Who knew that we could truly engage in an African Safari experience right here in Texas. Having been to an original Kenyan safari while visiting in Nairobi, I can confirm that the experience we had at Wildlife Ranch was equally awesome. Not at all like a Zoo experience. The best part for us was when the animals came up to our vehicles and we were able to feed them straight out if our hands!! Be careful though, the naughty Ostriches will stick their heads in! What a great experience for the whole family!

Great for people who are anti-zoo. More safari where you can feed the animals and see them roaming in a much more humane way. I enjoyed it. There is a small Cafe with burgers and sandwiches, but we did not eat there. You can also drive through the park more than once. There is a very small area to walk and view a few animals in more of a zoo setting.

This was much better than we expected. We had an absolute blast. We arrived early with a bit of light rain. The animals werent too active, but by the end of the entire route they began moving around much more. We made 2 laps.We enjoyed the ostriches as they were the boldest animals. They put their heads and long necks into our vehicle! We saw many many different wildlife; Bison, giraffes, rhino, zebra, gazelle, etc etc.The entire visit took approximately 3.5 hours. We loved it & recommend it. Two parents, a 14 year old daughter and a 5 year old daughter.

Visited today and enjoyed it just as much as precious times. Some reviews say they couldn’t feed animals, but as of today 10/18/20, we did get a chance to feed them. Food was provided for $3 a bag to feed animals, price is reasonable and worth it. Loved feeding the animals, and perfect weather. Good family time, something that needs to be experienced. My advice go early, less people. Staff was friendly, restrooms were clean. definitely will be returning. Good place to pass family time especially during this time of social distancing.

Took the kids, but really it was for the kid in me! Seeing so many animals up close, some within touching distance if we dared, we didnt dare. Got to feed them all as well. My kiddos favorite was the giraffes! They have the buildings and walk about area open, they do require masks to be worn if youre in those areas. Very neat experience. Plan on going back when the youngest kid is older and can enjoy it more.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here! This was our 2nd visit and they have expanded the park tremendously since our 1st visit. The staff was very welcoming, friendly & helpful. The park was clean (except for the Womens facilities in the Sweet Treats area) & the wildlife was very well kept. The Gift Shop was also great! The only things that I would change is the time frame in which we went & the cleanliness of the facilities. Both times we went after Noon & in the TX heat. I would suggest going early morning (park opening) & during more subtle weather (Fall or Spring). The animals were just so tired, hot & full by the time we arrived that most animals did not want to engage in human contact, as the animals usually eat right out of your hand. I highly suggest taking the family for a visit!

Wonderful place! I love all the animals from all over the world. We were unable to feed the animals right now due to COVID, but still a great time! A long winding road through the different world regions with animals from each region in that section. Plus a great stopping point mid trip for bathrooms and an up close view to a giraffe area. Then you continue on through. At the end, you can get out of the car, and walk through the walk about area with more animals to see up close. There is a gift shop and a restaurant too for you to enjoy before heading out. I highly recommend it! We had a fantastic time!

This place is wonderful! It was a great experience to see the animals coming right up to the car. At the mid-way point, you can park for a restroom break and some ice cream, and then walk to the giraffe enclosure. The giraffes are majestic!!They have every manner of deer and antelope, but youll get a kick out of the zebras and the rhinoceros. At the end of the drive, youll go through a passage where the ostriches are strutting their stuff and approach to your car practically demanding food.Pro tip: save food for the ostriches at the end!Note: They WILL stick their heads into your car. So, if that kind of thing freaks you out, raise your windows. The Walkabout is cute, but its incredibly small. Though we loved the lemurs and the tiny monkeys, we were a little disappointed at how small it was.I would have given it 5 stars, but its pretty pricey and the Walkabout was way too small to be called an attraction. Also, the gift shop is crazy expensive. $30 for shirts that will fade after a few washes is insane.Still, this was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone that has a family, especially if the kids love animals.

Although there is much space to roam I cannot even imagine how stressful so many cars are for the animals. Kids were teasing them and throwing things at them and there was no one around to enforce the rules not to. Huge lines of cars constantly going through and it looked as though there was little to no enrichment for the animals aside from the children harassing them. If you want to support trustworthy wildlife places I suggest going elsewhere.

This is the perfect socially distanced activity to do with your family. Though you cannot feed the animals currently, we saw quite a few animals out in the early afternoon. Driving through the ranch makes you feel as if youve been transported to an African savanna. The cost of entry is definitely a point of contention, we had 3 cars with a total of 11 people and about half of our party didnt feel like it was worth the cost of entry. Regardless, a unique chance to encounter some African Wildlife in Texas.

Had so much fun coming here! You can’t feed the animals currently but the emus might come up really close to your car and peck your windows gently for attention. It took about 1.5 hour to circle the place at a 5mph speed. Saw lots of animals. Coming early is a must so it’s not too hot and they are out eating. You can circle around more than once if you want to. At the end is a gift store and a walk through area where you can see lemurs and monkeys; masks are required in the walking area. There’s restrooms and a grill place to eat there as well. Military and first responder discounts are available. Great for family and kids! (No dogs including service animals)

Lower the expectation and this is quite a nice wildlife safari / zoo. I will admit this is probably not a place to come if you are a adult because the animals are the basic antelope, rhino, zebras. Ostriches, and etc. I saw a lot of car tailgating or rushing by and later on probably come on Google to complain that it boring and not enough animals (maybe if you werent in a rush you will see them). While I wasnt so keen (I am in my 30s and pretty jaded), my kids (6 and 3 years old) absolutely loved the experience. I am pretty sure the whole safari heard my little screaming her head off. So my 5 star review is based on just how my kid enjoyed it and they enjoyed it a lot. So great for little people.

It generally takes an hour to an hour and a half to drive through once. Visitors are welcome to travel through the Wildlife Ranch as many times as they would like during their visit. The only exception is visitors cannot leave and then come back later that day. The Walk-A-Bout area is included. While visiting times vary from visitor to visitor, we safely suggest at least five hours, which also allows for lunch at the Safari Camp Grill. The animals are not vicious. However, the animals are still “wild.” Remember, you enter the park at your own risk. They know every vehicle gets a free container of feed, and they are not bashful in looking for it.

Its ok. I know that covid changes things. I came with my family a few years ago. Back then you paid per person but each person got small bags to feed the animals which made the full experience fun. This time you pay full price but dont get to feed the animals. I understand that the current circumstances have changed at the moment but I feel it would be fair to give a discount on prices since we dont get to feed the animals. Feeding the animals was what enticed to approach visitors and be more visible. In this visit we really didnt get to see many of the animals. And of the animal that we did get to see it was at a far distance and to very photo genetic. My recommendation is unless they offer a discount price I would wait until they let you feed the animals again if you really want to see the animals up close.

I am glad they were concerned about the animals, but you would think they would at least discount their prices, which they did not.Now I see they advise customers on their website what to expect with adjustments they’ve made, so that’s appreciated. I just chuck it up to bad luck on my end. Also, I am sure businesses are just as confused as everyone else with all this going on. B) Give yourselves plenty of time. They recently expanded part of the park that adds and extra half hour but it is totally worth it. You can see lots of emus, ostriches, and giraffes. If you get to this section before noon the giraffes will be closer to you for photos. Also, there is a picnic place right after the giraffe section with good ice cream, fudge, and clean bathrooms. You can bring your own food and eat in the covered area. The petting zoo at the end is alright. The only cool things worth are seeing are petting the goats. Also, there is a giraffe enclosure behind the cafe, dont miss that because the giraffes are very close and you can take great photos with them. Dont forget to go on to the San Antonio tourism website and under deals save the $3 off/ticket coupon in their coupon book you can download as a PDF. Enjoy!

I hate normal zoos, but this place is amazing. Visited a decade ago and its still just as good. Animals are happy (unlike zoos/cages) and well taken care of. Able to roam/run almost as if they were wild. Not clamoring for food from us, so they arent starved for tourist handouts. The entire place is extremely clean.Zoos normally depress me, the sadness in the animals eyes from captivity is overwhelming for me. That is not the case here. The giraffes, maybe, but they at least seemed content, not sad.In short, any age will enjoy and not at the expense of the animals.

This is a complete scam, my family of 4 spent about $120 (without the $3 food bags) and the whole place barely had any animals. It was boring and definitely wasn’t worth the money at all, some old man gave me his bag of leftover food for the animals and we didn’t even use the whole thing either because the animals were so far away/there was barely any. I do not recommend going to this place AT ALL until they lower the prices by A LOT or improve the whole thing. I wish I spent this amount of money elsewhere.

This was our third time traveling from Alaska to the San Antonio area, and third time visiting the Wildllife ranch. It is always a great family activity, and my animal obsessed daughter has loved it since she was 2. We were able to go down one of the roads that had been previously closed on our two previous trips. It was wonderful to see more animals that we hadnt seen before. We will be back again.
