Nice trail, gives a nice feel of the cactus forest. You can take Loma Verde and circle around back, about a 4 mile hike. Recommend doing it earlier in the morning during the summer because of the lack of shade.
Great hike! Loved the scenery and animal life. I recommend using the alltrails app while hiking to make sure youre following the correct patg. I visited in June and the trail crosses a few dry riverbeds, making it harder to find where the trail continues on the other side of the riverbed.Definitely take the .1 mile detour and hike up to the top of Pink Hill. Great 360 views of the surrounding land!
Nice trails to hike and experience the desert. Stop at the ranger station and grab a trail map. This is a national park. So, they do charge normally for entrance. Gates were open with no one working during the week. Not sure about the weekends. We have a park pass but, you can pay online. Its an honor system. Just pull your car up to one of the multiple parking areas along the 8 mile one way paved road and park. You can pick short or long trails. Most trails are flat or have very limited grade. Trails are marked with metal markers with trail names and distance in tenths of a mile. Take your map with you on the trail so you can make sure you want to stay on the right trail markers. You can shortcut some trails into smaller loops back to the parking area or expand your hike with a larger loop. Bring lots of water. We wore shorts, hats, and tennis shoes. We saw a Roadrunner, lizards, and squirrels. Very scenic. Cellular service works everywhere. Take a camera of course!
This place has hurt me so much. Physically. But I love this place to death, pun intended. All those clingy cacti struck me in the legs and arms. Lots of blood drawn and made me paranoid of stepping my another foot. Be very very careful, God help you if you lose a step and fall on top of these, facing these cacti.
Really enjoyed this hike. Not to difficult. Beautiful.
An easy hike with great scenery
This was a nice trail that was relatively flat and gave a good view of the terrain in Saguaro East. We didnt go far, ending at the abandoned copper mine, but enjoyed the time. There is an interesting rock formation at a wash that is easy to access, with some beautiful colors. The trails are well-marked and easy to follow.
A concentrated sampling of desert Flora and Fauna in a managable distance. Do not miss the overlook for a sweeping view of the area.
Walking this trail was a highlight of our snowbird trip south (to escape the Minnesota winter)
Awesome trail, bring a map or use an app
Nice cactus, easy trails
