The visit was wonderful. The property was beautiful the house was amazing. Good company talk and good walk. Will return again soon. I remember this being midget mansion and the fat house. When I was younger thats all
I truly believe this is one of San Antonios best kept secrets when it comes to walking/running trails and parks. Ideal spot to meditate and take in the beauty of nature. There is a fairly small trail that wraps around a quaint manmade lake complete with friendly roaming ducks. Three laps around the trail is a little less than a mile. There is a tiny labyrinth for spiritual centering. An awe-inspiring ornate Korean-style gazebo structure makes for the perfect photo op. The estate also has an eatery, but I have yet to visit it. There are picnic tables scattered throughout. Never a crowd. Lush grounds are very well maintained. Just a very cool place tucked away just off Callaghan and I-10. I am a frequent visitor.
I went here to just relax & draw for a bit. I cant believe such a gem was right in my back yard all this time & I had *no clue*!! as far as inspiration goes, this place does not disappoint! it is very picturesque & was nice & quiet when I was there. one word of advice: if you go during the warmer months- TAKE BUG SPRAY!! other than that, I had no complaints, and the mosquitoes arent really their fault, so.
Since I’m very new to the area, I was looking for places local to enjoy and take some hikes. Since the pandemic, I’ve only been walking in my area on pavement. This place was peaceful and beautiful. Love the ducksAnd various critters. The trees were awesome and the pagoda/temple was incredibly beautiful. I loved it that they were picnic tables and a family could spend the day there. Most of all I enjoy seeing children with their parents enjoying such an incredibly beautiful park.
Gorgeous place to rest, relax, have a picnic, walk your dog, or get some exercise. I wouldnt recommend it for bike riding, though. Its on the smaller side and its probably best that you go to a larger place to be able to bike comfortably and freely.
Such a nice Hidden in town GETAWAY. See if you can find it. Here are some pictures. You will LOVE it. Its so relaxing to take a Stroll in the Shade or Sun and see Ducks, Turtles and HEAR Birds singing. Great place for a PICNIC. It looks like they are Buildng Restrooms by the water. You can 1st try DRIVING THRU if you want to check it out. Hope you FIND it.
It was nice to visit the Denman Estate Park again since it has been a while. We first discovered this secret spot about 9 years ago, lots of beautiful family memories. We were a bit disappointed as the park not longer looks like it did in its earlier days. The water, sadly, had a lot of trash in it and it seems as they changed the geography of it too. Definitely not as much as water as it once had. Nevertheless, this is still a beautiful place to visit specially if you have never been here before. Be nice to our parks everyone!
Great hidden place that’s quiet. Nice .5 mile trail with beautiful structures and places to sit and relax if you’re looking to get out of the house.
This Park is Very hidden and located in a Residential neighborhood so most people might not know about if only by word of mouth. Its very shaded and has a trail to walk on or you can go biking. You can walk your dogs too, Ive been here twice already. I must say a lot of people who visit do so to take photos, due to a gorgeous background. A VALID PHOTOGRAPHY PERMIT IS REQUIRED but people DO NOT LISTEN or RESPECT it and still do it. As a matter of fact, one family there was overheard saying Oh No I came here because everywhere else you need a permit and Im not going to pay I did see bathrooms available but I dont recall seeing water fountains. One thing I love about this Park is the Labyrinth Walk thats available to use during a New or Full Moon. I saw some people doing yoga too, it offers a lot of trees with shade. It also has a man made pond/lake. There are many turtles and ducks and cypress knee trees too. The Gwangju Pavilion, a gift from South Korea to the people of San Antonio, in the form of a Korean pavilion similar in design to the Gwangju Democracy Bell, in Gwangju South Korea. The pavilion (which reflects the traditional Korean methods of construction) was designed to facilitate business and cultural friendships between the two cities of Gwangju, South Korea and San Antonio, TX, USA. The two cities are sister cities. Even though there are signs with a chain blocking access onto the Pavilion people DO NOT RESPECT it and STILL get on it. On the day I visited there was a graduate with a Photographer on it. Its one thing to disregard the rules but then to have someone hog up the whole Pavilion not allowing proper photos is annoying. One thing I like about this park is it doesnt get overly crowded and it has many areas for one to sit and enjoy the scenery. I cant wait to go back again, Id recommend it to anyone. Please be sure to take water with you and maybe some towels to cool down.
Its a lovely little park. Very well maintained, pretty quiet and pet friendly. Its really great for walking with your pets, friends or family.
This is my favorite place ever!!! Theyve updated it and its even more lovely! I love walking here or stopping to have a picnic or watch the ducks. Its always so beautiful! Definitely worth a visit! Very scenic and shaded and peaceful!
A beautiful park filled with serene views and lovely pathways. Youll usually find people pacing themselves or taking pictures for their family because of the beautiful and luscious trees and lake filled with nature. The Gwangju Pavilion, a gift from our sister city of Gwangju, South Korea, further facilitates the feeling of peace and tranquility of the park.
Lovely, peaceful, calm place in the middle of the crowds.Long and short trail for morning and evening walks. It’s also cool during the daytime.Great location for family picnic
Beautiful park! I never knew this existed until doing a search of parks in the area last week. This would be a wonderful place to have a picnic or wedding photos taken.
Peaceful and beautiful small park to walk your dog, stroll your baby or have a picnic! The historic house is beautiful and a sight to see. The exquisitely crafted replicas of Asian structures are so colorful and breathtaking overlooking a pond
It is a great park to get a nice walk in and help ease the stress of city life. There is even deer that roam peacefully.
I love this place! Its a great place to go for a walk or have a cute picnic. Great scenery for Photography Enthusiasts.
Amazing hidden gem! The energy there is just peaceful and friendly. Truly, never had so many nature lovers offer simple hellos. Took me by surprise. Saw someone who pitched a hammock between two trees just relaxing and enjoying a book. Love this place!
Nature and peace. Thats what this place is for me. A true piece of paradise.
This is one of my favorite parks to just chill and get away from the world. There is a nice walking track that is very peaceful and it helps to get the mind right. This is a hidden park in a very unexpected area of town.
Very unique. Small park, but set up well to get a good workout walking it. Small lake drained cleaned and repaired. Has turtles and ducks. No fishing, swimming, or hunting. Has an oriental flair with a donation of a stage of sorts from Sas sister city in Japan.
Weve loved going to this place for years now. Its really quite lovely and shows history from our city
Its a cute serene little park in the neighborhood, good for an afternoon stroll. Its mainly a loop about a 0.5 mile long that you can do as many times as you like. Theres a pond with some ducks as well. Usually not too crowded.
Denman Estate Park is a great family place to enjoy and take a small hike. The park is peaceful and beautiful. The trees are impressive, and the temple is gorgeous. There are picnic tables where families can spend the day. #SamxTravels #SamxTravel
Very nice park with paved walking paths, a pond with ducks/turtles, and a maze garden. The only downside is the lack of water fountains and the trash that people seem to leave behind often in certain areas.
Very quiet, well maintained grounds are peaceful and secluded. Features a lovely pond and lots of ducks to feed with the kids.
Denman Estate Park was very beautiful and peaceful. Also the many different types of wildlife was very enjoyable to see. The park was very quiet and peaceful. The park is well cared for which makes it a really nice place to visit.
Wish they would fix their website and correct times...we drove hours to get here only to find out gates are closed. Really disappointed! This place sucks
Beautiful hidden place in Medical Center. I love the oaks and small pond for a wonderful stroll. The pavilion is beautiful as well.
Beautiful hidden park near medical center. Lots of shade, ducks, turtles, nice people. Love coming here when I get a chance and just relaxing.
A small but nice place to escape the hustle and bustle of city without leaving it.
Nice park beautiful landscape, ducks, nice walking trail beautiful park all around
Beautiful location for outdoor pictures. Wedding, graduation etc.
Nice little park nestled away in the medical center. Short, shaded paths to walk, and a shaded picnic area. Peaceful, with some interesting areas, such as the gazebo and the pond, but not a place youd want to go if youre looking for solitude.
This Gorgeous Park in San Antonio not to fat from IH10/Loop 410 is the home of FEAST homeschool. We love the green gardens, the walking paths and the wildlife.
This park is secluded within a neighborhood so you may have driven passed it many times. Such a gorgeous and peaceful park. Not many people gather here. Came here to take senior portraits because of the beauty and wonderful layout of the park. If you have time, stop by Minanos and grab a pastry and then venture into this park to enjoy the scenery.
Treasure right in our backyard. Surrounded by oak trees, tons of shade, wide path. No cost to enjoy beautiful scenery, ducks, birdies & deer. Parking. ADA. Families welcome
This is a great place to take your dogs for a walk or let your kids play. It is very shaded in play areas and most of the walkways are paved in some manner. This park does host weddings so the park may be reserved or crowded due to a wedding. The pond itself could really use some sort of agitation, a fountain or other source of moving water. The water looks moldy and unkept. There is some Asian inspired architecture on the back part of the park that is nice for pictures. I have not been to the park when the Sun is setting or when it is dark, but a lot of the trees have light fixtures attached to them which I assume means most of the park is lit up once the Sun is down.
Best place ever to chill, peaceful, calming, walkable. Hidden. Beautiful. Loved it
Beautiful little hidden park with a trail that circles the water. Almost felt like I was out in the countryside somewhere instead of the center of the city in San Antonio. I viisted the park near dusk and the sunset was amazing!!
Grounds artistically sculptured. Running trail very diverse. Comfortable pond with adjacent Chinese Pagoda. Ducks swimming in pond very picturesque. A nice, quiet atmosphere throughout the Park instills a sense of security. You dont want to go home it is so beautiful and soothing.
Beautiful peaceful and serene. You will enjoy the park.
This is one of those places to find your zen and chillax for a little while. It’s a nice place for a quiet stroll or a picnic and it doesnt get crowded. There’s about half a mile of paved walking paths that are shaded very well. There’s a cool little pond surrounded by tall elm trees and a few resident ducks, and don’t forget to check out the Korean pagoda that everyone talks about. The park sports a half dozen or so picnic tables, but no bbq grills. No playground and no bathrooms. The house is not open for tours, it’s used as a retreat center for the University of the Incarnate Word. The grounds are well kept and if you pay close attention, you might spot a deer or two on the very outer edges of the park.Really, get out there and experience this one, you won’t regret it.
We took pics here and they turned out great! Perfect for a great outdoor look. The pics show a few fave spots! These are non edited because the photographer doesnt know how to edit.
Absolutely relaxing & it had plenty of shady areas for Picnics.... Tip: Theres a gas station nearby with clean restrooms & cold drinks.
Love this place....Really enjoy the walking trail ...and the beautiful duck pond. ....Its really nice to be able to bring your dogs as well, and enjoy family time having a picnic ♡
Easy walking trail. Very pretty. Bathrooms were unusable. Gross.
Wonderful place for a picnic. Family friendly
The Denman Estate Park is an oasis of oak trees and shady walking paths hidden among the lush neighborhoods near the San Antonio Medical Center. A quiet refuge from the heavy traffic and clutter of commercial development that is eating away the charm and beauty of San Antones old world mystique. The park has secluded paved walking trails, free parking and wide rolling meadows. A pagoda looks out over a pond and the abandoned mansion conjures up an elegant past of opulent parties and quiet winter evenings. Great place for long walks with a friend or a dog. San Antonio desperately needs more public green spaces where people can get away from the maniacs on the roads.
I was able to workout on the trails and enjoy the ambiance of the park. It was a very peaceful workout and I enjoy coming back here again and again.
Very peaceful place and lovely. A great place to have a picnic date.
Very pretty and relaxing park. Perfect for a casual stroll.
Great place to relax and have a picnic.. a lot of shade to take a walk and explore..
Very nice place. well maintained, short trails, wildlife and a pond.
Its nice. No fishing, just walking. Ducks and turtles in the water.
Its a beautiful park with a walk/run trail, Korean monument to look at and a pond but there really isnt anything in the park. No restrooms and like 1 park bench. Which makes it unenjoyable if youre a single parent with a 3yr old trying to enjoy an ice cream cone.
Lot of shade definitely a nice little place to take a little stroll.
Good small hidden park in San Antonio with some Korean structures built by our sister city there. Great for a picnic or perhaps short walk with a friend.
Quiet and serene. Nice spot for walking or a quick picnic. No public restrooms. Small lake. Very scenic. With a out of place looking korean temple. Two maybe three different walking trails. Very enjoyable.
Nice and quiet if a bit out of the way. Construction has been completed and water is back in the lake with a new peninsula for photos or picnicking.
Nice for sitting and enjoying the atmosphere
I love this little park. Its excellent for shady summer walking/running. It has no playgrounds so if youre hoping for something like that unfortunately thats not here. Its very serene and peaceful the times Ive been and doesnt feel like its right a few streets away from a very bustling area of town.
Nice scenery. Good upkeep, nice and clean. Enjoyable experience.
Very small park, but it is full of history. It is gorgeous during the late fall
Beautiful place to relax away from the busy hustle and bustle. Nice small trail to run or take your dog for a stroll.
One of our Favorite places to do a photo shoot at and to also just enjoy the day.We have been coming here for years.
Took pictures here and they turned out fantastic!!
Love this park. Good little trail. Very safe. Definitely a cute spot for a picnic!
Calm, peaceful estate park. With unique structures.
One of my favorite parks to go to
Beautiful park. Lots of shade.
Though not huge, it allowed me to relax and zone out from the myriad things of the outside worls. If even for an hour or so. The walking trail allowed for different levels of difficulty and if you go in a different direction, can actually make one of the trails more difficult, as you wil be going mostly uphill. Now, yes the pond was a bit sludgy, but in areas only, not all over. You could see turtles, little fish, and families of ducks enjoying their time here also. Picnic tables and trash cans are available, but I didnt see any public restrooms. Place isnt too far from a gas station or places to throw a munch, Rays Pizzeria is right on Fredericksburg, just saying lol.In the end good place.
It was so peaceful an awesome escape. For awhile
Nice area for a brisk walk. Enjoy feeding the birds or spotting deer.
I had a lot of great moments with my lost love. Still rebuilding the lake but the moon labyrinth is what I personally came here for. Time to let things go. Always signs of life. Be careful where you step.
A beautiful Victorian venue for any event. Paved and unpaved walk to enjoy the relaxing outdoors. Includes a pond with turtles and ducks. Plenty of shade trees and grass to enjoy a picnic!
Im in love with this Beautiful, peaceful piece of Heaven. I wish I would have found Denmans park before, with its serene and beautiful landscape which gives you a true feeling of nature. You will want to visit again. I would love if there was some kind of historical tour for visitors. I wish to one day host a party in the Estate. You will fall in love too.
Nice, clean, quite park with a beautiful pond and Pagoda
This place is exactly what you need when youre stressed and need peace and quiet and a place to walk. Does not have a restroom so go somewhere else before you decide to visit.
Great place to come walk, think and be one with nature.
Beautiful park with a unique structure you wont find anywhere else
Great place for a walk just needs a little cleaning.
Nice and quiet, though it does get crowded
IT was a nice quiet park to go . Instead of sitting in traffic for an hour. I had four kids under the age of 11. Not a park for children that young because they were expecting a playground and there was none. that was a negative about this park.
Great family park for those who love the outdoors!!!
Beautiful hidden park. There are two paved trails to walk around. There is a nice pond with turtles and ducks. Its very peaceful. Very clean. Nice and shaded. I cant wait to go back.
Great landscaping, especially now the pond is filled up again. Also great for Pokemon Go!
Peaceful and serene atmosphere to enjoy nature and relax. Trail for walking and taking in the scenery. Picnic friendly, with tables, trash and recycling bins available.
Great place
This place is more beautiful than anything I ever would have expected in this area of town. Totally gorgeous!
Beautiful place for walks, pictures, or just hanging out.
This is a park with a lot of pretty spots, not to mention the very beautiful pavilion that our sister-city in Korea gifted us! Very gorgeous, hand crafted, intricate designs all over. Definitely a breath taking aspect of the park. The only downside of the park that takes away the beauty from the rest of the park is the bits of piping they have to lay around (I assume they have to pump water into the lake? Im not quite sure), not a huge downside, and a pretty understandable function if you ask me.Still a must see niche park here in San Antonio!
Its a beautiful little gem tucked away in between all the hustle & bustle of the city. Its a calm & serene place.
Amazingly Peaceful! The ducks are so cute and friendly! The mansion on the property is gorgeous. Its smack dab in the middle of town but I swear once you begin walking around and you get near the water you forget where you are! I took Family Photos here and its now one of my favorite places!Photo Credit: Kaylin Jay Photography
Great ! The deer family is beautiful.
Our dog has been coming here since he was a pup. The trails on the estate are very shaded and great for those hot Texas days. The property is absolutley beautiful and this place is great for dog owners socializing their pups as joggers will typically stop to greet your little one.
Really like this place! Quiet and peaceful, plus you can have a picnic here and enjoy a meal by yourself, or with the family.
This place is amazing. It is so nice to have a hidden green space with such beautiful architecture. It is a nice place to bring the family for a picnic lunch, or a soon to be bride for photos.
