Was so excited to go back and see a movie. Everything was pretty good until I went for a refill on my drink and was told refills were temporarily unavailable. When asked why I wasnt told they only said it was on a sign. Like when going to see a movie, I would stand there and read hundreds of little signs. AMC I was impressed with some of the steps you have taken, but then you do something stupid like this. Now Im just sticking with my home theater. I see AMC being another casualty of COVID-19.

Everything was great. Not the theaters fault but the claw machine with stuffed plush inside NEVER gets rotated. For years Ive watched one item that is at the bottom of the machine. It has sat and never gets rotated to the top. Tell the claw machine operator to rotate the stock. Otherwise great place, love the experience, except for the claw machine out front.

My family went here quite often when we lived in Roanoke. Everyone was always nice. The popcorn bucket was a great value. Unfortunately, there is not an AMC near us now.

Could use more staff and a paintjob, but it has done a 180 for the better since AMC took over. No more sticky floors.... And you get as many refills as you want on the make your own flavor Coke machine.

They serve the stale popcorn from the night before at regular price when they first open till they run out. The restrooms are out of order a lot. Now for the good stuff. Even in Tuesday when its discount ticket day they are not slammed with people! So you can come here and enjoy the movie minus the crowd. The staff are friendly minus one guy who came from AMC at Tanglewood (he shouldnt have that job to rude and talks about customers when they leave). The screens are pretty good and even though they do not have bleacher style seating since there isnt much if a crowd its not an issue. The 3D showings are normally empty. The candy is kept in date and when they make the popcorn fresh its very very good. Ive seen them clean the popcorn machine and they do well. They also keep the place in general clean. I do highly recommend this place.

Talk about blast from the past. This AMC classic made me feel like I was a kid in the 90s again. Staff was friendly. It doesnt have the modern creature comforts like stepped stadium seating, recliner chairs but it was very charming. Next time we are in the area we would return to see a movie here.

Ive been coming to this movie theater for years. The staff are really nice here and the prices are a little cheaper for each movie. They usually have most of the box office hits and there are games that you can play if you come a little early. Its smaller than some of the other theaters, but I think thats what gives it character.

Shows first run movies. Convenient to home. A little dated. Seats need replacing.

I dont go to the movies too often but I like it here much better than the theater at the mall. Worth the extra miles. Staff is great.

I just got to movie theatre, 20 mins before movie started, line for tix and concessions same line, after waiting 30 mins was already 5 mins late for movie and still did not have tickets. Poorest set up I have seen. Unless you want to get to the theatre an hour ahead go somewhere else to see your movie, huge waste of time.

A fantastic guy here checks the popcorn popping oil ingredients and the butter ingredients every time my son and I come in to see a movie (a few times a month). AMC has the best prices in town for first run movies. The parking at this theater is perfect. You literally park at the front door and walk right in, as if you were at home! Sign up for free to be a Stubs member (I was not compensated down the plug) and get discounts and free items.

Squeaking fan in theater 5 ruins the experience during quiet periods. I did no complain, but I was even willing to give them another chance by calling to see if my movie was going to be in that theater for a particular showing. They refused to tell me which theater my movie was in, so I went to the Grand...today and forever.

Seats are uncomfortable, not very clean, popcorn is not very good? We visited from the VA veterans care center about once a month and it is free so no real loss.

Movie theater is pretty good its clean but as far as popcorn and Candy very expensive for two seniors with a large popcorn and a large soda came to $47 that is quite much too expensive to go to a movie

Have your Stubs card ready for discounts.All this and still made it in time for previews. Could use some improvements and remodeling inside. Was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ill be back!

The bathrooms can get bad during certain times when the kids and pg rated movies come on. Usually best to go there a few days or five after opening of the newly released ones. The machines to play the games are horrible dont play them total rip off. The actual theater is clean usually and well maintained. Ive never not had a decent experience watching the movie.

Movie was enjoyable, it was clean, and not to crouded. Price was also really nice too. Better than IMAX or Regal in my opinion. Plus they have a membership where you can watch up to 3 movies a week for $20 a month. Would recommend to anyone in the Roanoke and New River Valley area.

My absolute favorite theatre to go to. It may look a bit run down but the service is always perfect and it’s the perfect place to see a high demand movie because the lines are seldom very long. Great theaters and always a good time!

When Salem Valley 8 was a Carmike theater, I enjoyed going there. Yes, there were lots of previews, but it was clean, the staff was friendly, the sound levels were reasonable, and it was less crowded and less expensive than many of the other movie theaters in the area. However, the first time I went after it became an AMC theatre, my date and I were very unimpressed. It was reasonably clean, the staff was friendly, and it was still less crowded and less expensive than the other theaters, but the sound volume during the previews was uncomfortably loud, making quiet conversation impossible. The previews were repetitive and went on for 25 minutes after the movie was supposed to start. We were debating whether to leave or not when the feature finally started. About half way through, the movie, the screen went blank. Several people went to tell the staff about it, but we missed seeing (although we heard) almost 10 minutes of the movie. Ill definitely think twice before going back. If I do, Ill make a point to get there at least 10 minutes after the movie is supposed to start, and Ill take ear plugs to wear during the previews.

Went Saturday to see A Star is Born - 30 MINUTES OF PREVIEWS - I will not be going back. It is well worth paying a few more dollars in order to get to see the movie on time -- I understand a couple of previews but we were ready to walk out. Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! It is so sad because this is a nice theatre. There were other people in our room stating the same thing. They will be losing alot of business.

I really like this theater because its a little less expensive than the alternatives in the Roanoke Valley and its never super crowded.

The picture quality made me feel the same way I have after looking at a 3D screen without the glasses; queasy, disoriented, and dizzy throughout the movie and for about 30 minutes afterward. This is the only reason I would mark it a 3. Otherwise, the service was friendly, competent, and swift; the facilities were clean and ready; and the experience was overall as expected.

I was surprised that their chairs are still from the 70s maybe 50s... please have something more relaxing. I shouldn’t have to move my feet every 30 mins to get comfortable.

Not crowded and relatively inexpensive vs. other theaters. A bit noisy though; acoustics arent great, you can hear other movies noise in background.

Please read carfully stop going here they are acting nice after you buy the tickets they sale everything with highest price. And if you come for refund the staff members trying to trick you specially (Alan) I was there with my three kids they never remind me that the movei is gonna start after an hour they just sold the four tickets on me. And after that they charge me $35 dollar for just (4) small size drink and (1) small popcorn, then after waiting long time for movei they told me that the movei is gonna start after an hour you guys have to wait then I asked for refund of my money the whos name is (Alan) he said we can refund your tickets but not the taxes and $35 dollar for 4 small drink and a popcorn. That was my all money that day to have fun with my four kids.

Arrived early, sat through 30 minutes of previews and commercials that were playing way too LOUD as in painful. Lucky for me I had read other reviews and took earplugs, make sure to take foam earplugs or be prepared for hearing damage. Even with earplugs it was very loud. If there is a next time I will take over the ear hearing protection, no lie. Used earplugs for the first third of the movie (A Star is Born) due to the loud music in the film. I am a senior with some hearing loss, but the place is way too LOUD. A little over six bucks with tax for senior ticket, that is about all I am willing to pay for a film. Not many these days are worth seeing on the big screen and it will probably be another ten years before my face darkens a theaters doors. I felt this was one of those films best seen in a theater. Popcorn and drinks out of my price range and even if I were rich, I would bring my own food at least. My best tip, arrive fifteen minutes after the scheduled start time and skip the bulk of the noise, or better yet, just wait for the library to get the DVD and save money, grief and HEARING. I give the place a big thumbs down simply for the decibel level........Eight months later I stopped by to see Midsommer and found no need for earplugs this visit. The volume was almost too low now...LOL.. Enjoyed the show and had the entire theater to myself on a Monday afternoon.Still two stars due to high food and drink prices. The small drink costs more than my senior admission? No wonder the place sits empty so often and they have to run nearly thirty minutes of commercials and previews before the show. (Tip; arrive late, bring earplugs just in case)

We go to this little theater because it reminds us of going to the theaters back in the 70s. Its been purchased by AMC but no changes are visible. We havent gone since the purchase. Its friendly inside, certainly not fancy. It doesnt have much slant to the seating so one can get behind folks you cant see thru more often than in cinemas with stadium seating but its never really been an issue for us. If youre not set on all the Dolby sounds etc you may just enjoy this theater.

Outdated and ran by teenagers. But, the laid back adult crowd goes there so you dont have to worry about loud obnoxious trashy folks ruining your movie going experience.

Great place, popcorn is great, staff is great, and the people are great. Its a movie theater gor god sake. Not the companies fault if we the people mess up the seats and trash the place. Tell the person next to you or around you to police up after them selves. Stop being afraid to approach someone about there nasty ass, and let them know. If you are afraid to say something go pick it up yourself. Simple fix. World is full of confrontation, time to start one yourself.

Best popcorn in town, but dont like the upgrade. We like the staff to handle fixing the drinks. Also, theater seating needs upgrading.

Great service, poor design of concessions. You do your own butter, but butter is only on one side and same thing with drinks. You have to walk back and forth...then again maybe its good after all, look at the calories. Worst thing are price increases when AMC bought them out.

It had been a number of years since I visited this theater. A long time ago the place had run down, the theaters smelled strong of moldy mop and the floors were sticky from all the residue that hadnt been cleaned up.Somebody really cleaned this place up!!! They have digital DLP projectors, great screens, new carpet, comfortable seating and the theaters are very clean all around. Even the bathrooms were clean. The theater did not have any odor this time.I will probably only go to this business in the future to see movies because it is much closer to my house, its cleaner, more pleasant staff, MUCH more reasonable prices. Two tickets on matinee were only $13!!!!I love this place now. If its been a while since you tried it out I would highly suggest you give it another try. Someone corrected all the old issues.Mark

When they say Classic youd better be ready because the theater is old as dirt. I felt like I was watching a really bad huge old TV. Screen is not HD and seemed out of focus until I got used to it. They should not charge the same pricing as Modern theaters, it should be a $5.00 movie theater so they should not run the latest movies. Very disappointed that I did not get the experience of the special effects of the movie we saw. Theater does not have stadium seating so thankfully it was not crowded but if someone is sitting in front of you, you literally cannot see. The only thing in the year 2017 about this theater is the Freestyle Coke Machine and the Cash registers. Friendly staff and cleanliness was a plus but I almost expected Popcorn Grease on the floor like it used to be when I was little. The movie we saw, this was the only place it was playing. I usually only go to Valley View Grande 16 and I am sticking with it. Never going back. My 61 Inch TV at home is better and free!

I was disappointed in concession prices. I mean wow! We arrived during the previews. Unless the entering crowd for our movie spilled massive amounts of popcorn the theater was not cleaned from the previous movie. If it was the entering crowd shame on them. The popcorn cost more that Chilean Sea Bass per oz.

Me and my boyfriend went this past weekend to watch a movie and it was not a good experience. When we arrived the lobby smelled weird not a good smell.The service was okay, we got to our theater and sat in the middle rows which were covered with cheese. The seats were super uncomfortable and the floors were dirty as well. When the movie started there was a super annoying squeaking noise from the speakers and it continued throughout the whole movie the cup holders had gum stuck inside. And the worst part was I could hear the movie next door playing I paid a pretty penny to go see a movie there will not be going back anytime soon not worth it
