I am highly disappointed this evening. I have been eating the same thing here since 2016....this is one of my favorite places to eat and tonight my favorite quesadilla was disgustingly bland and they forgot the peppers and onions... Not to mention how dry and tasteless the rice was. Sorry to say Im done eating here if this is how it is now. Worst 30 bucks Ive spent on my boyfriend and I in a long time. So sad.

Cool vibe and atmosphere with great food presentation full of flavor. Every single item on this menu is outstanding! Add jalapenos to the Chi-Chi Rodriguez margarita to balance the mango flavor (its killer!)

Came here for a few drinks after dinner. The hostess was really nice and helpful. The bar tender ignored me and my wife mostly for single males. You can be tipped well for food service, not just your flirty behavior with college guys. Prices were a little high. I got what I expected from seeing the outside of the place so I cant be to disappointed.

A co worker recommended this place but I literally watched them hand two diffetent delivery people food then they left me standing in their lobby for about 10 minutes offering no service. I left.

Okay we came around 2pm sat outside which was nice. The tacos were good. We had different people serve us however the server took way too long. We didnt know who our server was. Got the sala and chips, they were good. Usually I dont complain but the service needs to be better. You were left waiting for them to return.

Not bad at all, the food fresh and good. Staff attractive young women dressed with very little, so maybe no children should be brought. None the less, good folks good food. The place has outdoor sitting with street view, people passing by interesting. But folks, keep your mind on the mouth watering food because youll be glad you came to feast at El Hefe in Tempe.This review is from 2019 but I added star so looks new.

Prejudice and assumptive. My very dark skinned friend and I walked arm and arm a tad buzzed looking for somewhere nice to have a drink and maybe some food. (We were calm and just hungry... not loud, anything, minding our own business) Waitress tossed the menu at us, and didnt come back or literally even check on us for over twenty minutes. We had plenty of money and plenty to tip... but it felt like because we were mixed, seeming gay, and already a tad loose they just didnt want to serve us. Im used to this behavior a lot of places I go, judging my friend and I based of her skin color or mine.... just not right. Ever then, if it was based off of how we were dressed it was the middle of summer in arizona, and literally not a single person there helped us out. Not even a glass of water.

A variety of tasty margaritas and tequilas with a day of the dead Mexican vibe. Very hip and right in the middle of Mill Ave which has many bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Went on Saturday during Tempe Festival of the Arts. Knew about their drinks, but wasnt sure about the food. Food was amazing! We started with chips & guac. Which also came with salsa & pico de gallo. All were very good. We all went with the 3 tacos & a side. I ordered the Pork Al Pastor, Fried Avocado and the Chicken Tinga with black beans as the side. Pork was hands down the best, super favorable & the pineapple salsa was yummy. The Fried Avocado was a very close second followed by the Chicken Tinga. All were very good. The beans were creamy and melted in my mouth. The guys had real drinks whereas I just went with a beer. Will definitely be back.

I happened to visit this establishment on Super Bowl Sunday. When I walked in, the place wasnt busy at all. Me and my companion were greeted at the bar right away and then everything went down hill from there. There were 4 people behind the bar and everyone of them pretty much pretended werent there. We had to flag someone down to finally take a drink order. There was a blond waitress who spent the entire duration looking as if the world was gonna end. The gentleman forgot about us when we asked for a food menu. I had to ask the hostess for a food menu. When I gave up and just asked for the check, the same gentleman had the nerve to say my card declined and says that it happens a lot with Chase cards. I know there was no issue with my card because I was able to use the ATM to get money out. While Im not accusing anyone of anything, if youre a minority, do yourself a favor and bypass this place.

Food was decent. Service was great. However, do not get a margarita here. You are over spending for drinks filled with sugar and no alcohol. Stick with a beer and don’t waste your money.

The beer was super crisp! Great job at whoever they use for heating and cooling! The tacos were amazing as well!

Excellent food, even thought about going back for dinner, but didnt want to eat at the same place twice in one day. Definitely going back though. Its in a college town so definitely a relaxed vibe, but lots of families there so dont be afraid to take the kiddos.

This place should be on your list if you visit the area. Great environment and nice outdoor seating area. Food and drinks are good and fair priced for this type of establishment. Location is nice being right in the middle of everything and within walking distance of shops, other eat in bars and nightlife. Definitely stop in and give them a try!

Tacos are amazing! Weve tried almost all of them thru visits everytime I come back to Tempe. The Elote Dip is delicious too. Cool bar/restaurant and huge patio to people watch on Mill

Girl guy ratio was 3 to 25. No energy tonight. Reel in some crowd dancers and fun groups overall somehow because my little brothers 21st birthday was not as energized as I wanted it to be. El hefe didnt have the wild crowd that it needed tonight for this celebration.On a positive note, the bartending and DJ was on point, and overall we had a great time with our gang.P.S. It was also very bright in this club at 1AM which is prime time for dancing. You cant dance as well with bright lights.

I went yesterday afternoon and our server was using the bar counter to do yoga. Used to have good food. When I went with my boyfriend (his first time) the Chicken Tinga tasted different. It didnt have normal sauce. I was a regular here. Been a while since I stopped by, but my boyfriend wasnt impressed with the food either. Whats going on with the food El Hefe?

Place was pretty cool . This really nice bartender helped me out fast but i wasnt able to catch her name but she was an adorable blonde with amazing eyes ;)

Food was pretty good for a lunch spot, but the place was a bit chilly and the service was pretty so-so. I realize the place was empty, and they were probably bored, but be warm and attentive to your clients.

The food was great, but there were a few issues with the service. We sat at the bar, and the bartender wasn’t very friendly. The beer wasn’t very cold and when my girlfriend asked for a glass and limes for her beer, the bartender just gave her a small glass of limes, so she had to ask again for a glass for her beer. Another thing was the plates had dust or something on them, and needed to be wiped clean. The fundido and the tacos al pastor were excellent though. The last thing that was frustrating was they charged a 3% tech fee which I didn’t notice right away. When I asked the bartender about this, he said it was just a fee they add for running the credit card. He also said that he could get his manager and they could take the charge off for me. I didn’t want to be a bother, and my card had already been run so I just told him it was fine. The fact that he said they could take the charge off without any problem makes me wonder why it is even there though. It seems very suspicious to me.

2nd time here. Great photo, great location, lax atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating. Staff was on point and friendly.

Taco Tuesday was amazing! The service was pretty slow though. She kept forgetting our drink, but the tacos were so good! We got two of each just to give them a try! Enjoyed each one! Fried Avocado was great too and the margarita was good too

Very good place with an amazing burrito. First of all - it is huge. If you are starving and want to eat as much as possible take this burrito. It’s full of all you need.The patio is very good as well. Actually, they have a lot of tables inside too. There are a lot of TVs so if you plan to watch game or fight you can relay on them.The staff is unbelievable. Firstly, they’ve made non-alcohol Mojito for free since “it’s just sprite with mint”. Then they’ve made a couple mistake with orders and gave us a free plate of nachos with cheese dip. It was very nice from their side.If I be in that area again and will plan to get burrito up definitely go there.

This place has amazing vibe, a very decent crowd and an awesome DJ. The drinks are little expensive but there is no cover charge or entry fee. Only thing is it is toooo crowded on Friday night.

Just had a very shocking experience here at El Hefe. My sister, our friend and I are here on vacation from South Carolina and they wanted a drink from here so we stopped in. They were asked for their ids which my sister is 25 and our friend is 30. Our server said she never saw a South Carolina id before so she had to go check with her manager. We said alright no problem. The manager comes over to the table and asks whos id it was, which its my sisters. The Manager said “this Id is raised so it’s fake.” Which no it is bent, because she has a two year old who likes to play with everything. My sister says I promise you it’s not fake and the manager proceeds to argue saying “yes it is, and I can call the cops, we will not serve you.” Us in shock since that has never happened before got up and left. The manager didn’t even bother to ask for any proof such as asking for a debit card or credit card with the same name or even ask to scan it. She was very rude and unprofessional. She needs to reevaluate the differences between a real and fake Id.

The food was good. The salad was really good with a excellent spicy sauce. Tacos were excellent in the Fries were very good as well. all in all it was very nice except the music I felt was a little too loud for Wednesday night

Decent tacos. Ok prices. Loud atmosphere so if youre looking to have conversation its not really the best price but if the club scene + decent food is what youre looking for then this might be it. The fried avocado taco though does NOT come recommended. Nasty mush

My friend and I from Ohio wanted to grab a bite to eat after having a great day in Tempe. Unfortunately, upon arrival we were not acknowledged by the waitresses despite them walking past us and making eye contact many times. We ended up seating ourselves after being told dismissively to seat ourselves as we walked by one of the waitresses. After waiting for about 10-15 minutes outside, we watched the waitresses stand by idly while looking at us. Not sure why the wait was so long as the restaurant was nearly empty. We were met with a very rude waitress who took our order. We ordered a margarita and food, got IDd and were then made to wait until a male co-worker asked for our ID again and second formed us. He then leaves to come back to say that the waitress does not feel comfortable serving us because she believes the IDs are fake simply because they have round edges. My friends Arizona IDs literally have round edges so that is not a legitimate excuse and those waitresses IDs probably have round edges too, so I cant understand that explanation. We are well of age being 24 and 26. We have been using our IDs our whole trip in Arizona with no issues and in the whole year that I have been living here, I have never been denied service for a fake ID. Pretty incredible that this was not the only time the servers would kick out out-of-staters according to previous reviews considering Arizona, as a whole state, attracts many tourists from all over the world. I never leave bad reviews until now, so please educate your servers of the difference in IDs of different states for some constructive criticism if you could take anything out of this. If it wasnt for the simple fact that they thought our IDs were fake, it was for the fact that it was the most horrendous service from the very get-go. They were pleased to kick us out and to humiliate us, so for that, everyone will definitely be hearing about this.

Its a nice ambiance when youre there before 8pm on a weekend. Very chill and whats great is that this place gets so fun after 10pm on weekends! Love to stop here on my bar hopping journey and most times make it my first stop!

Atmosphere is nice in the evenings before the crowds hit this place. Lovely decor. Nice set up of everything. Under dressed women isnt always so great when youre trying to eat in a public place but its a nice touch. Tacos Id give a solid 3.5 out of 5. Horchata milkshake didnt really taste like horchata. That queso dip though was pretty damn good. Overall a good first experience. They have a few other things Id like to try on the menu and its a Chicago Bears bar. Thats my hometown team so Ill definitely check it out on GameDay

Good food was great food presentation however service was very substandard I feel I would yet better customer service from Burger King or maybe as my roomate put it my child’s pretend kitchen with playdooFor example we watched people receive 6 margaritas after placing our order before them the server wasn’t to sure what had been delivered and was trying to figure out what to charge us because the service was so slow we were charged more food than what we ordered after I mentioned I didn’t order extra tacos and set them aside and it felt like this while ordeal we were a very low priority.... this may be a nice place but the service could improve or at bare minimum the communication

I was super excited to try this place out their menu looks amazing. I come in at 1030a.m their website says they open at 10a.m. a rude manager says we are going to open in 30 minutes. I say thats fine Ill go down to zips sports grill have a drink and come back. I call back at 11:10a.m. the gentleman on the phone says yes we are open . I pay and walk down to El Hefe and I am greeted by the same rude manager yelling at me that they are not open. Im a very understanding person but rude is rude.. I was not upset until I called and was told they are open and had a rude lady yelling at me for wanting to spend my money at her establishment. Ill pass at this point and never come back or recommend this establishment.

Edit: I had a bad experience last time I visited. Came in the other day. Amazing the staff and security had more respect and were kind and made sure everything was ok. Thanks. Will be coming back again cheers

Food is great! Waitress Nikkiseemed to disappear. Had to ask twice for items. Had to go to bar to get a glass requested twice for a beer served in large bottle. Nikki seemed to be more interested in what was going on elsewhere instead of making sure her customers were waited on in a timely manner. The person bringing the food was more professional than Nikki.

Food is fine but service has been slow on each visit. Ive had to go get a manager on two different visits. The first time we couldnt get anyone to even come over and wait on us. We should have just walked out, but I had a guest in town and he really wanted to try the tacos there. I dont go there anyone because of the poor service.

Girls night out..... We got there then they started the dancing and cleared tables from the center. We got a booth and we were dancing and having fun. Then they kicked us out of our booth because we werent spending enough money..... Very rude.... Wont be going back.

Went there for happy hour and got nachos and two blended margeritas. The food and drinks were great but they charge two extra dollars for the blended version. Assuming they ran their blender for one hour straight it would cost around 12 cents, so I dont know how they justify that. Also they add a 3% tech fee to each order regardless of whether you use a credit card or cash, which people generally adjust by reducing the tip for their wait staff. So while they make more their employees make less.

Horrible experience. I went friday night and the bouncer kept telling me my ID was fake, it wasnt. He also wouldnt give it back to me. He told me to show him my birthday on snapchat like thats a reliable form of identification? And then proceeded to call the police on me and told me I was going to get arrested. The police came, checked out my ID, and confirmed that it was in fact me. And the bouncer did not apologize. A good 45 minutes of my time wasted because of an incompetent bouncer who is incapable of doing his job correctly.With that being said, I will make sure that NONE of my friends or family ever go here.

I’d give zero stars if I could me and my family sat down and even the bartender saw and acknowledged us. Sat down for 15 - 20 mins nobody came to our table, mind you the place was not packed or busy at all. Terrible customer service didn’t even get a menu either. Won’t be coming here again!

Honestly I have never felt discriminated against until my visit to this bar this weekend. Kicked 8 of my friends out for no reason. There security are very rude! For it being the 1st time going there didnt feel welcome at all.

AMAZING STREET TACOS! To be honest, I’ve only been here on the weekends in my college days. I went recently with my husband and daughter and I’m so pleasantly surprised with how great the food was. Service can be a little slow, which is to be expected. Overall great place for cheap but good food and drinks!

There is another El Hefe located in the bar hopping area around Old Town Scottsdale. These places can be a lot of fun.

I used to go here all the time and never had a problem with them, this place has been awesome every time. Unfortunately all this changed with my last visit, so much in fact that Im giving it a one star review. The bouncer at the door ( I dont remember his name) must have been having a terrible day and it reflected in his work. His attitude towards us was so bad that we nearly walked away. After finally getting in and sitting down it took us literally 2 hours to be served our food and the place wasnt even that busy. Hell, Ive been there where the place was packed and got served faster. After all of that my friends food was overcooked. I paid, reluctantly but I did pay but Im not sure Ill be back anytime soon, if ever.

Would be a great meeting plane if you could hear your friends talk over the loud music that is always playing. Patio dining is best for us. Otherwise, great Mexican food. Nachos are big and full of goodness.

The three stars is for the party atmosphere it was so lively. It was party central. Seeing a bar turn into a day party with bottle popping and tons of college kids. We went on a sat in the day. This is a great place for day drinking fun to party and dance like no one is wAtching. The only downside was the food it looked great but my plate was lukewarm and didn’t seem to be cooked all the way. When I asked for a solution I was told they were busy and that was why and then I switched to tacos which were okay. Nothing special here with food . If you are drinking it might be better. But great for the experience.

Came in to try out their Taco Tuesday because I heard the fried avocado Taco was awesome but we sat down on the patio where there was only 3 other tables totaling 8 guests and the 2 servers that had tables on the patio didnt even acknowledge us at all, not a nod, not a hello Ill be right with you, nothing. A food runner said hello but thats it. I work in the service industry and sitting at a table in plain view between 2 other tables for not a hungry guest exaggeration 12 minutes isnt acceptable.

High prices but their avacado taco is delicious. High end margaritas are tasty. Good view of mill ave for people watching. Fun place to dance at night.

Went with a stag. 12 guys, got a booth with bottle service. Pretty basic looking club, good location, fun atmosphere, waitress were very nice and fun. Seemed to be a lot more dudes than girls, not sure if thats typical.

Went by myself this past Tuesday and sat at the bar. The Bartender recommended the alpastor taco and i also had an avocado taco, both were delicious. The Chichi Rodriguez margarita was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy, Ill definitely order it again. Atmosphere was really chill.

My $12 margarita was premixed and terrible. The bartender was super rude and started a tab on my card after clearly telling her not to. She then proceeded to ignore me for the remainder of my time there. Will not be going back.

Our first visit to Arizona and this was were our Uber dropped us off so we decided to go right in, we sat outside and enjoyed the view. The waitress was very helpful and running around all over the place making sure everyone had there drinks and food. The Margaritas and mojitos were tasteful so was the nachos with carne asada.We had a great time and next time we come to Tempe we will be back.

Been to Hefe plenty of times to have a few drinks before ASU home games.. The security guys at the front did not let my older (36y.o) brother in today after showing them his DACA ID. They stated it was not an approved ID. Tried to talk these guys and requested a manager. We were denied, they took offense and kicked my friend and I out.. Tim and the Keanu Reeves look a like security guys need to go.What a disappointment!!

Food was really good. We sat outside on the patio which was fun but.. lots of homeless people hanging around out on Mill Ave, right off the patio.

We waited a long time to even get a server to address our table. Then we waited over 30 minutes after eating for our server to come to our table, we wanted our check, so a member of our group went up to our chatty server and asked her to bring the checks, she said ok and then took another 20 mins to do so. Food wasnt amazing, drinks were average. Not worth it and wont go back.

Omg it’s like an amazing club and stuff. Loud thumping subwoofers ensure that the feel of the beat is felt for hours afterwards. Bottle service makes me feel like a celebrity. Underage college kids make for a relaxing and peaceful evening. 10/10 would come again.

This place stinks...literally. We were there at 5pm in the afternoon so not crowded, not busy. The smell is eminating from - the ladies room and permeates the entire bar area. Then...get this, the girls are STANDING ON THE TABLES TO DECORATE THE LIGHTS AND ****DID NOT WASH THE TABLES***!! Ok...clearly this is not a restaurant - its a bar. I realize now... the booths were filthy. I dont know why I stayed to eat...but the food was actually good.

Food is decent, great queso! but.. young women serving customers in lingerie?! I hope the management doesnt require them to dress that way. It made me uncomfortable for them! I get that sexist vibe whenever I go there. I know other female customers that feel the same. Other than that its a nice place, decorated nicely.
