The wine quality is what sent this to 5 stars. Not pretentious; ambiance is merely ok; but the wine quality trumped all that. This is where to start your Santa Barbara wine tastings and move on from there. This sister winery to Santa Barbara Winery is where the premium wines are to be had. Enjoy the tastings here and then move on to Santa Barbara Winery for the ambiance.

If you like Pinots and Syrahs, this is the best winery we know in the funk done of Santa Barbara for these. The tasting room is not pretentious but still has an upscale feel to it, thanks to the good taste of the items for sale in addition to the wines. $15 gets you a tasting of 6 wines. The pourer who helped us today was very knowledgeable about the vineyards, the choices made by the wine maker for each wine including the reasons behind the choice of specific clones . He also provided good insight into the tasting notes to expect. The place is welcoming and you can easily engage in conversation with other wine enthusiasts, as the space is just the right size.

Very friendly and hospitable staff. Pretty good red wines, did not care for their white wines.

Very rude and condescending staff, made me feel like they were going out of their way to let us drink a bottle of wine there that we bought from them. There were 4 of us just wanting a glass of wine and they only sold it by the bottle.

Love Kristy in the tasting room!!! She was comfortable and knowledgable without being pushy or snooty. Youd be so lucky to have her assisting you! The whole experience was top notch and the wine was out of this world!!! Love the Grenache/ Syrah blend and the dessert wine Riesling is also so worth the taste!!! We became members and will make this a stop in our urban route every time we come!

Lafond has consistently impressed. Usually visit the Buellton location but this is much closer. They offer delicious syrah and pinot wines from the Santa Rita Hills. If you enjoy this, be sure to travel down the street a few doors to their parent winery, Santa Barbara Winery.
