Had a great time here with our 2 year old son! Not too crowded, be sure to reserve your time there ahead of time...1st come 1st serve! Dont forget to bring your mask.Tickets are really cheap, but great exhibits! Theres a big park here too, plenty to do with the family! Will definitely recommend this spot and will return!
Perfect for a day trip, this zoo is neither too big nor too small; it’s just right. There are quite a few animals there, and they were all easily seen. Plus the zoo is arranged in a way that offers plenty of shade along the path so that you aren’t in the sun all the time. Additionally, there’s a very friendly peacock who followed us around ️ All in all, this is a great little zoo that offers something for the whole family!
I love my visits to this zoo, and even though there are some major renovations going on, it was still a good day. The park was clean, easy to navigate, and the animals were all in good form. I especially enjoyed the grizzly bears today. Lots of interaction between both of them. Of course, the elephants are always a good bet. Today was very sweet, the momma elephant herded up the littles and guuded them to big daddy, who was behind an enclosed area, and the two if them exchanged hugs for a bit.I love this family zoo, and I hope you will too!
Awesome zoo!! Very pleasantly surprised. I expected the exhibits to be close together and crowded viewing. Instead, the mostly shaded paved walkways wound around and between the animal enclosures very nicely. The enclosures were large enough for the animals to have a variety of spots to play, sleep, etc but yet were small enough that viewers can very easily see the animals. Wonderful variety of animals and birds. Great value! Will definitely visit again!
Weve really missed going to Reid Park Zoo since the pandemic and we were finally able to get tickets, but we were quite disappointed. Theyre doing a lot of renovations which is great, but we should have waited until after they were done. We were sad to see the tigers gone, but LOVED seeing the new baby elephant. The worst part was the cafe. They did a complete overhaul of the menu and we were extremely disappointed. It was VERY overpriced and the food just wasnt good at all and was very bland. For two adult meals and three kids meals it cost us $75. Next time we go to the zoo we will wait until the renovations are done and will plan it so that were not there during lunchtime so that we can dine somewhere else.
We visited the zoo yesterday and had such a great experience! It was sold out for the day and I think they did such a great job limiting capacity. I felt very safe and able to maintain social distance. We saw several staff cleaning railings throughout the day. Our kid has been cooped up with nothing to do for months and being able to take him to do something, safely, meant the absolute world. Thank you guys so much for all your efforts to keep people safe!
Came for an occupancy controlled, reservation only, Friday morning visit. Purchased tickets online and it was very simple. Theres lots of construction happening around and some exhibits are closed. Everything looked well maintained and clean. It wasnt terribly crowded but most people do gather around the main animal attractions especially the new baby elephant. Masks were being used by all of the staff that I saw and Im guessing 90% of the guests. The guidelines ask that guests where a mask when around other people and social distancing cant be observed.. some guests were not following the guidelines, Im not really sure how to control that but its just something youre signing up for if you choose to visit.
Girl at the ticket booth was a know it all. I cant scan your tickets until everyone is wearing their mask (although myself and my 1 and 3 year old were standing 10 feet back from my husband, who was wearing his mask). Then she says You are all required to wear a mask through the entire zoo. First of all, my small children will not be required to wear masks anywhere. Second of all, I will not wear a mask OUTSIDE. Do you realize how stupid that is? We used to like this zoo but probably wont be back due to the power trip. Completely insane what control Covid is giving people (and businesses). Most of the zoo was under construction anyway so there wasnt much to see.
The Zoo is open, very pleasant. Covid regs are being followed. See the baby elephant. You have to go to the web site for tickets. Enjoy
Very clean and covid safe went to make it special for my son who is 11 weeks old due to losing his grandma he really enjoyed seeing the bears
Had a wonderful time watching the baby elephant playing in the mud hole! Our first visit, definitely not our last!
There is a lot of construction and changes being made to improve the zoo right now. Regardless, the atmosphere is wonderful and the employees are awesome. It was peaceful and with the current pandemic, the number of visitors permitted was limited. Book tickets online and weekends seems to fill up quickly. We cant wait for the changes to be completed to see what is next.
They have done a fantastic job with reopening after quarantine. My kids and I were very happy the cafe was open too!
My family and I were amazed by the variety of animals at the zoo. There was some animals we had never seen before. We had a great time! Everyone was following safety guidelines. Staff members we crossed during our walk through the park greeted us. I was glad there was some ice cream, popcorn and beverages available to buy. The baby elephant was beautiful!
I always love the Zoo and I just love the new common squirrel monkey exhibit. These are fascinating Little Monkeys. Extremely enjoyable to watch their movement and antics. This is a wonderful addition to the Zoo. I hope that everyone gets the opportunity to see these bright and enjoyable creatures.
Regulated attendance at the zoo has resulted in a less-crowded feeling and more room to walk around. Everyone wore masks and was mindful of the social distancing requirement.
It was nice to visit the zoo for my moms bday. Penzi the baby elephant is too cute but my favorite is always the otter. Its also nice with how much shade there is and places to sit to watch the animals and take a break.
Great Experience while social distancing & staff are constantly cleaning everything, thank you, yall make a difference. God Bless
Im sad but i am so happy to finally get to go to the zoo. Granted alot of the exhibits wete closed alot were still open. Now as a matter of public service i have to say many people are not adhering to our county and state mandates as far as wrating masks not even covering their children. So pleasrs support our local zoo but be warey.
AWESOME! I cant wait for them to finish their upgrades. Will DEFINITELY be returning, my family had a blast!
Beautiful clean zoo. The animals are well taken care with large areas to roam.
One of my favorite zoos in the world, seriously. Its a small zoo, but its not hard to kill a few hours just wandering around and watching animals. Best of all, the layout has a flow and you wont get lost trying to see everything. Giraffe feeding and carousel are available, and the food at the restaurant is pretty good. By going to the zoo, you support the invaluable conservation work they do. Reid Park is clean and the animals are so loved and cared for. I recommend a behind the scenes tour!
Didnt realize Tucson even had a zoo, let alone an awesome zoo like this. This is the perfect size zoo. Not too big but has plenty of variety. Well maintained and really neat. Incredible value as well at around 10 bucks a person. Had a great time with the family. Highly recommend.
This is a must a must do stop when in Tucson. Tickets are very affordable it isnt crowded. There is an aviary walk through that you can get up close to some really neat exotic birds. You can feed the giraffes for only 3 dollars and get some beautiful pictures in the process. Honestly I look forward to coming back next time I am in Tucson.
So glad to be able to enjoy the zoo again! I wish the discovery center was open so we could see the snakes, but I understand why its closed. The kids still had a good time. We miss the polar bear!
Very clean and good covid-19 set up.
Regardless of the construction sites, it was a fun activity with my daughter. She loved the couple of grizzlies and giraffes. Baby elephant is a must-see! It has an exciting playground coming 2021!
This is one of my favorite Tucson attractions! Fun, rarely crowded, fairly priced, awesome animals! I took my wife here for dates and my kids here to learn. Descents are very knowledgeable and easy to learn from. Kids have loved their behind the scenes tour and camps over the years. GREAT PLACE!
It was awesome and theyre building new habits
This new “online ticket purchase” is inconvenient.Masks being mandatory for an outdoor attraction?Very disappointed in their decisions, how do you sell tickets to individuals who don’t have access to internet? This used to be my go to place for my kids but this definitely will be my last resort for entertainment.I do not support these changes
Small but I really enjoyed the cages where the birds are up front and walking around you. Thatbwas pretty cool and the leopard is beautiful. Im kinda bummed out that I didnt get to see the anteater or the capybara
Clean park with professional staff doing all they can to keep the heard and visitors safe!
The park is so Fun it changed alot
Love this zoo. Close to home. Great animal enclosures and easy stroll to see all the zoo in one visit
Freedom to roam the park during the pandemic. Good to get out and enjoy the animals. Especially enjoyed the Meerkat exhibit.
Super cute zoo! I travel a lot for work and I always try to go to the local zoo. Comparatively, this zoo is VERY small. It took me an hour to do the whole thing. You can tell the zoo is very loved by the local people and the people who work there. All the animals are beautiful and well taken care of. I’d say they even seem happy! They’re very active. If you like peacocks you’re in for a treat too because they roam around freely! You’ll find every staple animal there that you would at another larger zoo there’s just less different animals.
Good to know our tax dollars go to build and upkeep and yet they still find the need to charge NON VERBAL, SPECIAL NEEDS people and kids over 14 as ADULTS! I guess no account for common sense or courtesy as long as you get the almighty dollar at all cost. Its unfortunate he has the zoo programed on his talking device and he enjoys the animals. Yea for taxes and exploitation of the people in society without a voice.
Love this Zoo but was very hot! 112° Not too many of the bigger animals out. Lots of new construction. But I will go back late Oct.
We came here just to visit the zoo from Apache Junction and it looked small at first but it has a lot of animals and was well worth the drive. The alligator almost seemed fake at first and we stood there a while trying to debate its status with the world of the living. Needless to say the alligator is happy and alive. Great experience.
This is a pretty impressive zoo considering the lack of great development in Tucson in recent years. Im glad this place was built before the town started going towards generic suburbia. Sadly places like Reid Park Zoo will likely not be popping up anytime soon in this less civic minded era of Tucson.
Reid Park Zoo is an amazing zoo, particularly for being so space limited! Perfect experience with kids. We purchased a family membership last fall, which is one of the best values Ive ever encountered with 3 boys, aged 2 to 11. They are always improving, and the new squirrel monkeys are awesome!
Great little zoo. Were members and visit often
This is a lovely zoo to take the family too. Its not as big as most but it differently offers a lot to learn about and see. The giraffe feeding is fun and got to see many of the animals out and playing.
This is a fun little zoo thats easy to see in an afternoon! They have plenty of animals in habitats that make them easy to observe up close, and they have quite a few species not commonly found in every zoo, like a tapir and an anteater, among others. They have plenty of activities for young children, so we were able to keep my 3 year old engaged throughout, despite his toddler attention span. Bring some cash if you enjoy things like giraffe close encounters and carousels! They have a small play area near the aviary where parents can take a break while toddlers play as well, and a small educational center. Restrooms were always easy to find, and the park was clean and safe as a whole. You can rent motorized wheelchairs and strollers, so thats helpful as well, its very handicap accessible.
Clearly the animals are well cared for. Great zoo for kids of any age.
Very enjoyable. Most eating places are closed but most animal exhibits are open.
Super fun, lots of cute animals, inexpensive, great place to spend the day with your family.
Great zoo! Staff was very friendly, and the experience was great! My son loved it!! He recommends the otters
Wasnt not able go in do to no $$ but did get helpful information.
Nice, friendly, family atmosphere. Entry fees are good. Lots of construction going on right now but still worth the visit.
They were setting up for the Boo at the Zoo so a few areas were closed for the event and decorating but all animals were still in view and roaming about. And its a sneak peek for halloween event 2019. It was perfect time going around 10 because we got to see some feedings!
I love the park! My dog Harley and I go. Today we sat by the pond (not the lake) and had fun watching ducks, people, kids, dogs, etc...
So happy to be back. Reid Park Zoo is a zoo to be proud of. So excited for all the big plans to add to the experience!
Had the best day with my son and the grandkids
There is construction on new exhibits happening so some areas/animals arent accessible. There are also restrictions on how many people are allowed in on any given day to accomplish social distancing so purchase your tickets early as the weekends sell out fast. For the most part people maintained proper distancing and waited for each group to go in to view the animals closely, taking turns. The only people I observed without a mask were babies and toddlers (allowed by law). There was some food for sale, mostly snacks and drinks. We took a picnic lunch and blanket with us and ate on the large grassy area set aside for that and other groups kept their distance appropriately with their picnics as well. All in all a good day. I only gave 4 instead of 5 stars because sometimes there was noise and dust from the construction. Have fun!
For the price of admission, its a nice little zoo. The exhibits were larger than I expected. Although, for some of the larger animals, I wish their spaces were larger. Overall, it was a nice affordable outing for the family and me.
The remodeling and the layout has made it more exciting then when i was growing up. My kids love it and have so much fun with the intersection with the animals.
Oh gosh, my husband and I were married here, in 2016. I cant believe I didnt review it. We enjoy the zoo, still do. More so, now that we have a child. It is a great place to visit...hosting an event on the other hand...Wedding reviw:As far as the the food served was amazing! The Chefs and Food Event Coordinators were amazing (including bar tenders)!!! No complaints there...at all!I think event staff was good(no personal encounters); but, the Event Planner was...eh...we changed planner hands a couple times, which is stressful when you have to start over; especially so close to an event day. The contracts were clear, to us, but the planner seemed to not know what was in them. It was incredibly frustrating. The EC said she wouldnt leave my side the whole wedding...well...she did...a lot! I saw her maybe 3 times in a 4-5hr duration (most of the time she was snacking or eating...food that we were paying for...for our guests!). They dont let you take home leftovers or donate leftovers to soup kitchens(so baffling!!!). I was told this by the EC. She left such a bad impression that when my husband left the event staff a tip. He made sure they were very aware that he had given it to her. Needless to say...we will no plan another event here. Our guest, unaware of our impression. Had a wonderful time! They still talk about being able to feed the giraffes. It was great being able to provide such a unique experience. That being said, we now bring our daughter for the occasional visit. We go every year to the Christmas light festival. We enjoy that there is always something new going on.
Fantastic exhibits. You can get extremely close to the animals there
Always a perfect trip at the zoo. Animals are healthy and all the upgraded living quarters are nice. It really is a pleasure and a gift to get to see the animals looking happy!
Nice to see the new baby elephant. Look forward to when the new construction is done.
Amazing! Way better than most zoos, very upClose and personal to animals. But it’s small. Can do the whole Zoo in under 2 hours. That was perfect for us!
A great zoo that you can visit if you only have a few hours! We really enjoyed visiting on a weekday too because it was pretty quiet and the animals were all out enjoying the cool wet fall weather. Will definitely go back again at some point!
The Reid Park Zoo is a wonderful place to take your family or hang out with a bunch of co-workers like I did. The zoo is a perfect size to see many animals in a small amount of time. The giraffes are the center of the zoo and you keep coming back to them making it very difficult to get lost, turned around or miss anything. The animals were all active and happy, this seems like its a wonderful place for them to live! I went into the gift shop to find a little something to take back to my boys and there were so many fun things that I had a hard time deciding. The staff member in the gift shop was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.
Great intown get away. Plenty of shaded parking, very peaceful, park tables/benches, duck pond and green grass, zoo and more. Didnt notice any covid barriers hopefully there gone.
We were shocked to find out that the zoo was planning to demolish the pond and stream we have grown to love in my 49 years in tucson. I think the city should reconsider the reclamation of this area.
Phenomenal zoo. Small but good. Densely packed with good animals. The animals look happy and healthy.
I was a bit skeptical of the zoo upon first entering. Having been to several zoos I have been to some really nice ones and the entrance and first few parts of the zoo werent terribly impressive, but by the time we left I was thinking differently. Its still not the nicest zoo ever, and it was under construction while we were there, but there were some nice exhibits and some unique animal experiences which was nice.
A nice lityle zoo right in the heart of Tucson. It took my husband and I 2 hours to walk the whole park. I will be back!
Its a cute zoo. Nothing huge. Easily walked through in 2 hours.
Very impressive zoo for the size, love taking the little ones here
I went to buy tickets online since that’s what they have you do now due to Covid and it says they’re sold out for Oct. 24th and 25th. So I called and asked about that and they said they only sell so many tickets per day even though they don’t know when these people will come or go. I am a very upset customer since they can sell tickets at the counter and count how many people are in the zoo at a time to be able to let more people in per day. Well we will be going to Phoenix now to a way better zoo
Almost all of the animals were out walking around. A lot of cool animals!
Great value for this zoo. You will not be disappointed in the variety of animals. Beautiful walk ways and staff was friendly. There is also a kid train and carousel for $3 additional. Wish there were more options for snacks around the zoo. There are stands that have some drinks, popcorn, chips and ice cream. There is a food hall at the entrance for food orders.
This is a fun small zoo, you can see everything in half a dayish. Parking is free, you get up close to animals, and they are making a ton of improvements and expanding. Pricing is reasonable considering the free parking. The military discount for a season pass is great $64 for a year, or upgrade for $114 and bring friends with your family. The food was decent and reasonably priced. They sell Starbucks coffee. The one upgrade they could make is additional shaded seating. Make sure to feed the giraffes. Get in line 15 min early.
I didnt like the zoo at the all. I went there on Halloweed afternoon. But the whole environment was dead. I mean literally. Hardly any birds or animals. All I saw were:Squirrel MonkeyLionessesElephantsRhinoOstrichesZebrasGiraffesTortoisesAlligatorHornbillsVulturesMountain BearMeerkatsLemursAnteatersxTapirJaguarCapybaraCrested ScreamerCockatooDucksLots of Peafowls(this was refreshing)A few more birds that I cannot rememberLots and lots of halloween themed skeletons.
Very nice employees are keeping everything clean and sanitizer. My grandkids my daughter and my self we loved!!!! Everybody follows social distance great job!!!!
Great walking area. Nice scenic park with a bunch of green grass and trees, ducks too :)
I mean, its the zoo. . . . It should always be a good time! The animals were all out and bring interactive, and the weather was beautiful! Great for taking pictures!!
Elephant exhibit was the best! Watching them in the mud pit was pure joy!
Some displays are closed. Its a nice zoo. We will go back when all the displays are open.
The Festival was fantastic! Even got to see some lazy lions sleeping in their enclosure. The lanterns were extraordinary and great photo opportunities.
We absolutely LOVED our day at the Reid Park Zoo. We went just before the world gets Covid19. Spent about 1.5 to 2 hours there and my kids loved every minute of it. Lots of different animals to see and you can easily tour the entire zoo. Would love to come back here soon.
Local zoo in Tucson that keeps improving. Over the years the elephant exhibit has expanded and a wide variety of animals have been added to the zoo. Great place for family events and the zoo itself also holds holiday events for Halloween and Christmas. The zoo as a whole can be seen within the hour but there is a lot to see within it. Overall a fun time!
Great little zoo and the animals look very happy! Its a nice change from some other zoos I have been to.
I love this place. I grew up going to this zoo and I now get to enjoy bringing my children. Great zoo, not usually crowded, highly recommend for a nice day out with the family. My little one thoroughly enjoyed feeding the giraffe
My favorite zoo since I was a kid. It just keeps getting better. Lots of animals. People are friendly. Animals well taken care of. Clean and fun!
Two nice playgrounds. My granddaughters favorite
A nice park, with plenty of parking. Fantastic paved walking paths that are wheelchair accessible. There is a lovely water fountain that looks like waterfalls that is quite enjoyable and tree-covered. Theres a cute little pond with ducks in it. There was a little train that drove around with children being towed in it. There was a lovely rose garden that was beautiful with some Heritage roses. All in all an extremely enjoyable experience with things for people of all ages to do.
Nice weather and not too many people on the walking path.
Been here many times and I can say this is a pretty good zoo. I was surprised how big the zoo is granted it is in the middle of Tucson. I do suggest if you visit during the summer to be properly prepared but it is perfect to visit during the fall winter and spring. My last visit was during the lunar festival which was pretty cool to walk around and look at all the lights. Tons of good photos to take and was a great walk just to look at the lights. I would go right when it opens so you can see the animals before dark because once the sun is down it is impossible to see most of the animals. There are several shows during the night however one was cancelled due to the rain so double check if the shows will go on even if it is raining. There is east Asian food at the cafe as well. Overall super fun night and loved the lights.
Excellent little zoo. Although they are not a big zoo, there are plenty of animals. Lions, tigers, elephants, an impressive variety of birds, otters, alligators, monkeys, two types of bears, giraffes, lemurs, a jaguar, ant eater, tapirs, goats...I may be missing a few still. There is also a lovely animal themed merry-go-round that children can ride for 3$. Strollers can be rented or you can bring your own of course. You can also feed the giraffes for 3$. There is a cafe area, and various little food stands through out (dipping dots for ex.). There is also a little train at the entrance for kids to ride for 3$. I very much enjoyed this zoo, they explain how their animals were sourced and introduce them by personal names as well as by species. If you are a local there is a family membership that is very worth it and pays for itself in 2 visits. It also covers up to 4 kids!
Wonderful experience!! Took my nephews 4yr old and 2 yr old they loved it!!
I loved coming back her with my daughter it has been over 20 years. ( BTW, No the stuffed animal is not her)
