Absolutely amazing! They have all kinds of bugs, reptiles and fishes. They gave us a brief Overview of some bugs which was incredible. 10/10 would recommend!
Best bug museum in the Albuquerque/Santa fe region. Its at a weird location next to Ross but still a respectable exhibit. I was impressed by their pinned insect collection. Their dedication and technique is unbelievable. Even to the tiniest mites. It was also quite enjoyable to see their two axolotls in person, one of them named aptly toothless.
Very cool selection of live insects, reptiles & a few other kinds of animals (including a lungfish & axolotls!!!). Impressive displays of preserved insects & fossils. Loved the names of the different animals, a lot of them were cheesy, but adorable. Gift store had great selection of toys, small fosils, edible bugs, etc. Inexensive entry fee for the museum. You have the opportunity to touch the safe insects. Entrance to bug museum is inside the Traders market (which also has cool stuff to look around&see).
This place is AMAZING! The owner started out with his collection and has been running 8 years strong. You cannot beat the price for any family gatherings in Santa Fe and they have plenty of free parking. This was a great mix of education and fun. Plus the shopping mall is dog friendly if your dog friend is well behaved.
It was a lot of fun! You get to be a little closer to the bugs than in most zoos. There are lots of bugs and creepy crawlies to check out plus a huge collection of mounted bugs. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that its a little pricier than youd expect for an exhibit in a mall. (But it is still less than a visit to the Childrens Museum). Definitely a good way to spend an hour or so.
We had a great time looking at all the amazing bugs. Also other critters, lizards, frogs, snakes, etc. daughter held a hissing roach, a tarantula, millipede, and some very strange thing that resembled a scorpion. Amazing collection.
Got to look at a lot of cool animals and bugs! Learned a lot about different beetles, moths, butterflies, praying mantis, etc.! So much fun, I would definitely check it out!Its also part of a traveling market, so I suggest walking around and looking at the different art pieces after!
This is a Santa Fe treasure for kids and adults. Oliver and coworkers are very knowledgable about all the exhibits. Always a treat to visit when I am in the City Different
We LOVED this place! Mr. Greer was so fun and knowledgeable. He told us a lot of interesting things about his collection. Mr. Harrell taught us about all the cool bugs we were able to hold. This is a cool, must-see place when youre in Santa Fe.
Great for kids! Feeding at 4pm daily and they let you hold lots of live bugs. Educational and fin for kids and adults. Small, but created by someone with a passionate hobby. He built many of the display cases, including a huge one at the back that he said weighs 500 lbs. A lovely specimen collection.
Visited with my two year old, and she loved it! So many different kinds of bugs and other cool animals to see. We stayed for feeding time my daughter loved watching. Will visit again.
Totally awesome! We are out-of-towners and were somewhat surprised to find that it is located in a shopping mall and didnt really know what to expect going into it. Its unconventional for sure, but the staff are very welcoming and the museum itself is very well done. All bugs and animals appeared to be quite well cared for, and the staff was clearly very knowledgeable about each of their individual needs. We really enjoyed watching feeding time and the fact that the feeding schedule is posted online made it possible for us to be there and get to see it. Staff also let us know upon arrival to let them know when were ready to hold some bugs. We did, and we got to hold some very interesting critters! We are childless adults who just happen to enjoy bugs and museums, but this would be a great outing for families with children of all ages. Very much enjoyed our visit.
Grandkids 3, 9, and 11 absolutely LOVED this place! They were so excited to tell their parents about it and have already asked when we can go back! Did not disappoint!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent displays of the critters whether alive or not. Some of the shelving holding the displays is not very sturdy. The guy who helped the kids hold the insects really knew his stuff and was great with the kids. Also very reasonable price to get in and they didnt gouge in the front shop. A great inexpensive and fairly quick stop for the kids.
This is so much more than a bug museum. It is a world bazaar of beads, clothing and rare artifacts. Take your time to enjoy the adventure.
So glad we looked this place up. My friends 4 year old is obsessed with scorpions. I was looking for an exhibit for their visit and found Harrell House. We went and got to view the scorpions with a black light and even watch feeding time. The tarantulas, snakes, and monitor lizard were also very cool.
We go here about every other time we go to Santa Fe. There is almost always a Groupon available that will save you some money. If not please still go, its so inexpensive to get in. Its located inside a mall but you will amazed how big and full this place is!! There is so much to see!! Spiders, scorpions, fish, lizards, turtles, snakes, and more. Depending on what time you visit you might be lucky enough to witness feeding time! That was such a cool experience!! Almost every time we visit we are offered to hold a few different friendly crawlers. A very cool experience for the young and old alike.
An unexpected pleasure. From the outside I didnt expect much, but it turned out to be a fun and interactive experience. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Very interesting time. Would definitely recommend.
My five year old loved it! He got to hold a snake and touch a cockroach. The museum is a bargain by Santa Fe standards and the staff want you to learn and have fun.
A great place to visit if youre in Santa Fe, tons of cool creatures from live bugs to reptile and amphibians. Pretty cheap too
My family and I visited as we spent the weekend in Santa Fe. This place is located inside DeVargas Shopping Mall. We had a blast and amazed at the various species of insects and the pink butterfly was a hit with my daughter. The presenter was knowledgeable and the hands on portion was a great experience for the young and adult alike. Definitely a must stop if you are in the area. Friendly and courteous staff.
My daughter enjoyed handling various bugs. Glad we made time to fit it in to our Santa Fe visit
Awesome species and displays. Also got to hold a ball python Also price is great
Took our granddaughters to this museum, but we really enjoyed it too. Very affordable entry fee, great learning experience, girls got to hold a bug. They loved it.
So much fun, we were given flashlights so we could look in the dark cages. My son had such a great time. We drove up from Albuquerque and I would recommend it if you have a kiddo who loves bugs!
I loved this place! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly and so are the bugs. I was even able to hold some of them!
Bugs are awesome and we should learn more about them so were not so afraid of them
Great reasonably priced activity for any nature lover! Really enjoyed my visit.
Loved it! There were people showing us bugs and even let us hold some!!! Very fun place to go with kids.
My family truly enjoys our frequent visits to the museum. The show and tell touch and hold at the end is always fun! You will enjoy it too!
That is a terrific family experience for the whole family. Staff is very attentive and informative.we were there at 4 PM so we were able to watch the feeding of many animals. The kids were ecstatic with the entire event.
We stopped in to see the collection and were really impressed with the variety of the bugs and reptiles. We got to touch a few bugs and even handle a beautiful ball python! We really enjoyed spending time here and seeing the interesting creatures! Entry was inexpensive, less than the cost of a fast food lunch. Go visit if youre in the area!
Definitely lots of amazing bugs. Butterflies, katydids, beetles, scorpions, spiders, and so on. Plus some turtles and lizards and snakes!! Got to hold some of the bugs, which is something I NEVER thought I would do!!
Toddler loves it, he always comes away with a new favorite bug or animal.
This is an incredibly accessible big museum with a BONUS small reptile collection. They handled the insect touch opportunity very well, and were very patient with my 8 year old. Check their schedule for feeding time, informative and exciting to watch! The mice for the reptiles are not live, so it wasnt gruesome. I will go back.
Took our 2 girls, 7yrs old and 3yrs old. They had a great time. There is so much to see there. We held a tarantula, whip tail scorpion, a giant milipede and a hissing cockroach. There are tons of exibits for everyone.
Went for a kids birthday party. The kids really enjoyed it, the staff were knowledgeable, and after the party they fed the reptiles their weekly feedings so those who lingered behind got to watch.
Great for kids. Cool display. The staff was great and let my son hold a ball Python.
Great staff. Great dry bug collection. The kids loved the reptiles. Stop by to kill a little bit of time.
Such a cool place to visit and face your fears of bugs! You learn a lot to and even get to touch and hold a few! Mostly spiders! Such a cool visit!
A great place to take the kids, we had a great time and it is not expensive.
It was a fun experience
Such an awesome place! I got there around 5:30 PM on a Tuesday, 30 mins from closing but we were still able to go in quickly and hold some of the specimens there! It was awesome!
Awesome place. Interesting for any age group. Helpful, educational staff that is very friendly. A must stopping point if visiting or living in Santa Fe.
Great place to visit. Took my wife and grandson. He held tarantula, cockroach, and millipede. We also watched staff feed the tarantulas.
Bugs! Beautiful! Plenty to peruse. Plenty to ponder. Kafkaesque ruminations for weeks on end. You better check this place out!
This was so much fun. My 10 and 12 year olds loved it. So many live bugs and bug species to look at. The colors and sizes were amazing. The pictures dont do the place justice. Most people will never see bugs like this. Even zoos dont have this many specimen to look at. If your kids like bugs at all, you need to visit this place if you are in Santa Fe.
Cool little creepy-crawly museum. Has reptiles and fish, in addition to bugs like spiders, millipedes, and cockroaches. Some animals are available for handling. Great place for kids.
This is the greatest bug museum inside a flea market ever! They let you pet bugs!!!!!!!
It was really fun I spent a long time here and came back later for feeding he told me about a scorpion I wanted to get and it was really fun to see the reptiles and insects!
Small but it was great fun for the whole family. We got to hold exotic bugs and learned something new! Love the bug museum!!!
Best kept secret in Santa Fe... our kids love it!
I love this place! Great place to bug out! This is a family event. Teachers 10% off...
So fun! Your kids will love it and they have a section to touch someof the bugs. It was so fun and so worth it!
A lot of cool stuff here! Used collectors stuff. Jewellery. The bug museum requires entry fee. I do not know how much.
Kids loved this place! Fun afternoon when we couldn’t be skiing.
Small, minimal charge to see some pretty amazing insects, butterflies, Beatles, and many living creatures too. My 7 year old daughter loved it...we stayed intertained for a few hours. The folks that run the place were wonderful and fun. They let us know ahead of time when it would be time to feed the big spiders crickets and roaches. It was neat to hear their story and learn about where everything came from. They had a great, affordable little gift shop too. We found a bunch of fun things to bring home that were interactive to keep the fun going. I wasnt sure at first, but this place turned out to be a must see.
Supper awesome collection of bugs, there are so many to look at. The live animals are awesome and they bring them out for you to hold! Great family fun place!
I was not able to take ONE picture because all glassboxes with the animals were inside AND outside too dirty!!!!!!! That is not nessesary.
The best museum Ive ever been to. Everything was beautiful. I touched a hissing cockroach and it was weird but cool. I also touched a millipede and a tarantula. They rocked my socks off. Im going to return for sure. The legless lizard was amazing and adorable. 1000/1000 millipede legs
Great collection of bugs live and mounted. Some live reptiles and amphibians. More than worth the small admission. Very friendly staff. Bought an impressive mounted scorpion that my son will love.
This was a fun place to go in Santa Fe. Lots of different live bugs and several collections of mounted insects. It was quite amazing. We just walked around on our own and there was a lot of free time and space to do what we wanted and take it at our own pace. In one room there was a discovery area with books and chairs. Kids who wanted to learn more could do that while dad and mom sat and rested, or participated in the reading and exploring. There was also a little gift shop including plastic bugs and reptiles, rocks, and some t-shirts and stuff.
Visited this place on a whim! Definitely worth the admission! Knowledgeable & friendly staff. If you are in Santa Fe you must visit this Museum! Great for ALL ages!
Alot of bugs worth the visit
I took my 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old sons here and they had a blast! A wide variety of live bugs and mounted specimens, also live reptiles, amphibians, fish, and crustateans. Hands-on demonstration where my boys got to hold and touch a tarantula and millipede was awesome. The staff is great and the museum is a reasonable size for small children with a short attention span. To be honest, I had just as much fun as the boys.
If you like bugs this is the place to go. Great owner and exhibits. Small toy/tocks and things to putchase as well. Hands on time with bugs also. Well worth a visit.
My expectation was not that high admittedly... but wow this place was awesome! The bug collection is huge! The living species are awesome, and the bug holding at the end was freaky and cool
Completely surprised by how much fun me and my 6 year old cousin had.
Much more than bugs. My grandkids loved it (ages 6, 4 and 1). Very friendly staff. Would definitely go again.
Such a fun little museum! They have a bug show where you can actually hold the bugs. They also feed the snakes and lizards. Its a nice little museum and really affordable. Definitely a good experience for kids and adults!
Wonderful staff, live insects and arachnids to observe and touch and an incredible collection of mounted bugs. Also, I believe that the owners insect art is currently featured in more than one room of Meow Wolfs House of Eternal Return. Very cool.
Awesome! My daughter loved it and constantly talks about how much fun she had
Small museum but many many crittily crawlers! Nice displays of bugs and spiders alive and dead
If you love bugs you will LOVE this place, thousands of bugs to study and even hold some of them.
Soooooo freakin cool! There are so many bugs, critters, and assorted creatures to keep any interested child or adult entertained and excited. You might not get over your fears in one visit, but you will hopefully gain a new appreciation for the animals with whom we share the world. Do NOT pass up the chance to hold some of the specimens. It was such a cool experience to hold a tarantula and a cockroach (and Im not a bug person at all)! I cannot recommend this place enough. The museum itself is located inside the mall, though there are no signs outside to direct you (that I saw).
Awesome collection of bugs both live and pinned
Bugs, dinosaurs & mystery. Enjoy!
A fun place full of bug and insects! Our 6 year old daughter and 5 year old son loved this place! My daughter was able to hold different kinds of bugs (hissing cockroaches, giant millipedes, and red haired tarantulas). My son was a bit of a scaredy cat - lol.The place is hard to find as it is in the shopping center thus cannot not be seen from outside.OVERALLA fun, buggy little place that I would recommend for anyone not scared of bugs. (smile)
Super awesome place to check out & hold bugs!
Great collection! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Awesome place to see animals that are beautiful.
Great Place for the kids. Lots of bugs on display and you get to hold them.
Wonder animals, knowledgeable staff, and a massive pinned collection of insects. The Bug Museum offers guests the opportunity to hold, touch and learn about various insects, including Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and tarantulas.
Always fun and interesting. Even bigger space and more in collection.
My 8 year old daughter loved it.
We saw some cool bugs, insects and reptiles, as well as, got to hold a few; a vinegar scorpion, feinting beetles, a millipede, a hissing cockroach, and my son pet a tarantula.
A great spot for kids of all ages. Affordable family fun in SF. Staff are nice and great with kiddos. Worth the trip.
Neat place great collection.
Well worth the visit and the staff are great!
Loved it! Good exhibit of live spiders and large collection of dry insects. Opportunity to hold and touch 5 different and scary bugs was unforgettable.
These guys are awesome!!! This collection is the largest Ive ever seen, museums included. This is a must see!!
I like what theyre trying to do here, they have a very neat collection that showcases insects from around the world, however the small and sparse habitats for the living insects and reptiles was pretty depressing.
Worth every second and every bug
These guys are really cool!!!
Not very big but interesting
Completely unexpected. The kids and I learn so much while having fun. We cant wait to go back.
Bugs lots of bugs, its in a mall nice place, will visit again!!
