Just paid $90 for 9 holes. Front 9 was good but when we pulled up to #10 there were 4 groups and it wasnt moving. After 10 minutes we turned the cart around and loaded up our clubs. The couple in the group in front of us did the same thing. We both said we anticipated a 5 plus hour round. As we drove out much to my surprise after #12 the course was wide open. So 2 - 3 groups holding up an entire golf course. See that maid me even more aggravated. Need rangers.
I play all over NC and I can tell you this place is top notch. From the staff to greens they are running top notch!!! Our group will be back soon for sure!!!!
No practice round rate was offered for the Turkey shootout. They quoted the adult rate with no junior rate given, even though the website lists it. The lady was very adamant of the price to play. Seems a little bizarre for a course that caters to junior golf. Not interested in paying more for to play a practice round than what the actual tournament costs.
I have never seen the course in better condition in the 20+ years I have played here. From the tees to the greens, the course is superb. Kudos to the staff...keep it up!!
Played 18 with my son on a deal from Groupgolfer today. Course was awesome, staff was very courteous, and Im looking forward to another Groupgolfer/Longleaf special deal.
Beautiful course, Clean greens, Golf cart GPS and just great atmosphere. Would golf here every weekend if I could.
What a great experience! I had a professional fitting at The Academy at Longleaf this past week with John Wainwright. If you are in the area or within a 2 hour drive I highly suggest making the trip to Southern Pines to get a personalized fitting experience. The Academy has a huge selection of shafts and brands to fit any type of swing. Top of the line technology with Trackman and love that you can hit into the range to get a true feeling of the shots you are hitting. Was able to place an order for my new irons on the spot. I drove from Charlotte, NC for the iron fitting and look forward to returning soon to continue to dial in my bag. While you are there - make sure to play 18 holes as well. Fun layout with perfect greens. You can find the right tee box to suit your game and have an enjoyable but challenging time!
This was the first Country Club that Ive ever been a member at. We originally joined for the pool (which is amazing) and then joined for the golf. We specifically chose Longleaf due to it being kid friendly. Our children 4yr & 9yrs loved the lessons. The course can be challenging especially before the huge kids tournament. The rough was brutal and I had a hard time finding my ball when barely hit off the fairway. The practice facilities are awesome here. The kids really enjoyed playing bottle brush which is a small 9 hole short course.
I really like the fact they have very friendly tees for women. The course is beautiful, lively scenery, and houses. The course is in great shape and service providers are excellent.
Mixed experience for our first time golfing here. The course was challenging but fun, and we were fans of their tee system. We weren’t fans of the carts, though. While I understand the need for making boundaries for the cart, I found myself on the front 9 having to push it because we missed the tunnel to the next hole and it automatically shut off. There were zero signs or any indicators telling us to take the tunnel. It then told us to put it in reverse on a narrow path and would not let us proceed forward at all, which led me to having to push the cart a good 15 feet which was absolutely infuriating. Upon completion of our round of golf that day, and while we were unloading all of our stuff at the car, the marshal came by to tell us in a very rude tone that we needed to return the carts because people were waiting. I understand carts are limited because of the social distancing requirement, but I’m paying 22 dollars per person for my cart; don’t rush me to put my stuff away in my car like everyone else. Overall, there are plenty of courses around here so I’ll probably stay away and golf elsewhere.
8 sets of tees is awesome allowing course to be played from 2,423 yds all the way back to 6,684 yds. Lets anyone from a young child to an adult scratch golfer play golf the way it was meant to be played! Course is in great shape with a fun to play, yet challenging layout. Back 9 coming home is an awesome experience!Academy building is also VERY nice. Open the bay doors and hit live golf balls from the inside, air conditioned area while Trackman gives you all the data you could ever want about your golf swing. Fitting system with Callaway, Mizuno, and Titleist should you decide you want to get fit. Other bay houses an indoor simulator perfect for rainy days or a round of night golf.My kids take lessons there and they are the best junior program around. Teaching golf through games makes learning fun and my kids cant wait to get back. All in all, highly recommended!
Played there this weekend. We usually love playing Longleaf but this year, for whatever reason, the greens were not up to the speed. The grass is sparse. We play bermuda greens every week in the Alamance/Guilford county area and theyve all come in nicely so we were expecting the same in the sandhills but were disappointed to find that they were not in great shape. I hope they do something about it because this is a fantastic course. Tee boxes and fairways were fine. Pace of play was good. Well definitely give it another shot next time were in the area.
USA Kids Family Golf Camp - Awesome! We visited for the USA Kids Family Golf Camp in July with my wife and I and our 6-year old daughter. My wife and I are complete novices and my daughter has no golf experience, but Ive thought that golfing might give us something we could all enjoy to together, so I found this camp and we gave it a go.I was a bit nervous about having not experience and showing and being left behind, but there was no way Jim Hardy and his team of professionals would let that happen. Simply put, the coaches and staff were absolutely amazing! It turns out that my daughter was among the youngest and certainly least experienced with golf club. I told her that we were all in the same boat, thought, since mom and dad were the worst among the adults. It didnt matter. We had a blast - much to the credit of all of the coaches. They really went out of their way to make us not only feel we fit in, but we especially appreciate how special they made Peyton feel.By the way, the food and other amenities are also top notch. The other golfers were fun and we met lots of new friends. Overall, this was just an absolutely fantastic experience and we already cannot wait for another visit next year.Thank you Jim, Jim 2, Katy, Meghan, and others for a wonderful experience!
Great course condition for March, rained the night before and couldnt even tell. This is by far the best course for the money anywhere in Pinehurst area or Raleigh/Durham. Very creative and challenging design.
She made two (2) birdies today. This was one of them !Greens were fast but true. Beautiful fall day to play golf and then have dinner afterwards at the Heartwood. Burgers on Thursday night are better than Kickback Jacks on Tuesdays. Also, the Lobster Bisque is a great appetizer.
Great course to play. Played right after heavy rains and the course was in great shape - better than I expected. It will challenge golfers of any age. I like how they have a youth academy for golfers here to encourage young golfers to love the game. The greens and fairways were in great shape.
Course was in great condition and greens were fast and true. Great use of 7 different tees. We used vouchers from Groupgolfer and got a good deal. We will definitely be back again.
Dan is awesome! Very friendly with great personality.
There are much better choices in the area. Quirky but not difficult layout with excellent greens. Absolutely terrible management. The concept of common sense on tee time organization is non exsitant. Single member playing two balls from the back tees on a Saturday is wedged between groups coupled with zero rangers to keep things moving.Literally waited 20 minutes per hole for 3 holes in a row before calling it a day and heading back to the parking lot. We traveled to Pine Hurst for this?Elderly woman running pro shop is clueless.Buyer beware!
Solid course. Had a group of three and everything went great. Would definitely recommend.
Love the pool very clean and nice place.
Nice facility and clubhouse with an interesting tee system. The first few holes are boring and the course isn’t very difficult but it is well-maintained. I’d play it again but from the back tees.
Fun design and good condition
Nice place for lunch and dinner - restaurant is open to the public. Also very playable, enjoyable golf course.
Very nice track...new carts!
Great Course with Great Greens!
The greens are in great shape and the burger night on Thursday evenings is the best value in town. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the 9th fairway/green. The golf staff is friendly and goes the extra distance whenever we stop by for a round.
Greens are in great shape
Great Bermuda greens. Interesting layout. Course was in great shape
Course and staff were great. Highly encourafe playing if you get time and even going out of your way.Play smart and you will get through well. Course layout is very nice and relaxing. Enough trees to keep in the shade.Pine needles will definitely help find your ball but be careful as you will slip out of your stance as you swing.Enjoy the course.
Bartender inside was very polite and provided great service.
I love this golf course and all the people who work here! Met Kenny Knox and was very impressed by his discussion of his organization.
Front nine is ok compared to the back nine. Food is good though.
We had a good experience. We hired a caddy, probably wasnt necessary and would have preferred to ride this course, but it was a nice day on the course. It was in great shape and the service was really good.
We love Longleaf. The membership plans for families are very reasonable especially if you take advantage of the clinics. Course is always in great shape.
Was expecting more for the price we paid. Green speed was slower than expected, barely any green grass on the fairways. Pace of play was great, layout was average.
Nice course, open, good condition. Pace of play is awful. 2:50 front nine and no ranger. Had 5 groups on a par 5 at one point
Great golf course with a excellent staff willing to help and make your round a pleasant one, superb layout that can challenge even a seasoned golfer, there carts with build in GPS range finders built in is really nice, then to top it off they are still growing there kids golf academy which teaches kids the game of golf and its fundamentals is top notch with a staff you have see to believe let alone the facilities, top notch
Nice gift course.
So nice the pool! Never get toó crowded
Very nice course, fast green. Enjoyed so much but I wish I could finish 18 holes, as there was a severe thunder storm after 14th....
Great course never played before and staff were very friendly and helpful!
This course has the largest selection of tee options Ive ever played . Challenging golf course with above average conditions. Part of the course weaves through an old horse track . Some of the original fences remain .
The layout is good other than a couple of odd short holes but the course is not in good shape. Im very surprised people are giving 4 and 5 stars. I realize weve had a lot of rain and I take that into account but this course needs a lot of care and the greens (which being Bermuda) should be running fast and hard are NOT - they are downright shaggy and very slow.
Tough track
This was our first visit back in several years and we were in awe of the many improvements that had taken place. The greens were the best we’ve played on. The focus on Kids and growing the game of Golf is a definite win win for the kids and the community. For a February tee time and after all the rain the course presented challenges for all. Thanks for a great time, we’ll be back.
Nice course but greens wouldnt hold even with high shots hit. Along with the overly firm greens the areas around the greens were very closely mowed alowing balls to run off banks. Very hard to hit good shots.
The woman in the kitchen Quanellia was SPECTACULAR!
Great course. Greens were in good shape for the season. Fun and challanging layout. Great value!
Beautiful, fun course. Challenging but great for every level golfer. Carts are equipped with tv screen giving information on each hole which is super cool. Clubhouse is very accommodating. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Had a wonderful day there!
Had a great time. Staff was very friendly and helpful
Fun muni
The course is absolutely fantastic. The greens in the morning are faster than greased Teflon. The fairways are in super shape. Overall, we had a great experience. We had a group of 13 and everyone enjoyed themselves and we hope to come back soon. The staff is very nice as well. If you dont have a good experience, its not the courses fault.
Nice course and really cool par three 6 hole course. Staff was helpful and friendly to our needs. Greens were in great shape, however slightly slower than I appreciate.
I knew this was going to be a special place when I pulled up to the cart drop area and the attendant introduced himself.(Frank) He along with the pro shop staff were polite, professional, and knowledgeable. The course is a beautiful layout with perfect Bermuda greens, and gorgeous native sandy areas line some of the exceptional fairways. Longleaf is a must play in the Pinehurst area. After your round, you want to check out the restaurant, the food was spectacular!!!
Eaten here a few times. Everything is fantastic. My family loved it too
Fantastic course with exceptional staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Always love playing here and will continue to return.
The course and facility have gotten a nice upgrade in the last 3-4 years. Great new teaching school for kids.
Tough course. They should water the hard-scrabble fairways.
Nice place for golf and overnight stay
Longleaf Golf & Country Club, rated 3-1/2 stars: The original horse racing heritage of this site is clear to see on Longleafs relatively open front-nine. Furlong markers and stretches of railing have been left in place, although dont expect to see any thoroughbreds galloping past - golf is now the main activity conducted on this flattish terrain alongside the Midland Road.Longleaf may be one of Pinehursts easier-going tracks, but its also a great place to hone your skills for some of the tougher challenges ahead.
Real nice facilities. Course is good ...very playable for all . Nice new clubhouse and is a US Kids teaching center.
Greens were beautiful and fast. Course itself. Eh..
Lot of improvements have been made. Golf course was in excellent shape. Will definitely return for more golf.
The renovation and investment made here has made this a practically new course. The layout is diverse and beautiful. The implementation of the scaled tees means this course is fun and enjoyable, while still fair and challenging to every level of player.
Went there to try and get the lay of the land before 24 of my buddies come to Pinehurst for our annual golf trip.I could not be more disappointed in the greens. Weeds, bare spots, and overall lack of care for the greens could not be more evident. They can talk about rough summer due to hear all they want, but this is a combo of that and simply not spending the time or money to manage the greens. I DO NOT recommend playing this course
Beautiful, quiet place with beautiful homes
Pretty course in great condition. The new greens are still very hard making it near impossible to hold a good shot. This day several of the pins were placed in ridiculous spots, such as on a slope that would send the ball
Management and staff were very accommodating for our group of 9 + baby. Excellent Sunday brunch buffet.
Great clubhouse and course!
Course was ok. wouldnt look forward to another outting.
So the course has just been redone and in excellent condition great pricing for members and guests
Beautiful layout. Hosting the Junior World Golf Championships here this week. Staff was outstanding considering the number of players going thru there today for a practice round. Dont miss the burger in the restaurant.
Great place to bring your family for dinner good service
Longleaf is fantastic. Great new updated course with greens and restaurant!
They have changed the back 9 into the front 9 with seven new tee boxes. Nice
Many tees have little to no grass, the fairways have very short and sparse grass. Some of the fairways had bare spots with no grass. The tees were very hard to get a tee into the ground. I would NOT RECOMMEND this golf course to anyone in its current condition.
Clubhouse, Course, and Restaurant all recently renovated, definitely worth a visit!
Great course for the money.
Course conditions have substantially improved in the last year
Everything we had was delicious. Duck breast, and trout.
Good food.
Great course, friendly staff, great tee box system.
Played this course early Spring of 2008. Despite its reputation, there was little about it, apart from a few individual holes, that makes it stand out from the Pinehurst crowd. The expansive front-9, which is encroached by unattractive housing, was plagued by patchy fairways and average greens. The back-9 was much greener and has tighter fairways. But, the Dan Maples design is a snoozer. The course would be average anywhere, but in the Sandhills, even $40 is too much to pay to play here - be wary of any course that doesnt post its rates on its website.
Nice course, good pace of play and nice restaurant.
Worthy of a revisit, lots of improvements going on
The us kids academy is awesome!!!
Wonderful, everybody there is so nice and helpful!!!
Easy walk fast greens
You have to play this one !!
Great people
Lightening greens and great staff
Awesome food and service
6 pars in 9 holes.
Beautiful
Golf.
