Meal time for the parks 10 bison is 11:00 am. I like to watch the great beast surround the gate that leads to their food area and calmly wait for their keeper to let them in. The older bison stand at the edge of the mini heard, while the younge bison are in the center. Any frisky actions made by the younger bison are quickly put down. How lucky we are to have such great symbols of our country at the park.

Pretty fun to find Bison in San Francisco. It was closed when we arrived but the herd could be seen (for free) from the sidewalk.

The bisons are kind of far away but still fun and cool to see. There’s a small noise coming from a fence that I think is electric A little weird but the bisons are behind the fence of the electric fence so I don’t think they’re getting harmed in anyway.

There were a few Bison in the back of the field if you take the dirt path. However, it was very hard to push strollers or even walk through that area

Now watching these bison is a great way to break up your walk and a nice change to the birds and turtles around the lakes nearby. Also if you get hungry like me then go checkout Annies Hot Dogs & Snacks! Finding them on my break is like playing Wheres Waldo lol! But when I find them...my stomach is happy!

These huge bison are so awesome to get to see in person. There are benches so you can sit and watch, and just relax.

Bison at Golden Gate Park - - you can get up fairly close for good views.

Cool that there are bison right here in San Francisco. I guess you can see everything here! When we went they werent grazing though they were all huddled by there quarters. But there werent too many people at the park which made it nice.

The bison paddock is near the north west side of the Golden Gate Park. I expected a lot more bison but only saw a couple. Still theyre pretty cool to see especially for kids. They seem to have a large plot of land to roam around in which is nice.

Several animals, easy to see. Im not any kind of animal behaviorist, but compared to several zoos Ive visited, it felt like there were some missed opportunities for enrichment.

Watching buffalo go poop is a great way to relax.

Love the spot. Love the golden gate jungle ! Doo many trails and so many weight seeing spots . you can find the rental bikes, scooters so over or bring your own bike, or just your hiking gear

Fun to see bison in the middle of SF. Be ready, they are pretty far away and pretty lazy! So its not a ton to see.

Its an excellent paddock for urban bison—just ask Fuzzy and Beatrice.

I found this one accidentally while running in the morning. Looks exciting and spacious for the Bison. Impressive that the Government keeps this area to grow the animals. There are plenty street parking along the road nearby where you can stop by and see the Bisons

Restful and pleasant, there were a couple of youngsters in the herd today. A hummingbird zigzaged overhead before perching on the pointy top of a lamppost.

The bison were hard to find and when we did they were locked up.. we could still see them but not well. Wish there were more signs to show you how to find the area they are in.

The place is really cool for a long walks. It is very clean. You can enjoy looking the animals but still I think they need some more space because they are a lot. You can run early in the morning or walk your pet if you are leaving close to the park. They are not many people over there.

Super unique San Francisco attraction. Located in a beautiful part of Golden Gate Park with plenty of trees and grass to sit on. It is located directly on the street with a side walk and benches directly in front of the Paddock. Would definitely recommend.

Quiet landscape - breathe

Such a cool spot in the City. The kids love to see the buffalos and then across the street are there casting ponds and horse stables.

So cool to find this hidden gem in the park! Beautiful cherry blossoms next to it in the spring.

Worth checking out of youre nearby, but dont make a big trip for it. Turns out nature isnt always setup to be very entertaining. The bison are impressive animals but pretty quiet and recluse most days

There are bison, in a paddock. If you want to view bison in San Francisco, i can think of no bettet place to go.

When we pulled up, we didnt see any in the area and frankly werent sure we were in the right area. But then after walking around the paddock a little bit we noticed the Bison were all in the cages. Still cool to see, but I would have loved to know what time theyd be grazing prior to coming here.

It can be hit or miss whether the bison are near the fence or out in the field, but at the end of the day, there are bison in a park in San Francisco. How crazy is that?Its free to visit. Its entirely a self-guided attraction, but there are some signs and posted information explaining about the bison. Thats all it is: bison in a field living their life and you can stop by and see them.

Intimate conversation with this Bison lady! She was curious about my Redbone Coonhound/Basset as she grazed and listened to me give her comments about her beauty.

Are there only five Bison? Still, it is always good to see the them.

Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam. OK. Done. Along JFK drive you can admire these magnificent creatures in their expansive paddock.

You can drive your car right up to the paddock,theres ample street parking and the place is beautiful. Didnt see the bison free in the paddock as it was late when we got there... We did catch a glimpse of them in their enclosure ....Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area!

You can actually drive to where the bison are and there are 2 general locations in golden gate where you can find them. If you are lucky they will be out grazing. What magnificent large animals! So peaceful. Check it out !:-)

Pretty relaxing spot to chill. A couple of benches to watch the bison graze. Next to the road so it sometimes gets noisy but what can you do in the city. Normally pretty quiet.

The bison are always behind too many fences. You can barely see them. However its cool to say you went to SF and saw bison!

Try to take a bike or scooter as well and have the best opportunity to enjoy all parts of the park!

5 new baby bison added to the herd!

I was in the bay area in the early to mid 90s hanging out with friends when it was directed to drive to this area of which as of today determine to beGolden Gate Park .I was totally amazed at what I saw Buffalo or Bison everywhere, Great experience.

Yes, its great to see the Bison and, yes, it is quite a large space not many Bison. Its better than a zoo but not as good as a vast wilderness.

I love to see the bison girls when walking through Golden Gate Park....its just a handful of beautiful bisons hanging out but how cool is that!

They have Bison. In San Francisco. Nothing much to add. I wish they had more of them though cause sometimes you don’t end up seeing any or just are able to see one from far away.

I think they need a little more run i watch one run and it seem like it wasnt going hard because what it would take to stop before running into the fence. But maybe it was me?

It was amazing to see these animals roaming around and grazing, and in San Francisco of all places. The story behind them is interesting too (there is a sign with the history of the buffalo in the Golden Gate Park nearby). They do tend to keep their distance, which is probably for the best. Theyre still very impressive to look at from far off.There is a parking area right in front of the paddock, and plenty of seats for you to watch them.You might also catch a groundhog digging and popping out of the grass.They look healthy and well taken care of. I cant say whether or not theyre happy because its kinda hard to tell considering the fact that theyre buffalo, but I cant imagine they were unhappy.

Comically dissapointed with this. Maybe it was the time or year, but there wasnt much to see, a few sad looking bison in a smallish enclosure.

We saw the bisons from the distance... they were really far away so it was imposible to see them form the designated area. We will give it another try
