Juanita K. Hammons Hall is a very nice concert hall. The sound flows through the air and is incredibly pleasant. The hall hosts great shows and concerts frequently and all staff are very polite and helpful. The bathrooms are clean and expansive. My only complaint comes from the parking situation which is lacking. In most cases, I need to walk about 600m or more from my parking space to get to the hall
Last night, I saw the touring Lion King at Hammons Hall, and everything about the experience was superior. I have recently moved to the Ozarks from New Jersey, where I had ready access to Manhattan and Broadway. I feared that the performance at Hammons Hall would disappoint me. That was not at all the case. The original Rafiki performed in Springfield. Julie Taymors costumes and sets were as glorious in Springfield as they were in New York City, and the sound was exceptional.
It was awesome! Joe does what he does & does it extremely well! Everybody was respectful, parking was good although I think it is a RIP off, having to pay $10.00 for parking. Especially when they claim no responsibility if anything happens to your vehicle. The cost of the event should have been sufficient at $120.00 a ticket!
A great place for an intimate evening. Well placed seating in classical styling to please the eye and ear. Safe and well lit in a collage community for family outings.
The show was good the heater was stuck on high dont wear layers in the winter and one concession stand doesnt know what the other is doing and half the staff could not even tell you where or if another concession stand is open i spent 30 minutes trying to get a water but finally found someone who could point me in the direction of a water fountain. So I would say definitely miss managed definitely not catering to the customers needs.
First time here, was quite happy with the seats. Seems like nearly anywhere has decent seating. Unfortunately the rows are absurdly long without a break in them. If you sit in the middle be prepared to say excuse me about 20 times to get out. The overall halls design is also VERY dated. Miami Vice would feel very comfortable there.
What a lovely complex! Appears to have the most up to date tech!
We absolutely love this venue. They bring in the best shows from Broadway to the Springfield Symphony, to comedy or dance. The acoustics are great, and the staff is ALWAYS helpful!!
They never let you down no matter what show you see. Friendly staff has always been helpful.
Great place to see a show. Friendly and helpful staff. Good views of the stage from any seat.
Great venue for a small town. Dont recommend the petite balcony views but otherwise very few seats with obstructions. Rows would benefit a ton by having a middle aisle instead of spanning the entire house. Bathrooms are hard to find and cramped.
I love the theater! What else is there to say? Nice place. Im glad for the bathrooms on the top floor. Staff is be always friendly and helpful.
I am deeply, deeply disappointed. I am a single mother and look for low cost or free activities for the holidays. The MSU Music for the Holidays Concert had been advertised as free for weeks. It was suggested you bring a non-perishable food item for donation. We were excited and had been looking forward to this event for several weeks. We had even talked about it that morning before school and when I got home from work the kids were excited and ready to go, coats on! We got our bag of food ready and drove to the hall. We were told we could not park in the parking lot directly across the street without a permit, to go to the next parking lot, which was part of a church. That was fine. We got over there and they wanted $10 for parking. I did not have $10. To be fair to MSU I dont know if this was the campus or church, but it was nothing but pure greed and grabbing for profit at an event advertised for free. Yes, I may have been able to find other parking on campus, but as a single woman with children I did not want us walking around an unfamiliar campus at night. We went home. It was extremely disappointing. We will not be going to events here again. All please be aware that events advertised as free may be free, but there is a price to park.
Great venue. Saw Les Miserables for the NINTH time. Drove from Wichita. THANK YOU
Great place they always work to bring in big shows that usually would just go to St Louis, KC, or Tulsa. Seats could probably be due to be reupholstered.
It was great! I enjoyed it. Everyone was super helpful & kind.
Until recently I had never been to Juanita K. Im so glad I have experienced this venue. It is aesthetically pleasing and all the performances have been fantastic...the horns can be a bit pitchy but no one is perfect. :)But seriously, I hadnt been to a symphony since I was a child and being there...hearing them play...took me back. In a good way. If you have an appreciation for the arts, Juanita K. is a must. See you there!
The event was great! The seating was tight and cramped. The facility was clean. Not very handicap friendly from what I could tell. I walk with a cane as well.Have to shuffle step to get out. Ramp all the way up and down on the inside though.
A great spot to spend an evening, i will be going back for many more of the symphony concerts
Seen two shows here. Only thing I can criticize is the lack of bathrooms. Still very good place to see a show.
The show would have been great if the old lady door attendant didnt keep accusing me of filming when my motion sensored Fitbit kept going off. I cant stop that from happening. And people kept getting up during the orchestra performance during the actual event. Very annoying. If the door attendant wanted to do her job, she should tell people to wait until intermission to get up. It ruins the show for everyone else.
Saw Joe Bonamassa perform here. Great staff and great show! Highly recommend!
I went to Juanita K. to see ZZ TOP and while i enjoyed the music very much, my experience was diminished by the narrow seating and lack of a cup holder. This venue was created to host events such as this, so I shouldnt have to sit thigh-to-thigh with a stranger (Im not a large person nor was he), and people literally had to stand up to allow others to pass. There was no center aisle in the 2nd level, forcing a large percentage of patrons to have to stand to allow others to pass in order to get a drink or go to the bathroom. The lack of cup-holders such as what you find at movie theaters negates the availability of alcohol and other drinks, esp. considering the frequent necessity of having to stand up. Having to pay $10 to park in the parking garage adjacent to the venue seemed a bit high, esp. since there was nowhere else to park without purchasing a parking sticker from MSU. The ticket prices were already high (the cheap seats were $62 each!), considering the average wages in this area are below the national average. On the upside, the staff was friendly and helpful; however, I probably wont return for a show there.
This is a great place to watch performing arts. It has great seating and superb acoustics.
Saw Lion King and Something Rotten at the Hammons, such great shows!!! We wish there were middle aisles for more accessible seats but the view is great even in the balcony. The beer options are limited its like $7 for a cup of wine. But we are so grateful to have a venue that attracts such great shows to Springfield!
Really a fantastic venue. Our first time there after 20 years in the community but certainly not our last. Seating in the mezzanine is a little odd (no center isle, so you have to walk over a long row of people) but not a bad seat in the house. Very convenient parking. All in all an outstanding experience.
Awesome went to the free spooky spectacular orchestra production and got free ice cream after the concert. It was great.
Great local venue with affordable seats. The cocktails have something to be desired.
We love this place. Theres not a bad seat in the house. Great variety of shows!
Very nice venue for concerts in Springfield. Lots of legroom so you can relax and enjoy the show.
I attended a performance of the Springfield Symphony and they were absolutely fantastic. The facilities are amazing as well.
The place has a great view for any concert even to the seats all the way up.
Acoustics are absolutely horrible. Music was always amateurish. Standup comedys were good, but they must be using failing freshman students for sound.
Exceptional performances, ushers are so helpful and for the high volume of use the bathrooms are clean.
Wonderful venue for our Joe Bonamassa concert. Comfortable seating, plentiful and helpful staff in a great setting!
Loved the seats we had and a wonderful production of Les Miserables.
Vince Gil put on a great show! Theres really not a bad seat in the place.
Other than the intoxicated, obnoxious, loud talkers, sitting directly behind me and being ignored by the usher standing five feet away, I enjoyed my $250.00 fourth row from the stage John Prine seats. Seriously.....if you are coming to see John Prine, you might exercise a bit more decorum and dignity than you might display at a Kid Rock concert, but apparantly the sobriety challenged mullet heads discussing an unrelated wedding throughout the performance were unaware of typical social constructs in these types of settings.
So fancy! You can tell that they run this place as professionally as possible!
I attended The Lion King there. The seating was comfortable. The sound quality was good. Too loud hurts my ears but I also have problems discerning the words if its a little less loud. I heard perfectly in the 2nd row from the orchestra. The workers were friendly and helpful. They had a snack bar that also served mixed drinks. I dont personally drink but its nice to have. Restrooms were crowded, but what do you do. Entering and exiting wasnt bad. All in all, it was a great experience.
They host some amazing shows in this facility. The majority of seats offer great views of the stage.
Well organized with helpful and friendly staff. I had to change my tickets do to weather and out of town guests and found it to quick and easy. I have sat in different parts of the hall and never had a bad seat. I recommend Hammons Hall.
Great venue with great acoustics. Best place in Springfield to see a concert.
Beautiful performance hall with amazing acoustics and just a great layout.
Enjoy the show in a very comfortable appeasement. You are going to love the effort that was put in for your entertainment pleasure. The Hall brings in world renown celebrity. Thanks are going out to the establishment for customer approbation.
A beautiful facility. My granddaughter was playing before the concert and they sounded like a million bucks! Even though they were in the lobby. May get to enjoy a performance on another visit to Springfield.
Great venue. The sound is fantastic.
Beautiful building. It has great views from any seat.
Great venue, great concerts - horrible security check points, concessions & merch table.
Went to see the Lion King. Seating was very good. Nice and clean. Strong security presence without being a hassle. Hope to see shows of that quality there in the future. Was very pleasantly surprised.
Nice Theater, good acoustics, I really enjoyed the concert.
Been here many times. Nice open space. Good seating. Usually pretty busy but for good reason. It has a lot of good shows there.
Great venue to see any event! Super close parking for $10.
Hammonds Performing Arts brings much need culture to our small city. Good seats and great Broadway shows are the norm here. Not enough bathrooms but very enjoyable date night place. Acoustics are decent and layout is nice.
Watched lion king. The best... perfect view from every location. Very show and seat is perfect. Get as close to the stage as you can to see facel expression..
Saw Lion King. Wonderful production. Costumes were top quality. Singing and dancing very professional. 2.5 hours start to finish including intermission.
Only visited once. Easy to navigate without getting lost. Easily heard everything said. Id say its a good place to host speakers. Big parking garage next to it. No street parking.
Saw Jeff Dunham tonight. Beautiful venu, great staff!
Great shows! Easily assessable.
It was a nice place to an point, but the chairs need more seat space. I was smashed the whole 3 hours We were therr
Come to Springfield MO and see fantastic theater shows from Wicked to the The Lion King, I throughly enjoyed this afternoon. Definitely family friendly. Thanks Juanita K Hammons Hall and Broadway on tour for a spectacular performance this afternoon.
Great seats very comfortable. Wonderful show
Nice that it has concessions and very easy to get to your seating area. Although there is no middle aisle, there is plenty of leg room for people to walk through in front of you without having to stand. Will definitely come back for more shows. We stayed at the University Plaza Hotel so we just walked 3-4 blocks to the show!
Clean facility unobstructed views. Staff was friendly and helpful. Could hear well. Dont know about parking as we used uber.
Went to Phatom of the Opera and Heather Land. It was fantastic each time. I really enjoyed both venues. They were exciting and fun!. Great accessible seats for handicapped people. They even provided a wheel chair. Amazing!
I gave this low rating because, my seat to see The Lion King was double booked on the afternoon of Feb 27, parking was 4 blocks away even though tickets for both were purchased as soon as available for this performance.Although a beautiful hall and viewing was good even from the back chair against the wall, where I ended up after being jacked around, it was my first and last time. I will never book and pay for a preformanance there again. Cherry Bailey Mtn Home AR.
Jeff Dunham is amazing...loved the show.
Great sound quality! Nice people!
The February Springfield Symphony orchestras guest was Steve Lippia, (sounded like Frank Sinatra)theme Will You Be My Valentine? Wonderful program. Reasonably priced tickets and free parking.
Average performing arts center with nearly impossible to find restrooms and one small parking garage.
Love Juanita K.Hammon but was totally not impressed with Theresa Caputo tonight as it seemed she is not as real as she leads us to believe. But she did put on a good show and did have us laughing. She is a very funny and beautiful woman just wish I didnt leave with many others feeling like we got ripped off by a well known medium that made more jokes than telling us about our loved ones. And those she picked were few and seemed set up with people she personally knew in her crew... Also love how she did start off with the National Anthem, That was wonderful and awesome!
I was visiting this place for a Convention. At this time there was an ice storm blowing in. They made no preparations for the storm. I ended up falling and busting my head. Not a very good experience. To top it of, the auditorium is ancient. Its very hard to maneuver in and out. Very inconvenient location for a Convention.
The Symphony always sounds great in this Hall.
Beautiful building, love the architectural design.
While the building is beautiful, the design of this theatre is not handicap friendly, and frankly its not friendly to able-bodied folks either. There is no center aisle in the petite balcony and the rows are 50+ seats wide. Also, the multiple people elevators are only on one side of the building. The other side has a one person elevator. We came up the big elevator side and had to walk through 50+ seats to get to our seats at the opposite end. You cannot walk across the back side of the theatre on the petite level and there is no seating outside the theatre doors, so if you need to sit while you wait to get in, you have to go back down one level to find chairs. They open the handicap doors on the sides of the building one hour before showtime but they dont open the doors to the theatre until 30 minutes before showtime. So, you must go early to secure one of the few handicap parking spaces next to the building, but then you have to wait to get into the theater. We enjoyed the show, but not the process to get inside.
Ushers were very helpful theater nice great concert
Saw Paw Patrol Live here. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the seats were. We were in the balcony and could see and hear great! Snack lines were ridiculously long. Prices were a bit high. Parking was kind of messy too. Over all Id go again for the venue if I got a good price on tickets and it was something I really wanted to see.
Seats are set up nicely, but like any venue the prices at the concession are a freaking joke, 4 dollars for a cup of water...
First visit there. Clueless as to layout. Got there early, front of the line for where we thought we needed to be. Two different ushers both directed us to orchestra seating. Waited 30 minutes to be seated. We had mezzanine tickets, had to be redirected upstairs to the end of a long line. Frustrated.
Handicap (cart) seating is a bit of a challenge given you have to go around a corner that could easily tip you out of your cart. The worlds slowest elevator! But the play was awesome!
Juanita K. brings numerous plays and concert to Springfield. Their facility is always clean and well kept, including the bathrooms. Parking isnt bad as it is located next to a large parking garage. The variety of shows offered is nice. Just this month I took my children to see Daniel Tigers Neighborhood Live and then a week later went to the Steven Curtis Chapman/Third Day concert. The sound is great and for the most part wherever you are sitting you have a decent view.
I have seen numerous symphonies and plays here and it always makes for a great time.
The hall is great. The are no bad seats and the sound is great.
We saw Phantom of the Opera here and really appreciated this venue. It is a beautiful building, very clean, and easy to find parking right next to it. I will point out though that the womens bathroom could be much bigger. Theres always a long line for the bathroom.
I enjoyed seeing Antony, but the people around us were rude as hell !
This is a beautiful venue. I have been going here since I was a child. Very thankful for many wonderful shows and experiences here! It is always clean and the sound is always on point.
