Movie crew is nice. Concession food is good. Decent prices for movie and food. Major improvement in the theater. Very clean. Cant wait for another movie date
This place is a church now (non-denominational). Preacher was good, but the sound system was loud. Nice interior refurbishment.
Really liked the renovation that they did in theater 1. Saw rise of the skywalker here. Great prices on everything. Popcorn and a coke combo deals for 6 bucks. Man running the desk was really nice. I would definitely come here over westshore anytime. Support the local smaller theater because when they are gone ....they are gone
Its not theater any longer. Its Radiant Church! Great worship service.
Church or movie theater? Does not have a lot of info about that. It was very confusing. Movie times online doesnt match their actual movie times... There was no one on the concession stand / Church reception? Whats going on there??
Have always loved this place...small, inexpensive, and never packed, but today was ridiculous. Only one worker, movie was 30 minutes late starting, the projector repeatedly failed ruining the movie and waited 10min (with no one in front of me) for a popcorn refill mid-movie. If you really want a nice experience you just have to pay more elsewhere.
They use to have great movies at great prices now I do t know what they doing!
They put new recliners in to make you more comfortable and prices are great for families that dont want to spend a ton of money on popcorn and drinks. Great place to go see movies at. Ill be back.
The movie theater looks beautiful they has really been upgraded the recliners are very comfortable everything is really nice I enjoy it when I go with my grandchildren recommended to any families to take the kids... you cant beat the price $12 to go see the movie with my grandson this evening where you going to get that price.
Used to be one of my favorite theaters, the staff there is really cool and nice, but then they got bought out by a church and its not the same anymore. They kicked out the Rocky Horror cast that was here and everything else is just not as good as it used to be. I miss old Britton 8 but Ill probably go back once the church sells it to someone else.
Went to absolute poop after radiant church bought them and kicked out the shadow cast. Don’t ever go back here if you miss it or want the nostalgia. I’d never recommend this theater again in my life, no matter how cheap it is. I’m sure there will literally always be a better alternative.
I love my Church
We were actually at the church in the old theater with friends!! Highly recommend!!!
Great seats. Cheaper than Amc and Great experience!!!
Awesome, not the old theater that I grew up with, but many upgrades and combined contemporary church / theater .
Worst movie experience. Sound system is crazy. No sound at all. Theatre is worst, recliners not working. Its everything wrong with the theatre.
First run movies and concessions at an affordable price. Owner is a sweetheart.
Great seating for movies never packed no taxes because its a church owned property
The Britton 8 is a great place to see a movie. The theatre has been renovated and it is clean, bright and the ladies room/lounge is very spacious and accommodating. The ticket prices and concession stand are a great value. Movie night for two with popcorn and 2 drinks was only $22.00. Additionally the evening manager was friendly and kind and truly appreciative that we came. Great experience for the money.
The staff is nice and the viewing of the movie was decent but you get what you pay for. The tickets are cheap but so is the seating and the food isn’t that great.
This is no longer a movie theater with 8 screens. It is a huge Mega-Church with a 1 screen theater ran by an India(n) company which is barely hanging on. The church has been in place since 2013 and has slowly engulfed the theater, gutted it and has left 1 cinema alone. How the 1 screen hangs on is beyond me but I was told the Pastor and India(n) owner have known each other for some time. Avoid this place, as it has a very limited option for movies. Even the 1 screen has church items littered in front of the screen as well as the back. Video Projection is okay at best.If you do come to see a movie, DONT come on a Sunday! The parking is overtaken by the church goers and block the entrance to the theater with a booth and send a tram out to pick up people who have parked in other businesses spots making Britton Plaza shopping a further nightmare. To sum up, this was a nice place to watch first run movies when General Cinema Corporation (defunct, now AMC) and Regal Cinemas (now Regal Entertainment) ran the theater. Now, 1 is the loneliest number that theyll ever do.
Was great until they took the actual seats out. They boasted about fancy recliners yet their biggest theater has 10 recliners. Yes. 10. I just watched a group of teens have to sit on the theater floor to watch a movie that had a msugy filter on it. Nobody should pay for that.
I love the new seats very comfortable now if it can be more movie selection then only two it would be on a popping
Britton 8 also serves a worship center for Radiant Church that largely served millennials. The church and theater are separate venues. The facility has been very nicely renovated
The place have nice shopping storages, but really need to be rebuild. Take care of the parking for example.
1st time there...AWFUL!!! Nobody at door/counter had 2 roam around - see manager on phone but i didnt know he was...elevator NOT working so I go upstairs ONLY 2 be told go back down - i start 2 leave & manager gets off phone & says how may i help you?...smdh!!! Finally got 2 see Breakthrough it was truly AMAZING, plz go see this movie NOT at Britton some place else though...LOL
Nice place friendly staff
Very good words to hear, but have to want to hear the message.
Im not sure if this a movie theater or a church?, its weird.
This is perhaps one of the last good small family owned movie theaters. Went with some buds, literally brought back major nostalgia of skipping high school to go catch a movie back in the 2000s.Passing through Tampa, glad I gave this place a visit! Great prices on tickets, good concession deals, nice 90s feels.Staff is totes high speed, super friendly, and rocked my socks off.Love it. Love it. Love it. If I lived here - Id hit it weekly!
Been here 2 times in past 2 months, EACH time someone comes in with a group of kids, and the kids are not stop talking and disturbing the movie. And the person with them doesnt do a thing to quiet them, or is on their phone. What happened to the starting reel of silence phones and be quiet during movie?? Management need to check in during movies to make sure people arent being disruptive.
A great bargain. $6.50 ($5 for active or retired military) to see a new release movie. Affordable prices for concessions. Excellent service by the friendliest people. You can take the whole family out to see a movie without breaking the bank.
Horrible service, they basically accuse you of lying about buying tickets if they didnt witness you themselves the guy who sold me my tickets was cleaning the theatre, so the other kid pretty much accused me of trying to sneak in. Them they leave the door open so light streams in. The clientele that go here are rude. Always on their phones and no one says anything. You feel dirty when you leave. This place doubles as a church, and Im pretty sure even god doesnt show up there. This place is gross. I promise you, spending more money at a different theatre thats clean, with less ghetto is worth it.
We love Radiant Church
Same management and very cozy in the theatre
Many stores to shop from. You must stop by Once Upon A Chlid, they have good selections of name brand clothing at great prices.
It it no longer a movie theater it is now a church that at times will play a movie
Are we good church lots of Family Programs
Britton 8 is awesome... if you can handle an old theater in need of some repairs and a good cleaning. $5 for a new release is unheard of ($6.50 if paying with card, $5 cash). The seats are squeaky and kinda suck, the place does smell a little odd, and the movies can start 10 minutes late, but its right in the middle of South Tampa, and is a perfect spot to cool off during the ridiculously hot summer were having. If Im off work on a weekday, youll probably find me there catching a 1pm show. Looking forward to seeing what the renovations bring.
I hate to say it...I dont go there because they pay rent to Radiant Church and I and my friends had to stop going there because of that. Radiant talks a great game but they bought out the theatre and its gone down hill. The guy that runs the theatre is so nice and the staff is great... but now it only feels like a Radiant. My friends have told me they stopped going because of problems they had with Radiant and I was surprised to hear so many others had problems with them... i thought it was just me.if you still support this theatre (and you should) dont hold the sins of Radiant against them.
Britton 8 movie theater has weathered the storm through the decades, under multiple owners and film formats and is still standing. That is a testament to its service in the community. Check out first run movies for the best price in town. Theres no reclining seats, but in place of that, you get good service with a smile, half the cost and the same movies. You cant beat that!!! Bonus, since its in a plaza, parking is not an issue and there are myriad stores and restaurants to shop in before and after the movie.
Of Course you cannot expect a 5 star hotel for the 2 star price. However, they pop their popcorn so its like back when I was younger. The theater is older but for $5/$6.50 the movie quality and sound is always great. I recommend this theater to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive day out.
Amazing church great place love the atmosphere
Love thos small town style movie theater. Prices are great!
This is a cheap theatre in both cost and quality. The good: matinees are $5 and regular prices are only $6.50. The bad: The place is definitely older and not in the greatest of shape. I think the cost makes up for it though. If there is a blockbuster you want to see with the best sound and screen quality, pay the $13 and go to AMC. If its just something you want to watch on the big screen and arent too picky its a great choice.
A bit crowded but great over all.
Cheap movie theater with cheap food (which is like mind blowing knowing regular movie Theodor food prices) its clean and not that crowded. Perfect Theodor for a cheap guy like me Matinee Prices:Until 5 PMEveryone - $5Evening Prices:Students: $5.00Seniors: $5.00Military: $5.00Adults: $6.50
Excellent, good location, remodeled.Sweet spot, good prices, fresh made popcorn. Umm tasty.
Best and cheapest theater in town.
Best kept secret! This cute little theater is clean and offers inexpensive tickets as well as concessions.
The Britton has renovated and looks great. The people are super nice! REALLY, REALLY great value - cant wait to come back!
Walked in mo ticket check.. could of went for free... no signs on where movies are amd the theater was not clean.. still had a great time and a fun date for 14 bucks but not the place to go ti impress anyone.
I had my daughters 10th Birthday Party here and it was everything she imagined it to be! Her and friends enjoyed their move with no problems!!! Mr. Ken really did roll out the red carpet for them!!! recommend this place!! It gets 2 thumbs up from me!!
My children love it plus you cant beat $5 movies. Everyone is friendly and the renovations look really good!!
I love Britton Plaza 8 Movie Theater for a few reasons1. its only $5!!!!2. You dont have to deal with crowds or lines3. Its easy to park4. The food is a lot cheaper than AMCYea its true Britton Plaza is run down and its not a very nice theater but Im so glad I save so much money that I dont even care that its not as nice looking!
Great little gem in South Tampa, has all the current movies at a great price. If you live in South Tampa this theater is locally owned. The staff is friendly and most times the movies rooms are not packed full. Concession price are cheap, I am retired military and I get a discount. Special Hindi movies are shown one day a week, ask for details.
Hear it also doubles as a church so its probably a great place to find Jesus, but to watch a movie? Not so much.
$5 movies and proceeds go to missions trips around the world! Got my business for life!
Great theater. Decent prices.
My daughter and I saw THE GIFT a week ago. She unknowingly dropped a wristlet wallet out of her purse. It had a large amount of cash and drivers license in it. The following Sunday, I went back to see if it was turned in and it had been. All the money was there. I am sure the staff during cleanup found it, but it could also have been someone attending service at Radiant Church that uses the theater on Sundays for their worship service. Regardless, honesty prevailed.
Great place to have a movie night to bring date or family. My kids loved it..real cheap tickets..
The theater is old but customer service and Price are more than satisfactory
Worship was excellent come join us!
I have lived in So Tampa for many years. Britton 8 has been a good place to visit and enjoy a good movie. The prices are great $5.00 and the staff is friendly and go out of the way to help you have agood time. It has been taken over by Radiant Church and shares its space. Over the next several months, the movie theatre will get a make over. The outside area has been repainted and the entrance area is being updated some. The lobby and main bathrooms are being redone from top to bottom. Everything is being replaced. They are offering FREE kid movies every tuesday at 1030a till end of the summer. Go by and check out the process. You will be surprised.
Could do a much better job with the place. Great location but seems run down
I love this place the staff is so nice great prices for people with large families like myself free refills too lol......
I love visiting when I come to Tampa
I live on a fixed income and do not have money to waste.I still enjoy an outing that does not break the bank. In a world where you have to take out a loan to go out, Britton 8 is a breath of fresh air.
I take my Daughter here all the time. She sometimes doesnt make it through movies that are too loud or scary. At a regular movie theater, I throw away over $50. Here, we spend $20. Yes, its old, and not very clean sometimes. BUT, they have the latest releases and its cheap! Also, they have a kids special on popcorn, drink and candy for $7 or $9. All in all, not the luxury experience, but a great place for someone who takes their kids to the movies regularly. Love this place!
Great movies at a great price. Food prices are very reasonable.
Great pricing. Could use a little makeover though, carpet and updated restroom facilities but I guess thats how they can afford to keep the pricing down. Give and take.
Ive been going to Britton 8 since I was a wee lad. Best Bawling on a Budget. 1st run movies are $6.50; $5 for military/student. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Seats may not be the best, but theyre half price of AMC, so who cares. Got a big family or a birthday? Britton might be your answer.
I dont know when these good reviews are from but I went in March of 2016 and I was thoroughly disappointed.Yes, they have cheap movie tickets, however the theater was musty and gross. It was hot and felt like there was no air conditioning. The theaters are numbered with scraps of paper written on with Sharpie. The whole movie theater entrance smelled of smoke. The movie started late (other people in the theater told me that was a norm there). The projector was dirty.I wont be going back
Its been completely renovated by Radiant church and its an even better place now to watch movies!
Terrible service, terrible environment, no heat, duct taped chairs, and clutter everywhere.
Currently being renovated, bathroom is a lot nicer now. Renovations should be done by mid to late summer, but still worth going now
Love this place and the employees are so kind.
Candy is reasonable priced, workers are friendly and Movies are Top Quality!!! Its so awesome you might want to keep it a secret, but others will praise you for sharing this opportunity...
Britton 8 is like any other theater.1. Great prices 2.huge good quality 3. fantastic food.
Cheap, cheap and cheap! So it smells musty when you walk in, the seats are pretty awful but did I say cheap...yes its worth the $5-6.50 price. Sound and screen quality is great. Saw Jurassic World there and saved at least 10 bucks. Just do yourself a favor and dont bring a date, cause you dont want to be that cheap! Lol
Its a ghetto nice spot. I spend $20 on tickets, popcorn and a drink. Cant find that anywhere. Reminds me of Brooklyn. Seats really suck, but the screen quality is good. Go to AMC if you bougie.
Vintage atmosphere. Best popcorn-2nd to NONE. Few amenities, but I still have lots of love for this Classic South Tampa spot.
Great prices, picture, people & sound. Affordable fun family night out.
$5 movie tickets cant be beat. The facilities are definitely due for an upgrade, but there are renovations going on now.
Unfortunately, very disappointed. I understand it is a budget theater but the upstairs viewing room needs attention. Dirty and with many brown chairs. Awful.
They have really cleaned this place up...great bargain
Dont ever go to this theatre. Worst sound effects
To the clown who called it cheap, yes youre correct. But Ill takeit for 1/2 price. By the way its theater, not theatre. Ass Clown!!!!
I love this movie theater the people are awesome and i can just be there all day watching movies
Affordable prices and good sizeFriendly staff and clean. The chairs arent the most comfortable but its never really packed so you can put your feet up and kick back nd relax.
The staff, The movies, and the price is awesome...... Been going there since Moved to So.Tampa, about 8 years ago....Love it...
This place is the perfect movie theatre. I think its great how it is. Service is pleasant and always with a smile. I wish they still used the ticket booth. I honestly have increased my trips to theatre because of how affordable and cozy it is there. I hope they never close down. The fact that the picture quality is slightly less than of a place like amc or cobb makes it better, and for some reason makes you feel like youre actually there, which is great, especially for horror movies or any film with great acting. I dont know how, but it really brings out creepiness and makes you feel like youre actually there, unlike any mainstream theatre. If there was one word I would descibe this place itd be: vintage. I rated this place 5/5 because I couldnt make it 6/5. You wont be disappointed.
Its an old school theater. Been going since I was kid and I personally love it
Good affordable prices,1 admission is $5It could be a little more cleaner though
Great place to take kids for first run movie very affordable; old theater but shabbychic
Im not understanding some of you. you want to pay for something cheap but you want it to be perfect. you dont pay for a 79 pinto and expect it to run like a mercedes.good job Britton 8...i enjoy your movies
I go to church here. Radiant Tampa is the best church on the planet! :)
If youre interested in paying ten dollars for abiance, crowded lines, and over-priced food Britton 8 is not your place. If youre interested in paying five dollars to see the movie you wanted to see with the option of popcorn and no crowds- Britton 8 is your place! Boycott over-priced movies! Stop rewarding AMC for gauging for money. Support a local theater!
Friendly, helpful staff with a beautiful, spacious, and very clean womens washroom. I went for Rocky Horror, and never imagined the venue would be so nice.
Workers were very rude. Talking on the phone while we were trying to get our tickets. And cussing at whoever they were talking to. Would not recommend this place at all. Will not return.
