazing from the top of course. It is the ideal spot to watch the city change and grow over the years.
Loved the view, the trail, everything. Ive been coming back at least once a week
I love it
Great views while getting fit
A killer cardio workout especially when its 104!!
Awesome climb
Tucson hot spot! Work out with friends and take in the beautiful sun rise or sunset.
It humbles you, it gives a great run to Camelback hike in Phoenix
The hill was here before I was born. The hill will be here after Im gone. Theres something spiritual about Tumamoc Hill.
It is a very awesome place to experience for exercise. Walk up it alone or with a companion. No one minds anyone. Every one is kind to each other and it is very safe.
Excellent hike, paved road up the mountain and beautiful views at the top!
I love hiking Tumamoc. The view from the top is more than just an expression, its truly fantastic. Seeing the deer along the trail in the afternoons is always worth a stop and see.
Great place for incline cardio training. A little over 3 miles round trip, with a 745 ft ascent.
Great place to walk because there were no street dogs but there were trashes scattered everywhere.
