The Lands End Hike has spectacular views of the rugged Pacific Coastline, the Golden Gate Bridge, windswept cypress trees, beaches, and wildflowers. It passes by the historic points of Sutro Baths, the USS San Francisco Memorial, and you might even see migrating whales. A short spur off the main Lands End Trail takes you to scenic Mile Rock Beach and the Lands End Labyrinth. The Lands End hike is my favorite; I hope you take it and enjoy it too.its a moderate hike..... and I see theMost beautiful view ever in San Francisco ...
Great place-park to visit with about 50 or so Parking spots. Views are spectacular and theres good waking paths and trails, and if you go far enough on the walking path youll get to views of the Golden Gate bridge. At Lands End park area, if you can make it down the 50-or so stairs and some breakwater rocks you can spend time on the large beach with smaller kid-friendly waves.
A place steeped in history and breathtaking scenery and with lead actor The Golden Gatemakes it even more unsurpassed
Spectacular views of bay, rocks, lighthouse & Golden and Golden Gate Bridge. Nice, scenic hike, curvy & one set of steps descending approx. 250 feet.
Historically an honorable place to reflect on peacetime & Very powerful connection to WW II and all the bay area women and men building, inventing & creating from Sausalito to Pittsburgh, Ca.
This place is great! There is a ton of things to do here. We were here for 5 hours and didnt even really scratch the surface of the park. A cheap way to stay entertained for the whole day. Next time were gonna bring lunch for a picnic. My husband says to wear your sneakers!
This is one of the best place to enjoy a sunset ( clouds allowing ). Its pretty remote compared to other well known places like the sutro baths. The place has lots of what seems to be government buildings so plenty of parking.Lots and lots of birds .. including the smell.
Ill just get it to five stars lets just say that
I have very fond memories from coming here as a kid. I remember loving this place! It is definitely a lot of fun to see it all over again through your kids eyes. The first time we brought our son, he was only about 14 months old, which was a little young. I really dont think he enjoyed it anywhere near as much as he did today (he just turned 2).
Excellent spot to view the Pacific Ocean, the Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge! Highly recommend stopping by this spot for beautiful scenery when the suns out. We’ve also seen whales out in water from this location, so if you are a fan of whale watching this may just be a place you can catch a view of them from the mainland! Cheers
Clean, free and a great way to see the beach.
Great place to walk and relax. There are 3 restaurants along the way. Wrap up warm on chilly days.
About a 20 minute/0.8 mile walk from where we parked. Then another 20 minutes back. Lots of up and down stairs along the way. Great views of the water as the trail traces the coast.
Well worth a little hike down.. really cool place! Sad to say there was quite a bit of trash though.. wish people had a little more respect to clean up after themselves!
History and visual of parts of the USS San Francisco CA-33 ship. Great piece of history to admire while hiking and exploring the SF Coast
Its such a huge park with so much to see and do! Lots of places to just sit and relax. When the weather is good, take a blanket and have a picnic! Enjoy the nature and if you venture out far enough, you can see the gorgeous flowers.
Absolutely beautiful views and walking paths. Definitely come visit on a sunny day.
This place has a really beautiful view
It is the most amazing view point Ive ever been too. You get to see sunset on your left with a beautiful view of Golden Gate Bridge on your right.
Great place, a lot to see.
Fantastic place for outing .its very pretty to see sunset in pacific ocen...Better place for hiking also.
Beautiful views. Awesome trails. Be sure to use the restroom BEFORE you set out on yiur hike. Public restrooms were not available especially with the social distancing requirement
A beautiful place to spend the day
A beautiful place, part of the Golden Gate shoreline beautification project. Always wonderful for an easy meditative walk.
What can I say about San Francisco....lovely all The way
Recently visited, parking is still open which is nice and the views are great. But unfortunately there are no open restrooms on site or even at the Lands end Visitor center. You can drive to the local Safeway but expect a long line to get in and an even longer line to use their one restroom.
Wonderful steps good for a workout and put you on the edge of the presidio where you can hike and walk and be among the large eucalyptus and pines. Another astounding view both east and west from the Golden gate to the west Alcatraz in front of you and turn around and you can look westward across the city
World class art & antiquities at the Legion of Honor, beautiful hiking trails & views of the Golden Gate, challenging golf course... Maybe the last relaxing place in SF & wheelchair accessible.
The place is amazing. You can find a space to park your car. The landscape is awesome. You could feel some kind of pace in that place. In December sunny and windy or cloudy in both cases take with you a warm coat . The paths around the area just wow. We loved the place. You can walk, ride your bike or just standing near the shore.
Wonderful place to visit i love the view its nice clean beach as well
Beautiful place! Not as crowded as it usually is, but nice that its still open for people to enjoy.
Came for a Bible based tour of the more historical artifacts, but i also enjoyed the paintings on display, as well as the grounds
What can I tell you very nice beautiful. I had a great time. a view of the golden gate and this beautiful sea. And amazing flowers
Great view, nice hiking, lots of fresh air
Nice beach spot with an excellent hike to some great views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Great coastal views. A most visit for the view alone...
Several safe trails to go on. Has a large parking lot. Great views! Be careful not to leave valuables in car, because of many break ins
Am amazing experience. Everyone should travel, wear rubber souled shoes and explore. Historical signs inform the reader of a glimpse of time 100+ years ago. Breath taking views, watching ships enter and leave San Francisco Bay. Visit soon. Visit often.
Be sure to dress warmly and have a beanie or hat with you. Its pretty windy and cold here. The views are spectacular and worth a look though.
Great place for views
Didnt know about the history, but the spot is gorgeous, all the same
Great escape in the crowded city. You can enjoy the beach after wandering on the trail above.
Great an and peaceful walking place. A fantastic view of the Golden Gate from a different angle.
Today (on Memorial Day Sunday) my wifey’s father was honored here, he was a Marine on the USS San Francisco Ca 38 in the battle of Guadalcanal (he was a Gunner that day shooting 20 mm rounds at attacking Fighter planes) I total over 37,000 men’s lost their lives in this strategic battle also know as Iron bottom bay (because of pall the ships that sank there in battle) including an admiral. The memorial park is located at lands end just to the left of the parking lot where you can see a section of the ship that looks like Swiss cheese. As you walk just about 100 feet south of the memorial you can see The Golden gate perfectly and if you dare, you can envision the dilapidated USS San Francisco sailing back under it, on its way back home. Every year on memorial weekend (Sunday) they hold a service remembering all the men that died in the battle on the USS San Francisco. 100 Salors and 7 Marines that were also on the ship. At 11am.
Its a great space to hike and explore the ruins of the old sutro baths. A little beach, a cave, rocks to walk on, and hilly terrain, makes for a fun time for adults and kids alike.
Great view. At night it felt a bit sketchy when we saw people smoking pot at the other end of the cave. Otherwise, Id recommend this place.
Have visited on Memorial Day with my sons, and when we hike along Lands End, for years. Cannot read FDRs speech on the bronze plaque on the south side of the monument without tearing up ... and I have read it a hundred times.
Great place to see and walk around! specially the trails all the way down the beach
It was a beautiful place to go to and relax I recommend to everybody
Love this place, best park in the city unless youre looking for hipsters!
I always like the sunset here, I would recommend to bring a book and a hot drink to enjoy the chilly evening
Great hike and scenery. The eroding history may not be here much longer so check it out while you have the chance.Great family fun, make sure you pick a day that’s not rainy. We got lucky.
Its beautiful over here but you have to go down to the beach to get down to the rocks easily.Worth it!
Great Historic Spot. Trail near by has some amazing views. Totally worth it.
Gorgeous space right near the city.
Perfect for walk and ocean view, few different trials, far view of golden gate. Family friendly.
The view of the bay is fantastic. The Lincoln pro golf course is well maintained and beautiful... even in the fog.The road going out the eastern side was closed when we went so we had to do a u-turn, but it made up for it by having a Batman symbol on the construction sign.
Great place to come walk around. Need to have enough time to go for a good walk around. Great views and constant ocean breeze. Look for the heart shaped in the rock off the coast. Wasnt expecting that. Just happened to noticed it while looking around. You would have to go all the way down and then up the slope before being in the right place. Shoes with good traction recommended as the path ways were a little slippery or unstable because of the loose pebbles. A little challenging for those with mobility issues.
Outstanding!!Old history that give us the light of a culture in change!.
Absolutely a must visit memorial site for those who appreciate WW2 history, or for anyone who is grateful to those who serve their country and fellow man, by putting their own lives at peril -- in the hope that a better tomorrow might be achieved!Take the time to read the placards here. Look out to the Pacific Ocean. Be grateful that you are alive today - and able to ponder the history of the USS San Francisco! A beautiful and poignant spot for you to be.
Its was nice to see the memorial thats there to honor the brave sailors who died, and served aboard the USS San Francisco.
Exquisite detail.... Beauty... Breath taking.
Great historical place to visit but rough to get access to.
Great place to walk with a gorgeous view the whole way. It is pretty windy here so make sure to bring a jacket. If you dont have one then warm up by running up and down the stairs!
I love this whole area and the Lands end hike. Easy hike, beautiful views. Also note the lands end lookout has a lot of stairs.
Beautiful setting and a touching monument to the men who fought and died aboard the USS San Francisco.
Beautiful view fresh ocean mist and good history.
Beautiful nature escape right in the city. Really enjoyed hiking that area. Its a easy hike doable with normal shoes. Some of the best views of the ocean and the bridge.
I went fishing. Just one jack smelt and some small crab.
Very beautiful day and area is clean.
A special place to visit, good hiking trails.
Nice area to visit for lunch time walk. Or just to take care of your daily bussiness.
Nice view to spend some time peacefully.
Passed by right on time to catch the beautiful sunset.
Beautiful old history of san fransico
It is good place to go for morning walk
It may not have much to offer but this Memorial has breathtaking sights!
Nice place to come relax read a book hang out with beautiful views
It was pretty but I definitely think that there are better trails around SF
I really enjoyed this one. The memorial comes with a story about the engagement and its impact. Its also at a beautiful location. It is definitely worth a visit and a few minutes of your time.
I like it here because I can pretend I’m a fancy European drinking milk in a fancy European palace overlooking the sea
History and scenic views what else Do you need?
Its nice family friendly great views.
What can you say. This is a war memorial over looking the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful views and a nice memorial with the story of a US warship in a fight for her life with the Japanese. Worth the visit and good time for reflection on those that have put their lives on the line for the United States of America.
Very nice views of the Pacific, and occasionally you can see the Farralones on clear day. Tons of tourists so parking can be a challenge of you try to park directly in the main lot or on greathighway. Well worth the hike to the see the remnants of Sutro Baths, and lunch/dinner at the Cliffhouse.
Great ambience. Very historic place
Gorgeous views and lots of variety in scenery if youre willing to walk around a little bit. A willingness to hike the entire area will yield some potentially incredible photogenic opportunities. Be aware it can be windy and a very busy touristy area, so be prepared for weekend crowds and parking congestion.
Beautiful day with great company!
Great location if you are trying to escape the rush and the crowds of the city and looking for a bit of peace and quiet. Nothing but you and the wind and sea here. Enjoy.
Gorgeous views on a clear day!
Nice to visit on such a hot day (100°!)
You can enjoy fantastic view of coastline. Great place for nature walk/hike. Place is generally busy. Even though there is big parking lot, it can be hard to find parking. Just like other places in SF, dont leave any thing in your car. Dont be a victim of break ins. Any way great place to visit and enjoy the nature
It would be Ok, if there was no rubbish.
This place is the ruins of a burnt d I wn resort. It is surreal to be there.
Where did all the tourists come from? This park used to to be very quiet
Love this area to walk on a hike or look at the golden gate bridge. Overall never really too crowded and easier to find parking
Nice views and good place for hiking as well
We didnt do the whole walk but what we saw was just pure awe...
