The dioramas were VERY impressive! We had a great time wandering through this museum... and I must admit that we’re usually not museum people. This is a great place to start your day of exploring (maybe before you hit the machines). Haha

I could have spent much more time checking out this place, it was not as detailed about some subjects as I would have liked, but it was a very pleasant walk though for me and my partner, the building is clean and impressive, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. They had 1 exhibit when we visited and it was very good, with elaborately decorated shoes, hats and Mardi gras apparel. Im definitely glad that we went.

I spent 3 hours walking around this well laid out museum. They have an amazing display of history and art. The miniature dioramas are some of the best I have ever seen. This place alone made the trip worth it. Clear at least a couple hours and check them out. It is free to tour but be sure to give a donation they really deserve it.

We loved visiting the Louisiana State Museum. The building was built in the 1940s and the architecture is incredible. Inside, the entire museum is made in a circle. The outside of the city is packed full of beautiful, intricate dioramas that were exquisitely made. There is also a long boat over 1000 years old. Lots to see and learn. Best of all, admission is free. Be sure to visit this incredible museum if you have the chance.

There is a lot of local history in this museum. Those who came when younger can see some of the favorites. I did enjoy seeing new things like the car. Learning Cedar Grove had a car dealership in the early 1900s. Cone and see.

This is a gem to behold, whether you are an art lover or a history buff. There are many art pieces showing La history preserved like no other Museum in the State. I went to see a presentation on the history of the Caddo Indians as well as a book signing. The cake pictured was delicious.

Great place to take the kids. Rich history presented in large display cases mounted along the wall, beautifully crafted taxidermy, and a great art room all held my 10 year olds attention quite well. I enjoyed it quite a bit too. There are great write ups offering explanations and information in every exhibit, so if you take your time and study everything, you can easily spend an hour and a half in the museum. But if you just want to walk around with your kids and look at all the cool stuff, you can spend 20 to 30 minutes and see it all. Theres a circular walkway that takes you through the entire Museum, but look for the wing off to the side where they have an art gallery. Some very nice art there. There are a few nice Native American exhibits there too, including a very long thin wooden Boat carved out of the trunk of a tree.

This is a fun and free place museum to explore. We visited when the Pinball exhibit was visiting so we got a chance to play some of these old machines. The dioramas are great to view as your read about the states information as you walk the building. One section is dedicated to local Caddo Native American artifacts including a canoe.

I entertained friends from out of state. Since they were not familiar with Louisiana Culture & History I took them here to the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. What was intended to be a 1 1/2 hour walk through turned into 3 1/2 hours of a Cultural, Historical & Economic tour. This very large and well done museum takes the visitor through both geologic and cultural Prehistory of Louisiana, touches upon many facets of State history, cultural diversity, industry and agriculture that sets Louisiana apart. The building is itself historic and unique in its archetechtural style. It has the amenities of seating at regular intervals so one might take time to enjoy a display. There are both clean restrooms and water fountains. The entire staff is both friendly and helpful. This wonderful facility is open to the public at no cost. It is a real treasure to have this in Shreveport!

A worthwhile stop for adults and families with pre-teen and older children. The museum has extensive dioramas, intricately & beautifully executed, of the entire states economic history. What was expected to be a quick visit turned into 2 1/2 hours viewing a wide-ranging array of fascinating artifacts, exhibits and displays in a lovely old building. An added delight was the Hoover Watercolor Society Annual Juried Art exhibit. No admission charge for the museum or the art exhibit.*The huge stuffed alligator lacks a descriptive card... who was he, how did he come to be at the museum?

I love old art deco buildings. This is a wonderful example of the period. The building is circular and this is charming as one wanders through the exhibits. I found the GPS is a bit confused to find the place, and seems to take you to the back fence. Dont be alarmed. just move around to the front and enjoy. The museum is free. It has so much about Louisiana it could take a short novel to cover what is in the building. the mini dioramas were particularly well done and the information very informative. Take a couple hours to tour. It was a wonderful break from the hot muggy weather on the day I visited. This is a nice stop for sure.

The Louisiana state exhibit museum is fantastic. The dioramas and Exhibits are intricate and very interesting. The museum displays items dating back historically to the founding of our country, and continuing in a linear fashion to the present day. There is also a lot of agricultural history and detailed displays showing methods of Mining and farming, Etc used over the last hundred years. We went through the museum in a very leisurely fashion and it took us two and a half hours.
