Beautiful scenery! Antelope Island is way cool! We hoofed it down to the beach to swim and paddle board. A truly unique experience we are not likely to forget anytime soon. Floating in the salt water is a completely unique experience unlike any where else. Beware of the stink and the bugs, but otherwise an unforgettable experience!
$15 to enter the park for a quick dip in the Great Salt Lake. The brine smells and the brine flies and mosquitos were a tremendous problem. Take and use bug spray. The showers require quarters to operate at the beach access area. Nice sunset though!
Perfect spot for an inland swim. It was a long walk down a sandy slope and across to the water, presumably due to prolonged drought conditions. The experience of swimming in the Great Salt Lake was worth the trek. It was super fun to float and play in the shallow water. Lots of flat rocks, good for skipping. Be prepared for the brine shrimp and cold outdoor showers for rinsing off. There are also coin operated showers in private stalls.
What a great place. Was home on leave and we took the trip. Had a blast. Buffalo and Miskitos with the fish stink. You have to go. It’s sounds gross but it’s a fun adventure. Your kids will talk about this for a long time. Drive around then get out and hike the hills. You will have a great time if you take in all there is to see. Pack a lunch and enjoy the trip just take the trash with you. It’s clean and please keep it that way.
Very nice area. Great view.
One of the best beaches in the state.
This beach is so interesting. The water is very salty and made me itch. The sand had rocks all throughout it and it is very difficult to walk. There was actually foam along the beach (evidently a surfactant byproduct from algae). Many small bugs swarmed about but they didnt seem to bite. The water was about 73 degrees. Because the beach is a long, slow descent, it gets deep very slowly. We liked skipping rocks and waded in about a an eighth of a mile. It was a very interesting beach. There are picnic tables along the parking lot. This is not a handicap accessible beach. The waterline is a long walk from the parking lot. There are showers and bathrooms here.
A bit of a walk from the parking to the water. It looks like the water had receeded over time. Bathrooms and showers available by the parking. Yes you can float in the water. A lot of teeny bugs at the shoreline. But fascinating how they moved in dense swarms flying just over the ground.I think it was $10 to enter the park per car.Beautiful area. Unique experience. We saw several visitors from Europe. The sun is very radiant at this altitude. Use sun screen.
Great pavilions for picnics. Short walk to the water. Lots of bugs, but the further you go out in the water, the less there seemed to be. Free showers and coin operated showers available for rinsing off ($1/4 min). Also a great place to fly kites.
When you visit Utah its a must to go to Antelope Island. Its beautiful nature makes you feeling Zen.
A very long horrible hot walk from where you park your car to the beach. It’s a waste land. The beach stinks and has billions of gnats in swarms flying all over the place and all over you. The water is shallow and warm. There is absolutely zero shade. We dreaded walking back and I wanted to tell people on their way out to turn back.
Had a relaxing float in the Great Salt Lake. The facilities were clean and well maintained.
Fantastic place to enjoy the scenery of the Great Salt Lake. Not too busy. Well worth the small admission cost.
Very disappointing... water level at salt lake extremely low apparently since 2011 its very dry. Desolate..dry..campground. primitive.. no water only port a pottys..no reception once you pass the bridge. do your research
It’s such an extraordinary to float on the water!
If I could give zero stars I would. Infested with bugs and dead animals. If youve ever wanted to know what the apocalypse will be like, just visit this lake...
You will not find a better place to enjoy a summertime sunset float. I cannot recommend it enough.Check sunset times. Arrive an hour before. Bring drinks, friends, maybe a waterproof camera or a ziplocked phone. Wear your sandals until you reach the beach. Wade out until you cant touch the bottom easily. You dont need to know how to swim. You wont/cant sink; youll float. The water is warm. The brine flies can sometimes be exceedingly numerous. But they dont have any interest in you. If youre squeamish about things like bugs, this might be among those life joys youre just going to have to miss out on. But please be brave instead. The water is salty and your skin will be salty when you get out. Bring quarters for the showers. Youll be glad you did.
TONS OF SPIDERS but otherwise very good.
Enjoyable outing for family time.
Why would anyone want to go here?! im guessing locals who have never been to an actual beach. The place is completely covered in flies and other insects and smells like dead animals. Add to that an incredibly long walk to the beach (not sure it should even be called that) and this made for one terrible day for our kids. If you are in to millions upon millions of flies swarming around you and the smell of dead animals, then this will be a blast, otherwise find something else. Worst $10 we ever spent.
After swimming at Bridger Bay I realized why so many people have a negitive attitude towards swimming in the Great Salt Lake. This is generally where they have done it. I love swimming in the Great Salt Lake! But the deep mud in the bottom in the bay and the excessive amount of brine flies (probably because of the muddy bottom) contributed to this not being the best experience. There are better places, Saltair is a great place!
Not much here, at least when we were here. Its a beach access to a dead beach full of flies. You will find dead seagulls and swarms of flies feeding on dead sea organisms.
Kinda smelled, but it was beautiful.
Loved floating in the saltwater.
Good place to see nature
This place has great views. However, be prepared. There are swarms of little marine insects, and you need to walk about half a mile on sand to get to the lake.
Yes! I like it..
Great address to visit on Antelope Island
Beautiful
Amazing displays
Beautiful
A lot of flies ;)
Really hot, way too many swarms of bugs and water is receded so far its a trek just to get there.
