Went to see Carrie the other night and it was great as always. I was so impressed by the social distancing and how things were handled. I hadnt been to any theater since this all started and I felt so comfortable and even with concessions was comfortable. They were all repurchased and even though pricey, I knew most of the funds were going back to the Gillioz and keeping the doors open!!! There are a few more movies playing this month so I would check them out. You wont be disappointed and I felt so safe even with everything going on.
Best venue! Intimate setting in a historic theatre. My favorite place to see a concert. You will not be disappointed! Downtown location next to great restaurants and nightlife.
I’ve been to multiple events here and it’s always such an incredible place. One of my best friends weddings was taken place here And it was a fantastic event. The Vine has had several dances here throughout the years and every time it’s a great time. Thanks to all the Gillioz employees out there that make it such a great venue!
Went to see Tim Hawkins LIVE. It was awesome. It was my first time ever inside the Gillioz Theatre. It is beautiful although it must be old because the seats are small and very close together. Im barely 5 ft. tall and my knees almost touched the seats in front of me. You had to stand up in order to let people in and out of your row of seats, thats how tight the chairs are. I noticed that there was only one emergency exit in the balcony, which was all the way over on the opposite side from where I was sitting. That made me feel a bit nervous (obvious fire hazard). I dont know how big & tall people can sit in their seats, but they must be able to because the place was PACKED with people who are all different sizes!!! As far as the show was unconcerned, we had a blast. Tim Hawkins was great. It was well worth the money. The show lasted almost 2 and 1/2 hours. I havent laughed that hard in a long time.
Such a classic old theatre in downtown Springfield.Love coming to the Gillioz each Friday after Thanksgiving for the annual Christmas Vacation movie with the boys. It has been a tradition for several years now. Also a very intimate place to see a concert.Great location, great staff and a great overall experience every time.
Superb theatre to see film, live music!! Amazing place for fun!! I went here with my wife on our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed live music of Tim Hawkins thats wonderful. We were very impressed from this location. definitely visit again.
I attend weekly for Hill City Church. The theatre is beautiful but runs on the cold side temperature wise. I imagine it would be a great place to watch a show.
Purchased tickets for theory of a Deadman and still havent received our refund. They say the artist has to issue a statement but when they are rescheduling and you dont know if you could make it with the covid and all they should refund when people could use their money back also in tough times.
Weve been here a few times and it is a great old theater. Seating is comfortable and staff is friendly. Getting in is a chore due to the security check. Be sure to leave your pocket knife at home or in the car or they will confiscate it and you dont get it back.
Great place for a concert. Balcony seats are definitely made for short legged thin people though.
Love the venue, such a beautiful theatre. Seats need updated, but still enjoyed Tanya Tucker!
I attended the Martin Luther King Day March and the ceremony at the Gillioz Theatre was remarkable. What a beautiful theatre with some amazing history behind it!
It was a wonderful show and the overall experience was great. I was very pleased and hope too enjoy many more!!!!
A charming and intimate theatre that delivers classic styling with historical findings of old. Seats are a bit small for 230 pounders like myself but it didnt ruin my show.
Had a chance to see Switchfoot there and it was a great experience. The venue is very nice with some character. The staff was friendly and helpful. The parking was fairly decent. Great place to see a concert.
We went to a Dwight Yoakam concert here and had a great time. Im pretty sure every seat in this venue is good. We were in the last row on the top level and still had a good view of the stage. The sound was a little muffled because of the location of our seats next time I go to a concert here I will sit closer to the stage. Staff and security were very professional. I will definitely be back!
Such a cool theatre, the vibe is awesome and the sound is incredible! If you are thinking of going to a show here, dont think twice. There I literally not a bad seat in the house!
Beautiful theater for the performing arts. This is what I imagine the theater in The Count of Monte Cristo would look like. Its classy, ornate, and reasonably comfortable.
Not a bad seat in the place! Amazing acoustics, and such a beautiful building
My husband, son, dughter-in-law, & Iwent to see Osborn Brothers concert. We were in the balcony but the venue is so small there are no bad seats. Wonderful venue and a great show.
Nice little theater! We would definitely go back. We really enjoyed our evening with Hot Tuna!
This venue is beautiful! The staff are friendly and keep the entry lines flowing wonderfully. The venue is intimate and small while still feeling open and spacious. Ive worked at and been to many concert venues so I can be a little picky... but the Gillioz met all my expectations.
Gillioz is an old theater that has been restored. It looks great inside. We are new to the area and look forward to attending more events at the Gillioz.
Love the theater it is beautiful and not too big we have seen a lot of bands there the sound is great even the performers love it
Went to see Jewel here. Beautiful theater. People are very friendly, acoustics are wonderful. Really enjoy the up close and personal aspect of the theater. As far as handicap accessibility goes, the bathrooms are horrendous. I was in a wheelchair and access was really difficult. Access to the sink was pretty limited for me as well and when its a packed venue like it was for the concert it just almost next to impossible to be able to use the hand dryer. Had to just wipe my hands on my jeans, no soap available to me. Getting in and out the doors were just really really hard if it wasnt for the graciousness of a few patrons opening doors for me I might have been stuck. Also only one way in or out for me with a ramp into the auditorium. Should have access for wheelchairs on all three entrances to the auditorium so you dont have to ask people to move. I realize this is an old theater and renovations have been done and theres limitations but those are just a couple of things that would make the theater much more enjoyable.
Band great. Acoustic is awful. I would love to go here more often, but the sound system has always needed improvement.
Great performance by Michael Carbonaro! Very funny and great illusionist.
This is a beautiful old movie palace now used as an event center. A stunning venue for a variety of performances.
We had a great time at the Carly Pearce concert. She was awesome. The Gillioz is beautiful.
Nice and classy! Not a great place for a concert but still had fun.
This awesome remodeled theater is just crazy cool, dont look it up, dont ask for details, just plan and go see something there, youll be glad you did. We went and saw The Wizard of Oz on the big screen and it was absolutely delightful. I never got to see The Wizard of Oz in the theater so this was a bucket list event for me, and I will happily be going back to see other things in the very near future. I think what makes this a five-star establishment for me, is that they serve beer and wine and their concession prices are very reasonable. The people there are very friendly and genuinely try their best to see that you enjoy your experience! Did I mention that this place is beautifully remodeled? It is just over the top beautiful, its definitely a sight to see! This is only the second film Ive seen at the Gillioz but we will definitely be doing a lot more this summer and into the fall... Cheers!
Great place to see shows. The upper tier can be a tight squeeze. But overall a nice theater
Love the Gillioz! Have seen many concerts there. Not a bad seat in the house. The acoustics are awesome. The staff are professional and courteous. And they have great Margaritas. Ticket prices reasonable. Beautiful old restored theatre. Great spot for date night!!!
Such a gorgeous theater, our proudest oldest in town. Ive seen so many great shows here. Very happy with how involved they are with local events too.
Was there for a conference not entertainment. I was impressed with the renovation. Very nice
Seen rocky horror picture show and the theater was gorgeousLove the free popcorn at the endSecurity was a little crazy but understandable in a town like Springfield
The Gillioz is an amazing place to be at. I highly recommend going to the Mystery Hour tapings. For around $15 you get to be an audience member for three shows. Seating is comfortable and every seat in the house has a great view. The lobby, bathrooms, and food area are worth the price. Also they have security at the doors which helps make the place secure.
Wonderful old theater. We go to the shadow cast of Rocky Horror every year. Fantastic!
Loved watching Scotty McCreery here last night! What a beautiful theatre and great staff.
Had a great time watching a live taping of The Mystery Hour. I highly recommend it if youre looking for an evening of inexpensive entertainment!
The theater is over 90 years old. The management does an amazing job serving concessions and the toilets are updated and clean.
Very nice, historic theater. Small venue with good seating.
Just a beautiful iconic place. The acoustics there are great for concerts. Love the interior design.
The theatre is absolutely beautiful! Breathtaking really. The seating in the balcony is REALLY crowded, my knees were touching the seat in front of me. Once youre seated youre not getting out unless everyone else gets out too. Amazing acoustics! The staff was very nice as well. Not many stalls in the bathrooms, so the lines were very long.
The Historic Gillioz Theatre, located downtown, and on the corner where route 66 got its name. The theatre offers live shows, concerts, and a host of movies throughout the year. The Gillioz opened its doors in 1926 but is just as elegant today as it was then. The theatre building also host a gallery that can be rented for parties and also office space. if you come see a show take a moment to look around, grab some awesome popcorn or possibly a cocktail.
They always have something great going on here.
Beautiful interior. We sat in the balcony. I dont recommend anyone tall or overweight sitting there. Not much leg room & a lot of stairs. But the view is still good.
Gorgeous historic theatre. Almost 100 years old. My only complaint is the seats are very small. Kinda uncomfortable for a bigger guy like me
Beautiful venue, seating very cramped & were not large people. Kristofferson was great.
A great place to see some great entertainment in a smaller venue.
Nice atmosphere, acoustics great. However... The beer they sold at this venue was warm....
Beautiful architecture and an all around great venue. Plenty of shows too!
Ive never been disappointed by the Gillioz Theater ever. Staff is solid and they work hard to get some bigger names in.
It was a beautiful theater. My granddaughters graduation was there.Perfect ceremony.A little chaotic when leaving, but otherwise very nice.
I love this place....they served coorslight!!!
Venue is historic and theater is lovely. Seating is tight, and dont even THINK about standing or dancing in the balcony. Security will ask you to sit down or move to the back of the balcony. This happened to me at both Big Smith and Gary Clark Jr. Maybe this is a Springfeld thing? Have never been asked to sit at a concert other than this venue.
Awesome venue and the bacon bros. Were damn good
Nice atmosphere, efficient security, and good acts (we saw the Watson Twins and Jenny Lewis)! However, the balancing was off such that the vocals were often overpowered, which was disappointing.
Michael W Smith concert. A very nice venue.
It is my favorite place to get Mexican food. Ky husband and I share a single order of fajitas. It is more than enough for the both of us.
We love going to events at the Gillioz! The staff is pleasant and venue is very nice. Only complaint I have is I am tall, so my knees are always crunched up against the seats in front of me. I just need to remember to buy seats,on an aisle or a front row location.
It would be nicer if they didnt add do much surcharge to everything.
Beautiful theater. Great concert
My only visit to the Gillioz was to see a live performer. Leaving the sound and lighting aside, since those features reflect the road crew not the theatre itself, I give the Gillioz 4 stars. The theatre is beautiful, having preserved the original seats, fixtures and stage. There is no carpet, and the concrete floors are a little rough. While the ladies room has updated stalls, the sink area was very small for a large intermission crowd, and the only working soap dispenser was on a wall at the end of 3 sinks, making it awkward to pass, get soap, and get back to your sink. A little thing, I know, but keeping the review real! Im not sure about concessions at other times, but tonight all I saw was just little boxes of popcorn, no fountain drinks and a few candy snacks, so dont expect the concessions of a new movie theater. I will definitely return to the Gillioz should the right show hit the stage!
Great historic venue for entertainment. Good parking availability in the area. Easy access to the theater. The sound of the bands Ive seen has been good. The only negative us the leg room in the balcony seats - beware of that. Views are great from the balcony, but the first row in particular has inadequate leg room.
A nice venue for a myriad of events. I have been to many events, concerts and weddings at this venue and I always find it charming and nicely decorated.
Great venue for concerts
Great venue for concerts only if you are on the floor though
Great seating air conditioning is perfect. Alcohol is a little expensive. But it is non profit so it goes to a good cause.
Small butBeautiful insideWith Very good performances/talent
Aaron Lewis State Im In acoustic tour
Great place to watch Billy Corgan unplugged
You will not find a bad sweet in this theater
My kids had their dance recital here. Beautiful and historic building.
A great place for concerts. Can see and hear from any seat.
Loved it! Was able to see everyone perform without any issues at all
We saw Rocky Horror Picture Show! It was fantastic
I saw Band of Horses at this place on 7/31/18 and really had a great time. Its a venue that holds about 2,000 people and really a great spot to see a great show. The facility is quite ornate and the update over the years seems substantial. My only criticism is the small bar inside the venue itself. I suppose its commensurate with the size of the venue but was looking forward to a beer selection beyond just a few. I can recommend as a great place to see a band up close and personal. Would return without hesitating!
The theater is beautiful. We saw the Blues Travelers this evening and .. well .. we left early even though they hadnt played Hook yet.The staff was very nice and helpful.Overall, we will go again for something else.
Outstanding venue . Beautiful . Wife & I saw three dog night there, in June 2018 . Highly recommended .
Love this place!!!
Avoid the balcony seating at all costs! There is almost no room between rows. Had to move towards the back and sit sideways to be just a little comfortable. The lower level may be better, but if all you can find are balcony seats, save your money.
Awesome.... Truly enjoyed the theater
