What a fun and instagrammable little spot! Came here with some friends just to listen to some music and check out their fun bathrooms I heard all about! It was a Friday night and we were able to walk right up, show IDs and enter the venue. You walk up stairs to get to the venue and there are two rooms. One room seemed very chill with some cute lanterns all over the ceiling and the other room was dark and definitely the dance/rave room. Maybe I am old but I could not see anything in there. The bathroom was super cool. There was no wait and juts like me others were there to gram it (yup, we are those girls). Each stall was themed and you could tell the theme from the outside door. Please be sure to check out the Ryan Gosling one! All in all, a fun time and chill vibe.

This place is my preferred one. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this one I constantly return again and again. The team is very helpful and the cooking they offer is so flavorful. I am always happy to have a good dinner in this place. I highly recommend this place.

Good sushi with a varied menu that also included creamy shrimp (awesome) and braised short ribs (didnt try) among many other items. Happy hour prices until 7:00 PM which really helped minimize the tab with 7 people.Darkly lit in the main area due to the club nature of the establishment.

Arrived in time for happy hour. Half priced standard rolls and pork buns. I found everything to be very tasty. Our waitress had a great energy and took great care of our party. By the time we finished, the gorgeousness started filling the place up. Would have been fun to stay and watch whatever would have unfolded

Cool ambiance for dinner. Menu was pretty standard as far as sushi/Japanese places go. Prices were about average as well. After dinner the place really starts to liven up a bit and turns into a fun club. Great place to start your night or work into your night of bar hopping throughout the Gaslamp District. (Be cautious of the stairs though!)

Great place for drinks and a good dancing music

I went in for a short happy hour sushi session and the staff was awesome. They really made the difference. The sushi was really fresh and they gave it the TLC it needed. There wassabi is quite different and refreshingly good. I just heard of this place as a nightclub but honestly Id go back for sushi any day of the week.

I am very torn as to writing this review. I love this place (or at least I did), the vibes, the drinks, the food is good too, but, my last visit really turned me off to wanting to come back. My husband and I love going to San Diego and enjoying the nightlife and all it has to offer in the Gaslamp District. Places are themed and thought out and just so much fun to go to and we just happened to stumble upon this one about 3 years ago thanks to Yelp. Our big thing is Tiki and Tiki drinks or craft cocktails and we only heard good things; so we popped in!The first time we were here, we sat at the bar, shared a roll and a bowl (drink). It was amazing, no complaints. But our last visit, we talked this place up so much and brought good friends with us to show them a good time and the uniqueness of Bang Bang! As we were brought to our table, a very large roach crawled over the booth, the host snatched it up so quickly and it was gone; but... that feeling you know that there might be more just stuck with me the whole time we were there. I know, the building is older and so on, but I just could not get it out of my mind. My friend and I made the men sit on the booth while we sat on the stools hoping there would be no more. Thank goodness, there were not or I would have been running out of there. It is not what I want to see when I go out to eat or drink.Our group ordered drinks and some ordered food and the drinks we great the sushi rolls were just ok. We will be going back to the San Diego area, but I do not think Bang Bang will be on my list of places I want to go back to. I just cannot, I do not want to pay that kind of money on food and drinks and keep thinking in the back of my mind the roaches that might be in the seats, walls and on the floor. I just cannot. If you can, then give it a shot, but I will not be back here.

Very hip, trendy kinda vibe. DJ was too loud for dinner, though. But a good place to celebrate bday (bec they give mochi ice cream) or just hang with friends. This is where we started our bar hopping night in Gaslamp.

Fun spot for it all. Bang bang is made up of three rooms, one room for the bar/ dining room, one room for a quaint sushi restaurant, and one room for the dance floor.

I really like Bang Bang, the ambiance is nice, love the decorations & they happen to get some of my fav Djs every few months so thats why I go back.The hugest downside (which I cant really fault them for because its not really in their control) is often times the crowd that shows up is disrespectful or just too immature to make you feel like you really wanna be there. (picture 18yo that have a fake ID - grinding - twerking - pushing - shoving crowd) so I never end up having as good of a time here simply because of that.

Super cool atmosphere and themes, food was amazing as well as the service. And on Friday and Saturday nights If you buy food you get free access to the night club.

Amazing quality of fish. Ive been to Japan, the quality there is unreal. When you order Toro, they have three different grades there. This place, is as close to authentic as it can get. Holy smokes, I was blown away! Thank you for the great aquatic culinary treat. I really enjoyed it!!!

Could be a fun venue with the right artist and if the staff kicked out weirdos.. was there for 40 minutes and experienced more weirdos in those 40 minutes than I have all last year, from old creepy guys hitting on girls to full frat bros banging on bathroom stalls saying “police” until someone opened the stall. Probably won’t be on the top of my list of places to go in SD.

(nightclub review) we came to visit here for the overall night club experience that happens on the weekends, i guess. this place has a great overall vibe and the sound system is awesome. you come here and are instantly up close and personal with the DJ. there isnt a bad spot in the house although i suggest you come early to beat the crowd

11/9/19 - Had a reservation at 9:15, wasnt seated until 9:45pm. The server took forever to bring us our sashimi. I mean how long does it take to cut a slice of fish? After dinner around 11pm, I went to another room where there the DJ was spinning.  Shortly after, a group of 4 ppl pushed past me; 2 going in one direction & 2 going in the other. I thought it was weird that they decided to squeeze in where I was b/c it wasnt crowded. 1 min. later, I reach down to grab my purse only to find it wide open! One of them went into my purse & stole my phone while the others distracted me.  Never would I expect this to happen in San Diego.I told a security guard that there are people stealing phones. Dude looked annoyed and just asked if I was staying the whole night b/c thats when they can check lost & found. I knew they stole my phone b/c it was turned off immediately after it was taken. Also, why would I stay somewhere I felt unsafe?!? Security couldve looked up camera footage to see who they were & caught them, but they didnt do anything! The lack of concern/safety for their patrons is disappointing. I guess people dont care about anything unless it affects them. If you ever set foot in here BEWARE! I felt helpless and just left out of frustration.Another thing that didnt make sense was that we bought tickets for the show that night but no one checked for those tickets when we got done with dinner. We spent an extra $40 on tickets that we didnt need.

Amazing decor, location, staff,drinks and the sushi rolls were some of the best Ive ever had! I highly recommend this place! We also went to the DJ show they had that night, the dance floor is a good size, the Disco ball is super cool! I dont believe this place is handicap friendly however, you have to walk up a flight of stairs (they look like a French subway, its pretty cool) from the street to enter.

Fresh sushi expertly prepared. The uni topped scallop is the perfect bite! Go to Bang Bang, sit at the sushi bar and eat whatever Chef prepares for you. You wont be disappointed.

Got the party roll special for a party and five and everyone left full and satisfied. The rolls were great. Stick to the party menu when with big groups to save $$$

Cool techno club, service staff were very friendly. Security was a bit standoffish when asking them a question but I understand they deal with some crazy people sometimes. Would go here again.

Great food. We ordered several rolls and every one was delicious. The atmosphere is chic with candlelight and sexy music. Super cool decor creates perfect photo opps.

The food was great!! Although it was dark inside, the colorful lights and great music gave it a club vibe.

Super swanky sushi spot. Delicious fried rice too! Great for a group gathering. Really moody. Also, weird as it is, youve got to check out the bathrooms - theyre decorated with some crazy wallpaper like Ryan Gosling photos and Godzilla decor.

Walked in with reservations and it took 5 min to just get acknowledged, and then waited at our table for over 10 min. No one came to take our order or even just let us know that theyll be helping us. This completely turned is off that we ended up leaving too just find a different place.

Food is great and employees are super nice. The music is always so good they have some amazing artists come in. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because being a picky festival goer there isnt too much production with their stage. Could definitely use some more lights and visuals !!

They may give your credit card to a stranger.I bring my friend to Bang Bang, we enjoy drinks and have a fun night, and when it’s time to checkout they say that his card is nowhere to be found. After they asked to check our pockets (we didnt even get the check, but we did it as a courtesy to them) they started escalating the question until they found what happened.It wasnt Lexie, our server, who messed up but her manager John Frank. John gave the card, which has a picture of my friend (an Indian man) to a stranger (white girl) who took it, signed the check, and left the place. So now we are told that my friend will have to block his card, get a new one, and consequently to call all the businesses with pending transactions on the card, plus the recurring charges, and update the payment information.When confronted with what happened they refused any cooperation and any fair settlement. Now, when I screw up I am accountable for it – when you do, you are. Probably they dont care about customers in Bang Bang, as long as they sell their alcohol.Who likes to get their card stolen? While the intentions of the girl who has the card were (probably) not criminal, still John Frank’s behavior was irresponsible, and he took no action to make up for the mistake. I am so sorry for my friend, and I had no other choice than to write this review.Note that I like the place, and I am sure that John is a good manager and Lexie is the sweetest bartender ever – we love them – but you can’t do nothing in front of a situation like this and just throw your mistakes to your customers.

Love the atmosphere. I got the spare ribs and they were burnt to the griddle. The sushi was good though. Trust me on this one: the bathrooms are worth the visit alone. Hey girl!

Great service! Food is okay. Nothing spectacular. Mixed drinks are more miss than hit. Sangria tasted like fruit punch Gatorade. It was slow for a Saturday night at 6.

We came here to see Mad Zach, which Im sure is not the typical DJ that plays here, but this guy is amazing, so props for this club booking him! The club itself is very cool. There are endless things to look at, from Hello Kitty and Ryan Gosling themed bathrooms stalls in the girls bathroom, to the huge variously decorated hanging paper lanterns on the ceiling in the bar. The staff is all very friendly and professional, and this place overall had a good vibe. The crowd is super basic and annoying, but a typical club-goer would probably love it. I had a good time here :)

Can confirm this is a real club with real club music. Just saw Spencer Brown here and it was amazing.

This place has an amazing happy hour. I heard that they turn this place into a night club once the sun goes down but I didnt stay for it. The happy hour has a great selection of food and drinks.

Cool Deejays play here. Good house music often. You can only pay for the tickets with cash though, even though the bar accepts cards. They have an ATM with a 5 dollar transaction fee. The drink prices are pretty steep as well, and the bouncer with the overly manicured eyebrows is an arrogant prick. But the bartenders are pretty, and the music playing here is usually good. Also cool wallpaper in the bathroom.

Decent sushi but overall fun atmosphere. Wouldnt expect this to be a sushi restaurant- you have to walk up stairs to get to the top like a club, so points for uniqueness.

Made reservations, upon arriving we were greeted by 3 people who worked there but didnt help us. When I asked to be seated at the sushi bar area the waitress acknowledged what i asked but still tried to walk us over to a table in the middle of the club area. When we got sat at the sushi bar area we sat and waited over 10 minutes as we hear whoever was working that area mingle with other coworkers and never asked us for our orders or if we were interested in any drinks while we waited. At this point, my wife and I walked out. Im all for a club but that wasnt our intention and I guess our reservations were too late to be taken as a eating reservation and assumed we were there to dance and not eat.

Love the atmosphere. The bartender with (GREEN HAIR) wish I wouldve caught his name, anyway by the best customer service Ive experienced in a long time.

The environment here is amazing. The decor, the artwork, it is something you have to experience. That being said, the food is also fantastic. It is a bit pricier than the smaller and more popular sushi places, but it is higher quality food. The service was average though. I expected better for the cost of the restaurant. I would visit again if I knew there was a special.

Awesome trendy atmosphere! We came here for dinner and ordered the whole menu and two huge punch bowls. Those punch bowls creep up on you! We ordered a huge selection of sushi rolls, pork belly buns, tuna and avocado tacos, and fried rice. Its a fun place to go and dont forget to go to the bathrooms! There is the famous Ryan Gosling bathroom and hello kitty style bathroom. Its fun and picture-worthy! After dinner, check out the club in the next room. Beware, it might be foggy but dance the night away!

Bang bang was fun with cool vibe and tasty food and drink. The giant disco ball sold me right away. Only been once back when Claude vonstroke played in 2014 but it was the greatest time. Highly recommend to my friends.

This bar looks cool and sometimes has a decent sound, but that’s about it. The service is horrible! I waited 20 minutes for a server to come around but was ignored. Servers forgot which order went where and who ordered what. Just disorganized. And then when I did get to order, everything was WAY overpriced.Overall, just not worth the attempt at trying a new place.

Food is average. Alcoholic beverages are tasty concoctions.

Great venue, great staff (especially bouncers), and great sound quality. The only complaint is the cost of drinks. $15 for a whiskey meat is a bit painful!

Id like to give this venue another try. It was a very hip atmosphere with the huge disco ball and lighting effects as well as an school decor. The bar was almost speakeasy like with its retro dim lighting. I wasnt a fan of the dj the night I went by my friends though he was lit!
