Is that sustainable energy you’re using to power all those lights Tom and Jerry? Take the money you spend on PG&E and feed some homeless in San Francisco.
High on Castro Hill stands a little gingerbread Victorian, dwarfed by a 65-foot-high tree covered in lights and surrounded by gift-wrapped boxes as big as Volkswagen Beetles. And the entire scene is scaled to look as if the tree were only five feet tall. The house vanishes behind the decorations. The garage serves as a sort of fireplace, above which hang two eight-foot-high stockings brimming with gigantic teddy bears. A smiling stuffed polar bear rides an oversized model train around the tree skirt, while a matchstick carnival spins and whirs nearby.Welcome to the Tom and Jerry Christmas TreeTom Taylor and Jerome Goldstein once again share with you the Tom and Jerry Christmas Tree on 21st St. in San Francisco. Santa Claus brings his magical presence to the Christmas Tree beginning December 12 after his reindeer pull up to 21st St. and all the elves help him to unload Candy Canes and Best Wishes for all. Santa Claus will be available to all for candy canes and photography until 24 December from 6:30 - 10:00 PM. He will depart from the Christmas Tree at 10:35 PM to prepare for the Christmas Day Deliveries. If you look real hard toward the North of 21st Street over Dolores Park at 10:05 PM on Christmas Eve you will see his Reindeer riding on Magical Jet Carpets to get their rest before delivering all the Christmas Presents by morning time.Getting a Candy Cane from Santa is very special because making a wish and putting the candy cane under your pillow on Christmas Eve may make that wish for Christmas Day come true!!The Christmas Tree is a LIVE Norfolk Island Pine purchased by Tom and Jerry in 1973 as a house plant. As you can see the tree has flourished and in its 65 foot glory has been the home of the Tom and Jerry Christmas Tree and Celebration for many years. The display is meant to embody the Holiday Spirit for all who choose to view it and is not of any religious or sectarian view.As you can see the ornaments and stuffed animals are of a magnitude to reflect the size and grandeur of the tree. The most memorable quote of the Christmas Tree is, “Next to Rockefeller Center in New York City, there is the Tom and Jerry Christmas Tree in San Francisco.”Tom and Jerry do not accept donations from individuals as the tree is a gift from them to all who come to visit as a recognition of the spirit of the holidays, inclusive of rich and poor, young and old, children of all ages, and the beauty and spirit and diversity that San Francisco offers. Many visitors who live in Tom and Jerry’s neighborhood work in Silicon Valley and for large corporations. Tom and Jerry are in their late 60s will consider corporate sponsorship as the project has grown in popularity and magnitude over the years. The family of stuffed animals is in continual need of nurturing and loving care and those who might have an extra family member in need of adoption are always welcome as it is very cold when they return to the North Pole to await next years celebration. As you can imagine it takes a lot of space to store Tom and Jerry’s Christmas Display and it goes without further comment that there is a warm, fuzzy, and cozy spot at the North Pole for the display where the elves work year round to keep things perfect for the next Christmas. For years, The Tom and Jerry Christmas tree has caught the attention of all those lucky enough to pass it. One San Francisco film maker, Richard Gutierrez, has a particular interest by capturing all the magic of the Christmas tree and those who enjoyed it, during last years holiday season, by creating a documentary film entitled: Making Christmas: The View from the Tom and Jerry Christmas Tree.
Many people decorate their houses during the holidays, but few people do it all like Tom and Jerry.
This place has become a holiday attraction for both locals and tourist visiting the city during the holidays. Many people decorate their houses during the holidays, but few people do it all like Tom and Jerry. I dont know of any other residents in the city that puts this much effort, especially knowing that this has been going on for two plus decades. Very much worth a drive by during the holidays or even a stop to bring friends and family to check out.
My pleasure to be invited to their very warming Christmas party. They were more than welcoming, the house was decorated beautifully with an endless supply of decorations and different knick knacks to see. Tom and Jerry were doing amazing talking, with everyone have a great time, just wish I could have more photos from the inside.
Excellent Christmas attraction located on top of a San Franciscan hill. Beautiful themed lighting with a personal touch by the owners.Pro-tip -- There was a Santa Claus as well till 7pm to take pics with.
The guy sitting outside as santa was so sweet. He had a wide bench, so the kids didnt have to sit on his lap, he asked the kids great questions, have you been eating all your vegetables?, Do you brush your teeth... Without having to be asked? He encouraged the whole filynto get in the picture. Very family oriented. People were milling around. Great evening stop
My toddler was in complete awe. Nice to be able to show him something I loved as a kid!
