This was our second time going out with San Diego Sailing - and evening more surprising - our second time with Allan (the trips were two years apart!). Once again we were thrilled to have him as our captain. Sailing is his soul and passion, his knowledge of San Diego is inspiring, and he has a wonderfully witty sense of humor. We loved getting to see the sunset blanket downtime SD in gold from our cozy ocean front seats. Awesome job Allan, you are wonderful!

San Diego Sailing Tours is an amazing business and Captain Kyle is a phenomenal captain! Every detail of our sunset sail was perfect. We went on the private sunset sail for a special occasion (proposal!) and were surrounded by beautiful views of the city skyline and a gorgeous sunset. Captain Kyle was great to work within hashing out the details of our sail and was even able to capture our special moment with his camera. Jerry (sailer in training) was great too and provided us with an interesting history lesson as we cruised away from the dock and into the bay. In all, our sail was amazing and exceeded all expectations! We are extremely impressed and will be back for another sail again soon!

Great Tour - it feels more like going out on a friend’s boat for a beer and some laughs. Its very relaxed and a fun way to see the city from a different vantage point. Captain Kyle was fun and informative while at the same time being being safe and very courteous. We appreciated the attention to detail and quality of the light refreshments that were offered. We also noted that the vessel was very clean, well taken care of and you could feel the pride of ownership of the staff. We have sailed with them twice now and they have always provided us with a memorable, photo-filled day of sailing on the bay. We will definitely use them again!

My wife and I wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a private sunset sailing charter for two. Going into the experience, we didnt know what to expect out of the charter, and we were blown away - Captain Allan gave us an unforgettable experience. He was great at reading our interests (i.e., history vs sight-seeing) and a wealth of knowledge about San Diego and sailing. I sailed on November 5 at 4 pm for a sunset sail. There were 5 others booked at the same time. I was shocked how casual the skipper was and felt I was on a boat with at teenager at the helm. We were asked what our drink preferences were but the stock was limited to beer and soda, neither of which I drink. I was offered champagne then it was only provided to a smaller group. I was turned off by lack of attention to detail from the non-wind/no sailing evening and motor driven boat to lack of details with guests... choose other companies for the price you pay, not worth it.

Captain Nick provided my brother, husband, and myself a wonderful sailboat tour of the San Diego bay! He went above and beyond and gave my brother some awesome sailing lessons as my brother was very interested to learn the ropes! Nick was our captain and was not only a confident, experienced captain but a wonderful guide participating in fun conversation and lots of laughs. Captain Kyle & Jerry were such a delight during every step of the way. They were beyond friendly and just overall great guys. We had a party of 6 booked for a private sunset sailing tour, and couldnt have asked for a better experience. We were each given a glass of complimentary wine or beer to start the ride off, and were provided with a number of yummy snacks along the way. Captain Kyle & Jerry made us feel so comfortable and safe and gave us great photo opps :). They even let me steer the ship for a little bit! Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, different sailing experience in San Diego - reasonably priced as well. You will not regret a thing.

Our Captain was Alan and he was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He is an excellent sailor, we felt safe and comfortable at all times. They were also safe about Covid with hand sanitizer and masks required except out on the water. I highly recommend this experience- it was great to see San Diego fro the water!

The staff is soooo laid back and yet professional. We did a 1pm Sunday sail. Really enjoyed it. Had a glass of wine and took some photos. We went around Alcatraz and under Golden Gate Bridge. Would recommend. Also will book the sunset sail in the future.

San Diego Sailing Tours does it right.We did the evening sunset cruise, 6 pm to 8 pm. The captain sailed us around the harbor and pointed out some interesting facts about the area, the navy base, the ships, etc. The captain (sorry by now I’ve forgotten his name) was personable.Oh, this is not 100 people squeezing onto a tour boat. This was two couples on a 30’ (approximately) sail boat. So, it feels like authentic sailing. I do believe they will take up to 6 people total.The ride itself was wonderful. The city looks amazing from the water, and the sunset was beautiful. The city is also beautiful at sunset because of the purple and orange reflections on the cityscape. Once the Sun is down, the skyline comes alive as many nod the building have nighttime lighting.The boat was “vintage,” so yes it’s a little older but clean and comfortable. The bathroom is primitive, but serviceable; I doubt any ladies will give the bathroom more than two stars.The captain provided a few drinks, which was a nice touch. This is also a great way to make some new friends, since with such a small group for two hours you will certainly chat.I suggest you bring a sweatshirt. The captain provides warm blankets, and you will probably want one. The temperature is already cooler on the water during daylight hours, and the temps really drop dramatically once it’s dark.

I have sailed a few times with San Diego sailing tours, Captain Curtis and Captain Allen are absolutely amazing I had so much fun sailing with them on each of my tours. The captains are knowledgeable about local features as well as have obvious sailing experience. I was surprised to learn how many of the captains actually own their own boat and sail full-time even outside of work. Sailing the San Diego sailing tours made me feel Carefree the entire duration of our trips.

Really great experience. Went for an evening sail and had a great time. Captain Terry was phenomenal. Offered really interesting history of San Diego and all of the ships/vessels on the water. Definitely would go again. Price point is well worth the experience. Customer service from owner (Kyle?) was fantastic. Without going into details, they put the needs of the customer first. Captain Kirk provided a wonderful day on the water for us. We were a bit early in the season to see whales but he gave us every opportunity to view other wildlife up close. He customized the trip with options for seating, food, blankets, beverages and conversation. He graciously answered questions about the boat, sailing in general and gave recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. Great day - perfect and personal!

We made a game time decision to take a sunset cruise with San Diego Sailing Tours and Im so glad that we did. Captain Terry was a delight providing the perfect amount of commentary on our tour. He is very knowledgeable about the area. We were offered complimentary beverages, a blanket, and he even took photos for us. The sunset views were spectacular. I understand that San Diego is always sunny and 70....but on the off-chance it isnt, dont be afraid to book a tour! (Just check out my pictures!) We had Capt. Kirk at the helm, who not only had us safe and comfortable but provided alot of laughs. Views of the city are spectacular from the water! This is a must-do for a tourist and locals in San Diego!

On March of 2020, I was kayaking on the harbor when some waves hit and capsized my kayak. My kayak was so full of water that I was unable to turn it over. I was stranded in the harbor. Lucky for me, Kyle the captain of San Diego Sailing Tour was sailing around and spotted me. He asked if I needed help and of course, I was so glad he was there to rescue me. Captain Kyle pulled me on board of his boat and towed my kayak back to shore. If it wasn’t for him, I would have been stranded in the cold harbor water, not knowing how to get out of my situation. I am very grateful he was around to save me. He didn’t hesitate to help me out even though he had a boat of people on this tour boat that day. I am forever grateful for his compassionate act of altruism and could never thank him enough.

Had the boat to the three of my family and Captain Charlie for a brilliant sunset sail. Even saw a couple of dolphins looking for dinner and we followed them for awhile. A lovely evening out, Charlie did a great job for us!

My wife and I enjoyed our little sailing adventure in the harbor. We arrived in the parking lot and quickly spotted our captain (Allan or Allen), who was looking for us and another couple. Super nice guy. It was a small sail-boat, nothing fancy, but wonderful and enjoyable nonetheless; just us and the other couple and the captain, total 5 people. It was a 2-hour ride and the weather was perfect. They, of course, use the engine to get out and then the sail goes up and the engine goes off and the quiet begins; very nice indeed. Lots of interesting things to see in the harbor, seals, sea-lions, other boats, things in the distance. Out captain was very knowledgeable about sailing and sites in the harbor. The other couple that went were very delightful, and we all laughed and had a great time together. Again, Captain Allen was fantastic; we enjoyed our little adventure very much and would recommend it without hesitation, it really exceeded what I was expecting.

We had a truly serene experience. Captain Glenn was easy going and provided excellent service. Sailing was so relaxing, and was the perfect way to spend an evening. We were lucky enough to have the boat to ourselves, and we enjoyed every second.This was a great experience, and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful Sunset Sail! The sky, water and building all light up with color as the sun sets. The boat offers multiple seats to choose from allowing for different views of the scenery. The tour included history of serval old ships and random fun facts about the area. I saw dolphins and watched a seaplane land right beside us during sunset. Captain Terri was a great guide and very hospitable. Overall great experience and highly recommend!!!-Lina

AMAZING TOUR! My boyfriend and I did the 2 hour sunset sail on 10/14 with Captain Allen and had the BEST time! We arrived at the marina 30 minutes early and Allen was kind enough to offer getting us out on the water ahead of schedule. With the sun setting on the early side in mid-October, this was perfect. GREAT costumer service, I was so impressed. We were surprised to find out that it was just the two of us and the captain on our tour! We added on a bucket of beer for $20 dollars when we purchased the sail, and this was a nice added touch. We were able to choose from 6 different brands of beer and Allen also had a variety of chips, crackers, etc. The boat itself was gorgeous. Allen had great knowledge about San Diego and offered great suggestions for things to do. He was so easy to talk to and could tell that he loves his job. He also let us have some alone time while we sat at the front of the boat. It was very romantic. We lucked out with weather and only had to have the engine on while entering/exiting the marina area. So peaceful! I truly don’t have enough good things to say about our experience! We would do this again in a heartbeat- definitely worth the price!

Captain Allan is great! He has a clear passion for what he does (been sailing since he was 11!) and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. We were able to set sail a bit early and get some additional time on the water, and the sunset was breathtaking. Definitely a great experience.

Had the opportunity to enjoy the 2 hour sunset cruise around San Diego bay on 8/28/19. Our Captain, Terry, took great care of us, pointed out all of the historical ships and brought us plenty of beverages. We were lucky enough to see some sailboat racing as well. We (well Terry that is) had to negotiate through the oncoming sailboats getting excitingly close to many of them. I will definitely do this again!!

These people are only good at one thing...Excuses...For cancelling on the day of the sail..For Why they must change your time in slot...even when we reserved a specific time...For why the Mainsail isnt working...For Why theres no lunch that you already pre paid for....For ehy it took 3 weeks to post the promised pics...Do this is why I will not reccomend this Crew...

We did the sunset sailing tour with Captain Terry, today (10/27/19), and it was even better than we expected! He used only the sails almost the whole time (no motor) for a very authentic experience sailing experience. He also went out of his way to make sure the tour started an hour earlier so that we could catch the sunset at this time of year. He was friendly, made us laugh, and most of all made sure we were comfortable! The complementary drinks were such a nice touch. This company is great, and if you can get Captain Terry, even better!

As luck would have it, I was the only one to book the sunset sail one evening and so it was just Terry and I. He let me steer the boat and taught me a few things about sailing. We saw some nuclear submarines and many sea lions, some very up close and personal. It was a great evening - I highly recommend Terry and San Diego Sailing Tours.

I have been wanting to sail again for years. It ended up being the perfect day. Captain Terry was awesome and took the time to find out what we wanted from our time on the bay. My husband surprised me with a private tour to celebrate our anniversary today. I can honestly say nothing could have been better! Our captain, Terry, was so cool. He was knowledgeable and sociable. While we really enjoyed chatting with him he also hung back a bit and let us enjoy our special time alone. Honestly, that’s a tough balance to strike and he did a fantastic job. The only reason we don’t anticipate going back soon is that it really inspires us to take sailing lessons! We hope to see Terry on the water again soon. I can’t recommend this company and our captain enough!

This was amazing - highly recommend. Captain Alan was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Very special experience, seeing all the ships and hearing the stories even if the sunset was blah.A lot of nice little touches, like the glass of wine and snacks.And get the sandwiches! Captain Terry was awesome. We really wanted to sail, but there wasn’t much wind. He found the wind for us!! My sister wanted to sail the boat, he let her sail as much as she wanted. He was very good at instructing her. While still making the other two of us feel included and taken care of. Would do it again with captain Terry!!!!

Captain Zach was excellent! We did the 4-hr private tour with our two kids under 4. He was both knowledgeable and attentive, but also gave us our space to enjoy family time. The boat is beautiful and comfortable. We saw sea lions, dolphins, tons of historic boats and submarines, as well as sights along the bay. Such a fun day!

Captain Terry was amazing! We had the best time sailing around the harbor and learning about the boats around us. Weve been looking and to getting one of our own and the future and Captain Terry had tons of good advice and was so kind and sharing everything with us. We went on a 4 hour lunchtime sail and had a great time. Charlie was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, the naval vessels we saw, and the area in general. More importantly he was fantastic with our kids and went out of his way to accommodate what they wanted to see and do.

We had the best time to end our first week in 4 years kid free! We chose a sunset sail for 2, supervised by Captain Kirk - not a joke, though plenty were made. He was exactly our speed: laid back, funny, very knowledgeable - we were immediately both at ease with his skill and comfortable with our company. We didnt elect the perfect day weather considered, but that went virtually unnoticed. We are now in love with sailing and will be referring plenty of local friends and family his way!

Took the sunset cruise with Alan who turned out to be very informative but not a lot of personality. Enjoyed the ride but it was a 2 hour slow “motorized” trip across the harbor on a sailboat —- there was no “sailing”. Took friends and it was a very nice evening but not worth the money.

Sailing is awesome and Kirk the captain and Richard were phenomenal. We had a family packed boat with kids and adults. Both men were full of information about our surrounding, sailing and even let us take the helm for a little bit. The memories made it worth every penny.

We had a great private sunset sail tonight with Captain Kirk! Kirk was so funny, knowledgeable, personable and accommodating! My husband and I brought our almost 2 year old daughter with us, my parents and my aunt. Kirk had a life vest that fit my daughter perfectly. He even gave my daughter and me a turn at the helm! The boat was very beautiful as were the views! He did two loops around the sea lions snoozing on the bait dock so we all could get a closer look at the new sea lion pups! It was a cold night but we managed to stay warm and happy with blankets, layers and wine! Can’t recommend this enough! Great evening! Thank you Kirk, you rock!

Had an excellent time with Captain Al sailing San Diego Bay. Very relaxing tour that was made better by Captain Al sharing his knowledge of the Bay and San Diego area. I would highly recommend one of the sailing tours for a first time visitor or even someone that is somewhat familiar with San Diego such as myself. I was stationed in San Diego for a couple years and learned more about the bay in the two hours we sailed with Captain Al than I had learned in the two years I was stationed there. My family and I went on a two hour bay cruise, but there are plenty of options to choose from. This was a relaxing, worry and hassle free time.

Had a great sail today with Captain Kirk We had the boat all to ourselves. He was a fantastic guide and had to manage the boat through some rough sailing too. Would recommend this company for great service and an amazing afternoon of sailing Angela and Pavel

Cant say enough good things about these guys. Capital Kirk (no relation to Star Trek) was fun, professional, and knowledgable. The guy made a day without wind totally enjoyable. The owner, Kyle, ended up joining us on the tour, and together with Kirk, it was easy to see why San Diego Sailing consistently gets 5 star reviews. Thanks again guys for the great time.

My family and I had a great 4 hour tour with Capt Allen. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable! We saw harbor seals, dolphins and a whale! Great experience! The ship was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Lunch was simple but delicious and snacks and drinks were abundant.

Captain Kirk is awesome! He provided us with a perfect first time experience sailing. The staff was so kind and friendly. Would remember to all my friends and family!
