Absolutely beautiful when the roses are in bloom, but still neat to walk through year round.
A beautiful respite in the city! I walk through Thornden Park once a week or so and always stop in the rose garden to see whats blooming. They have benches and a water fountain, which is great mid-walk/run. The garden is cared for by volunteers, and you can tell how much they care. Its a great place to bring visitors or kids - theyll love to run down the paths like a maze and see all the different colors. Even when the roses arent in bloom, its still a nice place to sit.
Just amazing this summer.
Beautiful serenity and gorgeous for pics and walks
We visited the garden at the end of July and there werent many roses in bloom, but the place itself is worth to visit in any season for their beautiful design. There is a free parking lot across the street on the weekends and up to the park road there are plenty of spaces for parallel parking. Just next to the garden there is a nice hiking path and picnic tables. The public washroom in the park about 15 minutes walk from the garden.
So many different colors and bushes of roses to see . Some were already out of bloom and new ones were blooming. The only negative thing is parking is very hard to find and very limited. this is a must-see in the summer and late spring--there are so many different varieties of roses, you can spend a couple of hours making your way around, smelling them all (they dont all smell the same!)
Well kempt gem of a place in Syracuse. Lots of roses and other varieties of flowers in the garden.
Best to visit end of May!
My opinion may be a bit lop-sided because I am a member of the Syracuse Rose Society. BUT the E.M. Mills Rose Garden is a lovely place and I love to work there with the other members of the our Society. Come visit in mid to late June to see the roses at there best! Magic does exist!
Really wonderful ! When the roses are in full bloom and your downwind, you can smell the roses almost 1/4th mile away!
Very nice place to stop!
Great place for walking and next to the Syracuse University
Beautiful early summer visit. Located in an unassuming but nice park.
So many different colors and bushes of roses to see .
Beautiful free garden to spend an hour walking around
Stunningly beautiful garden
THIS PLACE IS THE FREAKING BEST!!! Wish I could live their! What an awesome idea!!!
Nice rose garden for the local people. No need to make a special trip though.
We had our wedding ceremony here at the end of June. There were still Roses in bloom. Great place for wedding pictures too. Very affordable. The gazebo is large and provides shade. Only downfall is the monument that they placed right in the middle of the gazebo floor. It would be better off to the side for ceremony purposes.
Nice spot, parking sucks, but overall worth a visit.
Beautiful even when not in bloom.
Nice and beautiful garden!
So beautiful!

Blooming rose garden whats not to love

Nice place to walk to on lunch break, good hill to walk and beautiful garden views!
Not all the roses were open yet, but the ones that are look nice! Just be careful to pay attention to parking signs - it was busy and the normal parking was full, so we parked near some other cars and we all got tickets.
Super historic Rose garden run by volunteers of the oldest continually running rose society in the US- the Syracuse Rose Society. You dont need to live in Syracuse, we come from all around. Join today!
This garden is amazing when the roses are blooming. It is a must see if you like roses.
Ranked second best Rose garden in the nation according to a placard in the park dated 2011. Ive been going here every time I visit SU since I was a student 13 years ago, and its in the best shape Ive ever seen it.
