At the right time of year, the vistas are gorgeous! Aspen trees turning in the fall _ colors are amazing. Improved parking area along the road and take a walk along the forest service road into the Aspen trees. Hike 100 yards or multiple miles to the top.

Amazing, a little bit late, most aspen leaves have fallen.

This is a.popular destination for folks who want to get some mountain atmosphere. You can simply walk up the road that goes to the radio/phone towers or you can branch off.on trails that take a more challenging route up the mountainside. There are bathrooms available at.the parking site, but no running water. Be sure to bring your own. It is also best to visit this site in the morning hours since thunderstorms are quite common in July and August. Veteran hikers usually plan to be off the mountain by early afternoon. There are a few picnic tables available also but bring a blanket to be safe. Weekends are very crowded. The road and trails.are not accessible via wheelchairs. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash but many folks violate this rule. Tent worms are a major issue in June, often covering trails and the road. They are harmless, but not for the faint of heart.

I love coming up here year-round. The sights are indescribable. During the winter, everything is blanketed in snow, everything is quiet, and there is plenty of room to explore. During the spring, the birds are chirping and the picnic area is perfect to sit down with a few friends or family to share a meal. Not only that, but the drive isnt that far from Santa Fe.

Two good trails that lead to the Santa Fe Lake start here. Take the left (Alamo Vista Trail)for a shorter but steeper hike. Take the right for a longer but more gentle hike.

Beautiful and easy hike on an old logging road through groves of Aspen trees. It’s is lovely anytime of year but Sept-Oct is breathtaking. I’ve been in March as well with snow on the ground and the experience and views are just as good to me. It’s popular so you will pass several people and dogs. Great for families!

Came up to see the Aspens in Fall colors. It was the first weekend in October and the colors were Great. I think everyone else had the same idea as it was very crowded. Parking was kind of a free-for-all with some places being marked and others just being open space. That being said the other driver seem quite courteous in the area, not like some places Ive been.

Largest aspen forest in the state, BUT DO NOT USE THE PORT-A-POTTIES, THEY ARE TRULY DISGUSTING.. VERY HIGH USAGE AND VERY LITTLE MAINTANENCE...

Weirdly there were thousands of caterpillars infesting the trail... Kind of strange because of that but otherwise it was beautiful and a nice hike. Crowded parking lot, come early in the day to avoid crowds. Trail is wide enough to maintain social distancing.

This is such a special place, the Creator gave us a true Norman Rockwellpainting to walk through: Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter, Stunning!!!However, the only thing that can ruin it is thoughtless people, Please clean up after your dog: easy, guide him to the side, push dirt or snow over it.Be responsible, as you would for your child. One day, we entered and saw 14 piles, urine sprayed everywhere. Ugh! I simply kicked snow over each one,No More Unsightly Piles. Lets retain this gorgeous beauty, it shows our appreciation, nicer walks, better for tourism. Plastic bags arent soluble.Thank you (were wishing there was a sign).MCH, former Host for Clint EastwoodPBH, former Head Pro/GM for Pebble Beach

Aspen Vista is a popular place for hiking up the double Track Trail to The Summit of Tesuque Peak. there is another trial immediately inside the gate to the left which takes you up through a beautiful Meadow to the top of the chair lift. But the best kept secret is the picnic area. A short trail Leads into the woods behind the toilet block to several different separate picnic areas with great views and shaded by trees.
