I am 72 and have been a member of the Kroc Center for six years. I swim laps 3 to 4 times a week thatNot only is the staff wonderful and friendly and kind but I have met the most wonderful people who swim there on a regular basis. The facilities for the showers are wonderful I highly Recommend this facility. The Kroc Center is not about money and if you’re over 65 it is really NOT about money it’s about servicing the community ️
We attended a birthday party at the corner place. Really nice facility. Kids had a blast.
In it only for the money, it is ridiculous they have us wait for 45 minutes to do a class. The only way we don’t wait is to sign up for another class at that time, doubling what we give every 6 weeks. In other words, 198$, just for ice skating. And the staff are rude, I remember they had a bowl of candy out for display to get one, but they watched it like a hawk, and I tried to grab one, and they wouldn’t let me touch the bowl.In conclusion, if you were to go ice skating, try to go somewhere else that’s actually pleasant to be at.
My son started playing basketball here and met some cool friends.Coaches are eager to teach and push kids to their best abilities. Weve used the gym a couple of times when theres no scheduled games. We ran laps and played ball as well. Theres an ice skating rink and a swimming pool. Theres plenty of change rooms and its always clean. Its an easy commute however theres almost always no parking available. If you are solely coming here for childrens sports, there is a wait room with televisions by the bball court. Its a good size with couches and stool seating.
I love this place! I recently got involved with the youth sports here and my daughter loves it. We pay $130 for a 2 month basketball session. The kids practice twice a week and have games every Friday. Which comes out to be around 12 face to face sessions a month at $65 a month. I really like the structure because the children are learning the fundamentals of sports and getting the experience. WE LOVE COACH RYAN FOR THE 7-8 BASKETBALL.whereas when I put my child in the YMCA mission valley we paid $90/month and she went every Saturday which came out to be 4 face to face sessions a month and the practice was disorganized and it structured.
OPEN mon -fri 5:30AM till 9PM also OPEN sat-sun 8AM till 6PM.... Great place pools open all year ! Great for 62+ with insurance or children looking for sports
This Picture is not what I witnessed when I was Relocated from this Place several months ago. The streets around the Joan Krock center are putrid and sick and the people disparaged, Where is the light of beauty in my World. Do not trespass or Tread on my life.. hmm, The sign I mention, on a brick wall in San Diego at a homeless shelter. Do not Trespass...
Their skateboard class and instructor are inexperienced, unqualified, disappointing, ignorant. The first day the instructor didnt even show up for class, no call, no show. Most importantly, he did not have a plan set for the kids. My son has autism, which I wrote in his enrollment forms. Any kid, especially those on the autism spectrum, thrive on a plan and routine. The class was open play with some random teaching thrown in as the kids needed it. When I called to complain, not only did it take me 5 attempts to reach the instructor, he argued back with me, admitted he did not read the childrens enrollment forms, and stated he could tell my son was special just by looking at him. I was expecting better, since we enjoy their free family nights. VERY DISAPPOINTING. DO NOT waste your money here. Spend a little more and find a better quality class somewhere else.
I really like the KROC center. Theres so much to do that it keeps my whole family occupied in most of their interests. They make a point of contributing to their community too. If theres something deficient in the neighborhood or region, they try to offer it. The only failing for us at the moment is that now two of my children have gotten into springboard diving; which is a wonderful sport and amazing to watch at the Olympics. But there isnt much opportunity to do this at the KROC so weve had to go elsewhere. I was amazed to find that there arent any diving towers in all of San Diego county! The citys diving teams have to go to Tijuana or Mission Viejo to practice on the higher platforms needed for competition. Amazing. Except for this activity not offered the Kroc is wonderful.
Love the Kroc Center! ! Provides any and all levels of activities for any age, safe family-friendly center. They have everything from summer camps, swimming, ice skating, gym, skatepark, rock climbing, aerobics.......they have everything u can imagine. Get evolved with the Kroc Center you will not be disappointed.
I actually already posted for the KROC center ice rink, but it was meant for this specific review.I gave the KROC 4 out of 5, instead of 5 out of 5 because sometimes the competition pool is not accessible for swimming laps due to various activities, especially during the summer, and the KROC should do a little bit more of an efficient job in letting its members know ahead of time. Utilize mainstream ways of notification, such as mass emailing and mass SMS text messaging. In addition, send out mailers to advise members as well. Not everyone is always going to read posters throughout a crowded and busy KROC center, where the main focus is usually to listen to our Pandora lists while working out.All in all, aside from the nominal adjustment mentioned, the KROC is a great place for families, with a ton of activities for everyone. Playcare is great for the kiddos and included with a couple different types of membership, which you can pay month to month, if you choose. The pricing is very fair based on what is offered and included for everyone. The gym is great with a lot of weights and equipment to choose from. Theres basketball courts, fitness classes, an ice rink, and more. Enjoy!
I do love the Kroc and I take many of the pool exercise classes there, most of the teachers are wonderful. I have had my share of bad experiences there but overall I love the Kroc and I have a pool where I live but prefer there. The staff is friendly and most of the regulars are warm and welcoming to the newcomers. When I first started coming to the Kroc I could barely walk a block and now after taking their pool exercise classes I can walk a mile easily.....
I love this place! Affordable-great staff-comfortable and friendly there.
Great memories of this place when we lived in San Diego! They have a great facility with great childcare as well. It is a great place for moms who need a little time to work out without the kids.
I love Kroc Center, it has a small weight room but there arent a lot of folks going to the weight area, just pick your times and equipment. Most are friendly and you can work in and easily communicate if you need a piece of equipment. I love having a pool, cycle, weights, basketball, zumba and more on the menu of things to keep me healthy. After reading some reviews there are some individual bad experiences but being realistic is necessary. Great amenities for our neighborhood. You want a bigger weight room? Planet bizness is right down the street.
You have beautifuls pools and I really enjoy the compettion pool. The Compettion pool schedule is confusing so this Friday January 12 2018 it says nothing in lanes 1 through 8 and lap swim in lanes 9 through 11 is that correct, or misprint in the pool schedule, and lap swim is in most or all lanes. Thanks.
Wonderful water workout classes w the best instructor ever--Suzi Stone!Enjoy the arthritis class in water also.
Love bringing my daughter here for skating lessons and free skate after. Cant wait to come in the summer as well for swimming too.
Wow! Lots of great programs to choose from. The staff is wonderful to work with as well. Definitely a good choice.
Salvation Army really needs to figure out how to do quality control. The level of care here is a joke. Its a disgrace to God and the Salvation Army mission. Skip it.
Very good gymnasium and pool, overall great facility.
Nice club atmosphere with with gym, gymnasium, pool, soccer field, and ice area.
Great place, very fun. I hate the fact that the profanity levels are so high yet the administration doesn’t do anything about it.
Great clean big skatepark with lots of ramps great place to share when it rains
Lots of options, clean facility, friendly atmosphere
Diving board in the pool is the best part lol
Love it!
The people there to me are awesome and most helpful, you couldnt ask for any more! !
A great place to enjoy the day and work out
Offers many services for all the members and community
They helped me when I was homeless
