Fantastic hike! The trail isnt too difficult and the Soldiers Arch is beautiful. There is a bit more of a dramatic incline toward the end of the trail if you go into the arch, but it is worth exploring. 4/5 stars only because parking is extremely limited (about 10 spots in the trailhead lot) so expect about a mile walk to the trailhead.
Beautiful hike. To get to the parking lot you have to drive through a neighborhood and then a little bit on a rocky/bumpy road which may not be suitable for some vehicles so you may need to park ways before the lot.The hike was awesome, so many cool overlooks and spots to take in the views! Start early as fo avoid the sun as there is shade in the beginning but once you are out that’s it. Enjoy and be careful for snakes
These hiking trails were amazing!! Best views. We chose the trail to the caves and it got tough (easy for hard core hikers), at the the end towards the top. Parking was limited but we got lucky midday, there were 2 open spots out of 16 total. After the hike every spot was full with people waiting to pull in. Bring lots of water on this one.
Trail is beautiful. Pictures are Devils Kitchen and Seven Sacred Pools. Couldnt have asked for a better day to go. The hike is rated as easy but that applies only if the person is in very good shape. For those of us who dont hike often, its a moderate rating. There is a lot of climbing and the Sedona dirt is slippery, definitely want to wear hiking boots and if you have poles bring them, as there are very few handholds. No facilities available at the trail, bring water, snacks and a hat. The trail is off of a residential area and the parking lot is incredibly small, fills up fast. If you dont get to the trail when it opens wont be any place to park. Dont park in the neighborhood, they are strict and you will get a ticket. We ended up parking about 15 minutes away from the trail head; its a long walk back to the car after hiking for a couple of hours.
One of my favorite Hikes in Sedona! So many fantastic views. There is only 16 spaces for cars. If you like walking and cant find a space, 1 mile away is the dog park you can park in the lot or on the street. Theres a little path you can walk to be off the road most of the way to the trailhead. Or you can be patient and wait for someone to pull out.
Shared this hike with the girlfriend. She led me around. I loved it. Brins mesa was absolutely a gem. Would do this again for sure.
Trail head is small and hard to find a parking spot in but worth the wait. I rode in on my bike from the local skate park less than a mile away. Lots of views and trails to choose from. Definatley a fun surprise.
Three things to know about this hike: 1) this is a beautiful hike - the vegetation, the rocks, its so lovely 2) the park has limited parking, they dont let you into ithe parking lot until exactly 8 a.m. We arrived 20 minutes early and we were waiting in line and got the last spot. There is parking a few blocks away in the Jordan Street lot. You cant park on the street. 3) Bring a map or download the map from AllTrails!! The signage in the park is not good and there were lost hikers wandering all over the place.Getting to the cave was great, you get to see a sinkhole. The Seven Pools. The views were incredible. A must do hike in Sedona.
Amazing trail but a nightmare with parking. We ended up parking 1.3 miles away at the sedona dog park. Not too bad but the 95 degree weather made it a little bit challenging on the way back. I recommend doing this hike early in the morning before it gets too hot and pack lots of water! The cave at the end is pretty incredible and you can actual climb up into the shelf...hard to explain but you will understand when you get there! Its not too bad of a hike until the last bit to the cave. Its a bit of scramble up the rocks at this point but its only for about 5 min.
Great hike! However if using the All Trails app dont follow the soldiers pass trail to the end. We ended up bushwacking the last portion. Instead when it gets up to the Grim trail follow that. We meet a local who told us about a really neat plateau along this trail that was climbable and had great views. We were not disappointed.
Seems like a good hike or bike ride if you can get a parking spot. The 4wd trail is limited to 12 vehicles a day with a forestry pass. The trail is short but has a few good rock sections that test your grip really well.
Nice quiet trail, but very very limited parking. Only about 14 spots and absolutely no street parking.
Beautiful hike with a beautiful view. Not extremely pet friendly, and also biking is a no go. Great caves to have a little picnic in.
Small TH for an amazing hike. Good that its small. Limits the number of people using the trail. Only 14 parking spaces fyi if youre waiting online in the morning.
Hiked this trail at sunset with my darling and it was so romantic; loving vibrations everywhere! Many people on the trail but everyone was smiling. So if you need to turn that frown upside down, head to Soldiers Pass.
A great place to hike. Incredible views in all directions. Visit the Seven pools or the Sinkhole for a short scenic hike or extend your hike by connecting to the Adobe Jack or Jordan trail system. From the trails accessible from the Soldiers pass trailhead youll have views of Thunder mountain, Wilson Mountain and Brims Mesa. At times youll see Airport Mesa and Bell Rock in the distance. Most trails in the system are easy to moderate in skill requirements. There are some places where the trail narrows and there is the occasional rock scramble and a few steep grades. The trail system offers something for everyone.Safety tip: Always be on the lookout for bikes when hiking uphill. Youll hear them coming down but they wont necessarily see or hear you.
A great hike in a beautiful location. Moderate. Itll get your heart pumping.
All was just great except for an AC unit that was so noisy that one had to yell in order to have a conversation in the room. TV volume had to be taken to max as well...
Very beautiful peaceful place. Medium hike. Beautiful sorrounding areas. Thank you fir this beauty. Definately a place to visit and explore.
Great hike! Not super easy but not overly hard either. My 7, 5 and 3 year olds were champs - had a few spills but they did all 4.1 miles on their own. The 7 Sacred Pools was a really cool stop along the way, early on in the hike, then from there, you spend time under cover of trees a lot with times when you pop out into the sun. Lots of switchbacks, small drop offs and just a whole lot of gorgeous. There are some spots where the rock at your feet is rather smooth so be wary of those spots as you can slip. The view from the top is stunning!!
The trails were well maintained. The parking is very limited, but it keeps foot traffic to a minimum, which helps to avoid the crowd. The hike is hot on the afternoon sun with few breaks for shade.
This is a great trail with a number of things to stop and check out. The trail is mostly light with some moderate up-hills. YOU NEED A PARKING PASS TO PARK HERE. You can buy them ahead of time at the Circle-K or some city buildings.
Absolutely a visit if you are into hiking. Lots of trails around.
Trailhead parkjun open at 08:00AM and get to the line at 07:50AM and was not able to get in the lot. Had to drop my kids and wife at the parking and had to go out all the way to Sedona Dog Park street parking. (It was additional one way 1.2mile hiking). Many people at the Sacred Pools and more people at the Soldier’s Arch. Took total of 2hr for trail only and 40mins for additional 2.4 round trip to play parking.
Beautilful hike! Lots of people out today.
Excellent trail it is a bit of a hike for beginners but worth the trip. Bring water two bottles per person min recommended.
Great trail for all ages. Made the choice to steer off path and go to the cave. Enjoyed everything about my experience. Limited parking and no bathrooms.
Easy to hard choices for hike. absolutely beautiful. and there is shade
Beautiful, lots to see, not very strenuous.
Great trail loved hiking this weekend. First time in town and will definitely return . Catch me on the trails .
If you go hiking here the best part is the cave on the side trail. Not an easy hike . Pretty much contrast of greenery and mountains is the best beauty. Great walk for almost anyone including kids and dogs ( except up to caves) .
The most important information you will read on soldiers pass! The gate will open only from the inside after 6pm. The lot permits 16 vehicles only.To access the cave, you will have to venture off to the right of the trail before you see the “red rock secret mtn, wilderness” sign. Then keep left on the flat Mesa and keep going up.
Love this trail! Everytime we go to Sedona, I have to hike this one! Takes you by the giant sinkhole, the seven sacred pools, and the views are just breath taking! This is a more advanced trail though, so be prepared to do some steep climbing. Not recommended for those with knee problems, back issues, or inexperienced climbers. Well worth the time for those that want an adventure!
Best trail we visited in Sedona. Gorgeous views and fascinating rock formations.
Great trail except of youre going to the caves it can get a little tricky to find the right trail. So make sure to look at the maps.
Very scenic hiking area. The parking lot can fill up quickly and you will need a Red Rock Pass to park here.
Parking lot is always full. Park by the Sedona swimming pool and walk to the trail. Or try parking at Jim Thompson trail head where there is a bigger parking lot.
First hike we did when we got to Sedona, Devils kitchen and the Seven Sacred pools were really amazing. Did also three other trails that were off shoots of Soldiers Pass trail.
Beautiful and great photo opps! Loved it!
Such s beautiful hike. The vista you get to see when you get to the highest point is so beautiful. Finding the secret cave is very fun but do your research online first
Wanted to drive up there but it was closed
Beautiful hike. lots of great vistas. seven pools a great stopalso a must is the sink hole.get to parking lot 7.30. there are only 14 cars allowed in lot. the other parking will be a distance from trail head.
This trail is awesome! Not too difficult and many options for length since it’s many trails connected together. The views here are incredible. There’s a large sinkhole, lots of plant life, and not too much elevation change. Only thing is the trailhead parking lot is super small and there is no parking allowed in the neighborhood so you may have to park a few miles away and walk to the trailhead.
Beyond what I imagined. Recommend the arch cave for sure. Take the plateau trail to the left after passing the sacred pools! Its wonderful!
Another amazing trail in Sedona! We walked to the 7 Devine pools I believe it was called. This was the trail that took us there and its worth the walk
Very risky, not the place I would recommend to people exploring Sedona. Cliffs, loose rocks, and cowboy killers along the way. Please hike with caution if you must. ️
Amazing place. A Must to visit, not crowded and full of beauty.
Easygoing hike with great views all along. You can choose to stop and turn back at any point of the trail, whether that be Devil’s Kitchen, the Seven Sacred Pools, or beyond, making this ideal for even beginner trail goers.
Off road permit and key required to drive to Seven Sacred Ponds
Pretty trail. Not too difficult, but not a lot of shade. If youre going in the summer, go early morning because its terribly hot with not much relief in the afternoon
I enjoyed hiking this trail a lot. There is not much parking. We only got a parking spot because we took a motorcycle.Lovely hike with stunning views.
Only 16 cars, maybe 17, can fit in the parking lot. There is no parking available on the side streets and a second ordering
Beautiful hikecwith so many cool sites along the way. We passed Devils Kitchen, 7 sacred pools then went off trail up to the cave.
Great place to hike, trail is wonderful. But be prepared to park a mile+ away and have to walk in. We got there at ~730am & the tiny lot had 12cars and was completely full!! All the roads right around the trailhead are no parking zones (god forbid the rich people who own homes right next to the trail might have to look at the peoples cars parked while they hike public land) You also MUST HAVE a Red Rocks Pass to park there, we got one for a few bucks at a local gas station. If youre going to hike here just plan accordingly for the parking nightmare.
Enjoyed the hike, some wilderness, lots of trail. Got to stop by the sink hole, seven sacred pools, soldiers arch.
We did soldier pass to brim mesa. 5 plus miles. Trail junction was highlight for me.
Instead of doing the regular soldier pass hike we took a detour to explore these caves. You can find this route using Google. The caves were definitely a hidden gem. We scrambled to get up to the caves and saw some really cool sights.
Beautiful place. Lots of rocks but easy hike.
Nice views the hike kicked my butt make sure u start early jaja
Amazing trail. Thank you Arizona parks and service!
Nice long hike, not too high impact, early morning is best time the parking lot fills up quick and mid day gets pretty warm
Beautiful but not easy hike
One of the best hikes in Sedona, moderate effort, spectacular views, nice cave to visit.
Very fun hike! Very small parking area, maybe 18 spaces? We had to park about a quarter mile away, outside of the neighborhood next to it on a Monday around 1pm. Amazing views of all surrounding mountains.
Parking is real bad. Its better to take a jeep tour through the area especially in the summer
Small parking lot for 10-12 cars and requires the Red Rock pass. Park on the main road for free instead. The trail is easy to moderate and shared with mountain bikers. If you head NW, you get to see the sacred pools, devils kitchen, and a lovely view about 2 miles in.
Great Trail you dont even have to leave town. Beautiful scenery we took the dog very level pretty easy Trail.
Wonderful vistas and plenty of diversity all amidst being surrounded by beautiful red mountains. In the beginning of the trail there is a vast sinkhole then further on amazing vistas once you reach the top of the trail.
Mary, the tour guide, made this a terrific experience. Was able to learn about Sedona, the scenery, and wildlife while also being in it.
Our favorite hike of the week in Sedona. It had the most variety of terrain and views. The seven sacred pools is very cool. The sink hole is awesome. We went off trail and found two small domes that had the most amazing views. The hike itself was easy compared to other ones we did (Doe Mtn and Fay Canyon).
Ive never hiked in my life, but from what I understand is that Sedona is the capital of the USA for trails.
Plan on walking to the trailhead...but SO SO SO BEAUTIFUL!! WORTH EVERY STEP!
It was a challenging hike and the views were beautiful. The trail could have been a little better marked. We did make a few wrong turns.
We always love taking the alternative route into Sedona from Tucson. The sunset view is awesome.
Get there EARLY. only 14 cars allowed to park at a time. Had to wait about 30 mins to park.
Great easy short hike trail to the sacred pools.
Beautiful short hike to the seven sacred pools.
What a great hike.
Quick and easy! Beautiful trails!
Beautiful easy hike with great views. The cave was better than I imagined. Be sure not to miss it!Although that side trail Id rate as moderate/difficult. Side trail is after the 7 sacred pools, and just before the secret forest sign. Liked more than Devils Bridge.
Great hike to experience the beautiful red rock in Sedona. We reached the pass and turned around. There is a nice tree to rest on the way up to the pass. The parking lot is very small and seemed like it would be full at most times, especially on weekends. We had to park on the road leading to the trailhead, which was a 15 minute walk. There wasnt much traffic on the road itself so getting to the trailhead was relatively safe.
Park on the street or youll get towed you have been warned
Great hike! Everything looked beautiful! Definitely gets your work out in!
A very chill hike with amazing views.
This was an easy hike with very little elevation change. There is a lot of hiking on rock or smooth ground- which is nice. We looped back around via the Jeep trail and enjoyed the flat ground. Wonderful views!
Beautiful
Cool short hike in Sedona. Great views of the valley.
The trail was a great hike. You get to hike over some rocks and along the side of the hill. You even get to see a GIANT sinkhole.
Really good trip
Great hike out here. Beautiful with lots of of trails and climbing to do
Gorgeous easy hike with parking right in town.
Great beginner hike. Make sure to stop and see the sink hole and Seven Sacred Pools
Not much parking as an alternative Jordan Trailhead or if feeling ambitious try the Adobe Jack trail to Soldiers Pass
Nice trail.. very enjoyable
One of our favorite hikes in Sedona. Good for newbies and still has a lot to show and impress you with.
Not a lot of parking at this trialhead but we were lucky and got there when someone was leaving. The hike is wonderful. It was a moderate trail with lots of beautiful sites to see and take in.
Great trail, loved the caves, and the 7 pools.
One of the best trails! A must see and a must do!
Great Sedona hike, very small parking lot (14 cars max). Great views of the Sedona area
