Amazing trail! Was about 4 miles round trip total, very slight gradual incline. It’s fun because you cross quite a few bridges (5??) and go along the river the entire way! Mostly shaded trail, dog-friendly, and gorgeously picturesque!Suggestion: I wish I had had water shoes to walk through the river or go under the water fall. But my trainers did just fine! The parking lot is small, so you might have to park a little bit away!Going to be a new favorite spot!!

I thought this hike was great! I took my mother, husband and three small children, ages 4, 4, & 7, and we all did great The entire trail took just over 2 hours. There was amazing scenery and my kids were saying ‘mommy, look at this’ the entire time Make sure you wear a sweater. I had read many negative things about the parking situation, so we left at 6:15 and we were the first car to arrive at 6:45. When we got back to our car at 9ish there was another car pulling up to take the last parking spot. I was a little disappointed that the trail wasn’t marked the entire way and would just say ‘when in doubt, follow the river’. At the end of the trail it gets a little rocky but keep following the river and you’ll arrive fine

Its so hard to know how to rate this. The trail--absolutely gorgeous. One of the most beautiful places in New Mexico. But the experience? Unfortunately, theres no parking available. The lot has a maximum allowed capacity of 5 vehicles or less (with signs threatening to tow vehicles) and no parking alternatives given nearby. This can lead to more than a slight inconvenience when the lot is at capacity since its about a half-hour drive from the city. Some solution desperately needs to be found that satisfies the private land owners and allows this natural treasure to be shared with visitors.

What a beautiful hike!!! We got there before 7 so we could get parking. There are only about 4-6 places. Fortunately, the lady who blocked us came so we could leave. It is a one lane private road in, but this hike was SO worth it! I brought watershoes to go by the waterfall. You cross the river about 5 times and when you come to a fork, go left to see the first lower falls then go back up to the right to see a lot of cascades and another larger falls.

Visited the area from Texas. Found this trail about 10 mins from where we were staying. Read reviews and went by what others said. Got to the trailhead about 630AM due to what others said about parking (4 cars). I was the first one. Such a cool hike. Very surreal and peaceful. Only did the 4 mile round trip to the first waterfall. You can go further to another waterfall but its another 2 miles making the round trip 8 miles I believe. There are a few challenges like crossing the creek a few times and especially getting to the first waterfall. Got to climb a little bit. Definitely worth it.

Fantastic hike! About an hour and a half in youll find a great waterfall. The trail follows the river and crosses it several times along the way. Parking can be tricky but worth it.

Nice, easy to moderate hike with one of my favorite waterfalls in NM in the middle. There was a cool ice tube surrounding the falls this year. I came out around this time last year and it had mostly melted.Tried the upper approach before coming down here but wasnt prepared for all the snow and icy trails. Maybe save the upper for later in the season.

Great trail to hike with dogs. Leash only for the initial start, then fun trail with swimming in the river for the puos.

Great hike up to the waterfall. Sad that the folks that live there are such NIMBYs and parking is an issue. Only four cars are allowed to park when theres easily space enough for several more. Unfortunately, they are threatening to close the parking. Go really early, late or during the week.

It’s a beautiful hike. It’s 4 miles to the waterfall and 4 miles back. We never make it to the waterfall because my kids are to tiny and it’s gets a little difficult at the end. Beautiful regardless. Just a warning, unfortunately no one follows leash laws, so if you have a nervous dog be warned. Unfortunately most of Santa Fe is like that. People don’t take in account that while they may have friendly dogs others may like space or be more protective. If your going to have your dog off leash, it needs to be well trained and stay near you.

The highlight of my recent trip to Santa Fe! This trail is worth the narrow access road and parking hassle (tip: park away from parking lot and walk to trailhead). We were able to cross the stream in most areas using stepping stones and tree limb bridges, but you CANNOT see the waterfall at the end without getting your feet wet. Its worth it and I highly recommend this trail.

We had a very scary experience hiking this trail. Half way through the trail we decided to turn back around. On our way back to the trailhead, we saw a man who was very quiet. We said hi but he did not respond. We thought nothing of it and hiked on. About 5 minutes later we turned around and the man was directly behind us. We sped up and the man sped up with us. We are not 100 percent sure had bad intentions but we both had a gut feeling something was off. We ran back to the trailhead and drove off. I am sure it is a beautiful hike all the way up but it is extremely secluded and there are barely any hikers on the trail. Please bring someone with you and do not hike this trail by yourself.

This trial is close to santa fe. I would say this is an oasis in the desert. A small stream can change the whole look of the landscape. This hike was not crowded when we hiked it. We hardly say 5 people. The hike itself is pretty easy and short. I would recommend everyone to do this hike on a weekend if you are in Santa Fe and have fewhours to spare.

Creepy trail head parking area and very isolated area... there was a very narrow road for the short of last mile to get there and road only can fit one car ..single lane !!....so this was very dangerous and scary....then an Aggressive older white man with an older sorta Suv, he had kinda long white hair in a ponytail.. banged on our car window !! and said he lived around there and was trying to have conversation...he came out of nowhere. Strange and flirty creepy dried out older man 60ish maybe.. wearing a goofy sorta cowboy hat..harassing agressive nature...seemed lonely....finally left us alone after we locked ourselves in our car and rolled up the rest of all our other windows... so then he drove off way up past toward the trail head on the dirt/gravel road up to his supposedly house..so We all then took off without hiking there...We probably should have reported this man to police.
