The Copshaholm was amazing. I dont know how many photos I can add. I have about 100. Everything was so densely filled and opulently appointed. The carriage house and museum contained many wings on prohibition, Notre Dame, the womens professional baseball league, and the circus.Very interesting. Some things may be hard to read on the photos. I held my breath, but...Dont forget to like reviews and photos you like. This helps the reviewer.
Beautiful place!! Thirty-eight room mansion left by the Oliver family. Everything in it is original to the house. So many unique pieces, and Brenda, our guide, told lots of great stories. Theres only one room you cant go into-the nursery-because there are no original pieces for that room. I loved the library, kitchen, mourning room and kitchen the best. Oh yeah, and gorgeous Tiffany glass everywhere! You should go!!
Small but interesting museum with very friendly staff. We were there today with my sons preschool class for a field trip to the kids museum, which is mostly focused on pioneer life in the South Bend area. The entire area is filled with things to do and climb on and play with. Four stars instead of five because a lot of the accessories are missing, and the restrooms and drinking fountains could really use a few step stools to be accessible for small children.
Great place to see part of Michiana history.
I visited the Studebaker museum and learned quite a bit about the company. Lots of displays to observe with information signs.
Three museums in one; History Museum, Oliver Mansion, and Studebaker Museum. Mansion and Studebaker are fantastic! History Museum is so-so.
Decent displays but kind of pricey.
Have to note first that it shares the main building with the Studebaker Museum.Exhibits do rotate, and this contains artifacts and items from the local area.I also toured the Workmans House and it is astonishing how many lived there at one time.Do take the time to go through all the museums if you can .. you can bring your camera with, but Id suggest you refrain from flash usage.
Wonderful museums beautiful home and rich history! A must see!
An amazing collection of vehicles from before motors.
Lots to see, very interesting
Its worth taking the house tour to experience the opulent mansion of an American manufacturing royal family.
We really enjoyed our tour. Only issue was the heat inside the mansion, which is understandable with the size of it.
Nice museum. Several interactive displays.
Voyages is lengthy and informative. Their rotating exhibits keep giving me reasons to return.
Great place to spend time Rich in history.
Had a great and wonderful time with my son from Indianapolis visiting his Daughter in town, Great to see And learn about the history Of the Oliver mansion and different things about the The Studebaker cars,Also I learn about the Indian tribe and how they lived, Great place for adult And children.
Beautiful mansion. Tour guide very knowledgeable
Beautiful display of detailed movie costumes. We also enjoyed the circus pictures. Great place to host a party. Delightful evening!
Murder mystery tour was fabulous, the guides and actors did a great job.Took our twelve year grandson what a great experience for him we all had a wonderful time. Thanks to all
I was very disapointed. Me and my husahusaband and our two kids paid fifty bucks to see it all and after we paid they told us a bunch of stuff was closed off and we couldnt even get into mansion which was the reason we came. We tried to talk to workers and they just laughed and said not our problems. One guy just walked away. They didnt tell us that they do last tour at two got there at 330 left at 430 so paid fifty bucks to walk around for a hour. I will tell everyone to never go here and i will never come back
The exhibit on the Potawatami tribes was very well done.
This is one of the best history museums in the region outside Chicago. The Oliver Mansion is a treasure, the Gardens are amazing, and one could spend a day in their various exhibits. Great for all ages.
Wonderful tour, learned a lot about the history of South Bend!
It was great to see local history!
Everyone was very nice. It was very interesting to learn the history. I will definitely go back for a full tour of the mansion as this was just small tours they were offering during our company party.
Beautiful piece of history!!!
So rare to see a house from the turn of the century with everything it. Donated to the City of South Bend, Indiana as is from funiture, dishes and cloths.
Toured the Oliver House which was totally AWESOME! Right now they have a Tiffany exhibit going on which is pretty fantastic too! Also toured The Workers House where a nice Polish family lived. All totally worth your time!
The Movie Costume Exhibit was very well done. Quite enjoyable! I learned so much from it.
Well curated costume exhibit. Love the Studebaker exhibits. Looking forward to the tea house opening.
Beautiful home....full of history
The museum overall was spectacular, educational and beautiful. The Studebaker Museum was way cool! My wifes grandpa was the Manager of the Testing Grounds for Studebaker.
The house was immaculate
The childrens museum is a worthwhile activity, an adequate value for the price. Its just too bad that its not better maintained.
Very nice small museum. Great way to spend the afternoon.
Really great museum. Indiana history and Studebaker history well curated.
I regret that I lived in South Bend for five years and never visited this wonderful museum. Now that Im back for a visit, Im really glad to have made it a priority to visit. Its mainly a shrine to the heyday of the Studebaker Corporation, but it also has a collection of other artifacts of local interest. Im not a car buff by any means, but I was still fascinated by the lineup of old vehicles, the great majority of which are restored or well preserved.Definitely worth the cost of admission, which dor a student is $7.I took my time and got through the museum in about one hour and 45 minutes.
Want through the Oliver house. Good tour.
Enjoyed my time there and the gift shop had a great mix of new items and antiques
Very interesting place to visit
SPECTACULAR!!!It is a preserved gem from history
Great historical display of Studebakers going back to their wagons in the 1800s and up through their cars to 1950s and early 60s. The Oliver Mansion is a must see.
Extraordinary old mansion with the original furnishings.
A Great Place to Spend the Afternoon!
