It was okay during this virus thing its not very fun.. it was my first time there my first time hearing the band and they were really good.. the bartenders didnt listen one guy was taken care of us and the other guy yells at us and tells us to go stand in line and I told him the one guy was helping us and he just jumps over my voice and yells at me and tells me I told you to stand in line so I just went stood in line Im not going to argue with him but I thought that customer service was poor and the guy that was taking care of us in our drinks only stopped at our table once so I wasnt very happy to have one drink in 2 hours.. so service could have been way better and they could have been more attentive.. and where were not supposed to be up and dancing there were people like right at our table right in front of us very uncourtious especially when youre supposed to be sitting there and 6 ft away from everybody else..

The venue is compact and the drinks are plentiful. The food is great and the music enjoyable. If i was a close local i would frequent this venue a lot more. Metal noght tonight is a success i loved sugar bones and loved the rest.

The drinks were good the outdoor deck was lovely with the river running behind it. The service was good and all the people who work there were very friendly! Just Wish we could have seen Neil and Taylor there!

Stopped by The Royal for a bite and a brew. The pulled pork sandwich is killer. The wings are amazing as well. Love Reggae at The Royal Thursday nights at this spot as well. If you guys havent been in yet. Come in and check it out! I got the Ghost Rider IPA by Wasatch Brewery to go with my grub. Love me a good IPA

Food was delivered to wrong table, dinner was late. Margaritas were very poor....mainly mix and no alcohol. Super super slow service and will not come back.

Built on an ancient burial ground! Thats right a king and queen are buried in the foundation. Thats how the bar got its name.

Saw Static-X here a few nights ago. This is a great venue. Small, but roomy. From the back of the room you have a clear view of the stage. I will be visiting any of my favorite bands that come here, as you can get really close to the stage very easily.

Caught an acoustic set on the patio. What a rad vibe that is! Drinks are priced well and the angry pasta is a dish Ill come back for!

Went with my girlfriend to Royal Blissmass and it was an amazing experience! The bartenders were awesome! Great place! I would go back for more concerts as well as just to grab a drink.

So far my favorite bar to go and hang out at. The bar tenders helped me kind of figure how the bar worked and they made sure everyone stayed safe with COVID-19 standards.

We had a great time at the Royal. We went to go see The Extreme Dwarfanators Wrestling. It was awesome! The staff was great. They were working hard to please everyone there. As the event went on, not everyone stayed respectful, but the staff stayed close and kept order. There was plenty of parking and room. The set up was great so everyone could enjoy themselves. Great small, fun, local venue. Would love to go back and see more events there.

Great place. Great bar food. We had the wings, onion rings, and the jalapeno poppers. All of it was really good. The onion rings were beer battered, so they were really fantastic. It was a rocking place!

Food took forever but was good. Huge crowd so expected. Nice low key bar.

This was a good time! Nice small club sometimes used as a venue for up and coming musicians.

Im disappointed in the lack of organization. Concert was advertised to start at 8pm and also was advertised to start at 7 which didnt happen. Then 9pm rolls around and still nothing. It takes the fun and excitement of going to a concert. Ended up only staying for two of the three bands. Hoping I came on one of their off nights.

For a bar Id been looking forward to visiting for years they really didnt hit the spot. I didnt get ignored. My female guest really enjoyed the music. I really have nothing bad to say but at the same time nothing good stood out so I cant leave a stellar review

Excellent bar. They bring some great bands. The food is awesome. The calzones are recommended. Their nachos are awesome. The food prices are excellent. I enjoy the venue quite a bit. One of the better bar venues in Salt Lake City

I like it, nice place to go to a concert. They are pretty laid back and they dont get super uppity about where you stand. The only thing I didnt like so much was the the bathroom is super busy and only has 2 stalls in it. I would pick it over the Depot any day.

Perfect small venue for a rock concert! Great sound and a decent view of the elevated stage throughout the place. Rock will never die as long as we have places like The Royal.

Never disappoints, the outdoor area is great, in the winter they need to maintain potable heating devices better. Id comment on how loud the live music is but it seems its the norm to make it obnoxiously loud in bars across the county. Wish they would stop making it so loud, were not deaf but we will be if it continues, lol.

Get ready to get not served over the bartenders friends and then when you say something about it get kicked out of the bar this is what you have to look forward to at the Royal love the band have paid to see them 100 times but after being treated the way I did will no longer be a part of there following or a patron of their bar

Tight space for a concert but was great for being at the heart of the action.

This bar is a great place to catch concerts. It is owned by a rock band, and they put a great amount of effort into making it a great venue that attracts bands that enjoy the playing for their fans.I have not had a chance to try the food yet, but I hear that is pretty good too.

The tenders were fast with drinks with the large crowd for the Extreme Dwarfinators match. The show was amazing! Some of the best money I have spent recently. They had a good beer selection. I had a good stout and then a few shock tops. It was a good night.

I come in here about once a month and for the most part its a pretty decent little club. Food Ive ordered has been decent. Ive had a few cocktails but mostly beer. The service can be pretty hit-and-miss. One cocktail server does such a phenomenal job. She recognizes you, is engaging and friendly and follows up regularly to see how things are going. On a recent visit we were in one of the small lower sections. The server walked right past us and back, then walked past us and back again, and again. Where we were it was it was impossible to come down without actually passing our table on the way to help the people she actually was helping. Finally she came down and she gestured one minute, and then did it again as she walked away but she never came back. After 25 minutes there we finally resorted to going directly to the bar. I started a tab. When I came next I ordered a shot. This bartender quoted $7 for my shot. I told him I had a tab so he entered it in the computer. I told my friends Id never order a shot here again. My friend said theyd raised her drink price to $9 too and was a little disappointed.Later as I closed out and looked at my receipt I noticed that my shot was really only $5.50. Assuming I was paying cash the bartender had quoted me a higher price. When I mentioned this to my friend, she checked with other bar staff and learned that her drink should have really only been the usual $8, but the bartender had said $9 and shed given him an extra dollar for a tip. The bartender was basically skimming by telling customers their drinks were more than they are, taking the amount off the top and then getting the obligatory tip as well. So not cool. Other than these issues and sometimes feeling like the place is gone beyond capacity and the lack of a coat check Im pretty happy with the Royal and its location. Let the buyer beware if they keep that bartender long or somehow encourage that from their bar staff.

I have been to the Royal quite a few times in the past year. Mostly for Retro Riot nights.i have mostly gotten good service, tonight though was an exception to the rule. The drink I normally get is $8. The bartender told me it was $9. Ive not seen him there before. So I paid and tipped him more than I would have because he lied to me. The drink is 8$. Yeah, its only a dollar, but he did the same thing to my friend. Next time I will make sure I know the person serving me.

Sold out.. ..so many came without tickets..and left at 10 PM. ..their web site makes no mention of buying tickets etc.. seems oddly managed.. the door lady had that loud-lush voice... ...its boom or bust nite in the bar business...

Its a great bar! Outstanding staff very fast and friendly. I Hardley ever waited to get a drink. Not to mention that its a great venue for some amazing bands! Like the ones tonight, People of The Sun, an awesome Rage Against The Machine Cover band. And Ginger And The Gents!!! Let me tell you what people this band is amazing! seriously that band is going places. its some of the best music Ive seen in a long time.

If youre looking for watered down drinks this spots for you. Ordered a long island ice tea and the bartender fill the glass full of ice then while pouring alcohol he sprayed water. I brought it up and he denied pouring water when i saw it with my own eyes. Proof was in the taste. Food was also cold.

Horrible acoustics, outdated. Kitchen stopped taking orders because they were backed up. Abrupt staff. Dont waste your time here. Better choices.

Love this place! Reggae every Thursday night, live bands on the weekend. Excellent food, and the staff is super friendly. Great place to go have a beer and enjoy the music.
