Golf course well managed. Cozy Inn. Comfortable accommodations. Safety procedures in place for COVID. Staff so helpful and friendly. We are going back!
Played Pine Needles again. This is a championship course, better bring your A game. Historic and beautiful!
We played Mid Pines today, pretty TOUGH course. The greens are very hard to read. Course in excellent shape. Tommorow Pine Needles. Donald Ross take pity
A real test of golf at its finest. You will never tire of playing this very fine Donald Ross creation.
Awesome course! Always prestine and rhe staff are top notch!
Mid Pines is awesome always. Course is in great shape and greens were fast today. If your in the area its a must play.
The course is an excellent layout and the staff was as friendly as they could be. The aerification of the greens made them a little slow but we knew that going in. Overall a great experience.
So be careful of the bait and switch; they may put you in the Mid Pines Hotel which is across the street - not in the Pine Valley Inn where the pictures are. I did notice that on the reservation it buries the fact that it is Mid Pines - but my overall record says Pine Needles. We in fact drive to Pine Needles. Mid Pines is an old hotel that we did get an updated room but is much different that what is listed. And the unfortunate part of using Hotels.com I couldnt get a refund so we were stuck. We enjoyed the golf and would recommend playing on both courses! And we loved the golf staff. But as a hotel its just disappointing all the way around. I rarely write a negative review - but they should just do a site that says Mid Pines Hotel and cross reference each other. I could have stayed at the Marriott down the street for much less and enjoyed the golf. There was no benefit to stay at the hotel and golf.
Course was in great shape.. slow pace of play but could be expected was packed.
Awesome greens great course. A must play!!!
Beautiful course! Well maintained. Great staff.
Incredible golf experience! Donald Ross at his best.
Great golf course enjoyed playing on it.
I was invited to a Christmas party there and I must say I had a wonderful experience! Perfect facility for any eventThe bathroom were very nice and clean .The service was top notch and prompt. Great teamwork displayed throughout the evening. There is plenty of parking and very well lite at night.
Very well maintained and challenging golf course. Has an excellent range. Great track.
I THOUGHT I was booked at this property, but was actually booked at Mid-Pines by Hotels.com. So, I cant give a review of Pine Needles accommodations. BUT, the golf facility and staff I met there was spectacular.
Greens putt smooth and fairways consistent
Nice lodge with a retro vibe. Accompanied my husband on his work conference here. Stayed in a comfortable downstairs room in the Par Lodge (a small building with 4 rooms) overlooking grass tennis courts. Conference center served delicious breakfast, lunch & dinner meals. Beautiful setting among tons of pine trees!
My fiancé and I stayed here on Valentines Day. We had a room that looked out on the putting green with a nice porch. The staff was great, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, and we enjoyed the hot tub. It was also convenient to walk everywhere on the property. Great relaxing atmosphere and a fun trip. We intent to return and recommend this location highly!
Excellent golf course. Can’t speak to the lodge, but played Pine Needles and it was amazing. Great condition. Great layout. Very fun course.
One of a kind. Like going back in time to the 70s. In a good way.
Great layout. Lots of fun.
Great course, but really really tough greens. I thought I was playing Pinehurst #2. The course is in good shape, staff was friendly and pace of play was perfect at 4 hours exactly. Highly recommend playing it, just practice your putting before you go.
Excellent accommodations and beautiful golf courses. Enjoyed 4 days there very much! Wonderful food at the Lodge and restaurants in Southern Pines. Nice area.
I had lunch and played here last week. I found the food to be good but not great. The clubhouse was neat and a bit of a throwback. The staff were extremely pleasant and eager to help. I thought the course layout was great and those Donald Ross greens gave me fits on some of the shorter holes. The course condition was very good. The mangled astro turf situation at the driving range was a bit embarrassing. I enjoyed myself but from a value proposition at $245pp Id try other places the next time around.
What a dog path. Even at $50 due to airiation of the greens and tees, the fairways were burnt up. I cant imagine paying $155 to play.Ive played 9 hole country courses that were better. Save your money! Go to Seven Lakes Golf club. Conditions are outstanding. You can almost go anywhere in and around Pinehurst and conditions will be better. Cant believe the Womens Open was there a few weeks ago.
Entire staff is very attentive. Room was just fine. Liked the atmosphere at the bar.
This was a great experience in every respect EXCEPT for the noisy AC unit which made sleep almost impossible. What a shame, because we loved everything else. .
A top level golf course in the Pinehurst area.
We worked a military ball at this venue. The staff went above and beyond making sure the workers had food and beverages.Such great hospitality. We enjoy working there Everytime.
So many unfortunate things happened. Firstly they couldn’t find my reservation. Then the toilet was nasty. The room smelled old and stinky and we found someone’s golf ball they left behind. Our big screen TV didn’t work and to top it off, a big huge water bug came charging out like “hey what are you doing here” the dead one stayed still! But on the great side, The staff was awesome! And the food was great. Yes we ate there before we saw the bugs! We left at 4:30 in the morning of our first night when the bug came charging!
Nice Donald Ross layout, good conditions, a bit expensive for what you get
Classic, old style golf resort. Liked the fact that the hotel is right next to the practice facilities and course. Great hospitality. The range mats were the only bad part--like hitting off of concrete. Opt for the grass. Course was in great shape and was really fun to play. We played Mid Pines across the street and that was maybe more fun. Great staff at both establishments. People there try hard and it shows.
Beware. Pine Needles may send you to their property across the street- Mid -Pines. What a dump. Roaches and run down. Terrible . Stay away.
My favorite course in the southern pines area. Once again it didnt disappoint. Course in perfect condition and everyone there very friendly and helpful.
Excellent place atmosphere Out of This World Service good food the best service excellent recommended highly
Great diner. Wonderful atmosphere.
Graham Gilmores Pine Needles Lodge turns out a very good annual Thanksgiving Day buffet spread for a very fair price. We have made the Thanksgiving morning drive from Raleigh to Southern Pines on several occasions over the years and have rarely been disappointed. If you do not want to go through the motions of preparing your annual feast yourself and are willing to travel, Pine Needles Lodge is a very good alternative. Thanks Graham.
The staff here is top notch and the food is great. You do not have to be a guest to eat here or at Mid Pines. The golf courses speak for themselves and I would not expect to be disappointed.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend and felt the overall experience was great. We loved the charm of the Inn/ Lodge. The rooms are unique and more like staying in a guest room of a friend. We were in the bogie building and although it was decorated super cute it did have that old dank smell. We will happily come back to Southern Pines and stay at the Pinetree Inn. ( we are not golfers, but loved the vibe) One more note; every staff member we encountered was super friendly and added to our overall experience. Southern hospitality A+
Not a place to go if you have trouble with stairs. No elevators. People are nice but just not a top notch place.
Wonderful course, very tough greens.
We do a lot of golf trips and Pine Needles blew away our expectations. Two fantastic Donald Ross gems on the property that you would never get tired of playing. Food was very good across breakfast, lunch and dinner and everyone that worked there could not have been nicer or more hospitable. After visiting once, we are now going to make it an annual tradition.
Rude people. They think hitting their little ball is more important than paramedics responding to a medical emergency during the 2nd Senior Women Open blabla!Unbelievably arrogant and self centered!
Beautiful course
Great golf venue. With friendly staff
The Fairways and Tee Boxes were sparse in spots. Unusual for Pine Needles. Greens were aerated a week ago. A little bumpy.
Classic Donald Ross!
We were there on a chilly day in early spring and ate lunch next to the real wood fireplace. Great atmosphere and really good food. Will definitely be back.
Great staff! Club is great place for Company Banquet.
A Great place too stay and play a wonderful golf course
I love PN but it is showing it’s age. If you can accept a quaint, rustic experience with creaking floors, tiny bathrooms and hearing everything from neighboring rooms, its for you. The convenience, food, golf and southern hospitality are top shelf.
Excellent....GIML 2019 Red team...yea
The best place to have a post round drink or meal.
Very well maintained course it was a very good challenge. The clubhouse restaurant was nice. Good service good burgers
Thoroughly enjoyed the course and the chili, Erin is a great bartender.
Very nice place, the golf course is top notch and it is one of my favorite in this area. The lodge is starting to get a little old and could use a few renovations, but other than that it is a very nice place.
My husband and I enjoyed drinks and a delicious dinner in front of a real wood burning fireplace. First Class all the way. We highly recommend it. You wont be dissapointed.
Enjoyed the stay at the lodge and the course has always been fun to play.
Really like this facility, but they cant control the weather....we will return...
Love Donald Ross courses. Very good condition. Thanks for hosting the CGA Senior Interclub Final Four.
Course in fair conditions. Facilities a little worn and $250 rate should be more realistic around $180.”
The history and perfect place to play golf with the best people
Love the course and lounge. Great time.
Best golf course ever!
Wonderful and peaceful. Room was spacious with large walk in shower and double vanity bathroom.
Great course layout, friendly staff. Awesome experience.
The greens were not good. I asked for a handicap flag n told not available as cart path only. While on the course saw a group with a flag n driving on the course. Showing favoritism is not acceptable.
We booked at the Pine Needles Lodge, but upon arrival they bumped us to their sister hotel across the street (Mid Pines) for no apparent reason. Mid Pines is run down and in need of a lot of TLC. We do not recommend staying there.
If theres a golf course to challenge Pinehurst No.2 for top honours in North Carolina, then Pine Needles is surely one of the leading contenders. This is another fabulous Donald Ross layout, always presented in excellent condition, although in a way that does not detract from the courses innate naturalness.
Loved it!
Food cold. Took a long time to arrive. Very expensive. Would never go back.
Very nice meal and the decor is warm and inviting!Dessert pricey for the slice you get
We have been to Pine Needles a number of times already and we love it. We were surprised at the lack of maintenance and upkeep in the rooms but I am sure things will improve. We didnt have a working TV and our air was not working well. When I checked out, a guest was complaining about a few other maintenance items in his room. Dont let it slip please! Its an amazing place.
What an awesome golf course. It was manicured perfectly. For mid May, It was perfect. What a great place to play.
You will absolutely love this resort. It is the optimal place for a weekend golf trip. Top notch course, staff, and accommodations.
Top shelf excellent condition
Everything is true - Awesome burgers and the bar atmosphere is a classic that will take you back to the good old days
The best steak I have had in years!
Great Golf Course enjoyed it very much
Pricey, but a phenomenal course in great shape. Staff was most helpful.
Good food. Excellent service. Very clean
One of the best in our area.
Awesome day of golf - nice challenging course
Great golf, food and helpful friendly staff. We are looking forward to returning.
Played on an aeration deal. Greens ok... Fairways need work
We arrived in the dark and not asked if we had trouble finding them, how was our trip, glad your here..nothing. They have a series of buildings and we were offered a map vs. valet or bellman. Then the room. Wow! they are small, old.It is NOT quaint - just outdated. The room was poorly lit as was the parking lot. There was a musty smell. There was a box TV. As I said it was late, we decided to live with it for one night and cancel the second night. Then I stepped on the floor near the right-side of the bed and my socks were soaked. The small refrigerator, sitting directly on the carpet apparently was leaking(or so I thought). Then I felt wet on the bottom of the bedspread(not touching the floor) Now we knew the source of the musty smell. So at 10:30 we moved to another room in a neighboring building. the bathrooms are tiny with a pedestal sink and a 4 inch by one yard ledge to do what you need to in the bathroom. The shower curtain brushes the side of the toilet when closed. We will never be back and this has made us suspect of Expedias ratings as well as Trip Advisors. The only think folks can like about this place is the location if you are a golfer.. Cmon Man....
Well maintained
The lodge is showing its age in some ways, but its a great setting and a historic golf location!
Beautiful and tough
Great Sunday brunch. But we had the cheaper $15 option. We skipped out on the $35 lunch.
Loved this course! Very nice layout. Raymond was a pleasure to talk to. .
Nice staff. Great golfer atmosphere.
