Stopped in today for a wine tasting while out enjoying the local area. The wines were very good. I started with their sparkling Cougar Bubbly, a very good Brut, I recommend it. Finished with the reds that did not disappoint. Covid 19 precautions were in place. I’d like to return to this winery, to experience it at it pre-Covid level. Will and Sean were at the counter offering the tastings and were very knowledgeable regarding the wines, the grapes and the wine making process.
Ive been to numerous wineries around town as a local, and I can say that I like this one the best. Easy going atmosphere, great view, and very friendly staff. We went with our friends who are wine club members. FREE round of tastings up to 4 people, or a free round of glasses of wine for up to 4 people, plus discounts on food. They have a great selection of tasty wines, plus a couple beers on tap for those who dont love wine, or if you just want to switch it up. Waitress was very informative about the wines and her recommendations were spot on. They have an in house Boars Head deli, which I love. My fiance and I shared a pizza and with our free tastings got out of their for $12.50 + tip! UNREAL! We had just arrived there from Ponte winery and they got us for $60.00 for a round of drinks. We signed up to be club members as well and have already made a reservation to return. Looking forward to many days / nights at this amazing winery.
On October 25, 2020 my husband and I went to the winery. We had 12 noon reservations. When we arrived we were seated at a table outside right by the door where the servers and customers walk in and out of constantly. We asked to move to another table but was told that the other 8 tables were reserved for the same time. When I made the reservation I was never given a choice of a certain table. I wasnt offered that option, but others were. As we continue with the wine tasting we notice that the tables we asked to move to never were occupied. After 30 minutes another party came in. They were given a choice of anywhere they wanted to sit. Matter of fact they moved to 3 different tables. When I asked about the empty tables and never being offered to change seats, I was told that there were 6 no shows. I further explain that there were 8 tables available away from the door plus 1 with an umbrella (since it was raining) that we could have been offered since there were no shows and the other party had options. Management offered an extra tasting and brownie, since it was my birthday. I looked around and saw that we were the only people of color there and we were the only ones being treated differently. My husband paid for the tasting and we left. We went to another winery that was very crowded but very accommodating. I gave them 1 star because our server was nice.
The wine was great, however the customer service was horrible. Stood around for 15 minutes trying to pay for our tasting and order wine to be delivered. They blew a $200+ sale because of it. Only reason I didnt give 0 stars is because that option wasnt available. It really is sad because they have great wine and Im not a wine fan.
First time back in 10 plus years...So my review is based off of 2019 and they no longer have a tiny Little shack tasting room (Nothing wrong with that). Now they have a great view with lots of seating to enjoy the view. Plenty of seats, so bring your friends and family. They have a Deli, but not just any DELI. Really great tasting food. Good salads, great Pizzas, awesome sandwiches, great appetizers.....and wait for it !!!!Great Price ! And they serve Bores Head but dont overcharge like most places. The best part about this Place ?.They serve Craft Beer, ON TAB. Yes they serve local craft beer from Black Market on tab.
Came early, 1 day prior to my reservations. They served my husbands wine and they sat us down. My husband then went to bar to order my wine, they asked if we were part of the wine club. We said no and the lady mentioned she had to charge me for the wine glasses...1st of all, why Would I expect to get free glasses of wine? My husband thought she meant that the wine glasses were compted but she made sure to correct him and that she would be keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesnt steel the wine glasses.Quite frankly, just RUDE! We have enough problems and rudeness at home, came here to escape!! Shame on you Cougar Winery because we just signed up for Sommerset winery Wine Club, this could have been your SALE but you have RUDE staff that do not care about hospitality and how important 1st impressions are!
Service was amazing and the wine was delicious. The view is also gorgeous and relaxing.
Good wine, as one would expect. Large estate with gorgeous views. Prices are reasonable. Staff is mostly nice with a couple exceptions. Do not talk to that older middle Eastern lady at the deli. She is way too busy for you, just save yourself the process of being blown off. She has to be the owner or something. No paid employee could be that rude and get away with it for very long. Once they start serving you, theyre great, but dont stand at the counter waiting for them to come, youll be standing there forever. Go find someone yourself.
Loved my experience here! The wine was phenomenal. Susan gave us great service and was a wealth of knowledge. She truly put a stamp on our visit, 100% would recommend checking them out!
Food was great, wine was great, so was the service. Nice view of the valley on the patio, safe social distancing!
We had a wonderful experience at this vineyard. A great selection of quality wines for tasting at a good price. You also get a wine glass with your tasting which was a fun treat. The servers were warm and welcoming. They talked with us as if we were life long time friends and gladly answered any questions we had. We also ate lunch here which was a delightful treat.I have been to Vineyards and tastings for years and this place is at the top of my list. Highly recommend for anyone local or those visiting from out of town.
Good wine, good food, and music on a Friday night - you couldnt ask for more!
Great day enjoyed the company
Good wine. Good appetizers. Nice ambiance. Beautiful view.Find a table, order a charcuterie and cheese plate then enjoy your wines.
We had a wonderful bridal shower on the outside picnic tables this afternoon. Planning was smooth and easy, and we were so pleased with the service and attention. The food was delicious! The varietals of wine suited all palates. We highly recommend Cougar Winery. Thanks for a great event!
Really enjoyed this place. Great wines - all Italian which seems like a better match for this climate than French varietals. Good customer services and gorgeous seating views. Great beer for folks who aren’t into wine and a really good deli.
Have only been here for 30 minutes on a busy Sunday afternoon and was treated like I was a bother when I went to order some water and a beer. The two stars I gave it was because of the good music entertainment. This is my first time here and what a bad first impression
Probably our favorite winery in Temecula. Great wine, great views, great service, and great food (they have some kind of special pizza oven that makes amazing pizzas... you have to try one!).
As a local I really appreciate the casual atmosphere and the fun vibe from this local favorite. Wines are delicious and foods is good. Our favorite place to go after a long day at work.
Atmosphere, people, food and wine are all great!
The bubbles and Sean are the best! A little off the beaten path but well worth the visit. Also sandwiches at the deli are delicious
Friendly staff who know their wines and serve them with objective detachment. Great tasting experience, enhanced by a no-pressure, drink what you like approach. Sipping my favorite while overlooking the quiet, verdant vineyard made for a perfect afternoon. Dont miss the great selection of deli sandwiches, salads, and pizzas, either. Would repeat.
Great little winery. Through my enjoyed lunch and a bottle of good wine while relaxing in the Adirondack chairs.
I’m a member at Cougar and love coming here for a quick after work glass of wine or with friends to share a bottle. The deli has exceptional boar’s head finds to fit any foodie’s palette - their “Bianca” pizza is reminiscent of the pies you’d find in NYC
Great food and wine
This winery has a such a cool view. If you arrive early in the morning you parking can be found close by.There are inside or outside sitting areas. Very nice views. There is a 6 flights of wine tasting for $12 or $17 for 6 flights of wine tasting and the glass is yours. The food is good and my favorite wine was the Peach Sangria.
Producing some of the harder to find varieties and always done tastefully, which has made them a favorite of mine. I’m a club member who prefers reds but they also produce spectacular whites that should not be ignored. A must stop!
Their wines are different in that they are of Italian roots. They offer a nice selection of snacks. Also good. My only gripe is with the whole industry charging unreasonable tasting fees. Ill drink at home.
I have been here twice. Ive enjoyed both times and plan on going back again. The pizza is good and not expensive. Its a very relaxing winery and staff are friendly.
Good wine and food. Parking can be limited though.
We hosted my daughters first communion lunch in their barrel room last year. The atmosphere was great but the service was terrible. They made us feel less important because they had a larger party coming in after us. The server got sick of giving us water and told my daughter she could get it from the pitcher in the deli herself. She then told us that she could only accept a tip in cash. My friends were with us and they were looking for somewhere to host 50 people for their daughters baptism. when they pulled up they loved the place but by the time they left said no way and went to Thornton.
The first time I went to Cougar Vineyard back in 2012. The ambient was a little busy and there wasnt a lot of seating around. But the options for tasting were great and very delicious also the staff was helpful. So for our Anniversary I knew I wanted to take my husband to this place. They didnt let me down the options were fantastic and the whole place has changed in they no longer have the wine barrels all around and there is plenty of seating. They have also added a new option called Dolce Bubbly its awesome. Looking forward to go again soon.
Im a red wine drinker. All the red wines here are above the bar.
Great experience!! The staff was nice & extremely hospitable, Chris & Skippy made myself and the 9 other guest i was with feel right at home! They have a great sparkling wine selection and the deli food was marvelous! we will definitely be back. Thanks everyone!
I nice and surreal atmosphere not so crowded and the wine tasting were amazing good!!
Good wine and great food. What else can you ask for.
Its a circus and the operations manager (Skip) is an ass!!Was a member and I will never go back. The last time I was there I had my wife in a chair and I was sitting on the arm of the chair. In my opinion, a winery should be a calm relaxing place to relax and enjoy wine and food. If I wanted to go bar hopping I can go to Front street.
Amazing winery. Great people and even better wines. A must join!
Amazing wine, service and atmosphere. Their wine club is the best around.
Good wine, good deli and reasonably priced food. Great views and daily deli specials.
Fantastic!
What winery can you go to where the owners are there to visit with. Wine is wonderful, the new craft workshop is fantastic.
Went ! tonight with a friend the wine was very good. the food is very reasonably priced and was very good .highly recommend it will go back again
This place had excellent cheaper good options than the other locations we went to that day, which was much appreciated. The wines were just okay, but werent overpriced for the tasting.
In depth tour and class on wine making. From the vineyard to the vinter, 2.5 hour of detail woven through the fabric of tasting 14 varieties. Very well done and well worth the class fee and time expended. Patty and I had a great time. What fun way to celebrate 30 years of marriage!
Sean and Jim know wine and I always trust their recommendations. Beautiful setting and friendly atmosphere
The people at the Cougars Winery is so nice and friendly and the meals are so great specially the pastrami sandwich
Service was horrible, Susan walked past me 14 times! Yes, I actually started to count. Wine is good but I will never buy a bottle. If you are not a member I would not bother.
Friendly, knowledgable staff, excellent Old World style/flavor wines.
Great wine, great food and service
Great place to eat. Very affordable
Our favorite wine tasting experience in Temecula, the staff was super friendly, wine was delicious, in house deli made fabulous pizza, and they have beautiful grounds to relax on while you enjoy your wine. It seems like $15 prepaid is the norm for tastings in these parts (much different from Sonoma) and Cougar made the tastings go far. We got half price for checking in online and they took good care of us the whole time we were there. We got our tastings and relaxed in the sun outside with our dog, taking in the beautiful views of the mountains. Cant wait to go back!
Great place. Staff (owners) very nice and knowledgeable. Jon the wine club!! Loved the gift shop.
Rick runs a great place here with a deli inside and shaded seating all around outside.
Excellent Peach Sangria, nice deli, good food, wine bar staff very nice, buy a glass and a bottle they will fill your glass. All good except guy in the deli with a buzz haircut, douche.
Knowlegable, friendly, great deli, views, and stright up! Good Wine Selections!!!
Very good wines.. and reserves..great and informative staff
If you were lucky enough to snag their TravelZoo Deal than kudos to you. If not this place is still a fine winery to visit! The Deal:Travelzoo subscribers can take a 2.5-hour tour through Cougar Vineyard & Winery in Temecula -- complete with a wine class, vintage tastings and complementary appetizers -- for $29 per person. An experience that would regularly cost $150, this package saves visitors $121 on the regular price. The tour and wine seminar are led by the winerys owners and include:* A tour through the vineyard and winery that details the art behind wine making, including planting, harvesting, crushing and bottling* Eight wine tastings that take place throughout the tour* A wine tasting class that educates guests on the different flavors, grapes and vintages* Artisanal cheeses, salami, chocolates and baguettes that complement the wines and expand the wine education (offerings subject to change)The Reality:2.5-hours of getting tipsy off some tasty ass wine!!*Yes we toured the vineyard, but its the winter its just twigs and branches not a lush field of bountiful grapes.*It said 8 wine tastings but it was more like 12 so kudos. The more the merrier and they were stingy with the tasting amounts ^_^*We did learn the etiquette for storing, tasting and holding your wine. Which was really cool since Ive been doing everything completely wrong for years. (Hold for the stem of the glass, dont store reds in the fridge and make circular motions with your wine to get the wine peculating)*Vegetarian so I enjoyed the Artisanal cheeses (one cheese type to be exact a semi-hard nutty white cheese the name escapes me) and the baguette. The bread was warm and delicious the cheese nutty and paired well with one of the many wines we tried. No chocolates :(Overall GREAT AMAZING deal and experience. The staff was helpful. Our tour guy was charming and my boyfriend and I learned a great deal. We even purchased a bottle to take home. Love the wine here would want to go back when the grapes are out and about.
Meh. The wine was generic. The food was so-so. The music was so loud it was hard to even place an order. Not worth the trip.
Fabulous wine, food and views.
Good food and excellent wine.
