Beautiful trail. A total of a 2 mile hike into and out of the trail. Scenic views with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy your surroundings .
I retired to San Antonio six months ago. But since the pandemic, I’ve only walked in my neighborhood and was getting a little bit frustrated walking the payment in my area. I found out about this park on the local news station A few days ago. I knew that the weather was going to get warm I decided to go early yesterday morning. Much to my surprise, it was most delightful to take a walk in the morning, had some sun, yet was shaded by the beautiful trees. I took the whole loopAnd truly enjoyed it.Loved it loved it loved it
A great place to have a walk. Not too far or hard. Saw a coral snake even at the entrance of the trail so watch out. Heard some grunts from hogs. A beautiful view of a canyon. A little more noisy from the city than Friedrich park. Still a great place to walk. Also check yourself for ticks afterwards.
Nice trails. Level four is a good challenge for beginners. Scenery is also a plus.
Nice secluded trails here but no so many with not much views.
Loved this quite little park. The main loop is level 1, wheelchair accessable, and runs about 1.3 miles. There is an offshoot level 4 trail if you are feeling a bit more adventurous. All in all a hidden gem.
Very fun place to bring the whole family. It was my birthday and we decided to hold a hiking event for it. Unfortunately while walking my idiot ex-brother dropped my favorite German Chocolate cake on the ground and I cried for about 20 minutes. However, because it was only my 4th saddest birthday memory, I gave it 5 stars. Would definitely cry here again!
Very easy paved trail. Great for running nor those with mobility issues. Scenic views (although cluttered with hilltop houses at times) Great for a quick walk or run. No pets or bikes allowed though.
Nice little park with a 2 mile trail. Its supposed to have a lookout around a mile in but I didnt see it. They have a pathed portion for handicapped visitors which is nice.
A very nice hike! Has some easy parts & challenging parts. Beautiful views. I recommend.
Nice park. Not busy but still has nice hiking in the Hill Country.
Its a good place to go running
Perfect for a long walk. Nice views and clean restrooms.
Pretty, well maintained trails. Good trail running
Great walking, running paths with alternate options (shorter/longer). People are polite and courteous on the trails.
It’s a small park. The trails are clear and mostly shaded. It’s a good place for bird watching. No dogs or bikes allowed though.
Good for an afternoon hike or some trail running. Dont expect to spend more than an hour or 2 here though.
Very nice short trail with beautiful scenery
Its a nice little trail. Very short, dont expect it to take more than an hour to walk.
Trails are very well shaded. Makes it way easier to hike in the summer heat
Its a nice little hike. Not too crowded & a good place to bring the family to. Its around 2.4 miles, so getting around took approximately 37 minutes from start to finish.
The path is about 1.5 miles maybe shorter. It’s decently paved and not too hard, great for a beginner and there is also “level 4” trails for those looking for more excitement and activity. But I’m my opinion, the regular trail is perfect for a hot summer day as it is well shaded by trees and shrubs. Would defiantly come back.
Nice hike. Not too long. Wear good shoes.
Pretty decent natural area. The Red Oak Trail is pretty much paved but if you want to get on the natural area, go out to the Bear Grass Trail. All the trails combined are probably less than 2.5 miles, so don’t expect a whole lot. But the Bear Grass Trail is really good for bird watching and listening. Also, very natural, so you get to see Texas like it was way back in the day! Just don’t expect a rugged hike if that is what you are after. It is fun, but not challenging. All in all, it’s a great park and not too busy – kind of a hidden gem in SA – so, SHHH, don’t tell anyone else about it!Water fountains and bathrooms with running water can be found at the trailhead.
Great place for a good run. Taking the “level 4” route makes the run a lot more challenging. Mostly uphill. Takes it to about 1.95 miles. Great run and when you reach the top is a great scene.
My wife loves art and nature so I brought her here on a date. She loved it!
Its a very pretty and nice park great for hikes and stuff I like it.
Beautiful, Stunning, Peace.... Just Peaceful
Great park to take a low impact hike or walk. The scenery is very nice. Restrooms are available.
Steep upper trail, but short.
No dogs being allowed is not my favorite thing, but I loved the beautiful nature!
Gorgeous and wild. When most of the interstate wildflowers have died off, the last tendrils of late spring have left us some pops of color along the trail. One of the finest parks for just relaxing and enjoying nature with minimal road noise.
Very nice trails available in a small are
Awesome scenery
Nice quiet park. Lots to look y.
A sweet little gem of a park. Perfect for a mile to 1.5 mile run/jog with just he right amount of gradient changes.
Love this beautiful park. There is a water fountain at the trail head. Restrooms at the trail head. A beautiful pavillion at the trailhead is a peaceful place to rest after a hike. There are a number of benches along the trails that are mostly in the shade. Highly recommend.
Great casual walk with a more difficult fork about halfway through the main trail. Great for casual walks or jogs.
Nice semi paved trails, great views
Great hiking for all. Enough inclines to keep you working the muscles but also has slopes to let you rest. I will be back.
I enjoyed the trail very much. Its a nice little workout.
Nice short hill hiking and forest sound with birds chirping and insects singing
So peaceful
Very steep hills great views palmer course right there
Lots of bugs and mosquitos so bring the bug spray, trails are pretty short and if youre looking for views you should go to Friedrich instead. But the natural landscape is interesting and it is good if you want to get away from people as its usually slow.
Beautiful little nature park with water, shade, restrooms, and plenty of parking.
Beautiful walk through the hill country
Very tranquil, less crowds compared to Friedrich Park. The trails are not complicated.
Great paths, theres a map and restrooms. Trail is a little boring site wise but has nice elevation changes and isnt too long if you dont take the extra loop. One gym, few pokestops.
Small park meant for walking. Paved, gravel, and dirt trails. No bikes and no pets make this ideal for a relaxed walking experience.
Great views, mostly covered lower level trail, handicap accessible trails.
Excellent park with great features. Only down side to it is pets are not welcome.
Great walk, not strenuous enough though
Beautiful park, great place for dogs, kids and outdoors
Small, but quiet. Great if you want to get away.
Gorgeous walk, great views. Clean restroom. Water fountain at trailhead. No pets.
A good hike.
Nice area for a evening or early morning hike. Its quiet and peaceful at those times, I cant give an opinion for other times of the day but I enjoyed my stroll. You can get some great pics here, I dont really like the paved paths cause I prefer the more natural type of hiking but its still a nice park.
Great place for a walk in the woods, never as busy as other parks in the area.
The parks Ive been to in Texas thus far have been a string of disappointments. Government Canyon isnt particularly pretty and theres a ton of people. Salado Creek Greenway is almost entirely paved, has a ton of people, and is right along planes final approach to the airport. Friedrich Wilderness Park is pretty nice and has some actual elevation change, but whoever named it clearly has no idea what the word wilderness means.Crownridge Canyon Park is up there with Friedrich for me, and for the same reasons. Its pretty. Its not terribly crowded. Im not sure why Texas, or at least San Antonio, loves to ruin the natural feel of its parks by paving their paths, but at least here its not as noticeable, as the color of the asphalt blends more naturally into the surrounding terrain. Being the middle of April, the wildflowers in the areas not heavily shaded by trees are exquisite, but unfortunately, I suspect that without them, the park wouldnt be nearly as nice. Also like most of the parks Ive visited here, its very small--way too small, really. Local government apparently didnt consider how valuable parks and open spaces are when they planned this city. For what it is, though, its nice. But Im still searching for a pretty natural area where I can actually run seven or eight miles without getting dizzy from going in circles.
Great park!
Easy paved trail, moderate back loop of hiking trail, be careful on the bridges, theyre fiberglass composite, and can abrade sensitive skin and leave you itching, although they painted the top surfaces of the hand rail, reducing this problem.
Its a good starter trail. I normally hit up Fredrich for a harder workout. It takes about 30 minutes to 45 minutes to get through the park. If youre looking for a light workout its a good choice.
Clean restrooms, lots of informative and educational signs, wide hiking trails, benches in shaded areas, and generally well kept. Fun walking and hiking with the kids.
Nice trail!!!
I had no idea this place existed and I spend a lot of time only a few minutes away. This place is ultra clean, convenient, informational, and challenging. I was happy to see that there are a few miles of trails, nice bathrooms, maintained trails, and great views.
Perfect length trail for my young children. Loved the scenery and overall fairly quiet.
Great park. It has about a 1.3 mile paved loop and about another .6 mile of hilly, rocky, trails. Usually not very crowded. Look carefully and you see turkeys, hogs and more!
I just saw no pets allowed, this is so sad that this park couldn’t be more like the surrounding areas.
Better if you run to the powerline trails! Very good intense hill run! Ran to Kyle Seal! Badass workout!
Great trails for starting and very beautiful
Really? No pets? At an outside park? Definitely not a good place to go.
Very clean restrooms for an outdoor park. The scenery is amazing and the trails are fun.
This hiking spot is short but never overly crowded which makes it quiet and peaceful.
One of my favorite places to go for a walk when I lived in the area. Tends to be less busy than other parks Ive been to in the area. There are quite a few birds here, particularly in the morning, but it can sometimes be difficult to see them because of the dense vegetation along much of the trail.Woodhouses Scrub-Jay are quite common here, and while theyre not abundant by any means, Ive seen Rufous-crowned Sparrows more often here than anywhere else in San Antonio. Ive also seen Golden-cheeked Warblers, though not as often as at nearby Friedrich Park.
Cool little 2 mile walking/hiking trail.
Its a lovely park, but theres only 2.1 miles of trail in the park, and they like to give tickets if youre there after sunset.
Very fun trail. Go to the upper trail for the lookout.
A tough Hill to climb
Nice relaxing place to walk......all the construction in the area has made the wildlife scarce though.
Im sorry but im giving this a one star because its not pet friendly. I take my dog everywhere and this upset me that some of San Antonio parks are not completely dog friendly! Get with the program and be like Austin!!
Nice short trail good for elder people but does not offer much to see
Relatively empty and great trails
Far enough out of town to feel woodsy. Nice hiking trails
Nice clean park/ Speedy De Tejano Sounds
Beautiful neighborhood with lots of hills ams inclines for a good workout
Beautiful Homes. Great subdivision.
A small park with easy to walk trails that is worth visiting.
Awesome trail with few people. NO DOGS ALLOWED
The red oak trail has amazing views of the hill country.
Great for jogging and has a short trail for hiking.
Iit is a good place to walk if you are short on time
Nice!
2.1 Miles long. Very decent view while walking.
Nice park, nice trails, but no bikes allowed.
