Our Dear friend SGT. BRIAN E. DUNLAP is honored at this museum. Donated a helmet shield to honor him at the museum. 15 years we miss him a lot.

The attendant on duty was extremely friendly and very helpful in answering my questions. Items ranged from the oldest fire truck to mementos from 9/11. Every turn of the corner had something new to see. Old fire extinguishers, assignment boards, fire axes, call boxes, boots and other assorted items makes this a must see location for those who enjoy fire fighting and history. BTW the dry powder seems to describe the one used on the theatre fire in Chicago back in the 1800s which is one of the worst theater tragedies in history. This fire led to the overhaul of laws concerning construction materials, emergency exits, room capacities and such.

One of my favorite Fire Museums to go to. The staff are off duty Firefighters. So their knowledge is excellent. The place is still getting worked on, but it looks nice. I love that they preserved it for history. Highly recommended to visit.

Very center to Little Italy, the museum shows fire trucks since trucks were novelties. It is also used for polling vote station so it makes very easy for locals to vote and also appreciate some fire station history.

So fun. My boyfriend loved it and I learned so much! I thought I would get bored but it was truly very interesting. Nicely set up. Small so that you can easily spend only 30 minutes there. Great attendant. Only 2 dollars a person and you can sit in an old fire engine. My favorite part was looking at old fire extinguishers, the horse and human drawn engine as well as the forest fire wall including a very old and sort of creepy smokey the bear costume.

I went to San Diego for a wedding. The Firehouse Museum was a great venue. It is in Little Italy with lots of restaurant options nearby. There is a lot of interesting paraphernalia and all types of fire vehicles to check out.

Great history of a good Department. A little crowded, but I expect that with all the items they have a a small old station. They were getting ready for a fundraiser and were very welcoming. Always a great stop when in town.

A wonderful venue for a small event. I came for a non-profit volunteer award ceremony for the San Diego chapter of the American Lung Association. At the event they had wonderful catering and had a fun and cozy environment for attendees that included really cool fire department memorabilia as well as historical fire apparatus and fire fighter history information. This would be a great place to visit if you have family that served as a firefighter or if you have little ones that enjoy large red trucks and aspire to be a firefighter someday. Great spot definitely unique and fun! Five stars!

Visited from Colorado with a fellow firefighter and family today. Awesome visit, and very friendly staff member. Well preserved and maintained equipment. The entire visit took about an hour, and for $3 it is well worth it. I recommend taking your time and enjoying each exhibit and learn about the history behind them. Will be back if I am in town again

Great local museum. Free on first Thursday. Inexpensive otherwise. Cool memorabilia and awesome old fire trucks. My son enjoys playing firefighter here with the costumes and climbing on the bone accessible old truck. Only thing is I wish more of the displays were interactive for kids. Great nonetheless.

If you use the San Diego trolley tour show them your sticker or ticket and you get free entry. Located in the heart of San Diegos little Italy the San Diego fire museuym has Lots of very cool San Diego Fire Dept history including photos and information of historical major incidents, numerous restored historic fire apparatus from motorized to horse drawn chemical wagons on display to admire. There is a small gift shop where you can purchase authentic sdfd gear from shirts and hats and other memorabilia. In addition to the museum there is a large banquet hall with kitchen that can be rented out for parties or other occasions.

Charming, cozy, friendly restaurant with heart-warming pastas. I loved that it wasnt pretentious and was just really good at what it was good at. The roasted pepper appetizer was rich and delicious, and the seafood longone (?) and veal piccata were balanced and flavorful.

First Thursday of the month is free. Well preserved artifacts from more than a century. It is a community museum. It is not curated to tell one story. You can explore the exhibits and see a different story every time. I wish there were exhibits talking about historically significant fires in San Diego.
