Went for a Twilight round at 2:30 PM. Positively beautiful course. Very well maintained, though the rough was a little tenacious. Even during the recent heat wave the course stayed relatively cool, with plenty of breeze. Not a great course for beginners, but fine for all others. Pretty challenging from the black tee box.
2020-Aug-28: Played twilight 4P. Got there early to use the range but there was a continuous line of people. We did get a 10min range warmup just before the tee time. Course layout is very nice. The ambiance of the mature trees and the well watered fairways made it look very green but some of the greens are in rough condition. UNFORTUNATELY the only PUBLIC RESTROOMS are PORTA POTTIES and the hand washing station dirty & overflowing with garbage so BRING YOUR OWN hand sanitizer or wet wipe packets. Typical SF weather very cold & windy (2 club wind) so have a long sleeve jacket and pants (not shorts). They are keeping 10min tee times while most other courses during Coronavirus are 15-20min. Play was VERY SLOW and there were no Marshals to push the slow players!!!
Golf course looked great. Challenging layout, several blind tee shots, with fairways sloping towards trouble. Accurate tee shot required. Ranger spoke to us like a child when telling us we were behind pace, although we were on every hole by ourselves. The only bummer.
Played during a business trip, staff was really great & accommodating. The starter was extra friendly. Course was in amazing condition for it being the end of November, and we got extremely lucky with the weather - perfectly sunny, clear and cool, which resulted in a beautiful day of golf. It was a little pricey for the non-resident tee time with club rentals, but with the reduced twilight time rates and overall experience it was definitely worth it.
Fun course, good condition and I will play again. Not an issue to keep me (or anyone else) from playing, but the golf carts are terrible I dont know who programmed them but they automatically stop everywhere, GPS doesnt work, and although they apparently have cool features like bluetooth connectivity, none of it worked for any of the carts in our group.
A piece of nirvana! Very challenging layout with hills, slopes, undulating greens and killer traps. Plays long with little roll and heavy air. A historic treat for any golfer. Play it more than once.
Great course but greens are really slow... Need to speed them up...
Great driving range with about 30 stalls. You may need to wait a bit to take a bay but worth it. A bit more expensive than other driving ranges but gorgeous view. You can also take lessons here and parking is easy near the club house or on the road by the range. Don’t forget cash and or a range card for the ball distribution.
Beautiful Golf course. Pristine and well taken care of but you really have to know what you are doing here because the weather can be quite interesting here.
Though Ive never played it I do walk my dogs around the outside of the golf course. It is beautiful this is the time of year to play when you cant early in the day.lead the day is going to be chilly and the wind is going to come up and theres always a chance of fog. They dont call it fog City for nothing. This is a piece I found near the cemetery for the veterans.
Challenging golf course with perfectly maintained green
One of my favorite places to play!
The grounds are nice, however, had a couple issues with some staff and did not have a great experience as a newcomer and a POC...and neither did my entire group. Purchased a range card, with funds still remaining, but doubt well be coming back.
Nice, difficult course. One of my favorites.
Yea, a golf course is a great fit in the otherwise beautiful, scenic Presidio. Let it starve.
Beautiful, great layout, and the staff was very pleasant!!!
Such a beautiful golf course.Wind can be very challenging and it blows every day.
Great golf course. 18 holes + driving range. Also their bloody Marys are amazing!
This was 5 plus stars back when it was military. Better maintenance and greenskeepers then. Nicer folks. Way better condition then due to the exclusivity I reckon. Still... Look where you are. Enjoy the views. Youre breathing in ocean air. Doesnt bother me if the pace is slow here ha ha. I have great memories of walking this course twice in a day back in the 90s.
Played the course today .. Greens were very slow .. not cut in days or rolled .. not worth playing for the price .. come on guys cut the greens !!!!

Went once 3 years ago and just made a tee time to go again next week. We’ll see how things are with the Covid conditions, I’ll be sure to report back with how the course has held up and how bad I hacked it up.
Play here a lot. Staff wonderful across the board. Inside clubhouse, bar and on the course. Including maintenance. This is a very underestimated course. Can be super cold and foggy. Bring or buy a bright ball. Have fun cos you will.
Beautiful course in great shape and well maintained. All the amenities you could ask for.
Pretty nice course but terrible pace of play. Staff is very nice and friendly, good course is nice and in good condition, pretty short but wind makes it challenging. Only problem is pace of play is awful. At least 5 hours to get through 18, never played a course that took so long.
Very cool course, staff are great, driving range is a nice feature, putting a and chipping area well maintained, food really good.
Well matained course!
Another outstanding place for a quick lunch their burgers are to die for thank you very much
Well kept. Staff very courteous. Crowded but still moved along. 4 and 1/2 hours for the round of golf. Not bad.
Great employees who make you feel like part of the family! The food is great and you can never have a bad time here. Great place to bring the family, or hangout with close friends.
Great Course. Loved the views, but the course condition is really poor.
Played this course dozens of times. Such a shame that a gem is run by such a terrible management company. I dont think its the employees fault, just policies handed down by people who dont play golf. They dont seem to understand basics of how to keep the course moving while packing tee times far too close together, not utilizing the back 9 tee box, etc. I always walk away from dealing with them feeling like Im at a dirty muni when it could easily be an A+ golf experience. Most Ive spoken with concur that its just not worth dealing with them and the slow/packed play.
Great golf facility, nice driving range! Like to breath the ocean air there
15 bucks for a hundred balls. Pretty decent
This is an excellent course, good condition, and challenging. Service was good, but keep in mind it is busy. Some warnings; the layout has significant elevation changes on every hole. The are No Flat Holes! You are mostly playing up hill, and the bunkering can be severe. If you are a high handicap player, youd do well to avoid this venue. Winds are frequently present, making it even more challenging! Views are mostly city hills and forest, lots of trees, narrow fairways, and somewhat punishing rough. Know your limitations.
One of the best courses in SF even if it isnt long
Great scenery, challenging wholes, just a great round of golf all around!
Great place to hangout and have fun playing golf
Very popular golf and golf range, bar and restaurant also. Recommend reserve for tee times.
You hace to spend a sunset in this place or near by, the view is just amazing. There isnt TOO many people around so its nice for a short quiet stay.
Great course, make player rake the sand.
Professional and open during covid
Better than Harding! Besides the hills. The course maintenance and staff were outstanding!
This place exceeded my expectations everything was exceptional...food was amazing as well...to my surprise the Starter was the only Grumpy person on staff...he should seek a different position where he doesnt have to interact with patrons...grounds keeper perhaps....Excellent place to play and visit overall...
Fantastic views and deep caverns that eat goofballs.
Just passed by this place in a rainy day while walking around presidio park SF. The rating reflects our first impression of the outside green area.
Great place to walk!!
Since prop 13 golf courses are dangerous to the fabric of Californian society. Skip this place.
Nice setting for golf but the restaurant was soso.
Cant beat the price to play this course.
This was an awesome awesome experience. The course itself is in outstanding condition and present some very unique challenges to a player some really fun t-shirts some tough part 3 and definitely a unique petting experience would play it again in a heartbeat had a wonderful time but watch out for the afternoon when its like a whole different environment.
A nice track and I love the convenience of not leaving the city to golf.
Great outing
Had a great time, course was very wet, but green.Fairways are all pretty straight so its an easy course but beautiful.
Maintained well. In the city
Nice track. Can eat you alive if you are not keeping the ball in play.
Wonderful piece of nature in the city, where you can relax even if you dont play. Golf course is great, almost for any level (esp. if you matter your handicap too much). 2 country clubs (maybe 1 private and the other open to public for sure). Getting there is worth walking through the rest of Presidio.
Nicer of the golf courses around tucked away in the Presidio, seemingly away from the city but in its treasures
A little expensive, but best golf course in the city
Good! It was good. They are all good!
Very nice place and friendly people. Food was so good too.
Challenging course, great value. Generally kept in good shape. No ocean or bridge views but a few holes have picturesque southern-facing views of the city (out towards UCSF Parnassus and Sutro Tower), and the sunsets are always spectacular. While playing the course its very easy to forget youre in a bustling city! The players club is a great deal - $49 monthly gets you $20 rounds, with a beer included, starting 1 hour before twilight.
Im not crazy about Presidio. The course conditions are pretty good, especially for a public course. However, theres a reason this pro shop sells more merchandise than any other shop in the United States (its true!) - its freezing out there! The carts included in the greens fee are nice except when you realize how restricted they are in where you drive or if you have them die on you during the round. The latter feels like a regular occurrence. Nice course, but not my first choice by a wide margin.
While the course, clubhouse and pro shop are top notch, theyve ruin their already lackluster driving range. Theyve put in place an automatic ball feeding system, so you cannot use an actual tee it an adjustable one. Additionally, it ruins any rhythm and slows do everyone as you dont know how many balls you have left, so folks have no idea where to wait for an open stall...disaster!!!
Great course but challenging at times. Recommend not walking
Love this place. Food is classic golf course grub but done really well.
Great place to be a wedding photographer. The staff were helpful and the sunset was beautiful. The tent for the rain was pristine, warm, and happy. The food was terrific but Im not sure if the caterer was in house. Lots of great options for spaces to customize for your event.
Great staff and amazing course! The young lady at the desk was especially welcoming and courteous. Keep her around!
Lovely course in grt nick ! Tough course espically back 9 when wind kicks in n fog ! Friendly staff eat n drink
Nice place to walk around at presidio golf course..
Had a fun day on the course supporting the PCBS invitational tournament.
Golf course was in great shape.
Convenient, close to our home, small but fast service.
Very cold but very nice
Such a great golf course! I just dabble with golfing and find this course just the place to play! Nice people.
Really fun course. Very hilly with challenging green complexes.
A uniquely designed course, adhering to the rolling hills in a perfectly challenging way, in stark contrast to any of my local courses back in Australia. A golf experience to cherish and remember.
Always liked it. Four stars because it is too pricey for the cold, the wind, the overcast! The range is silly, hitting into a prevailing wind, down into a valley. Range balls are $10 for 70, exact cash or range receipt from pro shop. Beautiful, well maintained, exhsusting... Give it a try. Excellent and fun mrn and womans clubs with pleasant perks.
This is my local spot but its a great course. Large cypress trees, with great conditions. Everything about this course is well kept. Sign up for the email distro and keep up-to-date on all their events. They have a medium sized putting green and a smaller sized chipping area. No bunkers to practice on. The driving range has limited space and therefore restricted distance golf balls. The range is on the edge of a hill and you cant see your ball land anywhere from 50-100 yards. Thats the only downfall.
Great driving range, although no grass tees. Very small short game practice area. Greens fees are too high compared to Harding, which is a superior course.
Very nice staff happy place very comfortable
The best inner city golf course in America
Great course and amazing staff. I have been golfing here for the past two years and have had only good experiences. They do have some weird rules about where you can drive the carts but other then that they have been doing massive improvements here. they redid my favorite par three #4 and they have redone most of the sand traps. They have also cleared a bunch of the trees to give the course more sun. A beautiful course with amazing deals like players club and resident and nor cal rates.
An old, historic, traditional tree lined golf course. Number two and four are stunners, but many holes can be categorized as such, too. Really tight golf course where you have to think about which club to use off the tee. The fairways are lined by huge, tall trees that are synonymous to San Francisco. Fees are expensive (after all, it is San Francisco), but the course is so beautiful and with the San Francisco views you dont think for one second that youve overpaid. A real treat whenever you may be in the San Francisco area.
