With all the Covid going around this place has definitely done there part with mitigating the spread and still being able to have fun and be able to live with this pandemic going around. Great job here!
After searching forever for somewhere to eat that wasnt an hr wait but over crowded and chaotic (hello The RONA) we stumble upon this quiet but busy rad little bbq bar and got food to go and a drink while I waited. Low and behold turned out to be some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. All the sides included. Very clean and organized and the staff was all very friendly. This was their first night reopen and they’re killing it. Definitely recommend 10/10️️️
A strange hybrid of a club. One room is country and the other plays hip hop. There is a mechanical bull in their hip hop room. The place has two floors. Fun to watch the drunks get enough liquid courage to ride the bull or get too rowdy and get thrown out. Theres plenty of security to control the chaos. While I waa there, they were on it. Popular in the college scene. Definitely worth going back.
I love the mix of country and rap/hip hop. Has what u want, drinks n all...Itll always b my go to place
Love the atmosphere. Whether your a little more country or something crazier the place has both. Great place to hang out and meet some new people while grabbing some great beer. Love their craft beers.
Place was great. Here to celebrate a friends bachelor party and it went well. Good music and good drinks always adds up to a great time. There are two rooms, one of them is the main bar area. The other is a room with a mechanical bull that everyone rides. Cool place.
Great Drinks and good music, but very rough crowd with yelling and fights. Was there last night, hardly any security. a couple fights and that just kills the fun vibe this place could potentially be, so we left, plenty more fun places to go to in the Gaslamp. If its crowded youll get pushed around.
Love it. Bull rides lots of fun and a good laugh. Karaoke nights are especially fun. Great atmosphere.
Great place too party
Wasnt aware there was a mechanical bull. When I figured it out, spent all my time there. Fun to watch. Very accommodating.
We werent there for long, but in our short time there were about 4 fights. Three were started by the same individual. He was finally removed by security and they apologized, but he should have been tossed after the first one.
Nice country scene but it is split into 2 where half the place is country the other half is hip hop...threw my off but it accommodates any style of music.
Loved the atmosphere and karaoke. Great tourist town!
Awesome vibes! Bull riding is entertaining & music is
Dope club, love the esthetics and music would recommend the mechanical bull
A great place to socialize. Gets really crowded so not a whole lot of room to dance!
First time I came to this place with my friends, enjoyed it very much karaoke is a big plus
Fun atmosphere even during the week, first time I have been here. Karaoke was fun, the crowd was fun, and the bull riding was hysterical. Staff was amazing and drinks were top notch especially during happy hour. Hats off to the bartenders.
Careful here, the bar tender will load up your tab if you’re not paying attention. Went in for a last min karaoke song with a friend and ordered 2 Dos Equis. $36.
Karaoke was gun. The waiter knew how to make a good cocktail and she kicked them up strong
Really fun place to hang out. The mechanical bull draws a large crowd. Drinks are reasonably priced.
Had a great time. The staff there was very helpful and very nice. Would definitely recommend going to anyone that likes country music. They also have a mechanical bull that you can ride. A great place with great atmosphere and staff.
Not na bad place for bar crawling.
Large crowd. Enough space. Good music. And they have a mechanical bull. Didnt tase the drinks. Id go again and I recommend if you like hip hop and rap. Dont know if the genre changes based on time of night or day but we went sunday at 12am
Really poor unprofessional service and didn’t let us ride he bull when we were next. It would’ve been more professional if they told us before we waited in line for 30 minutes that they were no longer accepting more people
Love Karaoke here on Thursday Nights!
A great bar to visit in San Diego. The karaoke and mechanical bull make for a great night out.
Just like several other reviewers, I was refused re-entry to the bar even though my belongings were inside. I cannot fathom how management sees thievery as acceptable business practice..
Solid bar with a lot of entertainment options, the stage for karaoke had some of the most talented singer Ive seen at a random bar on a Thursday
The bar area by the mechanical bull can get incredibly packed but the bartenders there are phenomenal and do their best to get the people what they want. The door staff and security were quite rude however.
Only reason to go is watch people on the mechanical bull while drinking booze...
Fun atmosphere, country on one side hip hop on the other. Good place to meet opposite sex. Bull rides, lively entertainment and upstairs/downstairs
Love the atmosphere, and the service.... yet, I was overcharged on my credit card. I had a $104.50 bill, which showed up on my bank statement as $154.50 Im not sure who thinks a $50 tip is okay, but Im getting a hold of the management asap. ...for the record, I always tip cash. So I know this isnt my mistake of poor addition on the cc invoice. Also, why is it that a door bouncer has to puff up when checking ID? I mean, come on already. Be courteous and polite, smile and be nice. Im a big guy, and apparently he thought he needed to show his manliness. My wife noticed too, and rolled her eyes as we went to pay cover. Its this time of bouncer that DOES NOT WELCOME patrons to the bar, and keeps patrons from going back. Your job isnt to look mean and intimidating, but to keep the peace IF and WHEN needed. Grow up, and understand the customers are how your getting paid!
Here is my experience, I was kicked out according to the staff because I was “Harassing” the bartender after just ordering two drinks and leaving a very generous tip. Owning my own business I myself am not bias, racist or unfair in any way but I am calling out this establishment because I feel obligated to let people know that I have been treated very unfairly here. There was no legitimate reason for them to kick me out, all I told the the knee cap looking bartender by the mechanical bull was that I had a friend who use to work there and the bipolar manager with Little man syndrome blew up in my face saying he was going to call the cops for what? Talking to the bartender? I’d love for them to look at video to see how I was “harassing” anyone. Him and all the wana be security guards are all just children. They don’t know how to have good customer service/communication or how to properly handle situations. Hopefully someone intelligent can teach them something useful in life and they can save good business. I will be letting everyone in San Diego know how they treat there guest.
One of my favorite bars haha, I especially enjoy riding the bull and doing karaoke every now and then even though Im terrible at singing haha
Crazy bar! Have to come at least once
What can I say, this is the spot to kick back and have a good time. Def fulfills both people who like a little country and also people who want more pop/hip hop. The bull is def an experience.
A great bar to go into. They have a mixed crowd and also a bullriding ring. Its a fun environment doesnt get to crazy. A great way to spend the night out after a Padres game and continue the entertainment in downtown
Great Environment and good priced drinks. Two dance floors hip-hop R&B and country on the other. Dont forget the mechanical bull!
Fun times. Was trying to help a girl forget about her ex and this place did the trick. Lots of stuff going on, bull rides, good music, and friendly staff made this a fun night.
That bull is SLIPPERY! Totally throws you like a real bull too
Get place. Fun atmosphere. Never a long wait for drinks. Drinks are strong and not too expensive. And nothing better than watching a bunch of people riding the mechanical bull drunk.
This place is pretty cool. They have a mechanical bull which is pretty cool and fun. If you like country music this is a great place to come on the weekends with some buddies.
I had a good time celebrating my birthday. I got to ride the bull and a drink for free
I’m writing one star because I have the option of zero stars isn’t a available. I don’t usually write reviews but the racism I dealt with leaves me with no choice. Initially I went in thinking I was going to have fun until I encountered “Rachel” at the mechanical bull spot. Something felt off when I noticed that she would signal the guy controlling the bull to skip over me. So I asked her if they went by numbers and she said she didn’t know. Then I proceeded to ask her what her name was and not only did she say she doesn’t know where my place was in line after I paid she also didn’t “have a name.” I told my friend with blonde hair and blue eyes to ask her not even a second after I asked her and she said her name was Rachel. When I went across the street I told a random person about the situation and he told me that that it was “usual” for her to behave this way. When he went, Rachel had asked him where he was from and after he said he was white she was nice to him...idk what kind of business they run but I can tell that this is the kind of business that will probably end up on Facebook for racist employees. Only time will tell. The bouncers at the other bar right next door said that people say that bar is racist all the time FYI.
My Favorite Bar. The coolest security team and fun bartenders. Bull conductor is super friendly. Happy hour is 7-8pm. Which is the first hour they are open.
Fun place to drink beer.
With a littlw liquid courage definitley have to try the bull ride!!
They have a bull ride for 7 bucks
My favorite thing is to watch people get kicked off the bull
Country bars weird me out a bit, especially when theyre playing hip-hop, but I always have fun here.
Fun time, good drinks, mechanical bull, double dance floor: country & hip hop.
Love the atmosphere. Dont really ride bulls. The only thing I wish they had is a dance floor. Otherwise, I had a great time.
Dance music (rap, hip hop) on one side and country on the other, good drinks. Great time
Had so much fun by they charged my card when I paid in cash and management said there was nothing they could do
And country music is jamming.Drinks are strong. Women are hot
Fun place, good time.Drinks are small and pricey, but that how bars are.
Double deuces was a great place to go. If you will be in San Diego, for sure stop by this place. Both DJs played good music. The dj in the front room let me charge my phone (He was a life saver, I dont know how we would have called an uber with a dead phone.) I felt safe here as they have their security rotating and making rounds and even being great host. The people at the door were welcoming, the lady in the bathroom was nice, the MC was cool, the women at the bull ride sign up was informative. The man controlling the bullride was AMAZING (THANK YOU for making my experience fun and memorable, you deserve a raise). I will be back to Double Deuce.
Good country bar with good drinks. Fun to ride the bull if you have a minute or your hammered enough to get on.
Two words: mechanical bull. The bartenders drinks are on point. Bull side is where the real fun is. The view upstairs is epic. A great time
We saw the Ronda Rousey fight there & despite the crowd the bar tenders were on top of it. Every time we have been there we have been impressed with the service. Many screens to watch your favorite sports plus who can beat the entertainment of the bucking bull ride!
We have been in this bar the whole night, and while we sang at the karaoke, some girl stole our seats, where our belongings staid here. So when we confronted her she claimed we were speaking rudely, got I confronted so security took her side and we got kicked out. Actions speak louder then words. Doesn’t matter how much money you pay, or how nice you are, if you encounter someone from the gaing your bound to surrender so watch out here at Double Duse!
This is one of my favorite bars in downtown San Diego. I love the decor and the amount of space to move around. I also love getting all my drunk friends to try and ride the bull. I feel like I am back in Texas when I walk into this place. The only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars is the cover. Why do I need to pay cover when I am coming into your establishment to spend money? Makes no sense.
Loved the place. It was not a roudy, throw your beer bottle as depected in the movie. They do have a life-size poster of Patrick Swayze with a caption which says Be Nice they also have a electronic bull which I rode twice. First time was not so good but the second time I went well passed the allotted time for a rider.I would DEFINATELY recommend the Double Deuce to anyone wishing to have a good time
Fun bar. They have a mechanical bull.
Cool place to go with large groups. Dancing, bull riding, its great!
Fun dancing and atmosphere
Pretty fun bar. They have a mechanical bull which is always entertaining.
Always come here when in gas lamp, love that it has a country music side and a more night club style side.
So much fun!!!!!!! AWESOME TIME THERE! On your birthday you ride the bull free.
Rap music in with the mechanical bull, and karaoke in the other room of the bar. Felt like they werent sure what their bar was about.
Fun atmosphere. Friendly bartender.
Great staff and awesome bull riding adventure. I always have a good time when I am here!
Had fun only that the bull was not working
Such a great atmosphere & the bull riding is so entertaining to watch while drinking.
Thursday night karaoke rocks!
Great place not so great karaoke but you got to go there and try the mechanical bull
Cool place, careful of the bartenders though, the girls usually make weak drinks while the guys will hook you up and make em strong as hell.
Went here after a work event and it was AMAZING!!!
Usually pretty packed, but not too long of a wait to get in. The mechanical bull is a great attraction for something unique. I recommend the upstairs bar for a little bit quieter atmosphere.
Love that bull. Fun times. Ill be back soon.
So much fun! Love the mechanical bull
Fun bar! Electronic bull bounces womens butts...before throwing them off! Very fun and funny!
Definitely my favorite bar in SD. Good drinks, good music, friendly staff, and a mechanical bull.
Double Deuce is okay, nothing special unless you are with a group of people who want to ride the mechanical bull which is pretty entertaining. Its just a weird vibe because it is a country themed bar yet half of the bar is blasting Hip Hop and Rap, which I actually like but just not when I am expecting country music lol
Best place to sing karaoke great songs super supportive!
Waiting for valet parking here was a very uncertain situation. Especially under rainy conditions. My friend misplaced her valet ticket on New Years Eve night and luckily there it wasnt a problem.
Came here for the 6th anniversary party. It was a good time but certainly not great. They had gambling, food, mechanical bull and booze... So what went wrong?Bartenders downstairs were super snotty and sloooooow... I understand you have a ton of people but come on, its no busier than a Friday or Saturday. The music was country but it wasnt fun country. The staff seemed to be working and not having g fun doing it. The bf did get on the bull that was fun to watch.Maybe Ill come back but maybe I wont... There are too many other better options to choose from.
I love this place has great vibes and lots of fun people.
Always have a good time here watching people ride the mechanical bull.
In august/september 2009 my two buddies and I were there. Maybe it changed ownership or possibly it was known under another name, not sure, cant remember.Fun crowd, good drinks. We did have to adjust to the rules (no drinking on the stairs f.e.) as we were from Europe. Great experience, think of it often.Best thing though was that there were three simultaneous bachlorette parties. Simone (Half Japanese, Seattle) if you read this, how are you? :P When Im in San Diego in a couple of months ill make sure to stop by again. Great memories!
Awesome country bar with cool people
This review is just from my point of view...your experience may differ.I went to the 6th anniversary party recently and you would think that a FREE party would yield a 5 star review. I mean, come on....free drinks, free food, faux-gambling AND a mechanical bull! Its weird to say, but I wasnt digging it. I dont normally listen to country music either, but thats not why. Ive been to Moonshine Flats down the street and they were bumping those tunes, but it was a surprisingly more comfortable and fun time. I think it had to do with the lighting and the tight quarters. It was hard to find a comfortable place to stand without feeling claustrophobic. The bull is cool and all, but takes up valuable real estate. This was probably the 4th time coming here in the last few years and I never really had a good time....but maybe YOU will.
Great theme, fun people, good times.
