Heart of Japan TownJapanese cultural heritage site.Obon festival events a treat every year.
Buddhist message at its most authentic and heartfelt form!
Super nice building, it was just closed the day we visited, so we couldnt have a look inside.
Sacred place...have attended many services there, & I always sit on the steps & watch dancers during annual OBON festival.
Food at the Obon Odori Festival was good, friendly atmosphere, but very crowded, long food lines, no parking except on the streets.
The reason I went was somber one but a great service and I believe did justice to the man it was for!
Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful building (inside and out!) and welcoming to interested persons
Had the please of going to obon Festival in Japantown was a great time good food!
This was a really nice place to visit. They were closed the day we visited, but someone from the front office was nice enough to open for us. Really beautiful religious decorations inside. Gives you a real sense of peace being inside.
A little pricey but very high quality, enjoyable and nice atmosphere for family and kids
Great Obon. The food is delicious, and the San Jose Taiko delivered the best performance Ive seen.
An excellent place for Budhist spiritual, religious meditation
Toured this church during the San Jose Obon Festival.
Find peace, be calm. Live in the moment.
While attending an Obon festival, I saw a sign that the San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin was inviting people to come inside for an introduction to Buddhism. The priest welcomed everyone, discussed the role of the church in the community, and even explained some of the symbols displayed throughout the church. Very interesting.
Beautiful historic church in the heart of Japantown.
The childrens service at 930am is not to be missed.
One of the largest Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temples in the United States. The Hondo is a replica of the Amida-do in Nishi Hongwanji in Kyoto, Japan.
Peaceful retreat in the heart of the Japan town.
A weird hybrid buddhist/church
Beautiful temple with a nice garden.
Beautiful. Visit it if you can, in San Jose, California.
A truly beautiful edifice that is more than 100 years old, and makes Japantown San Jose a richer place of traditional buildings, people, customs and hospitality.
I have been attending the Annual Japanese American Day of Remembrance event for several years now. I very much like the facility. It is a very friendly environment.
Beautiful traditional Buddhist temple.
Went here for the San Jose Obon festival. Although hot, good location.
Historic part of San Jose Japan Town.
Large and historic Buddhist temple complex also serves as a local community center with an auditorium, sports courts, and meeting rooms.
