I had my wedding reception at the Kimball House. It was a perfect venue. The signs to the house were easy to follow. It has great inside / outside space. The little kids loved the little waterfall and there was plenty of area for them to run around. They had 2 staff members greet us when we got there and they were very helpful with a little rearranging we wanted done when we got there. If youre looking for a nice, quiet, country feel this is the place to go.
The summer deal that was going on made for a great mid-covid activity. Though many of the museum like features were closed there was still plenty to do that entertained the whole family. We had some donuts from the bakery, and went to the gift shop near the gold mine area, which is our family highlight! They assign you a spot and you can spend as long as time allows panning for fools gold, it is so fun! The gift shop has likely cloth baggies you can buy for $.25 to put the gold in, super fun souvenir. Planning to go again:)
Too many of the options were closed to truly enjoy this experience today. We came years ago with our young children and it was a blast then. But with Covid restrictions so much was unavailable to enjoy. No petting zoo, no pony rides, most buildings were closed to the publuc. It was a beautiful park and there were a few things to do like the splash pad and the donut shop was open.
We visited This is the Place Heritage Park while on vacation. The proprietor of Everything Utah suggested we stop by. The Heritage Village is a reproduction of an early settler town. There are buildings representing early homesteader homes, a school, hotel and a number of others. There is also a monuments to the settler children who did not survive the trip. Further uphill you can pan for fools gold. To get there you can traverse a path filled with sculptures along a shady trail. Due to the virus, the petting animals were not available, but there is still plenty to see and do. Visit the gift shops to pick up some candies not available anywhere else.
I love this is the place. They have a lot of old pioneer buildings all put in a row like they would in the old days. These homes are really well kept up for how old they are and they have guides to help you almost everywhere you go.They have information plaques everywhere and they give you a map to everything that you can and would ever want to see. This is a great way to learn about the history of Utah how it was settled and why. They also have old pioneer games that my kids loved playing. There is so much to do that it is hard to get it all done in one day.The best and worst days to go are the free ones. They have so much going on and a lot of extra activities but it is also packed and if you are pushing a stroller around the dirt Rhodes really make it hard.
This was a fun place to visit. Sadly during Covid they kept their gift shops open, but the only activities available were panning for gold and a small spray park. Fun to walk the village as we have a couple family cabins there, but we couldnt go inside or see much of anything. I wish they would have kept the cabins open since that would require less interaction with the public than the gift shops.
I havent been since I was a kid, but we went recently and it was great! There is a path with a stream and statue that is awesome. There was little displays, with speakers describing different challenges they faces. It was fun and informative. The childrens memorial was moving and inspiring. The panning for gold setup was in a fun place. Lots of green grace and trees, with a long river you can pan through.Brighams donuts was great! They are small donuts, that they make as you watch. They were delicious. The had frosting dipping sauces and we had the maple and we all loved it.I reminds me of Geeenfield village in Michigan.
This is the Place Heritage in Salt Lake City is a must to see if you come to Utah. It is a vast area where you will find cultural I formation about the pioneers. You will feel walking on the streets back in those days. I didn’t post many pictures as I don’t want to spoil it but it was so so beautiful. They have many activities for the family, and kids love it! The food is super good and the donuts are the best ones I have ever taste. They are perfect. The ice cream is yummy specially the dole flavor. Riding on the train is so much fun. They have an awesome playground! They have horses and ponies. The view form the top of the mountain is great!
They are under construction at the moment, building a beautiful new visitor center. The end of the building will have 40 foot wide window, that the big statue will be visible from. It will get gorgeous! Its a nest little state park that had been built up and renovated a lot during the last 14 years. Totally worth visiting. Beautiful mountain view up there and across the valley.
Awesome. Great place to learn history of Utah. Highly recommend.
This is such an incredible, fun place to go visit and learn about the pioneers with friends and family. It is on the mountain where you can look down and see how massive the valley has become. The people working there were very friendly. You can mine for gold, go on train rides, hold baby ducklings, see the amazing monuments, do activities and pet the animals.
Had construction going on while we visited, but it was still a beautiful park. We stopped in the gift shop. Lots of cute little trinkets. Read a few things on the plaques that we didnt know from church history. Cool artifacts in the basement of the gift shop.
I really enjoyed this place and I really didnt know what to expect. Everyone was so friendly, the individual tours in the houses you visit were top notch. We walked for a while and then jumped on the train to get the remaining view of the facility... use the city pass if you have time to spend in SLC
Google Maps says I went there three weeks ago but I actually went last spring. Every year they have an event where you can bring your kids to pet/feed the baby animals, ride the ponies and make crafts. Its fairly inexpensive and was really a lot of fun! The baby animals are so cute and your kids will LOVE it!
Absolutely special and wonderful place to visit to learn more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
During the holiday season, most of the buildings are open. Many staffed by knowledgeable folks. Some have arts and crafts, others dancing, others food. Some of the buildings are original, relocated from their pioneer locations; others are modern replicas. They have a train, horse-drawn cart, and nativity. It is getting more popular every year. So plan accordingly.
Our group could have spent the entire time at the gold panning area. Its a long hot walk up to there. Many of the buildings are roped so you can still look inside. Some areas arent even open like the playground, pony rides, train and trolley. It was easy to find time to do all the areas that were open. We still enjoyed our experience, but it wasnt as magical this time.
Such a beautiful place for an event! The various locations to host an event are inspired! You cant go wrong with this venue! The team is amazing. So kind and easy to work with. Their packages are amazing!Plus All of this iconic Utah history in one location is amazing!
Great place to experience early Utah history, friendly staff and friendlier animals
Fun place to go to. Went horse back riding here one time.
We had a blast learning about pioneers and seeing some cool and interactive history lessons. Its clean and organized. Oour group was taken care of and I only wish there was now time to see more things. We got to take a school class, see a blacksmith, pull a handcart, and ride a train.
This is a pretty great place to take your family for an afternoon of fun. The also have themed events throughout the year that change things up a bit. I recently went to the free day where you dont have to pay an admission fee. They also had free ice cream on this day so that was awesome! But if you are looking for a fun and interactive look into the history of Utah this is defiantly a place to go.
It was a quiet day and due to the pandemic most of the demonstrations were not available. It was a good place for a 2 year old to run around.
The new monument is breathtaking. We felt a beautiful reverence there as we read the stories of the people that contributed to the Westward trek and settlement.
Very nice! But we were too early. There were no staff yet early June / end May. But we did get to walk the grounds and enjoy the area. it was very interesting to read all about old days and see how they lived back then. If you have time, Id recommend stopping by.Visited June 2016
This is a lovely place!! We visited for a field trip and the kids loved it. Everyone is very nice and knowledgeable. We want to go back and visit as a family so we can spend more time there. This is a must for everyone. Its a great place to spend the day.
I take my grand children here every summer, Halloween & Christmas. The are always delighted to go there. There are so many different activities that they are never bored even as they have grown into their teenage years.
This place is awesome! I still have fond memories of the few times I went when I was a kid.
There is a beautiful Catholic Church here with one of the best stain glass Ive ever seen. Absolutely worth our while while in Salt Lake City
First year I attended this Salt Lake City Christmas mainstay and I was blown away. There was a wonderful holiday spirit, very nice people, lots of gifts and food to choose from. I am making this an annual family tradition :)
Went on a Sunday so a lot of things were closed but enjoyed the animals the most! Took the train ride around the park and loved how knowledgeable the driver was. Definitely will be back again on a day where everything will be open.
Greatest statues Ive ever seen.
Went there this morning and I was pleasantly sorprised. I went as a chaperon for my sons field trip and he got to learn a lot about the pioneers history. Defenetly going back with my whole family!
The horseback ride was alot of fun! James was very knowledgeable and made the activity enjoyable. I would do it again!
Cool place! Minus one star for the saloon restaurant food being a rip.
Very moving. Tells the story of great sacrifice and dedication.
A wonderful collection of historic homes and buildings, some relocated from elsewhere, celebrating the pioneer heritage of Utah. This focuses on Mormon settlers, but includes others who played important roles in settling the area. Beautiful vistas in all directions in this picturesque location. One of the best historical sites in Utah.
My family and my nieces family went to Candlelight Christmas last night at This Is The Place Heritage Park. It was our first time going and we had such a great time. We went prepared with an extra layer of clothing since we knew it was outdoors as well as inside. We were able to visit Father Christmas and take our own pictures. The kids enjoyed making pioneer Christmas crafts and decorations. The village is lit up with Victorian-like charm. You will be whisked away to a simpler time. Complete with town Carolers, train rides and wagon rides,10 cent candy at the mercantile, and a live nativity. Do not forget to try Brigham’s donuts and hot chocolate. Thank you for a night of great family fun and the price of $5 per person can not be beat. Hoping they can keep these prices next year too.
Had a great time here with the entire family! Lots of different things to do (petting zoo, horse rides, splash pad, playground, interactive performances, great staff)
Loved our trail ride. Totally worth doing.
Beautiful wedding at the pink house. Great band, wonderful food and the atmosphere was magical.
This is the place where Brigham Young allegedly exclaimed This is the place. I suppose after a long and treacherous hike across the mountains, they were all happy to see a nice empty valley. Then they settled down, built a beautiful city, toyed with the idea of starting their own country and wisely choose against that and in the end created a successful and peaceful society. Nice job!
Master Westover knows his stuff. Hes the tinsmith. Hes also studying ancient bronze casting.
A great place only if things were open. We were advised by the ticket lady that it was half off because only some buildings were open. She stated there were still pony rides, etc. Well, there were like 5 buildings open with nobody there, just a quick look and done. Then the pony rides were closed until March. Dont advertise something being available to get people to pay admission if it isnt open. Several others were also upset because they were told the same. I give it two stars because it does have history and potential but dont trust the staff and dont go in the winter.
Another fantastic wedding reception for the grandkids, may they live long and prosper.
The monument was amazing, the monument showcases some of Utahs really interesting history. The monument itself is pretty big. When the zoo is open you can park really close (about 10 meters away). When the zoo is closed youll have to take a 5-10 minute walk to get there. The gift shop was varied and had some interesting souveniers. My favorite was the monkey bookmark. The park itself is closed when its raining, the same with the surrounding area.
We enjoyed to visit and get to know even more about the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints.
Quaintpark, its a collection of old reconstructed homes and stores from the early days of the mormon pioneers, and their stories in Utah. Wheel chair accessible, food and treats available for purchase, lots and lots of angled walking
Interesting place. I would like to come back in the summer when more buildings are open. The Pioneer Children Memorial was very nice. Would be nice if they had people around to answer questions
Really cool if you like 19th century history. Cant wait to go when it gets warmer out.
We had the most amazing time today during the liberty celebration. My daughter absolutely loved the princesses Megan was absolutely fantastic I highly recommend spending a day here.
I was building a new building that is emaculat. If you are in to morman history, then its cool. If not they have horse back riding. Nice place for family function. Im not Mormon but, nice.
Had a great experience here. Very informitive with the pioneers life of travel.
This is a magical place. There are tons of unique, quality food vendors that you definitely wish you could try all of in one day.Plenty of unique little shops with incredible quality goods.A playground for kids when they get bored. And incredibly helpful staff that are friendly, insightful, and knowledgeable. If you ignore the random Audi driving down the middle of the vendor shops with the parade then its an incredible experience.
My son had a school field trip here. It was fun and educational. But the coordinator was unorganized and we didnt know where to go or what we were suppose to go for the majority of the day.
I went to this place over ten years ago and it was interesting. Now its amazing and very kid friendly. I can spend all day there with fairly young kids and they dont get bored. There is a really great park/ play area that they love, as well as a splash pad for the summer months. I think that when you buy a day pass you are allowed to do three special activities like pony rides, crafts, and other activities. My children love the treasure house. It coats a dollar to dig for gems, which they give you a tiny bag for, but panning for gold is free and they absolutely loved that. I havent been to any of the restaurants, but they have a restaurant, an ice cream shop, and a doughnut shop... Possibly more. The gift shops are reasonably priced for gift shops. Its open all year long and they do a lot of special activities throughout the year. They also have little performances throughout the day. The Christmas market is fun, but it was really busy when I went. There really are so many things going on here I cant even list them all.
We went to the Kristkindlmart and had a lot of fun looking at all the different food trucks and the market. They had an amazing yodeler while we there that set a festive time to the event. It is definitely worth checking out during the Holiday season.
This is the place is an amazing and educational park with way more to offer than I ever thought. You can spend time at the petting zoo with pigs, goats, ponies and other farm animals. They offer horse back riding have a real blacksmith on site. A train that takes you around the park. Lots of old homes and so much more. The donuts at Brigham donuts are to die for as they are made to order as you watch. Of all the things to do in salt lake this one is a must...
My favorite place to bring out of town guests to help share local history.
Its a very nice place to see, with interesting stories. Also a great place to take kids.
This has lots of fun interactive activities that give a great glimpse into the life of Utah pioneers.
Beautiful and inspiring
What an experience. Really interesting and must visit.
Beautiful place
We love visiting during the holidays. The Candlelight Christmas is a tradition for our family. Bonus: The real Santa can be found here!
Love this place! So much to see and do...school house even teaches the Deseret Alphabet!! We are always drawn into the Metal shop or with the animals! There is even handcart pulling! Was a great day with 4th grade field trip, that has inspired us to return and spend a family day there!
It was Amazing! The history and all the nice scenery..there is just so much history.
EXCELLENT STOP IF YOURE INTERESTED IN UTAHS HISTORY
There is so much to do.The annual passes are on sale this month. They have baby animal days right now, but have different themes during the year. I took my kids 2 days in a row, and they asked if they could come back again the next day. My kids love to pan for gold and make the crafts. Youre able to press some leather, make an arrowhead necklace and a bird house. Take your gold down to Bank to see how much its worth. For an additional $1 (includes souvenir bag) youre able to dig in their rubber pit for polished stones. This was so fascinating and a fun activity that occupied my kids for a long time.
Fun place to explore with some gorgeous scenery and cool history.
Definitly fun and worth a visit especiallt a monday
Went to a special event for members of honor flights. Beautiful venue and Kurt Bestor entertained. All thanks to Nate Wade Subaru.
We went to Christkindle in December. It is a German Christmas celebration. The ark is filled with houses and other village buildings from pioneer era. They reenact the nativity including Mary riding down the street on a donkey. It was fantastic.
Absolutely beautiful. More than you’d expect from what most people say it is. Very meticulously built and maintained and the staff was always friendly
Attended the Kristkindlemarkt, a German festival. Super fun, cant wait for next year!
We love this is the place! It gives you a real feel for pioneer life and my kids love all the pioneer crafts. Panning for gold, train rides, and riding the ponies are a few favorite activities. I always being a stroller, snacks, and water because we like to stay for hours. They do have food at the hotel and Brighams donuts.Oh and dont miss the pioneer childrens memorial! Its a beautiful walk towards panning for gold and they have done a wonderful job portraying stories of children crossing the plains.
This is an annual Christmas tradition for us. Go early in the day and early in the week because it only gets busier. Lots of vendors, good food at above average prices, and a chance to visit St. Nicholaus. My kids look forward to it every year. No entry fee.
Nice historical park with a pioneer village and lots to do. Great place to go sight see and learn about early Utah history
Cool place to learn about the pioneers. The people who work there are very friendly and the buildings are amazing
This was such a fun park! Water play and traditional playground.
This place is special. Gorgeous view for sunset picnic, reflection not only of the past pioneers but of the great Salt Lake in the distance. The monuments, the houses, the streets. It makes you appreciate things specially your family.
A great place to bring the family and spend the day submerged in the pioneer lifestyle.
The Christmas theme was so fun! My kids were busy the whole time, loved everything, and even learned some stuff! It was very busy but we moved through the lines pretty quickly.
Chris kringle markt was AWESOME!! Krampus was a wonderful touch of tradition and authenticity. new tradition in my family. Will be going every year
Great place to get a good time with family, you can get a ride in the train and know about history.
My family loves this place. We especially love coming during the holidays. So many fun activities for the kids and they keep the animals clean and well. The grounds are also very looked after and the playground is large and nice.
Such a great place for all ages! You can enjoy the fascinating history of the Mormon pioneers with original and replicated buildings from the mid 1800s and historical interpreters giving tours and teaching you about the people who lived there. Adults and kids alike will love learning about trades such as blacksmithing, printing, tinsmithing, pottery, cabinetry, and shoemaking with actual tradesmen practicing right there in front of you and teaching about how the trades were practiced back in the day and how they have changed. Kids will love panning for gold, mining for gems, making arrowhead necklaces with Native Americans, doing all sorts of other crafts, or even playing on the little splash pad! This is only a fraction of the activities to participate in. Such a gorgeous place up in the mountains and an amazing summer family outing.
Wonderful place, and amazing historical site! The views of the Salt Lake valley are magestic and peaceful from here. The history of the LDS pioneer trek to the West is so amazing and beautiful. I personally felt touched and inspired while visiting this site. If youre in SLC, you definitely want to add this to one of your stops. Theres a village with a show, but I didnt have time to go in. I understand that entering the village and watching the show is not free. However, all the monuments are free. Most awesome!!!
I really didnt know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere here is so focused on family as well as learning about and appreciating history. While the overall theme is of course focused on the Mormon experience in the early days of selling in Utah, you get a real sense for what challenges all pioneers faces - and the solutions they discovered along the way. The role players or cast were not only authentically dressed but were great sources of information. Nice gift shop. Decent food choices. Everything is reasonable priced. The sandwich and salads were more than could be expected for this price. Take a day. Take the family. Take some time to travel through time and feel firsthand what life way like so long ago.
We came here for a wedding. It was so beautiful. The landscaping was goregous, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The only thing was the bartender that was selected was a bit rude to the bride and grooms parents and she refused to set up kids drinks. This bartender always selected out if who the heritage place recommended. Other than that, the outside patio was beautiful, the inside was clean and set up beautifully.
This is a great park and a wonderful venue. We most recently went for the Dog Days and had a blast. I wouldn’t let my kids play at the splash pad, however, since the concrete is ridiculously slippery. Just watch for 5 minutes and you will see kid after kid slipping and hurting themselves some much worse than others. The employees are happy and the activities are fun. It seems like we spend most of our time panning for gold.
Beautiful and peaceful with all the snow fall
