Awesome little wax museum dedicated to horror movies past and present. The information with each figure was a nice touch. Yes you cant take pictures but so what, it is definitely worth the price. The gift shop has a nice selection of horror items.
This place was amazing. We spent a solid hour in here (maybe more, to be honest there was so much to see i lost track of time). The wax figures are amazingly well done and the in depth look at the production of each film was very insightful. My wife is a film buff and loved every second of it. I am less in to film and still loved it. Put this place on the top of your list. Best value in Salem, and FAR FAR better than any of the other museums youll see in stores along the main drag.
This place was honestly the highlight of my trip. I loved every moment of it. The photos, the replicas, the sets, the music; it was all amazing. The experience from start to finish can take 20-30 minutes but no matter how fast you go through, you will be amazed at all of the things you will see. This is a must when visiting Salem.
This place is straight up phenomenal if you’re into horror movies. We’ve been going to Salem ever year recently and this is my personal MUST GO TO location when we visit. There’s a lot of just ok attractions in Salem that seem to always draw large crowds, but even though this is on the main drag it still feels like a hidden gem because they take great care not to let people take a million pictures and ruin the surprises. If you’re in Salem for the festivities, it’s very reasonably priced and you’ll love it. A++++
I havent been to his new location, but his old location was the bomb. hands down one of the better places in Salem to visit for Halloween or if youre into horror movies.People there very nice and the props are AAA plus. I Im sure this new place is even better.
We really loved it here. The museum is filled with wax figures from the history of horror movies. Its a lot of fun even if it is a bit of a quick walk through. The attendant (owner?) was really nice and knowledgeable. A lil disappointed that you cant take photos but thats okay! It was still cool!
Really excellent museum. I have seen most of the movies that were displayed here. Each exhibit had a write-up and contained interesting facts. The gift shop had tons of great items from shirts, patches, magnets, hoodies, plus more. Perfect layout and setup. I wish we were able to take photos inside.
This is a great museum for the horror and monster lover! Enjoy going everytime I visit my sister in Salem. Great shop, too. Its my go-to for horror t-shirts.
A great place with all kinds of movie memorabilia. From the earliest scary to movies to todays thrillers. Awesome little gift shop.
Interesting place but in my opinion the tickets should cost not more than $7.Overall I was satisfied:)
Visit date 8/15/20: Best $11 spent in a long time! If you’re a fan of the old horror classics (and even if you’re not) this is by far the coolest, creepiest, and informative museum. There’s an abundance of info about each exhibit. Viewing is at your own pace, so you’re not rushed through. The figures are imposing and very life-like, and creeeeepy (check out Regan MacNeil‘s eyes- they follow you!- she’s in the back room in the wheelchair). Gave me goosebumps! I understand why photography is not allowed, but I really wish I could’ve gotten my pic with the king, Nosferatu. Thank you James for sharing your AWESOME COLLECTION!
The figures are awesome and the information is great. The store has some cool stuff to pick from too.
Amazing! Realistic wax sculptures. Great ambiance. Helpful friendly staff.
Amazing display, loved this place! Also, one of the only places in Salem to get Trick R Treat merch
Very cool place, but they should drop the price a little unless they start letting people take pictures inside.
Count Orloks was such a fun stop on our trip to Salem. You will encounter some of the greats from the horror world- Pennywise really spooked me. This place is perfect if you are a lover of horror, cinema or just want something different to experience. Please go and be respectful; yes it’s small, so don’t go in expecting to spend longer than 30 minutes going through the displays. And understandably, you cannot take photos inside although you will wish you could! The shop also has a nice variety of Horror merchandise, Count Orloks Nightmare Gallery merch as well as Salem locals artworks/merch.
A fun little wax museum dedicated to the history of horror cinema up to the present
I went here last summer and it was AWESOME!! The wax figures were super cool and the staff was great!! I will definitely got again!! A lot of people are complaining about how you cant take pictures but its really not there fault because a lot of the monsters are owned by huge companies and if you take a photo and post it online it can lead to copyright problems.
The monsters are great and very detailed. Definitely a must go to when in Salem
I like the night mare gallery museum because i like horror. Dennis Winship Lynn, massachusetts
I was glad to see a couple of my favorites in here and I can appreciate the effort that went into making the museum. What I would suggest to the owner is to perhaps open a small section up with a few figures as a photo op to compensate for the no photography rule.
Super cool place! Absolutely recommend for anyone visiting salem who is a fan of horror. There is over 24 different wax statues of famous hollywood horror figures. Pennywise, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and others! Absolute must.
I absolutely enjoyed this exhibition!!! Great work is done! The most scary one is Pennywise, that guy gives me chills!!!
Must visit if you like horror/monsters the figures are out of this world in detail and accuracy. Especially love the molds of famous faces Tim Curry, Stephen King, etc. Owner also very friendly and helpful.
It was absolutely awesome! Great wax figures
Super cool horror museum, the figures inside are very realistic and creepy!
Cool, but short, cant take photos.
This place is awesome! Its a must see.
Great collection and tribute to the horror genre, but the fact that you can’t take any pictures and gift shop is horribly overpriced makes this place on of Salem’s biggest rip-offs! Seriously Count Orlok’s give us something!
This place is very cool. The rare occasion that a Salem horror attraction isnt cheesy. COUNT ORLICKS is so awesome! Theyve got every worthy horror film covered. Im a grown man and the eery life-like figures can be unsettling if you let your imagination get away from you. Got to chat with the owner who is equally cool. Nice gift shop with some groovy tshirts. I recommend this for horror fans. Kids and kids at heart. Fun place.
We love visiting every time we are in Salem. They have a great collection of horror figures and memorabilia. The staff is very knowledgeable, we even had a quiz at the end once! The collection has grown over the years and we have enjoyed multiples visits. I always see something new! I have taken several friends and family members here and were never disappointed. I highly recommend checking them out!
One of the best museums I have ever been. For old fan of horror movies it is pure paradise. Even though it is not allowed to take a photos inside. Which is kind of pity, but having 100% natural looking statues is amazing. Also I found corner of fame with photos and autographs of famous actors. It was pretty inspiring. To conclude: if you like horrors - you definitely want to visit this museum. Thanks to museum staff for kind approach and a lot of memories.
Fun, but dont take any pictures . THEY ARE WACTHING.
You like horror? You like classic horror? You enjoy learning some tidbit nuggets of info about horror? Then this is a place for you. Very cool movie replicas of the costumed actors. Each replica has a placard giving you some information regarding the movie and character associated. Cool layout and ambience that ends in the gift shop. Cool items to buy . The owner James was a cool guy
A must visit for horror fans! Short, but a lot of great displays, facts, and wax figures. They have a lot of great books in the gift shop. If you are in Salem you should definitely check them out.
Visited this in summer and liked it very much. Very good work done with love, but it is really for the fans. And it is a very small place, I took my time but was out after only 30 minutes and walked everything twice. So it is a little bit expensive and they should do something for the photo people like one moving figure that you can take pictures with or something like that, so you can get something to remember. But the figures are really good, Pennywise looked damn real ;)
Idk how people thought this was good. First, and foremost... YOU CANT TAKE PICTURES INSIDE!!!! What kind of MUSEUM can you not take pictures in. It was filled with nothing but wax statues the looked awful. I adore horror movies, but I’d rather go to a My Little Pony Museum than this place.
Amazing place! Highly recommend.
Wonderfully display of monster though out time
Such a great display of monsters from horror films throughout the ages. the shop owner is verry friendly
Really neat. Lots of cool information on the placards. I wont spoil the surprise of my favorite two monsters that showed up in there but I was very excited to see them alongside the iconic Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankensteins monster, Bela Lugosi, and more.
This is another fairly small museum. But It was very cool. Definitely recommend it if your a horror movie fan.
This place is a must for any horror fan! This is one of the most unique and fun experiences in Salem. We end through the gallery twice on our short trip. I highly recommend
This museum is small, but it is not meant to be rushed through. If you are a fan of horror, theres a lot to appreciate. The props are magnificent and are all accompanied by interesting trivia info.I was surprised to see certain things but the museum doesnt offer anything too obscure. If youre a big horror fan, youll likely recognize all but a few props. In other words, the museum is more for horror eye candy than anything. Dont expect to add anything new to your to watch list after walking through. My only real complaint is the gift shop. It was pricey and mostly filled with shirts.
Glad to see you have a new place! I do reccomend you add some sort of transition. It was kind of short lived because of the way its just all open. We thought the previous home was longer lasting because it had a hallway route. This was nice, couple more cool props, but we both thought it seemed shorter. Dont be mad! I hope you can see what we mean. You guys always have a nice show.
Very cool place to visit. It takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to go through the whole thing, if you dont read it all. But it has lots of great mentions of lots of different horror movies. Would visit again.
Kind of a waste. Between your time and money, I would probably just walk right by. Super small for what you get. Its basically a wax museum with a handful of horror characters. No animations, no real cool artifacts or movie props. Just a few wax characters and a theater with a few chairs. What plays?! No idea, we didnt stick around to find out. Took us maybe 15 min to get throughThe guy at the front was friendly and he did mention that they will be opening the basement next year. As long as the price doesnt rise, maybe it might be worth it then. I really dont understand the rules of no photography. Theres nothing sacred in there that is worth keeping hush hush.
This place is nuts in all the best ways. If youre looking for a spooky time Count Orloks is a blast. If youre a true horror fan its paradise. Legions of cinemas most iconic ghouls await you inside. Universal, Hammer, the slashers rogues gallery... plus a few surprises. Each life-size monster is accompanied with a little film history too. And if you manage to get there on a week day you may be able to just walk right in with almost no wait.
The wax figures here are exquisitely done and very realistic. There is a lot of information on each character. Make sure to visit!!
A great little wax and memorabilia museum dedicated to horror movies. I dont see it as an attraction for young children because its heavy on the reading and that could get boring for them.It is small but chock full of facts so take your time and look for the details. Not overly scary but the Pennywise statues got me good! Theres also a cool section where you can sit down and watch a movie playing on a wall. Highly recommend as a pit stop.
Very cool and interesting horror film museum I wish it was a little longer and had a bit more variety but what they had was super cool. one of our sons got the last minute jitters and refused to go in. they made us good on that. I really appreciated that. the gift shop has awesome horror shirts too, I grabbed a vampire one
Love love looove this place.... always a must when we go to Salem. They are truly horror fans and love what they do. The attention to detail on the wax displays are AMAZING. I highly recommend to anyone who loves things that go bump in the night
Wasn’t expecting much but decided to go in since the line was fairly short. It ended up being great! Everything was very clean and well kept, the figures were extremely well done.
Loved the museum! I bought the tickets online and just had to scan them from my phone to go in, very convenient. No phones allowed in the museum which kinda sucked but it was very fun and you could walk around at your own time and read at your own pace.
Absolutely AMAZING collection and very thoughtfully arranged. Definitely gonna come back here on our next trip.
Absolutely loved this museum. It goes through the beginnings of film with the Universal Monsters and before, and all the way to modern day. There are no scares in the walkthrough, but a few of the displays will catch some people off guard! Theres a theatre in the back that I didnt stick around for but would be an excellent way to kill some time and cool off. If you love movies, this is a must!
Love this place. They have some really good stuff here for horror fans both in the museum and the shop. Plus celebrity guests the last two times we came.
Absolutely one of the best places Ive ever visited in my life. I dont really watch horror movies, but at under ten dollars each I couldnt say no! My dad adores old hammer and universal horror movies so I went so I could tell him about what was there. Unfortunately I live in the UK so I cant make frequent visits to this gallery however this in itself is worth me flying back to Massachusetts for and I cant wait to hopefully return again one day.The only thing I wish is that they could provide a guide book with photos of all the exhibits, since photography is prohibited. I truly wish I had some photos to remember this place by even if I had to buy them.
Its ok. The exhibits look nice, but for $11 per person I expected more. About a 15 minute walk through and you cant even take pictures. For the price it would have been nice if it was a little more animated. Meaning if the exhibits moved or were triggered to move as we did. Also gift shop kind of small and unimpressive.
This place was fantastic, all sorts of ghoulish apparel and nit-knacks for purchase. It was a bit on the expensive side, but then again everything in Salem is. The walk through was also some great fun. The building was well maintained and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended.
Amazing detail. The statues are all life-like and the ambiance is just right. I havent watched many classic horror films so I didnt relate to a lot of the statues but the alien and predator life size exhibit blew me away. They have a little theater set up in an actual old bank vault too, which is really cool.
Such a cool experience! As a huge fan of all horror, this gallery was exciting! The coolest part was the wall of autographs they had! I plan on visiting Count Orlaks anytime Im in Salem!
This was a dream come true. I was in heaven here. For a horror film fanatic, it will have your jaw hitting the floor. The attention to detail here is impeccable. I cant wait to go back and see what they do next.5 stars doesnt say enough.
Small museum with plenty of potential to grow. Loved the factoids about my favorite horror films. The owner seems to be very passionate about his attraction.
Where do I start. I have been going to Salem for YEARS and have always bypassed this museum. My boyfriend and I finally went in an and OMFG! I am kicking myself for not going EVERY time I visit. This museum is INSANE for the price and the time you get in there. The reviews that read I was in and out in 15 minutes, clearly were just not into it We spent about 2 hours in there, even watched an House on Haunted Hill in the back room! OH, um, the reviews that stated tiny statues they MUST be blind as these horror characters are larger than full size and look EFFING AMAZING. I literally stood and just stared at some of them, and all the history on the plaques is amazing. I cant wait to go back. OH, if the owner is reading this...um Do you do weddings there? Dead serious question...I wish I could give it 10 stars!
Its a nice little museum for people who are into horror movies but its small and only took my husband and I about 15 minutes to walk thru. We paid $22 to go in I think that it should be less than $11 a person. You are not allowed to touch anything or take photos. I understand why no touching but I think we should be allowed to take photos. The gift shop is small and everything is over priced. The guy that worked there was very nice and the place is very clean.
This is a cool little museum of youre into horror movies, especially the classics. The monsters inside are well done & the info you can read on each movie has neat fun facts sprinkled through them. Its a cheap place to visit, and worth the price. Dont go in here expecting to have your mind blown though. The small gift shop has some good finds in it and the staff was super friendly!
Such an amazing place. The level of detail is absolutely phenomenal, and the various rooms are so well-done and atmospheric. While the exhibit itself isn’t terribly long, this is well worth the visit. I loved it.
This place was so much fun for a horror fan! I went with my sister and father, and even though they dont like scary films quite nearly as much as I, they still found Count Orlok’s to be entertaining and a great way to spend time in Salem.
(Warning : I might be biased as Im not a huge horror film fan.)Youll probably really like it if youre into horror movies. Its a relatively short walkthrough, but is interesting to read summaries and facts about each monster mannequin.
Count Orloks Nightmare Gallery is the perfect place for fans of old horror movies. Not only are the exhibits very life like but the descriptions offer revealing insight into the real horrors of film production. You really need to be sure that you take the time to read the descriptions. Maybe dont turn your back to the Pennywise sculpture... just to be safe.
This place was great! I love the collection of creatures it was an awesome set up. Ill be back again, and cant wait to see what new additions they add! I highly recommend especially if you are a horror fan like me!
Really cool and creepy place for horror movie buffy and a really cool place for fans of the genre. Definitly spend the eleven bucks to walk through the museum and check out how lifelike some of the mannequins look.
As a huge horror fan, this is my dream museum. It’s very small but has really detailed figures of all of the well known horror characters/ actors, plus fun facts about the movie sets. Cool gift shop too with lots of horror merch, HIGHLY recommend!!
Excellent set up. Would have paid double the cost to see it. Check it out even if you arent a huge horror buff, very cool place.
Such a great exhibit! If you’re a horror buff, this place is for you. It’s got a lot of fun facts and little tidbits about certain props so definitely read them!
Loved all the horror movie characters. One of my favorite character is the creature from the black lagoon.
A fantastic place if youre into horror movies. Full of information and great looking models. Well worth it.
This place never ever disappoints!!!! It is always great and awesome to visit here my wife and I have been her 6 times total. They are always adding things as well. Is you are in Salem you have to visit here. If you love horror. You will love this place. James who is the owner is amazing and extremely nice. Thanks VISIT HERE!!!
Giving the three stars because the wax figures were really cool, and very detailed, otherwise I would give less due too the price vs. the short length of the tour and the no photography rule. I’m someone who stops and looks at every detail, and even doing that, it took no more than 15 mins to complete. I can see how some people may feel rushed as people maneuver through, but the employees did not rush us at all. Everything was well set up and they had some cool pieces. Unfortunately jack nicholson was being repaired while we were there. As for the no photography rule, it’s ridiculous. I came over a thousand miles to visit salem, and only stopped off at this tour solely based off of pictures people took and put on the Internet. I took pictures anyway, and anyone who is sneaky enough to get away with it should. I still say if you have the extra cash, it’s worth stopping in to see at least once if you love horror. Also it’s very clear the owner is condescending by all of the responses they give, and doesn’t truly care if the customer is happy. You should take your customers feedback into consideration and better their experience. After all, without customers you wouldn’t have your business.
Amazing statues, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Been here twice and it has been a great, unique experience each time. Looking forward to going again
More of a wax museum and less of a fill museum. And for $11.00 per person I expected more. Also no pictures after I spent that money is ridiculous.
Really fun place to go if you love Horror movies like I do. Wasnt very big and you cant take any pictures inside, but really liked the figures they had. Favorite was Pennywise from IT, so realistic and scary.
Phenomenal museum. Always a great time
I thought it was very cool! I wish they let people in more sparatically, because there was no on in front of our group, but the people behind our group were standing on top of me waiting for me to leave each exhibit.
Nice movie history. But no pictures and expensive. Took less then 10 minutes
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this gallery. Seeing both the classic monsters and the more current monsters life size was so much fun. My teenage daughter who is not a horror movie buff thought it was great. Nicely done and the staff was friendly. This is one place I will visit again next time I am in Salem.
Great displays just a little pricey for not much viewing/experience.
Pretty cool museum showing life size horror icons but not all that big. Won’t get much out of it unless you are a horror buff.
This amazing collection has been acquired over many years by a true aficionado of Horror films. If you have any interest in the subject, this is a must-go. The collection and displays continue to grow and deepen. This new location in an old bank adds some real built-in creepiness. Looks like they will have a classic horror film playing in a back room most of the time, so that alone makes the ticket worth it.
What an amazing museum! A must for any fan of horror. So much attention to detail, cant wait to visit again!
Any horror fan will love visiting The Nightmare Gallery, a unique spot even for the witch city. Be thrilled and chilled by all your favorite movie monsters! Spooky fun for everyone!
