Not a bad escape room by any means, but if you have a couple rooms under your belt already then it might be a little underwhelming. Definitely still had fun and possibly will be back to give their other rooms a try.

We organized a team building event at Lockdown Escape Rooms for our office. We separated in 2 teams, Western and Voodoo rooms. Lot of fun clues to look for, you cannot do it alone, its a team work.It was really fun.The staff was really friendly and helpful.We recommend it and we will definitely come back!

Hands down one of the best escape room venues in San Diego. They have rooms for all experiences. As you walk in they greet and set you up almost immediately. Once you sign the waiver you watch a short back story of your room and what are you goals. If you are able to solve the small puzzle cube they might give you an extra clue for your room but it does t always happen. They have four rooms to try . We have attempted all of them and had a huge success. They have the medevil room easiest, Western room intermediate, voodoo room intermediate, and the lab hardest. The clues are very well placed and with a good team everyone should be successful if not having lots of fun. I would recommend this place.

This is the best escape room place!!!! Love love love their rooms here, especially their Western room. Ive done a lot of escape rooms and so far Lockdowns Western room is my absolute favorite.Their clues all make sense unlike some of the other rooms Ive done. Everything is well thought out and the props are a lot better than other escape rooms in my opinion. Their videos which give you the background story were actually well made.Ive tried all 4 rooms here. The Medieval room was by far the easiest. Three of us completed it in 27 minutes and 13 seconds, with 2 of us being seasoned escape room players and 1 being completely new to escape rooms. They say the Science room is the hardest, but I actually thought the Voodoo room was more difficult.The rooms are $35/person, but if you come back to do another room within a week, they give you a discount.Ranking the rooms in order of the ones I like best:1) Western room2) Science room3) Medieval room4) Voodoo room

Did this as part of a bachelor party and had a great time. We did the Western room which was one of the medium rooms. Most of us had not done an escape room before and two of us had. The puzzles were really fun and require team work. Finished with 20 minutes to spare and no clues used! Would go back and do a more difficult room.

This was our second escape room, 1st time at this location and we had a group of 4. We did the Western Themed room and it was pretty cool. Same kind of concept where you need to figure out puzzles or clues to get codes to unlock locks to get to the next. It takes some brain power and thinking outside of the box, everyone brings something different which is helpful. We were allowed only 3 hints during the game, and we used them wisely. We all Escaped with 5 minutes left on the clock and reveled in our victory! I would definitely recommend trying this one if youve had an easy one under your belt and we are interested in trying the Voodoo room next.

We picked the Voodoo room and had a great time. The staff was super friendly. Krystal and Mark were our clue-givers and they were helpful and even blatantly helpful when we needed it.I did this with my coworkers as a sort of team bonding exercise and we even escaped!! And we are definitely NOT escape room pros. Im already planning my next trip here.

We had fun at Lockdown in the Scientist room. We had a group of 6 and we got out in a bit over 35 minutes! This room was fun! Definitely got stumped a few times but managed to get out with one hint I think..

We were first time escape room players. We had a great time and the staff was very personable and helpful. I would go again to the next level when I return on another vacation. The “easy” room wasn’t too easy or too hard, it was just right to get started in “Escape” games. Thanks for the hour of fun wish it could have lasted longer.

I was in the medieval escape room and my gosh what a good time!!!! If youre on the fence about doing something like this, dont think just do it (like Nike), great time and I was really challenged.

This was the first time I had tried an escape room and it was an awesome experience. The waiting area was super relax and comfy, keeping our group of 7 well seated and anxious in anticipation of what we were gonna see. Amanda, the employee who was helping us, made it an easy and fun experience especially to those of us completely new to escape rooms. We had tried the Science room which was the hardest of all the rooms and found the theme . The inside was well decorated and well lit. All the clues fed into each other making the process of solving the room super enjoyable with constant progress its a drip feed of Ah ha! moments that ultimately reveal the exit to the room. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience which made me want to try the other rooms but unfortunately we were the last party book for the shop before it closed. I would definitely visit here again.

One of the most fun activities I have done in awhile. I went there with a group of friends and I did not know what to expect. It was a live action puzzle. I had an awesome time trying to figure out the puzzles. We only got actually stuck 1 time and we only had asked for a hint once out of the three hints that we had. It was not too hard especially because we were in a big group trying to figure out what we had to do next. I really recommend coming here with a group of more than 4 people. It was an awesome time!

Western Room- This room was pretty cool. Loved the beginning even though we ended up solving it the non traditional way. Dont over think it and remember to communicate your findings and youll be fine. The room its self was not difficult at all. The thumbing is very good and the puzzles arent too challenging. It was the right amount of easy for us. This was our first of 4 rooms for he night so we wanted an easier room to warm us up. I recommend this room if you are newer to escape rooms as I believe it offers a good mix of some common puzzles. The location was easier to find, there is metered parking on the street. The lobby area was nice and they have some awesome props to pose with in your victory photos! Our game masters were very attentive and made the experience super fun, they even stayed to talk with us for a bit afterwards, which we always appreciate!Only reason I took off 1 star was because of a physical puzzle in the room which the GM had to come fix for us because we had been solving it another way which caused a piece to fall out of our reach. To fix this in the future I would simply magnet the item to the piece or hook it onto it so that it cant be knock off so easily.Overall, Western was a fun room if you are looking to kill some time in SD. I would like to come back and try their other rooms as well.

This was our first experience with escape rooms. I liked the fact it was private. My son is very shy and if we were with random other people he would have not been as active. We did the Western room and it was just fine. It did feel like the 1st half (cells) was way more fun the the 2nd half. The 2nd half was too open and I wish it had more structure to them. That being said we did get out with a lot of time to spare.Parking is the biggest issue. I took off a star because they chose this location. They chose to have limited parking. Once you find a spot the actual experience is fun.

Loads of fun. Sure to make your family fight like cats and dogs and make best friends sure frienemies, but only while youre in there. When you get out its like having been to war w/ your platoon, the bonds are indelibly strong and you have good stories to tell your current or future grand-kids over and over again.

Celebrated my daughters 9th birthday with her best friends and had an amazing time. Great service, reasonable price and the room was full of surprises. Enjoyed it the entire time.

Did the voodoo room about a year ago, came back and now they have a three person minimum. Showed up and they had a room available right then, but wanted the two of us to pay the three person price of $105. So instead of making $70 bucks for the room, for the hour, they made nothing. Too bad, there are plenty of other escape rooms.

Had a great time here, Amanda was super helpful and informative to our group of first timers to the escape room scene. The science escape room was great, the puzzles where challenging but not impossible, and we still have 3 more escape rooms to try!

Went here with a group of 4 for the voodoo room. Arrived late because we didnt realize parking is hard to find. Make sure to go to Ralphs parking garage. They were very nice, we had a lot of fun and plan on going back

Well designed room (Western) at the advertised difficulty. The props and scenery were well made, and although the story was pretty light (and provided no reason as to why there were locks everywhere in the sheriffs office - personally I love it when the locks dont take you out of the story), it was sufficient. Would definitely do again in a harder room!

Voodoo room was fun. Mark & Crystal are friendly. Well be back to try another room!

We had two groups of 5 for the Voodoo (women) and Western (men) rooms and I can say that this was a hit with everyone. The rooms presented different styles, but the challenges were well thought out and provided some fun Ive always wanted to try to escape like that moments. Well be doing it again for sure.

Medieval Room In short - The quality and theme of the room is excellent, the puzzles fit with it perfectly and it wasnt random. If introducing new people or you are a beginner its perfect, its very straight forward and should be easy to figure what to do, which is why the difficulty is easy.There is room for improvement though which is why I gave it 4 stars. The room did have some mechanics that didnt work, (No Spoilers) so for instance a puzzle required something to be done and we did it but nothing happened, we spent time doing it the only other possible way and nothing, so we put it back to the original way and still nothing then we fiddled with it until finally the tech/mechanic worked, and this happened to a couple pieces it seemed.Even with that glitch if your an experienced player you may want to stay away because you will solve it quickly. It is very straight forward and easy to see whats needed to be done, seems like this would be the case for beginners as I brought 3 beginners.Also to note this is also a single room so there is no going back and forth wondering if any clues were left behind.

Came here with family for a fun night out. Did the medieval themed room and it was a lot of fun. We managed to get through with only 1 clue and it would have probably been easier if there hadnt been so many of us, 7 people was pushing the limit I think, lol. I would recommend this place to others and would like to come back to try some of the other rooms sometime.

Great atmosphere in the Voodoo room, although our team of 6 was talking over each other wayyyy too much. Didnt end up needing any hints even though this was our first time.

This was an awesome experience. We had three young children with us and they enjoyed it vey much as well. It is amazing to see our children solve some of the clues that we as adults were stuck on.Nina at the front desk was very nice. We will be back for sure.

Took my two boys (10 and 13) for our first ever escape room- didnt know what to expect but we all had a great time in the Western Room! Made it out with less than 2 minutes to spare. All of the employees were fantastic- very friendly, professional, and helpful. Were all fairly good at puzzles and some of them were very tricky. Had to use all three of our hints. Great family activity and forces everyone to work together to succeed. Highly recommend!

My first time at an escape room, It was fun. Not super hard but had some twists and turns.

SO MUCH FUN! My husband and I decided to go in on a whim to see if we could get it. Since it was only the two of us and our first time doing an escape room, we choose to do the medieval room. We made it out with 8 minutes to spare and didnt use any hints. Mark, who hosted us, was great. Very detailed and friendly. Cant wait to go back.Didnt take pics of the full lobby, but it was super clean and smell good (I know that sounds weird, but it did). At the end of escape room, you can take pics using props. Fun!

Crystal was our game director and she was awesome. We managed to escape the medieval room in 35 minutes. What a well designed room. I would suggest a couple things to enhance the experience if people succeed at escaping the room add an epilogue video When you finish the room would be a nice touch to go along with the prologue video we watched in the beginning before we went in the room; and maybe a few golden chocolate coins given to guests at the end cause he says you will become rich if you end up escaping the room with the item. That’s just what I would do if you want to enhance the “lore” of the room. Other than that it was epic. Thanks for a great Christmas gift!

Went here with my 13 year old granddaughter. I have done Escape rooms before but this was her first attempt. We went into the voodoo room, which is rated medium difficulty. I have to say, I found this room extremely challenging. There were at twice as many Clues to solve as in the last escape room I played. I dont see how anybody could possibly solve this room in an hour. Well, we were only two people. I suppose with four or more it is doable. The place was clean and nice and the staff was friendly. I would return here again when I can afford it. It IS bit spendy.

This was such a fun family activity that my husband gave me for my birthday. There were seven of us, which included three adults and four children from the age of 7 to 14. Everyone had fun.We did the western escape room. The story and details were good. The company makes the escape challenging but achievable. We were stumped several times but persevered and figured it out. There were a few really challenging parts that I dont think the kids could have solved on their own, so I do think having an adult in the room is helpful.Overall a great activity. We cant wait to come back for more!

Over all it was an amazing experience. I just wish we couldve taken pictures inside but its understandable why they dont allow that. The parking could be closer though, even though it was across the street, it was quite confusing if you are not familiar with that area.

I had never done an escape room prior to my experience at Lockdown Escape Room, but my family and I visited the one in San Diego.Our instructor, Nina, was very helpful in explaining how the room worked while not giving to much away and laying down the rules of the room clearly. Even though we didnt finish the room in time she explained the clues we missed from our end point to the finish of the puzzle. It was a great experience overall for and would gladly try another room on my next trip to San Diego.

This was my first time doing an escape room, so I had no idea what to expect. However, the Western Escape Room at Lockdown Escape Rooms in San Diego blew my expectations away! I bought a Groupon for a group of four, and enjoyed the fact that we had a private room for our group. We finished with only three minutes to spare, and utilized all three hints from our guides over the walkie-talkie they provided to complete our puzzle. I would love to come back!

Had a large company event here and couldnt have been better. We had 50 people participate and the staff was welcoming and easy to work with. Couldnt have asked for a better run event.

I used an escape room to propose to my partner, and Mark and Lisa were so amazing and comitted to helping me make the day perfect. On the day of, Mark saved the day when the ring couldn’t fit in the final space and improvised by bringing in a chest to hide it in. It was an amazing day, and I am just so thankful for their support. As for the game itself, I had so much fun in the medieval room. It wasn’t too challenging and was really straight forward. The room was also nicely decorated and really fit the theme. We are already planning on going back and doing the western room!

It was fun but challenging at the same time. We were in the Western themed room and I dont think we would have been able to get out in an hour to save our lives! This did show how teamwork building is so important. Thanks for everything.

Such a fun time!! I planned a date night for my fiancé and I and I wanted to surprise him with an escape room! (We had done one before and loved it). Lockdown did not disappoint!!! I booked the Voodoo room (which proved itself challenging), however Mark gave us 5 extra minutes to try finishing the room and we finished it 1 min 20 sec later). We ended up loving it so much we booked the Western room for later in the evening. We beat that room at 58 min and 40 sec. The rooms were no easy feat, but the props and the helpful hints from our hosts Mark and Lisa made it a great experience. I highly recommend!!! Definitely deserves 5 stars!!!

Our family of 4 did the Western Room. It was a blast. We had to work together and everyone found a way to contribute to our escape. Themed room was great (a few pieces need updated) and Mark was really helpful. Loved it and were wanting to return for the Medieval Room.

Solid escape room experience.We did the Medieval Room with a group of 8 on a Sunday. Staff was friendly and accommodating of our group and schedule. We made a reservation in advance, and the entire event ran smoothly.We had the room for an hour, and it took us about 30-minutes to complete all of the puzzles without hints. It felt shorter than other escape rooms Ive done, but the size of our group could have easily impacted that.PROPS: Escape room build out, and the intro video were put together well, and showed a lot of care and attention to detail.SLOPS: Medieval Room puzzles felt a bit easy. That being said, this WAS labeled as medium difficulty.

My girl & I played the medieval room. It was challenging and fun. We actually had to ask for 2 hints to keep us moving along. We escaped with 5 minutes to spare.

Had an absolute blast - and we didnt even escape! the challenges are layered, cryptic puzzles and you will use your brain to correlate! we tried the hardest one and were quickly humbled - but this fact did not detract from the fun. engaging and difficult - we are absolutely going back! also, there is a time-limited return coupon they offer. staff was super helpful, and they even offer hints, if needed. cannot wait to return, phenomenal times!

What a great time this was. While on a trip to San Diego we used Groupon and attended the “western”. Nina the host was by herself and new employee. She was wonderful and never got flustered. She was so amazing and I can’t wait to go again when we get home. Thank you for a great experience

Definitely my favorite of the escape rooms I have been to in SD! 4/5 stars because it was the most expensive one I had done at $35 a person. Great for birthdays and/or small groups of friends!

This place was so great. We did the Voodoo room. We did have to use all of our clues and found the staff was really great and it didnt feel like cheating just helpful! After we completed our room we discovered we accidentally skipped a couple steps (Oops!) but the staff was STILL able to keep us on track with the clues and we made it out. We have so much fun in Voodoos RoomFirst of all, the person that received us (I think his name was Mark) was very nice with us and helpful.The room was very challenging and fun, we thought that by being only two people, is was going to be very hard, but we made it!I totally recommended it for couple date or friends.

This was only our 1st and 2nd experience at an escape room. The 4 of us had a blast. While we didn’t succeed, we made good progress and learned a lot. Sadly I don’t recall the name of the employee who was present but he was GREAT. We attended the San Diego location on Wednesday night at 4:15. Thanks for the fun and laughs !!

The first time I came, I had a good time. The second time I did not, I used up all lifelines and did not figure it put however when explained what I missed I felt other clues couldve been used instead of the ones presented to us, also youre expected to lay on the floor in the Science Room, one of the few examples not explained when asking for hints. Thats all Ill say without having to spoil anything for other people but as an example on what couldve been used instead. As long as I dont keep getting the same employee I may keep returning

Went here for my birthday with two other friends and a good time was had by all. We booked the old west room and sparing the spoilers it was challenging, but not so hard we could not finish. The decoration was well done and complimented the back story. Afterwards we had time to do the voodoo themed room and it was equally if not more impressive. Would go again and I recommend it.

The Escape Room was a good time, but there was only one person working the entire building. We would solve a piece of the puzzle but nothing happened because the person working there wasn’t paying attention or dealing with others. Therefore we almost ran out of time to escape the room.

Very fun! The puzzles were pretty difficult, but my group got really close to solving it. We went on the medium difficulty. If I could do it again, I would add more time than an hour, but I guess it just depends on how quick you are at these types of things. Definitely would reccomend.

Awesome place took the kids there for a family outing, was intense and fun and made us all work togethet. I highly recommend it. The one employee they had on duty was awesome and even gave us a extra hint so we could finish the adventure. Used Groupon brought price down 50%
