My nephew and I come here for Pokémon Go. This place is packed with gyms and stops for the avid Pokémon Go player.Plus, my neice and nephew enjoy the water features, art pieces and the interactive features that are available. And my Uncle likes to fish at their pond. There are also several picnic areas available to the public and one area even has ceiling fans in the outdoor space. A great place to enjoy lunch!

Unexpected light show with music in peaceful, well maintained park. Nice smooth concrete waking trail with other interesting artwork and scenery, refreshing for central Illinois

Amazing scenery along the wide walking path. Lake for fishing on the southern end. Indoor Pavilion and many outdoor ones.

Southwind Park is relatively new and very well kept. There are multiple playgrounds, a stocked pond, a splash pad and plenty of places to sit. Several pavilions offer space to gather and there are bathrooms that are clean and accessible. The paths in the past are smooth concrete, making it great for strollers, bikes, and wheelchairs. I feel like this is probably the best park in Springfield if you are in a wheelchair. The downside to it is that this park is pretty out of the way, being on the southern edge of Springfield.

Beautiful park! Kudos to the Springfield park and rec department. We did not reserve a pavilion in advance, but when we found one that was not occupied, we were able to see via an updated easy to understand posting that the were no scheduled reservations for that specific pavilion at the time and date that we were there, so we could confidentiality relax and enjoy without the concern that we could be encroaching on someone elses reservation. There was even info of how to make a reservation for next time, so we can reserve our favorite pavilion. What a great system! Plenty of space for social distancing as we were there during covid Fall of 2020.

This park is a cool concept but it seems like they stopped before they were finished developing it. Its got a pond, two playgrounds, a simple splash pad, a large gazebo for groups, a tree house, a nice field, a path for walking or riding, and even a dance pad. What it is missing is shade, picnic areas close to the playgrounds and permanent bathrooms!

My client with Alzhiemers loves being outside and looking at nature. One of her passions is music and she loved the music dome. We danced and laughed which is so important for stimulation and social interaction with ones with dementia related disorders. We love the flat and well maintained paths that makes me as a caregiver feel safer bringing her here to reduce risk of falls. Thanks for a beautiful, inclusive park.

I always forget about this place due to its location. You just cant see it from the major thoroughfares. That aside this is one of the nicest parks in the region. Ample parking. Clean and well maintained grounds. Room to spread out and run around. The pavillion is an added bonus for larger more formal functions.

Love the place.. perfect for weddings or large group events! A few months ago we were able to have the suicide walk here and they let my group lead the way.. they supported us because the loss of our friend was still fresh so they wanted to do as much as they could for us. Its also a great place for kids to run around and play

There is a splash pad that allows kids to splash around in water in the summer months. There are are two playgrounds with padded flooring and a stocked pond to fish off the dock. There is a tree house that overlooks the entire 80 acre park. They use green energy to heat/cool the one building they have. There are trails/sidewalks all over to walk on. It is a lovely park.

This park is highly underutilized in my opinion. There is a great big open space meant for large public gatherings and events that I dont see being used for that purpose. Its a beautiful park with a lot of great walking paths that go by small memorial gardens donated by individuals or groups from the local Springfield community. The trees planted are still young so there isnt a lot of shade to hide from the sun on very sunny and hot days. But in a few years that wont be the case.

Attended a wedding reception here. Couldnt believe the 6 foot tall weed overgrowth in the parking lot. The rest of the park was well tended. Though not the fault of the park, I was burned by a caterer who was stirring a chafing dish and sloshed hot water all over my arms, dress and legs because he didnt secure the food container prior to stirring. The food container ultimately sent the heated water splashing out from under it and all over me. I was handed paper napkins to dry the water running down my limbs and soaking through my dress.

Absolutely love this park. Great area, things to do, pawn is beautiful and its supper kid friendly. Great idea for the man who made it happen.Only down fall is the park was 24 hour and those of us who work all day and cant get to enjoy a good bike ride or walk would come here and not only enjoy the park but was safe. But the police of the area are not allowing anyone to be here after 10 amd they arent very nice about it or considering to the ppl who work certain hours. Shame on them!
