Lots of birds. Trails not difficult. Beautiful scenery.

The trail was closed due to fire danger, but I was able to view the garden path and the house. It was well worth visiting for those aspects alone. The grounds are well-kept, and the volunteers were very helpful and friendly. I will definitely make a repeat visit once the fire issue is resolved.

Great quick little hike. You have to find a spot in the woods and sit still, let the birds come to you. If you walk the whole time you’ll scare most of them off and not see much. For more privacy, real forest, and increased critters, take the side trail.

Friendly, conveniently located, Trail is short but beautiful. Not heavy traffic. Would’ve opted to do the tour of the house, but husband didn’t want to.

This is a small nature center located on the east side of Santa Fe. It has a small display room, books for sale, a pretty flower garden, and a 2-3 mile hiking trail. There are also historical buildings that were artist Randall Daveys homestead. The site is very attractive to birds and depending on the season, offers a wide variety of our feathered friends. There is a small entry fee.

An unexpected surprise in Santa Fe. If youre a birder, the property has plenty of land and habitat to have some good times exploring. Look for the large family of wild turkeys.

Situated in the mountains above Santa Fe at the end of Canyon Rd, this is a wonderful bird sanctuary with lots of trails. I like it because its got some manageable hiking trails - they are steep but there are places to stop and search for wildlife (dont forget your binoculars!). Staff is friendly and if you dont feel like a hike there is a small garden with benches you can sit and relax in. Drop by the gift shop for bird books, bird feeders and other gifts for bird-lovers. Every Saturday they have a bird hike with a local expert and they keep track of species spotted on a board in the front. A hidden gem of a sanctuary!

Has always been one of my favorite places to hike in sf. My toddlers also enjoy it!

Learned many new birds (for me, a beginner) on the weekly Saturday walk. Also enjoyed the trails past giant Ponderosa pines.

Some nice easy trails, good selection of bird books, close to town, easy to find just keep going to end of the road.

Beautiful scenery but the trails are not well marked. Be careful there are no trespassing areas that are easy to wander into unknowingly and there is a large fine posted.

What a great place! My husband and I were in the Santa Fe area and happened upon this place while checking out general birding in a Google search. We found the Center and took a short hike, and signed up for a Saturday morning birding field trip. It was great! Of the 12 or so people there, all but the two volunteers leading the trip were from out of state, like we were, just passing through. Great birding, very friendly and knowledgeable guides (Corkey and Warren), and perfect chilly weather for winter birding in the southwest. Great place with LOTS of bird activity!If youre in the Santa Fe area and are a birder, DO make one of their Saturday 8:30 AM field trips. We were actually spending the night before up in Los Alamos, but it was well worth getting up very early and driving back down to Santa Fe to join this field trip! The bonus was the fabulous scenery of all the red-rock mesas in the early morning light!

A serene place. Watching the many hummingbirds buzzing about is a joy.
