Great playground, lots to do for kids, a variety of swings, slides etc. Can keep almost any kid engaged. Just have to watch out for older kids who might run into smaller kids. Some of the play areas are size specific
It was my first time bringing my son in a playroom. I was so surprised and amazed by the facilities that they had. It was really good for your child. They were indeed educational and safe to play with your child. I love the place because it was so neat and spaciously clean. The staves were so attentive upon watching over the kids. My son did enjoy this place so much.
Great playground with lots of equipment and other activities. Our son had a blast at this place. Seemed well kept.
Used to come here as a kid and am able to bring my kids here.
Kids love it. Especially the cement slides and the whale.
Beautiful and expansive playground in Golden Gate Park, near the Sharon Art Studio and Robin Williams Meadow (formerly Sharon Meadow). Ramp access, lots of different play options to suit a wide variety of ages - toddler and big kid swings, flat play area with statues and sand pit, spider web over sand, big kid play structure, little kid play structure, toddler play area and sand pit; concrete slides AND a carousel (which is pretty cheap $1-$2/ rider; mini concession stand also open on weekends near the carousel). Just up the hill by the Sharon Art Studio and parking lot are restrooms which are pretty well kept. There are two parking lots off MLK which are pretty accessible on weekdays. Tends to be much busier on weekends so you might have to park along JFK and walk over.
Very good place to spend time with kids!
The first public children’s playground in US was established in 1887!This playground is my kids’ favorite playground in SF. If we dropped by an hour kuds to play if we’re in SF a couple times a year. We do not live in SF.It’s about 10-15 minutes walk from Cal Academy, so I’d recommend to stop here if you’re visiting museums near by with toddlers or grade school kids. The concrete slides are awesome but you’d remember to bring some empty cardboard boxes to sit on.The wave climbing walls are great too.Lots of climbing structures as well as a big sand area for digging & sand mold playbig.Best to visit weekday morning/noon when weather’s warm and sunny like days in October (this week, it was almost 72 degrees in SF which is very rare).I’ve been here in March & July shivering uncontrollably due to cold foggy wind-chill weather in lower 50 temp. As always, check the weather condition in specific parts of SF as it’s not like any other Bay Area that’s more predictable.Another note, please do not leave anything valuable or traveling luggages in the back of rental car or SUV (actually anywhere in SF), you will be the victim of smash-window-and-grab by the professional car burglars as I’ve seen it happening in front of me.With tinted glass SUV double parks for 5 seconds to smash, grab, and drive off. The moment you realized what happened, the car has left the site. It’s been happening a multiple times Each day in SF and goggle it to find out more. I read 8000 car break-ins per a year (only reported!).It’s best not to leave anything and do not walk away from your car with luggage, backpack, bag or purse visible from outside.
This place is so cool. On the weekends it is so lively! Kids are playing everywhere and having so much fun. It is a great place for adventure and pretend. Kids were making friends with other kids and the amenities lend themselves to spark creativity. My three year old loved it and didnt want to leave. The concrete slide (thats right, concrete) was really neat. Kids used good old fashion cardboard to slide down. How cool is that!
Fantastic playground with lots to do and concrete slides (classic SF thing to do).
It’s was a lot of fun initially for Mike but I wished there was a graduated playground for older children.
This is a great playground with lots of playgrounds, depending on the age and ability of your child. The cement slide is fun as well as the wave wall!
Best playground in East Bay for all ages. It has all kinds of regular play equipment, rode climbing, a slide for cardboard sliding, lots of sand boxes, a carousel and close enough to Golden Gate Park trails to ride bikes and scooters.
Such a great playground. Slides for all ages, big play structures, lots of sand... Happy kids.
Great huge play space with separate playgrounds for bigger and smaller kids, sand play area and swings. Right next to the carousel too. Definitely a great spot for the kiddos.
Playground open after repairs from vandalism were complete. 4.1.18 Nice hidden gem in San Francisco for children. Occasionally the random homeless person from the Haight will wonder in, but there are several police close by who will get them to leave. Great play area for kids with several structures for kids to run around on. Soccer practice for youth on weekday and games on the weekends.
Amazing playground, so much to do for all aged kids. Right on the edge of golden gate park so you dont need to venture too far into the park. Reasonable parking options too.
Nice, big, good visibility: kid can run all around and you can observe from one spot!
I simply cherished this area. Brings again the best reminiscences of playing within the sandbox, pretending to surf within the wave facade, and one of the greatest recollections ever. Its too terrible I can by no means move lower back.
Lovely green lawn to just laze around while the kids are playing. There is a carousel too that makes the kids happier
Great place for kids, all new equipment except those great concrete slides that have been there forever.
This playground is still as amazing as I remember it from visiting as a kid. My toddler loved it. The huge concrete slide is one of a kind. The carousel is also fun.
What a fantastic play park for my kids. Highly recommended.
Love this Playground. I hope SFPR keeps up the good work.
My son loves go to this park, very big and lots things to do.
Such a fun playground for kids of all ages. We try to make the trek out here every now and then because there’s so much to do - play structures, swings, big grassy areas, and the carousel right next door.
My kids love this playground. Cement slides are a must for them
I wish I had playgrounds like this when I was a kid
Not for curious active toddlers. Its overcrowded during summer. There are to many older kids there, who would not care if there is a little one around. But in general the playground is great and very spacious, and offers lots of activities to (pre) school age kids.
Amazing and fun for young and old at heart! Beautiful setting and well maintained. Enough equipment and space for tons of kids. Close proximity to other amazing SF tourist hotspots. A must-see for families with kids!
Be careful about the carousel hours. They aren’t reliable and don’t keep the website or phone line updated. I guess they sometimes just don’t show up to open it if there’s rain in the forecast, which we found out the hard way on my son’s second birthday. Such a bummer. The playground is wonderful and the carousel is too when it’s not crushing birthday dreams.
Such a beautiful place to spend quality time by yourself or with the fam!!
Very nice playground in the park surrounded by green areas to play and rest. Problem is that it can get really crowded.
Everyone can play here. They have a carousel too but Im not sure when theyre actually open. Pretty nice park
Structure upgrade is complete, so there is even more to keep kids of all ages occupied and having fun. The carousel nearby is just one more thing to love about the childrens quarter.
Large play area. Plenty of swings and sand. A unique dual concrete slide not found elsewhere that you should bring cardboard to slide down on.
The playground was so much fun for the kids, a bunch of playsets to climb around on, and the slide was something Ive never seen anything like before. It was by far one of the best playgrounds weve visited.
Cool playground for the kiddos to burn off some energy
Lots of great equipment for the kids to play on. The big concrete slide is lots of fun. Only thing missing is some shade. There isnt a nice place to sit in the shade and watch the kids.
My childhood favorite playground in all of San Francisco! I had the opportunity to bring my daughter here and she had an absolute blast!! I would definitely recommend to all families with children of all ages.
Very cool place to bring the kids, dont forget the cardboard box to slide down the sand hill
Popular and large playground with unusual diversity of selection. Swings, sand pit, very tall rope climbing structure, the usual playscapes and a pair of large concrete slides. For the concrete slides, bring some cardboard to sit on...
Love it as a child love it ever more as a parent.
My kids loved it ferry go round and park right next to some awesome slides
Not half as good as it was back in the 70s, there was a barn with farm animals(until some deviant ruined it for everyone), a pond, more to explore and play on, enough structures to keep us busy for hours, used to go all the time, the 1st time they changed it wasnt so bad but now theres nothing left, plastic structures that teenagers burned ruining it for everyone. Havent been there recently, hope its better next time we go.Been going there since I was a child.
Good park for kids, we come here every weekend.
Lots of options, shade and sun, all ages. As a plus, the carrousel is close by and cheap and the hotdog stand always helps when you need an extra snack ;)
Just did kids. Really nice.
Great for kids. Lots of various equipment for kids of all ages, and benches for adults to sit and watch. Kids will amuse themselves for hours, and there are water fountains and food vendors nearby. Or bring picnic snacks. Please dispose of trash properly. Many of the surfaces are soft springy material. Adults do need to ensure younger kids dont overestimate their ability. Its best if a few friends go together. Be sure kids dress for the weather and in sturdy play clothes.
Super cool and lots to do, but easy to lose your kids in the chaos. It was stressful for that reason, but otherwise great.
Fabulous kids playground. Big slide, huge jungle gym, sand pit, coffee and ice cream station, merry go round. All in the middle of hundreds of acres of green grass and bike paths. Restroom nearby too.
My son loved the concrete slides - spent an hour on them and could have stayed all day
Wonderful place for families/friends w/young kids..spacious and lots of play structures. I go for free Sunday 10 a.m. zumba class..love it!
Best stop in GG park if you have a child. The cement slides are a throw back to a time when playgrounds had a dangerous side... Love it
My kids love this park. Plenty of open space along w little and big kid play structures. Also, the carousel.
Wonderful playground. Visiting from out of town and totally wish I lived nearby to enjoy it.
Irrespective of the weather conditions, kids love this park. One of the best hangout places in town with all age kids!
Fun spot, but there is a lot more to see in golden gate park
Two extensive play structures with lots of tactical features (one for tots) as well as a large tensile climbing structure. The cement slides are not too long for smaller kids while still being fun. The carousel is inexpensive though the line for tickets was long and slow.
Had a great time with my grandson
My favorite childhood memories.
Best playground in sf I guess
If youre reading this GO. Playground is the best bring cardboard fir the epic slide and some money for the carousel. Best place to be on Sunny SF day.
Its a great playground but it is in the Park and therefore too many adult kids around. The Mary-Go-Round obviously makes a world of difference. The hotdog stand is what one would expect. The big concrete slides are a top attraction. Overall variety of the playgrounds is fantastic. If you live in the City or are visiting with kids, its a must explore option.
Nice park. But little unclean
Nice weather and several activities for kids
A bustling place to hangout, usually folks around are always doing something fun to watch. Drum circles, snacks, or anything you can imagine.
Its a nice clean playground thats been around for ages. The merry go round is nice, too. My kids have come to this playground since they started to walk. Only downfall would be parking. But of course that is always to be expected ANYWHERE IN SF.
This places has about 1000 kids running around, well maybe not 1000, but theres a lot of kids running around. If you bring your kids here, be proactive because theirs 3 different areas to play in and theres a lot of people here, its easy to suddenly have a missing kid. Theres also not much shade here so bring sunscreen and lots of water. This is a great place to let kids burn off excess energy because theres plenty of kids for them to make friends with.
Number one carousel ride with a white
Impressed with the scenic beauty and open space and kids playing with freedom
Our favorite SF playground. Lots of options for all kid ages, including a huge concrete slide.
Awesome playground with things for all ages!
Great playspace. 3 and 6 year old both loved it
I would like this place has more structures for toddlers.
I love this park. My husband and I make a weekly trip with our 2 kids from san jose just so they can play at this playground.
Huge outdoor playground perfect for kids of all ages. Sand pits, equipment, and a big slide all in one place.
Was Abit cold and not many children. But it was fun
Wonderful area for children of all ages. They have different jungle gyms including one for toddlers. The bathrooms are alittle bit of a walk away but otherwise nice area of the park.
My kids absolutely love the gigantic Carousel next door to this Pottery Studio. The Pottery Studio is an incredible historical building.Golden Gate Park playground is Iconic, my kids absolutely love it here
Nice fun place for family and young kids. Bring a sweater or light jacket as it can get breezy
Love it, but the kind of playground where you can lose a kid if you are watching more than one.
This is an excellent playground for all ages. Theres are different areas for different skill levels (ages) and theres a sand pit for those that dont like to climb. My only issue is that the bathroom is a little far--especially if you are working on potty-training.
