Fun escape room at a decent price. There is a lot to do to keep a group occupied the whole time. Lots of fun and would visit again!
Good escape rooms at a great price. Weve completed two of the escape rooms, they were fun and decently challenging (experienced group of 4, escaped the harder rooms with about 10 min left). The rooms arent as elaborate as some others - usually not multiple rooms or intricate decorations. The rooms are themed and do have mutiple puzzles to keep you busy - overall escape rooms here are usually around $10 less per person than other places, in my view totally worth it and nice to mix it up. Staff has always been friendly and helpful.
We came for my birthday today and we chose the sherlocked room. I will say that this was the most cohesive escape room Ive ever done. We escapes with 14 minutes and 31 seconds left on the clock. Its a great team building exercise!
There’s a lot I can say about this escape room. First this was my first time doing an escape room and I had this expectation of some massive room with all these clues where you needed to escape. The Escape Key didn’t exactly fit that picture but that is in no way a bad thing. My girlfriend and I did this last minute one night, I can’t remember the name of the woman who I believe runs this place but she was super awesome! She gave us the option to do multiple rooms and made sure to go over all the instructions we would need. We choose a tough room but it was a blast. After she was even kind enough to take a few pictures of my girlfriend and I together. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I unfortunately am not from the SLC area so I’m not sure when I’ll be back but when I do go back this will definitely be on my list to go to again. Anyone looking for an escape room definitely go check this place out, the only thing I would say is 2-4 people is probably best as the rooms are small and I like to spread out. Oh one other thing I forgot to mention was when I called to reserve a spot she asked me if we were using a Groupon discount or anything like that, I said no (not thinking to check Groupon) but she said “oh no problem I’ll just give you the Groupon discount” I think it was like $10-$15 off per person but seriously she really went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience and that’s a rarity these days.
We celebrated my birthday here and did the CSI: SLC Room. It was everyone first escape room and it was such an incredible experience. The Hostess was so incredible and making us feel very welcomed. I cant wait to try the different themed rooms.
We really enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The puzzles were challenging but not impossible. The story was great and the decor matched the story. I would go back.
Our family enjoyed the experience so much that we didnt even notice the hour flying by. I would highly recommend The Escape Key.
Great experience with the family working as a team. Clues are just that. They give you nothing.
We had a great time! We enjoyed the Sherlocked room. It was a good mystery, and even though we ran out of time by a bit, we didn’t care too much because we had FUN!
We escaped three Sherlocked room. It was fun and the puzzles were good. We only needed one clue and escaped with 17 minutes to spare. We will be back to try some harder rooms. We are a group of experienced escape room escapees. Staff was friendly.
Our family didnt really like it. Its an older building, tired rooms, and simplistic props. We did the Sherlock room and didnt make it out in time. The staff wasnt really enthusiastic about the whole thing and I think our host just wanted us to leave. We got a discount through Groupon, making it seem like a bargain. Really, it was a big waste of time and money.
Worst experience ever. Called to ask about prices and availability was told to come in. When I arrived with my family, I was told I need to make a reservation ahead of time. Rude staff and no one would say which took the initial call. RUDE!@
We have done two escape rooms here and have loved both! Very cleverly thought-out rooms. We would absolutely come here every week if we could! Go with a group of you prefer not to be put with strangers, but you’ll have a great time either way! Take your kids for a family night, but know that there is an age limit, and it’s there for a reason. This is a great way to take a break and immerse yourself in something fun for an hour!
Probably only gave it a 4 cuz we didnt finish lol!! But this was our first escape room and we had a couple young kids so we werent as organized as we could have been. That being said we all had a blast, we hit a wall around 40 minutes in where we started figuring more clues out that probably wouldve been apparent much earlier with more organization and a tiny bit of experience. All in all for the price it was a great time and chance to get our feet wet, we will be doing more of these as a family. Thanks Escape Key
My family has now been to both the Provo and Salt Lake City locations and both were great experiences. The staff was top quality. The rooms are creative and fun for a whole family.
Successfully Infiltrated!! Our family rocked this escape room! We all loved working together to solve the clues to stop a terrorist attack. It was so fun to see how each person played a valuable role in this espionage type room, figuring out clues, noticing things others missed, etc. We had a group of eight adults, ranging ages 22-50 years old. It was challenging but not impossible. We managed to escape with about seven minutes left and we were stoked! Absolutely had a blast! Staff was super fun, friendly, and helpful. 10/10 recommend!
We chose this place because it was cheap with a Groupon, and I guess you get what you pay for. The room was kind of small, at least for the 8 people it said it supports. This was one where you are in darkness and the only source of light is a couple flashlights. Really should have had more than two for a group of 8, it led to some people feeling like they couldnt do anything to contribute. The puzzles were fine, but one of the props that was a vital clue to a lock was broken and didnt light up, which wasted a lot of time. We were thankfully able to still beat the room after working around that, but we didnt get anything more than a congratulations and ushered out the door. Most places at least let you take a celebratory picture for social media. This place also didnt have any information about difficulty levels or pass rates, which would be nice to have.
This place is a winner (weve only done the Sherlock room). We have a good amount of experience with different escape rooms across the country and this is one of our favorites. We bought tickets for our next visit right after we finished with this visit. Cant wait to experience the next room.
I booked with this company about a month ago after carefully checking reviews of numerous escape rooms. I also received an emailed confirmation the day of with parking instructions, etc. we packed up 4 teens and drove from Roy to slc to eat and do this fun activity to ring in our 2020. No one was at the location. We called and spoke to melody, who explained the manager of that location decided to take two days off and not check to see if people had booked. She was nice, but our New Year’s Eve was ruined. Nothing was offered other than to refund o money. My boyfriend had to ask if we could get a discount if we chose to book again through them. She said yes, but why would I want to choose a company that runs their business this way? Thanks for ruining our new year’s eve plans with my teenagers.
Fun activity! We picked a bigginer room and it was perfect for 4 people. Staff was super nice and helpful, very patient with us. Totally would do it again!
Pretty fun almost solved it in time was barely off!
Great puzzles and scenarios, we had a great time! We would definitely go back again. The room we did (infiltrated) needed a little more polish. Some of the mechanisms were broken which slowed things down a bit. We wished the parts of each puzzle led into the next step. It seemed like we got most of the pieces at the beginning and had to sort out what went with what. Overall it was a great experience and a ton of fun.
As an owner of another escape room we came to the Escape Key to take our employees out for some fun. We did the Infiltrated room and got out with over 5 minutes left. We had a great time! Staff was friendly, the building was tidy, and the room itself was full of a variety of fun and creative puzzles. We highly recommend The Escape Key!
This Escape key is similar to the one in Provo. They are both in somewhat run down offices but the rooms are pretty great. We did the Sherlock room in SLC and have done 2 rooms in Provo. They really do a great job. This room was pretty heavy on the combination locks and honestly that aspect wasnt as enjoyable. We ended up brute forcing about 3 or for of the combination locks because we had found enough info to just get the locks open without having to find everything. We got out pretty quickly. Something like 20 minutes left. Overall there were some great puzzles in this room but it is simply too heavy on the combo locks.
We booked the Lunacy room with a bunch of friends for a group date and had an enjoyable time. Starts in complete darkness. There were a few items in the room that were broken and didnt seem to function properly, but we were able to get most of they way through, and were on the very last clue before we ran out of time. Overall an enjoyable experience. Hope they can fix the organ - that would have made it a lot easier to solve.
It was fun and a good family friendly night. A little pricey.
This was a great group activity! We took our 8 year old granddaughter and her best friend to the Escape Key for her birthday. We solved the Sherlocked room with 8 1/2 minutes to spare. It was definitely challenging and it took all 6 of us to solve the clues. I highly recommend this activity for groups of all ages. We will definitely go back!
We had so much fun! The staff was great, our room was a challenge. And despite what other reviews have said the place was really easy to find, just use Google and read signs. I thought our room was a very good logical challenge. So you have to use your brain along with finding clues.
This place is sweet! We did the Sherlock room and had a bunch of fun. It was challenging but not too challenging. If you steer too off course then they will post a message on the screen that will help you know what to do.
The observer didnt know when to give us a nudge, and the UV paint clues were too faint for the relative brightness of the room so we literally couldnt see some of the clues.
Fantastic experience! Racing against the clock, we solved the first puzzle, which led us to the next, and the next. Clever puzzles, not too easy but solvable if you reason it out. Great staff! Friendly and helpful. (If you enjoy the game The Room, you will love Escape Key!) Highly recommend. We will definitely come again. They have 5 rooms!
Second time there. Great themes. Well done. I would do it again.
Our group solved the sherlocked room with 25 minutes left. The puzzles were fun and pretty challenging. The decor and room were not up to the standards of the two other rooms we had done at The Great Escape in Layton. Overall fun time.
My work and I came by here as an after work event and team building exercise! We enjoyed the FBI room, and we had a blast trying to solve the puzzles. I really liked how unique the whole thing was. It starts with a story/mission given via television. They have security cameras filming you for your and the rooms safety. The door isnt actually locked, for safety as well. That gave me peace of mind. I loved trying to solve it. The TV prompts you to try and solve riddle-like clues when you get stuck. Unfortunately, we went wrong somewhere and narrowly missed our chance to solve it in the hour we provided, but the facility was neat. Hard to find! You have to go into a building and up an elevator. But we enjoyed the experience and have often considered returning.
We had a great time in the Sherlock Holmes room. We brought our two kids ages 12 and 10 and they were able to participate and enjoy it with help from us. They noticed several things that I wouldve overlooked. This was a perfect family activity.
It was a fun evening with our kids. They enjoyed helping to solving the puzzles in the Sherlock room.
The room was quite cute. Easy to navigate, good for small groups or novices. Staff was quite good as well
Love it here! Very fun and outside the box thinking!
Shout out to the guy that was working there tonight️ Very good host! Also the CSI escape room was very well thought out, fun, and challenging. Had a blast!
I have been here three separate time and every time is a completely new experience. They change the rooms enough that by the time you are ready to strain your brain to escape again they have a new challenge for you. The puzzles are difficult but they are not impossible and it makes you feel more than accomplished when you solve one! They also make sure that you have fun and dont leave you high and dry if you get completely stuck on a certain part.If you are looking for a fun date or group activity they are a must. Their prices are better than other rooms I have looked at and from what I have heard, an overall better experience as well.
This was a ton of fun even though we didnt complete the challenge!! I cant wait to go again!!
We had a great time in The Lair of Lunacy. The puzzles were clever. The scenario was fun and made us think and yet it wassolveable but challenging. Our host Tanner was great. He made us feel comfortable and gave clever but cryptic clues if we needed one without giving it away.Best escape room experience Ive had. And my group of eight loved it.
We did the dark room (something about an antedote) and it was a blast! We had two adults and three kids with us (ages 9-16) and everyone was able to help find clues to get us out. Everyone loved it!I would definitely recommend this place!
You can tell that this escape room is awesome from the responses the owner provides to people that give unhappy comments. This place was THE BOMB! We had so much fun. The clues were challenging but doable. I loved this experience! I highly recommend it. :)
Such a clever alternative to dinner and a movie. Great, cheap fun!! The staff is very helpful and engaging, the challenges are a fantastic work-out for your brain, and it was a great time to connect with friends. Highly recommended memory maker. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is that the props seem very cheap and worn out - like discarded furniture. Consider updating some of the items. Otherwise...amazing!
Lair of Lunacy was perfect for two adults and 6 kids (ages 8 to 12) thank you for the clues to help the kids feel accomplished! So much fun.
Puzzles were terrific! Loved our crime scene room. Staff was super friendly. Well be back!!!
I took my team here for an activity. It was awesome seeing each member of the team solving different puzzles. Everybody was talking about it all the way back to the office. As the lead, the best part was hearing everybody talk about puzzles their team members solved, and how nobody thought they could have done it alone. Mission accomplished, in more ways than one!
Heard very good things about the escape key from these reviews, so I was surprised when it did not quite live up to expectations. We did the Russian Roulette room. The facilities were not very clean or organized. The escape was moderately difficult - we made it out with 5 minutes to go - but the worker seemed to give out clues rather liberally over the TV, things we could have figured out on our own. The storyline and objectives seemed to lack continuity. It was more of a random series of puzzles than anything cohesive. Once we made it out, we were quickly ushered out the door with no congratulations or fanfare. It was a good brain teaser, but the overall experience and atmosphere was definitely lacking.
A different type of experience that will definitely test your mental skills. A nondescript building houses this unique business but once you are inside the doors you are in for a treat. They offer many different types of mysteries to solve that vary in difficulty. We did the murder mystery and it was definitely challenging. The support staff was very helpful from initial reservations to the day of the event. They even will offer up subtle clues to keep you on track, which was needed in our case.Tip: Look in Groupon for a nice dealSo if youre tired of the same old birthday celebration give this place a try. It was worth it!
So much fun! Great group or family activity. I wish I could do one every week!
Wish the room was a little more elaborate but we solved it. Also got really hot inside the room. But with a groupon the price made it worth a 4th star
If youre looking to try live puzzle escape rooms, or have tried some of the others in the area, The Escape Key is, hands down, the best.Elaborate puzzles, excellent production value (especially for the comparatively low price), and widely enjoyable themes, The Escape Key is perfect in every way. Ideal for groups of 3-5 people, this is challenging yet fun.You will not regret going to The Escape Key!
One of our favorite places to do Escape Rooms! They are better priced than most places nearby and they offer just as challenging and fun games.
Very well organized and the room seemed simple at first, but had a huge surprise which made it as much fun if not more so than any of the other escape rooms Ive visited. They were very attentive and my family and I had a blast! Definitely going back.
The Escape Key is the best kept secret for Provo group activities! Their location is even a little hidden, which makes the experience all the more real.To breakdown my time at The Escape Key, I should start by saying that we came in as a group of 4, completed the Escape in 63 minutes, and were actively searching, puzzling, and solving for every single second of that hour.Escape Key is family-friendly and forgiving to those who are unfamiliar with escape rooms while still introducing unique and exciting variables to keep even the seasoned escapees captivated and engaged.Personally, I had been in only 3 previous Escape rooms before this one, and found it thoroughly complex with enough depth to have adrenaline pumping, but not enough to leave me dumbfounded and discouraged. A healthy balance of detective work and ominous imagination.A 5-star review is no small commendation, but in my opinion, in comparison to the surrounding options for group entertainment that incorporates and involves teamwork and bonding, The Escape Key outshines anything else nearby.Try it!
So much fun!! The staff even opened early to accommodate our schedule - they were great! We did the Sherlock theme, and it was fantastic; the puzzles were really well done and the hints were just enough to keep you going. We finished in about 45 minutes - I would totally go back.
There was no A/C! When you have 8 people in a small room, that is a problem. There were also no working bathrooms on that floor as well. Everything felt a bit dingy. As far as the game went it was ok. I like the escape rooms that have passageways in to other rooms. This one did not.
Had a great time doing this. It was my first time and it was so fun. I cant wait to do another.
My group of friends and I came here for a bachelor party and we had a blast! The staff was very informative and personable through out the process. We were in the Lair of Lunacy room, which was a perfect mix of mystery and creepy. The clues were hard enough we felt challenged, but not so hard we felt stumped. Every part of the experience was great. We all agreed we would be back to try the other rooms.
The escape key was a lot of fun! I thought Id have to just poke around a room and find stuff but it was actually very complex and there were keys, riddles, etc. We all had a great time. Would definitely go back and try another room!
So fun. Was not sure what to expect here. We were in the Sherlocked room. It was very difficult, much harder than I thought. I am proud to say we got out with about 7 minutes remaining. This is a great place for date night. Either first date or married for 30 years. Lots of fun, different from most activities I have done. Highly recommend.
They had a friendly staff and it was a lot of fun! Would go again.
Super fun group date!
We got in really quick once we got there and didnt have to wait. The room was well set up and had a fun scenario. We bonded as a family. The guy who was helping us was so nice and fun! Great experience :)
Super fun! We have been to two rooms now and we have felt like they are well done! A group of 5 seems to be just right for us- not too crowded and plenty of clues for each person to participate in.
This was such a fun experience! The room was very well prepared, and our host gave us an excellent pep talk prior to the experience. There were no details spared and we talked about it for hours following. LOVED it!
We escaped with 5 minutes to spare! Very fun time.
This place is a decent eacape room with some fun themes.A couple of the puzzles wernt set up right, the lock got set backwards in one room and a tool ran out of batteries in another. The main downside for our group tho was that these rooms were very warm so it made for an uncomfortable hour in there.
Ive been excited to go to a puzzle room for a while, and Ive gotta say; Escape Key delivered on the hype! I went into their smallest room with a group of 4 others, and we were talking about the next time we could all go again before wed even left the parking lot. Its a lot of fun, everything that was promised and more. If youve got a good group of friends, youd be hard-pressed to come up with a more enjoyable activity to do.
The lair of lunacy was really fun! The Sherlock room was very fun too! The location was a bit hard to find but parking was free and close. Both were challenging but not too hard. We had 5 people for the Sherlock room and i think that was a great amount of people.
Had a blast. Both Provo and Salt Lake City locations are high quality. Good for families or just adults.
Ive done two escape rooms here and both have been a great experience. The clues are difficult, but not so difficult that you cant make it out. Very well designed rooms.
This was a lot of fun! We ended up in the hardest room and it really was pretty impressive how much detail they put in to everything. It was a great way to spend an evening with friends!
Looked on their website, was told walk-ins were accepted. We went on a 2.5 hour long journey to reach the spot wed been told was one of the greatest attractions in Utah, only to be greeted with an empty door and no reception whatsoever after knocking on their door for five minutes. We called them three times in the 2.5 hour window it took us to reach them, and our calls were never answered. Severely disappointing. The library was a much more beautiful and worthwhile attraction.
We had a great experience here! It was our first time at an escape room and we enjoyed every aspect of it. The staff was friendly and the room was exciting. I definitely reccomend this place to any group looking to have a fun evening!
I brought a group of 7 to the CSI room. The room limit was supposed to be 8 people. Upon arriving there, there were two other people who did the room with us. I was told that it was due to a computer glitch. It was a small one room experience, and because there were too many people in the room, individuals in my group did not get to participate as they should have been able to. I have done many escape rooms and a room has never been overbooked like this. I emailed The Escape Key three separate times and they have never responded to me. Okay room. Very poor customer service.Update 1/28/2018The Escape Key is under new management, and the new crew got back in touch with me and gave us the chance to do another room. The experience this time was seamless and enjoyable for all!
It was just the right amount of challenge to turn your brain. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well done. We loved it! Well be back as Arnold would say.
It was a great experience with a very friendly and welcoming staff! We ended up picking the Sherlock room, it was pretty challenging, but very fun and exciting! Would definitely recommend to anyone in that area!
Fun place. Great for spending 30-60 minutes with some friends or with your kids.
We had an awesome time at the Escape Key! We did the Sherlock room and had a lot of fun! It was clever and hard. We will be returning customers here.
We had a great time in the Lair of Lunacy room at The Escape Room! Even our 9 year old loved it!
It wasnt exactly the most ritzy, but The Escape Key provided a fun escape room challenge with solvable clues. Difficulty wasnt insane — we solved our room with five minutes remaining. Id gladly go back for another room.
So much fun! We did the Laboratory and had a blast. It was challenging but moved along quite nicely. Great fun for our group!
Staff was nice. I gave it 3 stars because half of our locks wouldnt open.
A member of our group is physically disabled. To participate in the activity you have to climb up steps to get to the front door and then climb three flights of stairs to get the Escape Key. They have no elevators. When I asked the person at the desk if they dont have to comply with ADA she said, I guess not. So then I asked if the activity itself was not accessible. And her response was, No its accessible. So then I said its not accessible if a person cant even get up to where the activity is located. Its more than apparent that they either dont care about the segment of the population that is disabled or they are too stupid to know what accessible means. Either way, they didnt get my money. I plan on letting everyone I know not to frequent this business.
Amazing experience for my players. They had a great time! Thank you so much, escape key, for the great job you do. We look forward to coming back again sometime soon.
Such a great time with our whole family!! The staff was fantastic and very friendly!
Amazing and entertaining room. We had a group of 4 in the Sherlock room and escaped with 41 seconds to spare. Challenging yet fun. Id highly recommend this.
We did the CSI one and it was fun. The only thing I would recommend is to sync Vs voice to subtitle on the intro video. Other than that, it was fun. Audio should be a bit clearer.
We had our company party here. Was great fun and nice to do something different with our group.
The staff was all very excellent and It was such a fun activity to do! A great date idea or for any group of friends that want to get out and do an activity. Tons of fun!
We did the CSI room and it was awesome. It was very challenging and very interesting. Had a fantastic time and a fun group. Great for a couples night out. Enjoy!
I went and did the Lair of Lunacy room, and it was definately a unique and interesting experience. It was very nerve-racking in the beginning and tested the brain. I personally think that it is better with smaller groups, (I went in a group of four) because even with such a small group, there is at least one person that cant do anything. Our time was; 5:31. I dare you to beat us!!
We had a blast. Three in our group plus another couple. Everyone contributed unique skills and solutions, and we worked well together. We escaped with 61 seconds to spare.
