This place was super fun! Had plenty of photo opportunities in it which was fun. I cant remember the lady working at the front desk but she was awesome! So kind and polite. The place was clean and well laid out. Bathrooms were clean.

Best 5 bucks you will ever spend. This deserves 10 stars!I never knew about this gem until I saw a post of a Heavens Gate cult display on Instagram and thats when I discovered Sheriffs Museum in San Diego. For those who are interested in military or law enforcement history, this is an excellent place to check out. Go see it!I also like give an extra $5 donation just because this is such a special unique and interesting display for generations to enjoy.I highly recommend when in Old Town for kids maybe 10 and up but not a place to bring little ones though.

KINDA COOL ! My wife and I were walking past here on Sunday while heading to a nearby shoe shop. The place was closed ...probably due to the pandemic shutdown so I took a few pics from the sidewalk. The old cop cars looked cool !

I had the pleasure of visiting the Sherrifs museum 2 years ago, so your milage may vary with regard to social distancing guidelines. There are many photo opportunities ro be had here, along with all the history regarding San Diegos battle with crime across the years. This is a fun place to visit especially if you have a child that is interested in this sort of thing, as there are police cars and other props they can climb in (or could, as with current world events this might not be offered any more). There are some more serious sections of the museum where an inquisitive child might get you to answer more pressing life situations. But nothing that would scar a child for sure. (Take my advice with a grain of salt. I dont have kids at the time of writing this review) Either way this is a great stop in old town and you should check it out.

Thank you very much for creating an exhibit on the Heavens Gate Cult. I came all the way from Indiana to see it and it did not disappoint. I also appreciate the friendly staff and the affordable admission price. Job well done on this museum. Highly recommended.

Very cool museum that seems like it gets overlooked as it sits a bit off the main Old Town path. Only $5 entry and a very interesting, fun, and interactive hour.

I have been never been in this museum despite many trips to Old Town. It is worth the $5 for adults. Children under 12 are free. You can take selfies in the jail, booking photo booth, and line-up, and costumes like flight suit, judge gown, and sea rescue, and in the small helicopter. There is a gun room where one display asks you to find the real gun among many toy guns. The real gun is difficult to find. There are interesting displays upstairs including how DNA was found at the crime scene and linked to the criminal and what meth does to a person. If you are in old town you should check it out especially if you have children or teens who might be interested.

A nice place to spend a couple hours, for not much ($5)The staff is all super friendly and willing to answer questions or tell stories (There are a few retired cops there).Theres a lot of things to look at in their collection, with a range of things from past to present - guns, prison items, communication techThey have some interactive things too - go into a jail cell, sit on a police motorcycle or in a small helicopter, and videos of interviews and documentaries. The upstairs has a nice memorial section dedicated to officers stories.

My wife and I are looking forward to visiting the Sheriffs Museum today. The reason is that all I know about Sheriffs office and their duties is very little. Another reason for going is that my Uncle was Sheriff Ed Cunningham of Lake County, Ohio for 28 years and raised his family including two children over the County Jail so I am sure to find more interesting knowledge about this museum. JimEnjoyed and stayed in the museum for over an hour. Found they were very helpful in pointing out interesting exhibits to us and how to be entertained by them. Very educational dont miss it. Jim
