My kids have a great time here. We come here as often as we can. It gives them kids to play with and the other parents are consistent as well so they have a chance to learn the kids in the neighborhood. Good assortment of activities that get them excited with put me having to get involved
Super old Urban park. Very family friendly. Dogs all over the place. Sadly these people dont seem to want to share the park with disc golfers. Walkers routinely walk through play Good way to get hurt! Theres a giant field, baseball diamonds, and a really nice set of pavilions including a bathroom. The playground is pretty extensive and well suited for 2-7 year olds. Lots of old growth trees make this a gorgeous spot to spend a day. Oh, and the most curious feature of this park is the scale railroad that tells through half the park. It runs Saturdays at 1, I believe. That also means no disc golf during that time (1-530, we were told).
Great Disc Golf course! One of the oldest courses in Michigan. Established in 1981, many upgrades have taken place over the years to make it fun and challenging. The latest upgrade is brand new Discraft ChainStar Pros!!
Its wonderful place Ive visited! Lots of old growth trees make this a gorgeous spot to spend a day.
Park has always been clean, disc golf course is great for a beginner. Love that it is in the middle of a suburb. Seems like the play scape is great for kids. Solid baseball diamonds.
Very nice park. Larger than I expected. Includes playscapes for kids. Restrooms. 3 par frisbee course. At least 2 pavilions for picnics & gatherings. 2 baseball fields. And volleyball.
Good facilities, multiple pavilions and play structures. Everything seemed to be in good shape.
Nice place disc golf kiddie playground usually kept up well
Absolutely love this park. And they have bathrooms which is definitely a plus
Im not very familiar with the Detroit area but nice little park in what seems to be a nice area.
Perfect forchildren and adults, they even a dog class going on out there!
Covered lighted seating(under pavilions), good trash dispensers. Lots of room for social distancing.
Generous amount of space to spread out. Covered areas, disc golf, pokestops and poke gyms aplenty. Pretty well maintained. Nice
A great park. The play structures are always well maintained and the park is clean.
Fun for kids and adults disc golf and playground open field and more
Awesome local park, plenty of space más very clean!
Awesome disc golf course.....take a pic of the sign so you can find next tee box
Love this park. Lots to do with kids.
Very cool and fun, my granddaughter had a blast !! Very clean too
Park actually has shade, which is amazing in the summer. One of the more updated structures around as well.
Discgolf course is what it is. But still fun.
Excellent disc golf course & playground as well for the kids
A decent disc golf course, 9 holes each with two platforms so you can play 18. Official park rules dont allow beer but it doesnt seem to be enforced. Lightly wooded to add some obstacles but you wont lose any discs. Plenty of parking, also volley ball courts, baseball field, bike parking and playground for children. When I went at 6 pm bathrooms were locked and no portapotties.
My all time favorite park! Lots of shade and theres even trains, although theyre small.
Disc golf course is in great condition for February! Well laid out course. It challenges the average player while not being unfair.
Great place for a picnic and disc golf.
Cool Park with lots of good playground equipment. Outdoor Shakespeare was going on that day. 18 hole disc golf was good, just wish there was a map of where each hole was located. Miniature train tracks with hobbyists who brought their own train engines and train cars for giving people rides. Very neat park!
Well treed, 18 hole golf course.
Nice close to home always will go back
Nice park. 2 great play structures... one for older kids and 1 for younger kids. Relatively clean restrooms. Picnic Pavillion. Very shaded so good for those hot summer days. Lots of trees... also means lots of bugs though.
Great place to disc golf, lots of shade and long holes
Nice challenging disc golf course here. Place was well kept and clean. Plentiful shade for those hot days.
Nice disc golf course. 9 baskets but 2 tee pads for each basket to make it an 18 hole course. Someone recently fixed it up a bit. Really nice!
Nice park. Lost one star because of all the standing water and mud. Otherwise great place.
As city parks go in this area, this is a nice, big one with lots of mature trees, two playground areas, and plenty of space for picnic blankets.Pros: trees, playground, space, mini trains, pavilions available for reservationCons: lack of tables (outside pavilions), parking (on busy days)Run kids, run!: There are two playgrounds, one of which is suited more for smaller children. Both are pretty cool by modern standards. (Though not as cool as the wooden old west town they used to have in the 80s and 90s!) The size of the park allows for playing catch, Frisbee, etc.Few tables: Outside of the pavilions, there are not many tables available. Again, there is plenty of space to put down a blanket in the shade or set up folding chairs.Parking can be limited on busy days. There are two modest-sized lots, one of which is near the ball fields, which are about a 3-5-minute walk from the other amenities.Mini trains! On the first weekend of the month from May to October, the Great Lakes Steamers offer miniature train rides on a track that runs through much of the park. Its a lot of fun for kids (and adults). Unless you hate miniature things, you will enjoy a ride. Please donate to support the volunteers who operate and maintain the service. (Check out their awesome 1990s-era website! :) )
Use to come here as a child. The train isnt currently up and running unfortunately
Great park for little kids and the disc golf course is fun too!
I usually go to disc golf on their 9/18 hole course. Theyve got some nice play structures and room to relax. Not deep in the wilderness just a nice suburban park
Nice park, just wish the restrooms were open. No additional port a potty in sight too
Great family play date space
Clean, quiet park. Check out the train rides in the spring and summer!
They have two huge playsets. They also have a train from may until November gunning through the park for the little kids. Time for the trains is 12pm to 4pm on Saturdays. This place also has a disc golf course. The best part of all is that its free to the public.
The miniature train rides are such a wonderful part of our summer, thank you so much for having them! The great lakes steamers!!!!
Very muddy in summer!!! Please come check out the Great Lakes Live Steamers club we run every first weekend of the month here at Starr Jaycee bring your kids or friends for a ride on the trains its free and lots of fun awesome park
Best park in the Metro Detroit area!
Nice playground with lots of different ways to climb and for all ages. it is in the shadow so it is very nice on hot days.
This park is beautiful and spacious. It has lots of trees and a playground. It would be perfect for a picnic.
Very cool park for all ages. Excellent playground equipment. Swings and a sandbox. Also a disc golf course and bathrooms
A great park for the family or events like the old time baseball League, spring walkathon monthly scale train rides or the August production of Shakespeare in the park. Ball fields, pavilions, tall oaks, modern playground equipment & a disc golf course an all around great park for many interests.
Had to call 911 because of a homeless tweaker who had fallen and could not get up. 1 star for memorability.
Ive often admired this park when driving past. Today I got to sit and work here for a while. Very peaceful!
Very fun Park train ride is the best kids love it
Great disc golf course!
Love Starr Park. Lots to do and a huge area
Lots of community activities take place in this park. There is a jungle gym and swings for young children. A miniature train is available to ride at certain times. The park has a baseball diamond and a big field for football practice right next to it.
Clean. Spacey.
Great park for young kids. Check out the free trains the first weekend of the month during the summer.
Love the train! Love that its free :-) The only thing that was really disconcerting was the amount of mud there. The park has some serious drainage issues and if youre going make sure that you bring boots for your kids; else youll be really bogged down
Very nice park in a nice area, has train rides first week of the month may through? Kids have a great time here
Nice park dogs friendly
Shady, play structures, benches, and room for social distancing.
Great family park. Tons of space and even a special train for kids to ride on certain Sundays of the summer. Come by and see the Royal Oak Wahoos play on their field as well
I love that they replaced the disc golf baskets at this park!
Great place for kids. Love the trains.
A nice park with sand volleyball and a few baseball fields, always see gatherings going on at the park and they do have an actual bathroom
Nice little park, but the bathrooms are disgusting.
The train is fun, though it only runs one weekend a month for part of the year
My kids love this park. Its great for disc golfers, having a party, or just to play! Its big, and has a lot going on. There are some weekends with the small train club there, and thats so much fun in the summer, to take a ride with your kiddos.
It is a well maintained park. Two playscapes, clean bathrooms, covered picnic areas. Recycling can.
Excellent and beautiful Royal Oak park. Great venue for every type of family friendly event. Highly recommend it!
Very nice and clean Park. Fun for all ages. Bathroom available as well
Love that they allow dogs on leashes
Overall a great park. First weekend of each month May thru Oct, Free train rides from the Great Lakes Streamers, noon to 4 p.m. weather permitting.
Lots of fun especially if you get there when the trains are running.
Nice shaded area with plenty of play structures for all ages. Sandbox too!
One of the best park around the area .free parking spot. Restroomes are clean and has all supplies.water fountains available .also barbeque grills available. Kids playsets And playground .with seats and benches around . highly recommended for families and any picnic and other activities
Good playground for all age ranges. Rideable train for kids once a month (should be more often). Good simple discgold course. Has covered picnic area and bathrooms. Floods in the rainy season but still playable with some boots
Clean, well maintained, nice spot for a company picnic.
Great park! A lot of fun things for kids of all ages, even my 20 month old.
Very nice and clean lots of slides and toys to play with for the kids
Beautiful, clean and a great playground. There is a disc golf course here as well.
Offering free train rides for kids (and adults) on scale model steam engine trains.
Shaded and cool with an awesome structure for the kids. They even have a small train for littles to ride!
You shouldnt have all sports there football and cheerleading are fine but I am talking about the other sports (aka beach volleyball)
One of the better parks, has a bathroom, three pavilions, two sets of playgrounds and train on certain weekends. Also has a disc golf course thats pretty good. My kids always have fun here.
What a nice clean place!!!!
This is a great park nice play area for the kids and great place for disc golf. Its an open course with trees in great position to define fairwairs the course could definitely use new baskets though. Im pretty sure these are 10-20 years old
This park is a great space, has jungle gyms for kids, an open field, wooded are a, and by the looks of it some kind of mini train, there are mini rails everywhere. I started bringing my dog here for walks. My only complaint is there are no trashcans. So other pet owners either dont pick up after them, or bag it and start a pile, that other people use as a trash heap. Trash cans would make this park perfect
Amazing place to spend time with the family especially if you have small children. The scale train rides are a wonderful way to spend a lazy summer Saturday afternoon. The train operators are wonderful and will take time to explain how the trains work to curious children.
Its such a clean park and I saw Shakespeare in the Park there and it had a great atmosphere. Its just so pretty at that park compared to ones closer to my home.
