Awesome experience! Have been to a few other escape rooms around San Diego and this one was easily the best. Jill is super fun and made the experience really amazing!

Anthony is a great guy. Also the CSI room is actually super fun and full of so many things, I was never bored. Ive done a few of these and I was actually scared that we werent going to get out in time. Would definitely recommend.

We just had our annual team building event for our office at House of Hints and LOVED IT! We had 4 teams of 5 people and only 1 team escaped. Even those of us who lost still had tons of laughs and challenges and it was an excellent way to have people within an organization work together with other teams. The staff were welcoming, explained things very clearly, and even gave us some hilarious feedback. I would never go with a group less than 4 or 5, you need all of the brainpower and different methods of problem solving.

My guy & I are huge fan of Escape rooms. Everywhere we travel, we do a few and being from San Diego, weve done quite a few here. House of Hints truly went the extra mile for us because they helped my (now) fiance propose! We came in to complete The CSI Lab and apparently, my fiance and the employees had already had plans well underway. They asked if wed like to come back next week and do the Pawn Shop room and we agreed. The Pawn Shop room was the game in which he actually proposed and the owner had customized the room to our relationship (without me knowing. Look, Otters!) Regardless of my fiance using the room to propose, each was incredibly well-done. The CSI Lab was so much fun and Pawn Shop was a blast. The hints are well-done and at times, hilarious, and the moderators were a lot of fun. I highly recommend each of these rooms and House of Hints. Absolutely one of the best break out rooms weve each participated in. Thank you to the entire team for the perfect proposal!

My family and I raced each other in the High School Detention rooms. It was SO FUN! We will definitely be returning! Chrissy and Taylor were excellent hosts! They provided very helpful, timely hints and kept the race close and competitive! Could not have asked for a better experience or for better hosts!!

Owner is very friendly. The rooms are really creative. We had a great time!

My family and I visited to celebrate a birthday. We were put in the csi room which was really a big mess. Nothing systematic which requires problem solving skills. Just a big mess of objects. Some locks did not work although we had the correct codes, and the hints that we were given were misleading. I am pretty sure that someone had a good laugh on the other side. I really dont think that this is the way to treat guests. We left feeling very frustrated and disappointed. Avoid!

Came with a couple of friends and brought my 9 year old daughter, we all had a great time. Taylor was an awesome coordinator with explaining everything before we started as well as during the challenge. Would definitely recommend this place and plan on going back to check out the other rooms.

Completed the Pawn Shop room today. So much fun. Creative clues. Great experience.

I came here for a work team building event and had a fabulous time! The staff were fun, engaging and supportive. The room challenges were a lot of fun and my team came together to solve problems. This would be great for people of all ages and group types.

Went there as a team building event for my company & had an absolute blast. Ive played digital room puzzle games for years, but this was my first live adventure. I have to say, Im hooked! Great set up, nice people running it (thanks, Chrissy!) & it was challenging enough to make it fun, but not so much as to be frustrating. Highly recommend House of Hints.

This place was awesome!! We completed the CSI lab escape room!! The rules and helpful hints given before starting are great!! The story premise really pumps you up to get in the room and solve the puzzles!! The hosts for the room are attentive and work with you to give hints while your in the room if it seems like youre struggling or off track. Highly recommend to groups who like mind puzzles and working together to make things happen!! We played with a group of four people and it worked really well!!

We had a blast going through this scenario. I love adventures that make you think outside the box and utilize those cerebral skills. Its amazing how you react in a situation like this and my team stepped up to the challenge. they have excellent moderators and the whole experience was exhilarating! We must try another one here!

Awesome escape room place. Me and my friends did all the available rooms a few months ago and had a great time. Great staff, great entertainment. A bit pricey but well worth it.

We did the highschool one and it was awesome! I like that hints are occasionally given on a case by case basis. It was very well developed.

The rooms are fun and set up to provide a range of challenges for any difficulty. The puzzles are creative - some of the random things you find early turn out to be useful later. Definitely helps to keep track of everything, even if its not useful no.The staff is great at giving enough help and hints to help you without giving it all away. The rooms also change over time so theres usually something new to check out.Plus, there are breweries nearby to help you prepare and/or recap the adventure.

The staff was great and so was the game (CSI). Made it with only couple of minutes left. Not too easy. Not frustratingly difficult. Just loads of fun. I would like to try the other stories soon.

Fantastic experience. We did the CSI room and it had a super interesting storyline along with tricky puzzles. Also, when we were stuck, there were hints to guide us along the way. We were having so much fun that we didnt even realize how fast the time flew! Excellent service with extremely courteous and friendly staff. Well definitely be back soon to try another room.

This was a great experience. We did a birthday party for our teenager and his friends. It was fun and we all had a great time solving the puzzles. Would definitely do this again.

This was an excellent adventure! They explained everything well and set us up just right, leaving enough mystery so we were slightly nervous which you wanna be for this type of experience. At first we thought we were never gonna solve it, but we got enough hints both in the room that we were able to get out. It wasnt easy, you definitely need a team. It made our brains work, and I saw so many parallels to life. Thank you house of hints!

Great place for tweens and teens to put down their cell phones and have a great time with friends. Rooms can be geared toward age appropriate clues. Super nice and helpful staff that clearly enjoy making sure your group is having a good time. This was our first escape room event so I dont have another one to compare it to, but all 12 of our party said they had a wonderful time! Each room can handle 6 people so we had 2 rooms with 2 different themes. Both groups loved their theme: CSI and High School Detention. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars was because of the lobby. There wasnt place to celebrate our birthday party. The place is designed for arriving, doing the escape room, then leaving. No place to celebrate a special occasion.

We had a team building event here and it was the groups first time in an escape room. All I can say is...so much fun and I will do it again. It takes lots of teamwork to figure out all the clues and escape. The staff is extremely helpful and will provide clues if they see you struggling. The rooms a good size, so you wont feel cramped or claustrophobic. You have an hour to make it out and that time flies by quick. If you are looking for something fun to do and a little different, I highly recommend House of Hints.

We did pawn shop. It is a well done non linear room with lots of puzzles. Our group of 4 adults and a 4 yo made it out with just minutes to spare.

I have been here three times (twice in 2015) and recently in May of 2017. Each time the experiences were excellent. I strongly recommend that those looking for corporate events and / or private party experiences look into House of Hints.I strongly recommend full or near-full parties (4 to 5 people per room), to ensure you get the best experience.

This was a really fun place and the guys hosting the games were great! I booked this as a team building event for 12 of our managers. We split into two teams and competed against each other in the two identical rooms. It was a fun way of promoting collaboration. Our boss had a blast watching us from the control room and it enabled her to make observations about our behavior. Overall the entire team felt it was the best team building experience theyve ever had.

I just want to say that this place was a TON of fun! Three friends and I played in the PI room for my friends birthday, and it was one of the coolest things that weve done in San Diego. The owner, Jill, was our guide, and she was extremely fun. Were definitely coming back to explore the other rooms, and I completely recommend this place if youre looking for something fun and different to do.

Ahh what a blast we had today! Family group of 12 of all ages and interests actually agreed that House of Hints was fun and stimulating for everyone! We raced each other in the identical JD Beckett rooms which was an additional thrill. (We both finished on time :))The moderators Ben and Matt had great energy and gave us all a good, fun, relaxed yet exciting time. They were super patient with our boisterous group and really gracious about our special needs sister.Highly recommend this place and glad there was nothing scary and surprising in the rooms like other escape rooms have.

For my 51st birthday, I was surprised with being in high school detention! Had the best time trying to escape with my family before the principal came back! The puzzles were challenging and fun! Highly recommend!!

This place was a lot of fun. We went here as a group (6 adults) and had a blast trying to solve the puzzles. It was my first time at an escape room and I wasnt exactly sure how it worked, but with the help of the other people who were with me and the hints that helped keep us on the right trail, we were able to solve the puzzles and escape from the room just in time. Well thought out and lots of parts to the puzzles kept it engaging and fun.

Lots of fun!!! The puzzles were creative, challenging and fun for everyone. We had 2 groups in 2 different rooms and enjoyed both. Will definitely be back to visit other rooms.

It was such a great experience. My sister, a friend and I did the JD beckett room, it was really intense figuring out the clues and the the mystery. We didnt make it out in time but we figured out the suspect and with 5 more minutes we could have escaped. Definitely want to come back again for a different room

We held a 12 year old birthday party for our daughter at House of Hints. Originally when I called I asked if it was appropriate for 12 year olds and the young man I spoke to said yes. It really wasnt appropriate and I felt disappointed that they werent honest. However, my 15 year old daughter enjoyed it. I wouldnt return though.

Went here as a team building event and had a great time. They were very efficient and organized with our group. The room my team had was really elaborate and challenging!

We had an amazing time doing the CSI Room, helped along by Chrissie. The puzzles were a lot of fun to work through, and our group of 8 (slightly larger than the recommended 6) felt well-equipped to solve them. We did receive a few hints from Chrissie, primarily to let us know that a clue someone was frantically searching for had been found by somebody else. Our large group worked against us at those times. We did escape with a bit more than three minutes to spare, but the final moments felt suitably frantic. It was the first time at an escape room for all 8 of us, and I think all of us would definitely recommend House of Hints to any of our friends looking for a first go at one. Thanks, Chrissie!

This place is AWWWEEESOMME!!!!!! We just got out of our escape room a few minutes ago and had a BLAST. The owner, Jill, was the moderator of our room and she is hilarious. It is pretty interactive and very intricately designed. I am totally coming back here every time I have guests from out of town. SO entertaining and stimulating, and a completely unique experience.

We did the Black OPs room (Hard difficulty) as a team building activity. It was very challenging and rewarding. If youre new to escape rooms though I would definitely not recommend this particular room- I believe they have a medium difficult one, try that one first.

I am personally a fan of this place! I have visted the place twice and have had an awesome experience each time. There are good number of rooms with scenarios to choose from accorsing yo their difficulty levels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A must visit place for all the riddle enthusiasts!! Note: The place also has accessible parking lots.

We went as a group of 8 to compete 4 v 4 during a birthday party. Our head-to-head rooms were the Detective scenario, and my groups moderator (Casey) was funny and friendly and helpful.

This was a surprisingly challenging and rewarding experience! I would recommend this place to anybody. The owners were fun and friendly and the puzzles were very creative. Great way to spend an hour and connect with friends or coworkers. I went with 4 video gamer/boardgame geeks and we didnt escape in time! They provide great hints that keep the game moving yet challenging, so im sure someone of any age or background will have a good time.Ours was a british themed crime noir mystery room and we raced another group of friends who were located in an identical room next door.
