One of the best parks in San Jose. Lots of picnic spaces on first come first serve. On weekends, make sure you come as early as 7 am to secure a picnic table. Yes that early. If not, there are a lot spaces but you will need to bring your own table, chairs and bbq grill. The playground is great for the kids. They will very much enjoy it especially the water play area. The restrooms are clean and well maintained.
Small clean park with an adjacent long Coyote creek path for extra walking. Lots of water birds and fish in the lake. Great place for walks. Plenty of picnic tables and benches.
Nice 9 hole disc golf course here. Challenging enough for the average player, but really fun for just about any skill level.
Park is ok - fairly small, based around a man made lake. But excellent cycle & walking trail northbound to San Jose and southbound to Morgan Hill.
The park is nice, thought the trash needs to be picked up.However, the great playground is closed for repairs to further notice.
Beautiful park thats been recently updated and upgraded! This is a gem of a park in East San Jose, with ample parking, wide open spaces, a small lake, great, new playgrounds, and new water features for kids. There were a lot of geese, ducks, and other birds enjoying the area and lake, adding wildlife to the beautiful scenery and sounds of families and children playing.
Friendly walk and jogging and bicycling, always great to be around nature. All these fauna and flora, plus the lake invite you to relax. ( friendly reminder if you own a pet please help the park and clean after you dog .) Thank you
A good play ground and park combination. The playground is wood based and feels a bit more safe for it. However, the size is not as large as others in the area, limiting the number of kids that can play a bit. The smaller kids section is very low to the ground in contrast to the average in the area, but is also well surrounded by soft flooring. The biggest oddity is the all wood climbing area.
My grandkids and I went to the playground and had a great time. Very nice and fairly new. I could easily see them and stay in the shade.
Nice park. Theres a lake of some sort. A bike and walking trail. Clean park and very clean restrooms. Energy is very calming there with all the animals.
Great place to be. Fun for kids and family. Large parks for younger and older kids. Theres a little splash area where kids can get wet and play in water. Bathrooms are big so no need to wait if theres alot of people. Overall great park to go to.
We love this park. Definitely worth the $6 for parking and parking has not been a problem any of the times we have gone. They have a variety of play equipment from toddler to big kid, with some really neat climbing stuff for bigger kids. We also love the walking paths, the big open field, and the pond. The highlight of this park though is the splash pad, which is the very best in the South Bay. They have recently added shade to the seating areas around the playground, which makes a huge difference
It was nice I just walked like in the forest area for a little bit and it was pretty . But you shouldnt go out of public sight if your not in a trusted group, I would think . but Im pretty smart and safe and strong . But I did walk on the little bridge in the front . Very cute . And the little path to the bridge. Like a month ago I did this
Very nice park near evergreen.. a good paved but bumpy road for cycling..about 0.6miles round the lake.. great for kids and toddlers to bike around. quite crowded during covid times. Few folks with masks and few are not wearing. Anyways stay safe maintain distance wear mask and enjoy the park.
We had a wonderful time at this park. We are lucky to have such a beautiful place to spend our Sundays.
Great place o picnik, walk, or ride bikes. Clean, beautiful not crowded during the week!
First time bike riding on the trail with my 4 yr old son and we loved it!!! Nice and clean..lots of shade, so its perfect on warm days. Trail is very well kept. Just be careful of poison ivy or oak...there is tons of it off trail...
Beautiful Park I have been coming here for 47 years. It gets better each time .Very well kept always.
Fun place to visit, walk, run or bike around and see some wild life. Will have to come back and check out the kids play area when the shelter in place is lifted.
I really wish they had that padded type flooring in the splash pad area but other than that love this place
Wow a great for a picnic, fishing, cycling and walking. Also has a shaded childrens pray ground with water fountain.
Very fun, kinda overgrown and rough terrain, hilly and not to woodsy, fun for all and has two tee pads for each of the 9 baskets, giving you plenty of options of play. Check it out, if you can and you probably will start on hole 8 because that is the hole you park next to. Go out and have fun. Hellyer park wont let you down.
Nice creek trail and lake area. Huge playground and grassy lawn. Good dog park and a random velodrome.
Its a nice park. Lots of activities for the kids and a bit of water play.
Nice small Lake with ducks if your in the mood for a walk around. Restrooms are open and nice atmosphere. Conveniently located near 101 freeway.
My cousin and I walked the path for the first time about 4 months ago and today I did it solo on the bike it was so enjoyable and peaceful
Easy access simple relaxing park with a good size lake and lots of walking trails. Nice easy getaway for south san jose area.
Very nice & huge park... Highly Recommended
Its a good park for biking, hiking, but there are so many people walking around or biking didnt want to share trail with others at all even though I called out on your left more than 2 times. They just ignored me. Or they gave me the bad attitude. The other day, I called out loud no one paid any attention to me, but the other side of the trail one lady yelled at me *why didnt you call* I told them I did. I guess whatever I do its not enough for people. Sometimes, they dont have a leash on their dogs either. Small children were not supervise by their parents during biking on this trail. Sometimes, I saw some kids were crying because they didnt know where their parents. They got panicked. This trail has so many homeless as well. If you want to bike here just be careful too. Over all, Its still a descent trail to get your exercise.
Great place for biking or hiking with small children. Easily access the Coyote Creek trail
Wonderful place to bike with a kid who has just figured it out! Little hills, little surface challenges, lots of path options, easy to stay away from cars
Nice, lots of people familys also. Lots of goose poop. Unfortunatley their is poisonous algea in the lake which is unsafe to people and deadly to animals. There are signs.
Its a beautiful place. Used to be an old quarry. Nice trails for walking and biking. Sometimes too many people tho..
Rode our bikes there along the trail towards Baskin Ridge and it was a nice flat terrain. Great hiking and biking trail.
I often ride on the coyote creek trail through Hellyer Park. It is a super ride and the park is nice too. Lots to see and it is not very crowded on weekday mornings.
Great new kids park at Hellyer lake. Very much needed upgrade from old kids playground. The new playground is bigger allowing more kids to play in. Have water fountains for kids to run and play to keep cool during hot days. Also a sand pit area for toddlers to play in. Does cost $6 to park your vehicle in the park.
Great park for the entire family. The newly installed play area and water pad have become the focal point of the park. A lot to do in this large park with family and friends. Moderate to heavy crowd in the play area. Lots of shade to beat the summer heat. Only negative are bird droppings in the min park area.
Nice and clean park. Provide picnic, BBQ, playground and water pad areas. You can reserve picnic table or BBQ table on their website. Or, first come first serve. $6 per vehicle at entrance gate. Park ranger provided a big plastic garbage bag while we were setting up our food in picnic area. Its a good idea to keep this park clean.
Nice somewhat secluded park with a big pond and plenty of picnic spots
I enjoy Hellyer Park its a beautiful place to bike ride with the family and to enjoy a peaceful walk. I gave it four stars because its inconvenient to find the restrooms closed, and have to use the portables doesnt make sense at all and could potentially be greater health risk.
Bath rooms. Were open and clean the dog park was nice and people fishing had fun it was a free day
Its so beautiful, trails, lake, and ducks, what more can I say? My kids love it!
Very nice has all the stories you could want and food places are great
PRETTY QUITE PARK TO GET A BREATHER FROM HOME
Great bicycle trail...it just never ends
Great space for gathering. Clean and quiet.
Nice fenced dog park area divided for large dogs or small. Nice people and dogs. Enough room to play ball. Water available and some seating with a couple of areas for shade. A bit dusty, but all in all a good place to take your dog to run and play.
Nice place, but there is too much duck poop everywhere kind of disgusting.
Enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere.
Bike trail is maintained well.
Great park to spent 5time with family
A very nice place to enjoy a walk around a lake or even drop a line to go fishing.
This is one of my favorite parks since its so near to my home and I always feel safe. My dogs love walking on the trails and on the grass since its so green.
Nice trail, too bad the water is so bad
Good park for bike, picnic, birthday party. Nice and clean play area. They have barbicue area at almost picnic table, restrooms. Also in summer they have water fountain for kids to play.
Came here on a Thursday early evening, plenty of people here but not overcrowded. I wanted baby to play in the sandbox in the toddler playard but it had puddles of water all in it, so maybe next time. Lots of other babies, ducks, and geese make for cute entertainment for babys day out at the park.
Hidden treasure. In the heart of the Eastside of San Jose where the culture is rich and diverse, the park itself is clean and well maintained. Always down to kick it here with the kids
Good for the family. Great for running
Beautiful and clean park, great for picnic!
Small for a county park but packed with attractive features, including a nice big playground, a creekside paved trail (Coyote Creek), and a gold course.
Has a great dog park
This is a great place to take little kids on a hot day. The splash pad is adorable, and was operational today even though it is only April. They have no dates or hours of operation posted. The bathrooms are right next to the splash pad, and there is even an outdoor shower there in case you accidentally lie in the dirt while wet. Lots of shady grassy areas for picnics. The play structure is a tree house type theme. Kinda like Tom Sawyer island at Disneyland back in the day. Does that still exist?Seven Seas is still my favorite overall splash pad park experience, because of the pirate theme and the nifty new and unusual play equipment. But Hellyer has the better splash pad and much more shade. Hope to see you there soon running around in your soggy diaper some hot Saturday afternoon.
Its a perfect lap around a beautful lake!
Fun park to visit.
My kids very love it park
Its nice to relax, have a family picnic, and bike, walk or jog around the park.
A beautiful park that we visit often. The kids park is really nice and they have a cute little toddler area. The lake is beautiful to walk around
The kid had a good time there
Lovely park with a huge playground, for different ages. Plenty of space to ride bikes, run or sit.Beautiful lake, fishing available.
It been restored and so nice to sit and see the beautiful hills and people fishing and joggers. People walking there dogs. A good place to study for dmv to renew your license.
A great park to visit. Has an awesome play area lots of places to climb, swings and a water play area. Also has a separate toddler area. Plenty of room to picnic and a lake to walk or bike around. Parking is $6 per day
Very nice place to go on walks or jogs on sunny days and very beautiful!
Go here for fishing or dog park! Plenty of picnic tables to host any type of event.
Nice place to walk or picnic, with family even bicycle. 1 of my favorite in San Jose.
Lake is beautiful, tons of grassy areas to relax and play on, and well kept overall. Bathrooms are clean and accessible. They just built a brand new playground, and its super fun! Parking is about $6, but you can also find parking outside of the park for free though it is a bit of a walk. Next to cottonwood lake there is another park with a velodrome and a dog park, both of which are super well kept as well. They open at sunup and close at sundown. Expect crowds in the summer or on holidays, people line up hours before opening to get the good tables! They also have certain picnic areas you can reserve for bigger parties, not sure how much they charge. Overall awesome place for parties, a casual stroll, or for kids to have a good time!
Nice place for fishing, walk and running.
Very special place, it has a pond with lots of birds, lots of space to walk or run, and an awesome playground for small and older kids. The park is part of Santa Clara county park system, so parking costs $6 per day, if you dont have an annual pass ($95).
There is very nice view
Under-appreciated park with tons of picnic tables and barbecue pits. Theres also a lake with lots of waterfowl and a huge open space larger than 2 football fields set side-by-side. Parking cost $6 though you can park in some of the surrounding neighborhoods and walk across for free.
This is a big nice park..... we have a lot of fun
Beautiful place.
Beautiful park and very clean
Very nice place to take the kids for a fun day. Picnic grounds, play area, water play area, clean restrooms.
Be careful homeless living in the creek area
Great park. Kids playground is really nice, plenty of picnic tables and beautiful pond you can stroll around.
Easy comfortable stop before Fort Ord. Picked up Halal guys from Ssn Fran and had a peaceful lunch next to the water.
Needs more parking and the creek needs an event each other month in cleaning out the creek from homeless junk and drug paraphernalia and should also put in a big playground on the other side of the park next to the bike track to attract more families
Great
What a beauty in our backyard.
I come here on any day with friends and park the car along the streets and just chill in the car. Chitchatting while looking at the awesome view of this beautiful city. Its not overrated as twin peaks and its super close to sunset district. I love it!
Lots of parking. Good place to go and escape crowds. Rainy Sunday morning practically had the place to myself.
Big playground for kids, lots of picnic areas, great payment walkway around the lake
Great park for the kids to play in but not that great for bbq too many ppls and not enough picnic areas... group party they park wants to charge over $200
Its a great getaway while remaining in town, and the dog park is spacious and clean and well kept.
