This is absolutely hands down the best amphitheatre in CA with seating under 5,000. Every seat in the house has a great view and the sound here is also excellent.I saw Adele here years ago before she launched to the stratosphere and many other shows since. The amphitheatre underwent a complete seating upgrade a few years back and gone are the mismatched seat color scheme and in is a new green hue. The seats in the triple and double letters are a smidge wider than the seats in the single letter. So if you want max comfort, go down to the double letters. The only downside is this venue is if you have great seats and you want to visit concessions, you have to walk all the way back up and thats going to out you close to 100 steps up and another 100 down. Upside, you will get your cardio for the day.Concessions carries stadium type food like nachos and hotdogs. There are other snacks like pretzels and churros. There is no hard liquor sales, just beer and wine.

When to see Roberto Carlos and it was amazing! Took my mother (her first concert ever) anyways to the point. Its an outside venue so please take something thick if you get cold easily. It seem people were lost about seating... very top is single letter, middle section is double letter and bottom (closest to the stage is triple letter. Oh btw this venue is down hill with ALL step both ways.I would recommend you eat before entering, most times theres no reentry, and even though there are snacks everything there is a little pricey and tasteless.Thats all I have. So enjoy your event when attending it.

The venue makes for a great out door concert experience. Easy to get to even though it is in the center of a university campus. Parking is $20 and a bit of a walk. But weather in SD IS USUALLY NICE SO NOT AN ISSUE.Some what surprised that a public university may sell beer.Only caution is the the amphitheater is VERY STEEP.

I really loved this venue! It had such a cool feel and the sound was great! Because of the steep grade, everyone has an excellent view of the stage! We saw Janelle Monáe, and it was such an awesome show! Ticket prices were reasonable and the walk from the parking lot wasn’t too bad.

Went here for a Lana Del Rey show, got in the immediate area around 6-ish. Its college parking, so its either a few main structures or spaced out lots between large complexes. Theres one way roads and heavy pedestrian traffic so you really cant make a wrong turn. Our lot was easy to access and the spaces wont squish you in.

Nice intimate venue. Seats are that really hard plastic so if you are at a mostly sit concert, bring a cushion! Bathrooms at both the top and bottom of the venue (thank you for that!). Typical stadium type food meaning hot dogs, beer, nachos, popcorn kind of stuff. Loads and loads of single use plastic at concessions. No outside stuff allowed so you cant bring a reuseable canteen. Hopefully they are planning on changing this. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Great venue for a concert. We saw Peter Frampton and the sound and seating were great. Only negative was a lot of steps to get to your seats. The closer to the stage your seats and more costly, the more stairs you walked down then back up to leave. Handicapped had to enter through the stage area.

I give three stars with no fault of college of staff but simply from personal preference of the stage layout, although Im sure others like the set -up. Often there are good bands playing that I want to see so Ive been to this theater several times even when its not my favorite. When I go to concerts I like to be up by the stage and personal with the artists preforming. However, here you cant do that. Theres a big fence ever if you are in the front row separating stage from audience. Its seats too so gives a more formal vibe like an orchestra concert except its outside.I like that its outdoors and this often doesnt effect the acoustics except the last concert I went to the microphones needed to be turned up. I could barely hear the singers over the guitars, which isnt the case at other venues Ive been to. Yet, Ive seen Deftones at Cal Coast and heard frontman, Chino, just fine so maybe it was the equipment or the location of my seat in the D section this time?I personally could do without the chairs in front, but I know this stage is used for other events too that need chairs. I prefer the option of general admission for those up front who would like to dance or rock out without chairs being there and then chairs farther up. I feel distant from the musicians even up close due to the chairs and the fence and the divide from stage. I know its for security reasons and at bigger stadiums this is now the common procedure so its nothing against the stadium itself just my opinion.Good light coordinatation and video effects though and overall good sound. Alot of good bands come play here.

I would suggest arrive 45 minutes before a show starts and get your drinks as soon as you can!

Honestly, my least favorite venue in the city. The sound is only decent if you are directly centered and the views are taken away by the lights of the library and the dorms and buildings around. The prices for the venue are some of the highest in the area with the lowest quality experience. Unfortunately, many great acts stop here and Im forced to attend this facility.

Excellent venue, the location, the way the seats are situated. Most any seat is a good seat. Plus its out door. At about 5:30p the shade from the trees and buildings blocks the sunlight which is refreshing here in So. Cal. so you can focus on the event. We will be coming back here again tonight we saw Lauryn Hill performing and the whole mood and vibe was perfect.

Its a great venue to see a show just 1 mens bathroom and $11 small beer and mot exactly loud enough for a comcert. The beer was cold and I have seen a lot of great shows over the years there just its not as loud as it was 20 years ago unfortunately. Also $40 for a ticket is a little high, if the tickets were less it would have sold out for Stome Temple Pilots and Rival Sons who killed it last night, Epic Singer/Guitarist, Drummer! After calling and being assured I could roll right in to my disability seat for the Peter Frampton Concert, that was not the case. I was told to wait, with other handicapped individuals, while the elevator, at the complete opposite side of the stadium, was being used for the tour. After waiting maybe 15-20 minutes, a venue escort took us down the long walk (I use a rollator) to the elevator, and then I had to walk down another long ramp, and halfway around the stadium to my accessible seats. Now I entered the stadium right at the top where my seats were, but there was no way to access directly. I missed the entire first act of the concert. And, there was no way to reach a bathroom, accessible or otherwise, that I could determine, since escorts were required to get to and from seating--and they did not stay with us during the concert. After the concert, the escorts reappeared to escort us the long way around again. I dont think this is what the ADA deems accessible. And SDSU AND Cal Coast Credit Union should be ashamed of their treatment of people with disabilities.

The theatre is not bad for an outside theatre. The sound was good and staff were decent. Only drawback is there is only one beer station and the line is way too long. They need to offer at least two spots to buy beer so you dont spend 20 to 30 minutes in line.

Nice to see shows here again. I appreciate the promoters bringing it back for central San Diegans. ZZ Top was great. Of course the sound system needs some improvement, but its what youd expect from an outside venue. Sound fades to black. Otherwise is alot of fun. Karl Strauss has the beer concessions for now. And the only food is hot dogs, hot dogs and nachos.

The venue is awesome. Really, not a bad seat in the house. The acoustics there are also very, very good. Just saw Peter Frampton with openers by The Julian Frampton Band and The Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience. Incredible concert. Ther one downside, ant the reason for 4 vs. 5 stars, is that the restroom facilities leave a lot to be desired. Nice enough when you get inside, but during the rush the lines can be hundreds of people long. Plan pit stops early or youll be searching for a bush...

Really nice seating arrangement in this very cool venue. The only complaint that I have is there is only one bar which makes the wait really long. Other than that everything is pretty nice. Parking is reasonably close and secure. The fact that it is in the middle of a school campus has a nice vibe to it. The people tend to be more sociable I noticed... As if they are expecting people in the crowd to very likely be students they might know. When it comes to a huge act coming through town this is still pretty intimate compared to a stadium but still big enough to fit the crowd of a huge artist.
