It is nice that there are wild spaces for birds, and aquatic life within populated areas. Though some parts are closer to the road and it can be noisy with traffic. Was wondering if higher vegetation around the perimeter would make it more sheltered for the wildlife and create a sound barrier.

Its a nice effort to protect nature in a busy residential area, but just kinda misses. Too much traffic is near, too many views of the apartments and houses near. Trash, vagrants... Sorry to digress, but san Diego needs to figure out what to do with its homeless. Can we give these people money to clean the streets? They live on the streets but many of them are also the biggest polluters... Of their home.

Nice kept but small if your looking for anything longer than 15 or 20 min walk.

I like this place. Its weird to me to think that this was basically what Mission Bay & Mission Beach used to be before they dredged it all up, built the islands, and put rocks everywhere to create a shoreline. Some neat birds here.

Fun place to have an adventure in nature. Walking trails and benches. It has 2 separate sides of the preserve which is kind of cool. We really only explored the south side because we got there a bit later and the sun was setting on us after walking awhile. The boys had lots of fun throwing rocks into the puddles and I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Bus stops right on the street on either side of the Slough makes it really convenient getting there. Also we met a little girl who lived in the area and became our adorable tour guide. If you cared to know its pronounced sloo

It was a great habitat for birds, however I wish they could have cleared the pathway so people. an walk without being scratch by old vines and twigs.

Wonderful restful place to amble about. If you go during school hours can sit and ignore nearby traffic and bustle. Occasionally- with due patience you can get wonderful shots of the various migrating cranes and other colorful birds.

Its not, like, Yosemite, but its good enough for what it is. Show up at dusk if youre a big fan of mosquitoes.Bonus: if you use the parking lot on Famosa/Valeta, you may run into the rare wild bike thief. The cops dont seem to mind for some reason.

Im glad that this is open space. And if you wish to enjoy some open space this is ok. Having said that, its pretty messy. The water looks polluted. There is trash that you dont have to look too hard for. There are birds here. Egrets and herons and others. I walked around the slough. It was a messy dirty walk. Not recommended.

Neat little preserve to explore. Great bird watching. Beware the meth people at night, and mosquitos; both are asleep during sunlight hours

A wetland Wildlife Preserve in the heart of San Diego the famosa slough is a bird watchers Paradise. People with large cameras and big telescopes stake out viewing areas alongside of nice smelling nature preserve. It is small in size, but offers a beautiful natural refuge in OB/Pt . Loma.
