Oh my goodness! The quality of this tour has grown 10O0% better now that the Church history department has taken the reigns from the missionary department.I highly recommend this. You get the historical aspects of the home and of the period. Polygamy is not hidden or glossed over, but stated as a matter of fact way of life. The guides are knowledgeable and accurate and there is no missionary pressure or out of the blue testifying that can turn off non-members who are there for the history and asking members for referrals of their friends which has been a guilt-ridden staple of historical sites in the past.Such a pleasant and professional change!

It was a very enlightening experience. The missionaries are so knowledgeable and insightful. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Ive been living here for months and finally walked across the street. Should have done it earlier. I had a great time and learned a lot. Their historical memorabilia is to die for. Will be back with more time and bring friends next time.

Cool house, slightly awkward tour guide. They lay the preaching on pretty thick about their religion and what the LDS represents which I guess given their reputation as missionaries is expected. We also missed a room because another group was in there and asked if we could go back since they werent there anymore, they were quite apprehensive and you could tell they didnt want to which was odd we had to push them a little to take us. Seemed like they were not flexible and pretty strict, but again not unexpected. The tour itself was okay, aside from the preaching they kept throwing in I would have rather just looked around. I suggest asking them about some of the more controversial subjects that Brigham Young was known for if you wanna make it more interesting.

I have lived in Utah 20+ years and FINALLY did the tour. So worth it to learn more about the early settlers. If a big group (over 10), get a reservation ahead of time, otherwise you can pop in any time and get a tour. Tours are about 30 minutes, but theyll spend more time with you if you ask questions. Grateful that this gem has been preserved over the century!

It was an amazing tour of Brigham Youngs home, As well as many other prophets who lived there after him! It was very interesting, but also made me very grateful I didnt live back in that time period. I love electricity and plumbing! Brigham Young was very creative as well as hard working and whenever we had questions the tour guide was always able to answer them.

Just a short distance from Temple Square, youll see this lovely 2-story house and Eagle Gate. Even knowing this former home of Brigham Young is filled with history, I had to skip the free tour and failed to see the interior of the house. But the garden in front of the house had impressed me already.

Im not a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but was interested in visiting Beehive House for its rich history and to learn more about Brigham Young. However, what I didnt anticipate was how impressive and beautifully preserved the house itself would be. I absolutely love touring historic homes, and this one is truly memorable.

As this is a location where a former leader of the LDS church lived, I think it adds to the experience that his intellectual and spiritual descendants continue to offer the tour using the same faith promoted by Brigham Young. Had a pleasant and interesting day touring all the Temple Square sites; for some reason the Mormon church chose this particular tour to really lay on the hard sell, though. For comparison, Id say the tour of the Tabernacle was 90% interesting history and 10% light proselyting, which was fine. I understand its a church, thats their job.The Beehive House tour was at least 80% proselyting. The two sisters were laying it on pretty thick with the testifying, and were quick to awkwardly change the subject when anyone asked a question about history.Brigham Young was a controversial guy. Polygamy, colonization and racism are kind of what hes known for. You cant just pretend that stuff never happened when youre giving a tour of the place where it all happened.By half way through, many people in our group were ignoring the guides and just reading the Brigham Young Wikipedia article on their phones.

I respect Brigham Young for leading a bunch of hot chicks and confused men to Utah. He was a badass for doing that. However, I gotta give him a 3. Why? Because he said that single men over 25 are a menace to society. A menace... to society. This is a man who had 12 wives, and he had the balls to blame single men for being single? Think about it.

Interesting place, a little misleading though. In case you just visit this place, you may think Briam Young, famous Mormon Prophet has only one wife. Take at least a brief look to the Lion House, which is a restaurant. Every window there belong according to what I read, the room of a separate wife of the prophet.

The house is definitly worth to visit! Very beautiful piece from the past. But the visit told by 2 mormon sisters, that had a total lack of knowlegde about the place (not even the year of building!) and didnt show any interest in it made it less enjoyable. They spent more time telling tales about the prophet and their own beliefs... I guess we didnt look interested enough because our visit was shorter than the other group... too bad.

Went with my Grandmother who use to be a tour guide for the Beehive House just recently. The tour was a little bit of a snoozer because we only went into 3 rooms, and not upstairs at all. The sisters were nice, but they didnt really know anything about the house at all or any history about it. Just kept preaching which was ok, but not what we came for.My Grandma has Dementia, and she can still remember a month later about how disappointed she was in this tour. The LDS Church should restore the tours to what they were back in the 1980s, and get real *trained* tour guides not sister missionaries.
