I recently joined FREEDOM boat club to escape my business being locked down and almost instantly regret it. My FIRST reservation was yesterday and I couldnt get the boat I wanted so I settled. However I was greeted OUTSIDE ON THE DOCK by an employee with a HANDKERCHIEF on her face DEMANDING I WEAR A MASK ON THE DOCK. NEEDLES TO SAY I WAS TURNED AWAY AND REFUSED A BOAT....THIS IS NOT FREEDOM IN ANY SENSE OF THE WORD. AND CERTAINLY NOT WHEN IM PAYING FOR IT.
Hey, Bryan. Captian Joe (and all crew) are awesome. They are some of the most responsive people and I have been continuously blown away by their gratitude and customer service. Captian Joe has responded to ALL my communication within 5-10 minutes. Your long, but very lackluster soliloquy is not a review Bryan. What you regurgitated, sir, was just a sloppy mess of your subjective recollection of events (which was clearly biased). In my roughly 1-week of membership, I have had multiple last minute requests and they have accommodated each time. For those who can see beyond that poor review left by Brian - this is a club. The crew at FBC (and the owners) are not your personal assistants. They do not cater to your every need, because this isn’t about you. This is about the club and everybody within the the club. Captian Joe honestly has more pressing things to worry about then you crying about having to wait. Things like purchasing more boats, trying to grow the club, and things that serve the members of the club to make our experience better. Not to mention, I feel like that previous review pertaining to Captian Joe and crew is blown out of proportion. To anyone else, FBC is a fantastic place and you’ll love it. The dock staff, literally run around all day and bust their tail. If a crew member is not available they will call, text, or email you very quickly. If you’re going to be super needy, whine, or complain because “your” needs are not met, then you should avoid a social club. If you want to join an amazing club with amazing members and an environment where both the owners (and crew) are easily accessible on a daily basis...then FBC is for you.
Mr Hasbrouck. I’m contacting you about my family’s experience yesterday with FBC and Captain Joe. We scheduled an appointment at 2pm and arrived 10 minutes early. I made Captain Joe aware of our arrival by texting. When he didn’t show up I walked into your office and had difficulty getting anyone attention until I walked all the way in and had to interrupt some casual conversation between a few employees including Joe. He said he was running late and would join us in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later nothing and when I asked another staff member to let him know we were still waiting, they said he would be an additional 15-20 minutes. So we left. Then Joe comes walking out to parking lot as we are getting in the car and provides some incoherent story about not being able to leave a bank transaction and then shoved a brochure in my hands and says to let him know if we change our mind. Then he texts me and I call him back which lead to more incoherent excuses and I’m quite sure a few lies. My family couldn’t have felt less well treated by Joe. We were extremely excited about learning about your service and to say our experience was a disappointment is an understatement. Furthermore our trust of your company is gone and while I almost never make online reviews, I feel compelled to let people know about Captain Joe. Hopefully he doesn’t reflect the rest of your company but I can’t imagine this is the first complaint about him.
All they care about is their money they don’t care about the club members
While I was very happy with the club at the start, the maintenance issuesruined it for me. I left after less than a year.Out of my 10-12 outings, 5 times I had problems that made the fishingsubpar. The biggest issue was a trip I planned that my brother andhis sons planned with me for weeks. When we finally got on the boatto go offshore, the Simrad GPS/Fishfinder unit was down. Wetried with the dock crew and calls to their guru to get it to work, butafter almost an hour and a half, no luck. They offered me a smaller center console, but with 5 of us, it would havebeen difficult.I had 2 bait pumps go out within 3 hours of getting bait, so couldnt fishfor the YFT boils. One Cobia had the larger bait tank in-op, and the smallertank held a quarter scoop. One KeyWest didnt have a working VHF, soI didnt go offshore.I never got a comp or an adjustment on my fees to make it up.If its your boat, youll work all night to fix these issues, butFBC didnt.
Best Club you could ever join if you live in the San Diego area and like being out on the water! About 10 times more convenient than owning a boat and WAY less expensive! Plus you have access to every boat you could ever imagine for less cost than owning just one boat. So glad I signed up for this club, its a no-brainer.
Absolutely fantastic weekend with the family on the boat. The Freedom boat club is awesome and they were so helpful. Everything is taken care of for you and you are free to enjoy the day with your family.Special Mention to DrewI want to make a special mention of Drew, one of the team members at Freedom Boat Club. He was excellent. He helped us with our gear and with getting the boat out. He is a top quality guy and another shining star for the Freedom Boat Club. Thank you Drew!Barry Levine
Best decision. Love boating and walking away. No more cleaning boats late at night. Easy way to boat.
This has got to be the best boat club in the U.S. Took a boat out of Huntington Beach yesterday. Went about 8 miles up the coast and checked out the Queen Mary, then tied up and hung around town. Another great day with the Freedom Boat Club. Those belonging to FBC San Diego should check out FBC Huntington Beach for a day.
Best boat cub going. Incredible boats & staff!!!
