I’ve lived in SF for ten years and never found the time to visit this historic gem. Today, I did and oh my gosh I waited WAY too long to visit. If you’re on the fence DO IT. Lovely, friendly staff who offered warm, delicious fortune cookies straight out of the oven upon entry. We left with chocolate and original cookies, and chocolate dipped fortune cookies that were amazing. Support this business!

If you’re thinking about coming here, DO IT! My boyfriend and I came and it’s a little store with the fortune cookies being made right there in front of us. The owners were SO nice and gave us samples of FRESH fortune cookies. They sell lots of variations of the cookies and I am so so so glad we picked up some of the chocolate covered ones because they are SOO good. We also got some of the small circle cookies and they put them in a cute logo bag as well as throwing in some more freshly made cookies in your bag complimentary for snacking later. They take card and cash and I highly recommend stopping by! Every time I come to SFO I’ll always make a stop here

I love China Town in SF! It is a great experience. As you walk the streets you can feel immersed in this beautiful culture. People walking and enjoying their favorite treats at their favorite market. You can see people all ages. The diversity is beautiful. As we walked to the museum, we enjoyed of the colorful vegetables and fruits outside the stores.Once we got to the street where the fortune cookie museum was we realized how lovely the tiny museum is. It was lovely to see the way they are made and learn about the history. I highly recommend you don’t only buy one bag of coins but a bunch as they are delicious. My son was able to learn a little more about their culture. the owner was super kind. And you can experience the way they do it and even create your own. They had fresh warm cookies for you.If you have kids they will be fascinated.

Historical place with the best fortune cookies that are still hand wrapped. These cookies are light and crisp with a strong vanilla eggy taste from a secret family recipe. Not the leaden ones we often get that are mass factory produced at many restaurants. Go buy a big bag. Or six. Because they are so addictive and easily scarfed down!

This was a totally unique place to visit. It is located in an alley which adds to the experience. There was a line to enter the store and the line moved fast. Know how much you want to spend on fortune cookies before getting to the cash. It was a very quick visit but the owner was charming and seeing them make the cookies while we were there was fascinating. It is an assembly line and you feel like you are in one as well as you shuffle through. As you leave with freshly made warm cookies its hard not to smile and embrace the vibrancy of San Francisco.

A bit smaller than I expected, but I enjoyed my time here.Golden Gate Fortune Cookies is a small fortune cookie factory located in the heart of Chinatown. Its entrance is hidden in an alley, but its a great find. The small size can get packed rather quickly with tourists, but the staff takes their time answering every question & the lines move fast. Most people come to buy a few cookies and leave. Some want to make their own cookies. And there are novelty chocolate-dipped & sprinkled cookies for those with a sweet tooth. Theres something for everyone here -- assuming that youre not on a low-carb diet.4/5. Great experience. Must try if its your first time in SF Chinatown. Dont find myself coming back too often since I need to avoid the sweets.

Fun little tourist trap not far off the beaten trail.Bags of fortune cookies go for about $8 for a bag of 35 pieces. With your choice being between standard fortunes & adult themed fortunes. You can also opt for an assortment of flavours to be mixed into the bag such as original, Matcha or Strawberry. Cool.During peak hours where tourists buses arrive to drop passengers off, the queues get insane.Staff are extremely good, and will provide free samples right off the hot press without question.

Amazing spot to witness hard work, and truly kind people. Yes this has become a tourist destination and it does get packed. So I read reviews and decided to get there early. They allowed me to film and take pics. They gave me samples and I also supported them by buying some cookies that were delicious and reasonably priced.I assumed i would tip them. They didn’t ask me for anything but I provided it. Who wants to be taken photos of without compensation? Not me.Anyhow, google this spot and follow directions there. Enjoy.

This is such a fun hole in the wall! You come in and theres just a small amount of room to stand with the other tourists as you get confronted with a nice lady handing you free cookie samples. Its great to even watch the ladies making fortune cookies by hand. Just the cookies though no fortunes haha. Thankfully they take plastic as I was out of cash. Im not sure how much it was but they charge you a small amount for the bag, but its much better than the 10cent bags elsewhere as you can see in my pictures so well worth it for me! Ps it is down the alley with a yellow sign, so look around for it.

It was fascinating to watch the process of manufacturer of fortune cookies using machines from the last century. The process of making, cooking and folding the cookies with their message is very quickly achieved. I grabbed a bag of cookies. They have messages that range from XXX through funny through prophetic - you choose the type when you buy. The cookies themselves tasted well, like fortune cookies. Theyre remarkably like a waffle cone in texture and flavour. The store entrance is very narrow and cluttered. You would not get a wheel chair in there. #LetsGuide

Great place to visit if youre already in Chinatown, but dont make this the point of your trip. Its really just a few minute visit. However, every time we visit the area we pick up a couple bags of the large flat cookies (currently $4.25 each). We have been visiting here for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience.
